This is a review for Boarding at Club K9 in Castro Valley / San Ramon. We will not send our dog there again based on this experience on a 5 night stay from 6/27 to 7/2. This was not over a holiday weekend. Consistent messaging by email (after night 1) and phone from Club K9 staff was that Mira was having a great stay - we were notified that she wet her crate/dog bed the first night, but we weren't worried as that could've been a switch from dry to wet dog food. When we returned to pick her up - we were told that she had a great stay! But we were then told later that she had a second accident where she fully soiled her dog bed with diarrhea, likely due to the stress of being in the crate, and an employee handed out some extra prebiotics to help over the next few days. She also had a fairly large nose injury from rubbing it on the crate/fences. No one from Club K9 noticed the injury over the 5 day period or let us know - the reaction from the employee when shown the injury was "oh my god, we have no records of this!" with an off-the-cuff recommendation not to send her to this facility in the future. I have no issue with the facility's standard operating procedure of crating the dogs overnight- we were told and shown the facility in advance. I have significant concerns that staff are emphatically optimistic on every dog's "reports" when that optimism is unwarranted. Honesty that Mira wasn't having a good stay would have been appreciated- we would have made a call to have a friend pick her up for the last night or two. We will take the employee's advice and not send her to Club K9 in the future. Staff's evident ignorance of concerning issues, or lack of care to proactively address the situation, all while telling owners that everything is fine is too much for us. read more

He was there every day last week and so far we are FANS! Club K9 is just what my dog, Sterling needed. Since moving from the central coast, he has not been able to attend play dates or doggy daycare on a regular basis. So it was nice to be able to take him to a location that offers outdoor playtime. Since moving to San Ramon, the majority of dog care locations only have indoor space. We did our trial visit months ago (after a very well put together orientation and site tour) and received a complimentary visit to make sure he was going to be a good fit. Drop-off and Pick-up was very easy with a member of the team meeting us as soon as we arrived. During the visit I received pictures of Sterling playing with other dogs and enjoying one of the outdoor spaces. At pick-up, he was outside playing and greeted me at the fence. I really like how well enclosed and maintained the play spaces are. The turf keeps them clean and is softer in their paws. Sterling was happy and a little resistant to leaving when it was time to go home. We're home now and I have a very happy tired dog. Which makes all of our lives easier. I left my beloved dog at this kennel expecting professional care -- what I got was a heartbreaking mess. When I picked her up, her nose was raw and visibly wounded, likely from desperately rubbing against the bars or door. This kind of injury doesn't happen overnight -- it's a sign of prolonged stress or neglect, and I wasn't told a word about it when I arrived. While I knew going in, they crate their dogs over night, and I was ok with this because my dog is crate trained at home and loves her crate. They kept telling me she is doing great. We called for an update the day before we picked her up and they also told us she was doing well. It turns out she had diarrhea twice from stress in her crate. Also nobody mentioned her nose. When we picked her up and asked about it. Their response was, "oh my god" indicating that nobody noticed it or cared enough to notify us. We will never send her here again. read more

This place is in a great location. It's an outdoor facility with multiple secure play yards. My friend who recommended it say they get out the kiddie pools when it's hot, something I though my dog would enjoy. I was excited to try it out last weekend & take advantage of the free trial. It was a busy day when I arrived. Adrian was great and answered all my questions. Unfortunately, my grumpy Blue Heeler clearly believes in "No New Friends" and so it wasn't a good fit. Care was taken to place Sadie in the right group of dogs. Being a pup only 7-1/2 months old, she hasn't yet had the opportunity to socialize with other dogs. I love club k9! Georgia is a pretty shy girl and they made sure she was acclimated and comfortable in the facility before they would book her for boarding. This included giving us free days of day care so she could familiarize herself with the environment. I can tell all of the staff genuinely care about her and are always happy when we show up. All this being said if your dog is not crate trained and has no experience in the crate don't be surprised if they don't have a great time boarding here. Dogs unused to crates will be stressed by being in a crate especially with the addition of being in a new environment. I highly recommend club k9 for all crate familiar pups! read more

This place provides top notch service for boarding and doggy daycare. They genuinely care for the dogs and take such good care of them. My one year old puppy stayed here for boarding and they were so communicative and willing to answer all my questions while I was away. Club K9 and their entire staff are beyond amazing! They handle and put up with my crazy dober dorks so well! They were even able to get my oldest one in the pool on a super hot day (she HATES water). I'm in Oakland and will always make the drive here because I trust them with my sweet baby girls. They always come home happy, tired and hungry. And that makes me a very happy dober mama! :) Side note: we take them here for daycare! have not tried their boarding services, however we have tried grooming services and they seemed totally fine with it. We have been leaving our fur baby with Club K9 for 3 years and we could not be happier. He jumps out of the car when we arrive and is exhausted from all of the fun when we pick him up. They are so friendly and professional. My dogs have been going there for years. They have been there for boarding, as well, but they mainly go for daycare. We don't go every day, but they go often. I can't say enough nice things about Club K9. We started bringing our puppy to Club K9 to get him used to being around other dogs because was so afraid of others. He once ran away from a tiny Pomeranian who was a third of his size. Talk about a scaredy cat! Exposing him to other dogs at Club K9 did wonders for his socialization. He loved seeing his doggy friends and getting to play with them all day. The staff even told us that he was one of the most playful dogs there--sometimes a little too playful, but that's another story. Basically, Club K9 helped him come out of his shell. The reason we felt so comfortable taking him to Club is that the staff is second to none. They all know our dog by name and give us detailed rundowns on his day. They relay everything from his energy level to whom he played with that day. They even put a sweater on him when they thought he was cold. Bottom line is that they really care about each dog and take the time to pay attention to each one. Club K9 is a gem. I can't recommend it highly enough. read more

I am writing this review based on our recent experience with this boarding facility. They are not taking care of your dogs, most dogs are smart and they know how to take care themselves they are just running a business. They don't love or care about your dogs. This place is not for all kinds of dogs. We had a bad experience with this place. We booked a 4-night stay for my dog. This place is designed to handle as many dogs as possible and run like a factory. They seem to be in a very hurry. That is what K9 Supervisor told us that have over 70 to 80 dogs. They didn't provide any update or report card after his stay. We had to call them. Out of 4 days, they didn't call a single day and provide any update. They didn't inform me that my dog had diarrhea and changed the food. We had to take to him to the emergency vet. Owner Eric called and talked to me but seems like he doesn't have much control over this place. He is very clueless. I am not sure employees are providing correct information to him. or he doesn't have many options since the labor shortage because of the pandemic. read more

I wish the San Ramon location had a better kennel space for dogs staying overnight, dogs are in a crate without access to potty. My pup doesn't seem to mind, she's about 1 year old and can hold it. The facilities are clean, taken care of, and welcoming. Everyone knows Rosie by name and makes her feel like a VIP. We have never once questioned Rosie's safety or happiness while attending. Club K9 is absolutely amazing! My 22 month old Chihuahua/ King Charles Spaniel mix, Archibald just loves going to see his friends and playing all day. I have been purchasing the unlimited monthly plan for Archie and am really happy with it. Sometimes he goes all day long (7a-7p) while I'm working and other days I may just drop him off for a few hours on Saturday/ Sunday while I run some errands or whatnot. He really loves spending most of the day outside while being there, it's a wonderful location, nice fresh air up in the hills of Castto Valley. There is ample shade, baby pools, water misters to keep him cool, but still allow him that time to play outside all day. I know on really hot days they have brought him in to prevent him and others from overheating. I really trust the staff and this facility with my baby, they are friendly, knowledgeable and very professional. I was recommended Club K9 by a Dog Walker. For anyone that owns a smart working dog, there comes a lot of challenges when finding the right sitter or finding the right daycare to look after them. Having tried many Doggy Day Cares and experiencing it all (or at least most), CLUB K9 IS BY FAR THE BEST DOGGY DAY CARE IN THE BAY AREA.. HANDS DOWN! I have been taking my dog here since August 2017 and I have never looked back. Here's some information I can share below that could be helpful for you: Registration: It was seamless. Aries (my dog) got to play all day for free and during that time, the staff (and dogs there) spent 4+ hours with Aries to understand her temperament, energy, and personality. I was also given a tour the facility and learned more about pricing plans and how they manage so many dogs all at once. Staff: So friendly, quick and organized. The staff loves Aries and her spunky personality - they are also very quick to respond via e-mail when I have specific requests or questions. Tara, Laney, Dawn, Rene, Nicole, Cris, Rachel (and everyone else) have all been so amazing to work with these past few years. I can't appreciate them enough for all the times they had to take care of Aries when she had an upset stomach or when she needed medication. Their responsiveness and care for my dog puts me at ease while I am away from her and I am so grateful for that. Environment: A DOG'S DREAM. Aries loves to spend time outdoors and with Club K9 being an outdoor resort facility, she howls every time we pull up to drop her off at Daycare. They are also building additional play yards! You'll have the opportunity to see what they look like when you visit. I have so much more positive things to say about Club K9 but the list would go on forever.
