Sound bath event with Jenny Raffield!

Thank you Yelp and my awesome community manager Jessica, for introducing this absolutely wonderful, one of a kind facility to me! The Hub is hands down the coolest concept, dog gym meets a work from home space meets dog training meets safe dog play groups so you don't have to risk injury just trying to socialize your pup at a sketchy dog park. Andrea is so intuitive with dogs, gives great tips, and she and Chris come up with the coolest ideas for community/expert events and classes for you and your dog. You don't even need to have a dog to be a member, you can just enjoy the awesome space as a perfect work from home spot, where you can be around dogs! Make sure that your dog is fully vaccinated (rabies, dapp, bordetella) before signing up, as that is necessary from your Veterinarian prior to your behavioral assessment to become a member. Have a difficult pup that needs extra help? There's one on one behavioral training to get your pup on track! Not sure about your monthly schedule? Maple is going to be bummed but we are traveling a lot the next 3-4 weeks, so we put our membership on pause. But we will be back in March!! If you're a dog parent, The Hub is a haven of everything you could ever want. We live in Livermore but wish we lived in San Ramon after discovering them haha!

We've been going to The Hub with our dog Samson since last August. It is like night and day! Sammy came in with pretty severe leash reactivity, separation anxiety, and general struggles with impulse control. We saw huge improvements in his leash reactivity quickly after working with Andrea, and his separation anxiety and impulse control improved so much too (and continues to improve!). Andrea and Chris are also lovely humans who are a pleasure to work with. We're so glad they're here. We have also met Peyton, a new-to-us trainer who is just as caring and friendly. We have had many trainers make us feel confused, uncertain, or ashamed of how Sammy behaves in the past. We have never experienced that here and have felt empathized with and understood, while also being given consistent, supportive strategies for Sammy. Whether you/your dog is really struggling or you just need a refresher, The Hub is where you need to be!!

I was fortunate to have found The Hub about a year ago. I was immediately intrigued and signed up for an evaluation. Some background-- I have two dogs and a cat. My young dog (now 2.5 years old American Bully) is very sensitive. She has been reactive most of her life. When I brought her in for her eval a year ago, she was wearing an e-collar and a prong collar -- tools recommended by a previous trainer. After meeting with Andrea and talking about my dog, our concerns, and goals, Andrea created a plan for us. It was very hard at first. Training, of any sort, is about replacing old habits with new ones. Considering we were using suppressive/ punitive methods when arriving at the hub, the adjustment to positive reinforcement took time. It should be stated that anything worth having takes time and effort. After a lot of practice, we came a long way and were able to transition into classes at The Hub. This was fun for my dog, Nola. Despite her reactive/ sensitive nature, she is brilliant and performed quite well in class. The trainers at the hub are also excellent at providing scaffolds to help pups feel more safe and secure. (Scaffolds meaning barriers, gates, anything that helps a pup feel better in an environment with other pups.) About six months after joining The Hub, we moved to Tracy. I obviously kept our membership active because although Tracy is not close to The Hub, there is no other Hub around. The Hub is a one of a kind facility. Anyway, my sweet Nola was getting too stressed to ride in the car. Andrea worked with us again, but this time virtually as Nola was not able to ride in the car for some time. Andrea helped create a plan and we checked in weekly regarding Nola's progress with car training and getting more comfortable with her new environment. We also have experimented with some medication which has helped us tremendously. If you have a reactive/ sensitive pup, it may be worth it to inquire about medication with your vet as well. A couple months later with plenty more time and effort, we got back in the car and made it back to class at The Hub! We are forever grateful for all the help and support we have received from The Hub. We have so many tools that we use everyday that are highly effective in helping Nola remain calm when upsets enter our environment. I am really happy with how far we've come. Additionally, my older pup, Ralphie (a 15 year old Chiweenie), joined The Hub. I honestly thought it wasn't for him because he's an old boy that likes to eat, sleep, and walk. His IQ has never seemed to be very high and I didn't think to bring him to the dog gym. Well, I changed my mind and brought him to The Hub. He surprises me with all the tricks he's learned. For the record, old dogs CAN learn new tricks!!! The only limitations we have our the ones we give ourselves.

Canine fitness and mobility class

We have been going to the hub since early this year. It is a truly amazing place with dedicated staff who follow modern and science backed dog training. For the membership you get so many classes included. The pack walks have helped our dog Fenrir learn to be around other dogs without being overly excited all the time. From basic training, fun classes, and to more advanced topics, there is offerings for all dog owners. Our dog loves the obstacle course classes. We love all the classes, but the most unique is probably the Canine Fitness and Mobility classes which help teach fitness routines to strengthen and prevent injury, but also teach how to look for early signs of injury or other pain issues. We are moving soon, and I am truly so sad we will not be able to come to the hub anymore. Highly recommend to those in the bay area.

Training inside and outside.

100% recommend! The Hub offers outstanding training and truly helps you build a stronger bond with your pup. I began working with Andrea at The Hub in August 2024, feeling overwhelmed, emotional, and unsure how to help my dog Athena. Athena is a 2 year old, 57 lb, reactive shelter mix (German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, American Bully) with an unknown past. Athena is extremely reactive to dogs and very excitable to other moving beings (e.g., turkeys, runners, children). From the very first session, Andrea's warmth, deep knowledge, and genuine care brought me hope and clarity on a journey that had previously felt isolating and hopeless. Andrea customized every private session to meet Athena's specific needs. She even opened the center early to minimize triggers, regularly checked in by text between sessions, met with me during the week to answer my questions, and gave us clear, structured homework that we built on week after week. Her guidance helped me reframe Athena's behavior and gave us practical tools to manage reactivity on walks and at home. She also brings in up-to-date research during training, which helped me understand the "why" behind Athena's behaviors. To take a truly holistic approach, she connected us with a behavioral vet who helped us explore medication as part of Athena's plan. One unforgettable milestone was when Athena maintained engagement with me while Andrea brought her dog Maggie in and out of the room. I cried tears of joy watching Athena stay focused and regulated! She's now graduated into the Reactive Dog Guardians Unite group class and is doing so well! What really sets The Hub apart is not just the excellent training, but the incredible community that Andrea and co-owner Chris have built. They go out of their way to connect dog owners facing similar challenges and create a space that feels welcoming, supportive, and empowering. Their membership also includes great training resources and community events--all at a very reasonable rate. I would highly recommend The Hub to any dog owner. It is a truly wonderful and impactful place for both dogs and their people!

The monthly subscription fees are $100, or $75 if you don't plan to bring a dog. The positive caveat is that having a subscription makes their community events free. I think it's well worth the price if you plan to attend more than three community events, since each one will cost you around $30! The membership also includes 15 minute expert sessions, which I assume are training-adjacent sessions where you get tips on how to train your dog for specific actions and behaviors. you also get some discount at other stores in the mall with a membership here. The staff here are expert dog trainers, and are extremely knowledgeable about all things dog-related. I would 100% feel comfortable letting my dog hang out here for extended periods of time, since I feel confident about the staff's ability to handle dogs. They also provide dog training for 1-on-1 as well as group sessions. They're actively adding services and packages, and very open to suggestions. I previously brought up a desire for day passes, since I'm not consistently in San Ramon for months at a time, and I was pleasantly surprised to see they've added it a few weeks later! This establishment is fairly new and just opened in late June/early July 2024. The website (packanimals.com) is a little bit difficult to navigate. If you are interested in bringing your dog to co-work, they have to first pass a behavioral test/evaluation for an additional $40 and 30 minutes of your time. Pet owners will also have to make sure their dogs have all 3 core vaccines (Rabies, DA2PP, and Bordetella) and show proof before attending the in person evaluation. They do not list these prerequisites on the website, so I ended up spending some time coordinating on the phone with Chris and Andrea (the owners). They are one of the rare businesses that will pick up the phone right away, which I definitely appreciate.

Had the opportunity to participate in an intro class today, and it was amazing! Great staff, so kind, caring and helpful. I love that they offer coworking and dog sitting along with the training.

Around when our pup, Koda, turned 6-7 months old, he started becoming reactive to other dogs out of uncontrollable excitement. He would bark, lunge, whine and it was so hard to break his fixation on whatever was triggering him. It was like fate that we met Andrea while we were doing self-training with Koda at The City Center. She came up to us and told us that she and her husband just opened up The Hub and told us to come check it out after Id voiced what we were going through with Koda. I was hesitant at first, but decided to give it a try since we were looking to get him into training anyways. Safe to say we haven't looked back since! The Hub offers a multitude of classes available for your furbaby- from teaching them how to settle in a restaurant to having stress free greetings. It is on a monthly subscription which I loved, compared to private trainers that offer per session trainings. It's easy to book classes to work around your schedule and most (if not all) classes are included in your monthly subscription. After 2 months of taking Koda to classes at The Hub, we've seen SO much progress in his reactivity. We're able to get him to break his fixation and stay focused on us, he barks less at other dogs, and his settling has gotten so much better. I would recommend The Hub to anyone who is looking to work on their dogs reactivity, exposure training for puppies, or even dogs that have anxiety and are quiet. There is something for every type of dog.

The initial consultation went very well, and I learned so much about dog communication and how to better support Peaches. I also learned that she is a highly anxious dog, which explained many of the challenges I had been concerned about. We enrolled in Gary's six-week program and finished with the tools and knowledge needed to keep Peaches on the right track toward recovery. Just like humans, dogs rehabilitate at their own pace, and over those six weeks Peaches made significant progress. We're looking forward to enrolling in advanced training once she's ready so she can enjoy more freedom off-leash. Gary is not like other trainers we've worked with. He doesn't rely on obedience-based shortcuts or gimmicks. Instead, he teaches you how to work through real situations and explains the theory behind his approach so you truly understand what's happening and how to handle stressful moments. From day one, it was clear he knows his stuff and loves what he does. A lot of the time, Giorgi was too overwhelmed to participate. On day 1, Giorgi hid under a table the whole session. But that's ok because Gary was really training us. By the last session, Giorgi was walking around, watching other dogs and people walk by, and still listening to commands. Gary taught us how to help Giorgi feel safe, calm him down when he's stressed, and build trust. We've already seen such a difference at home. Gary is knowledgeable, patient, direct (in the best way), funny, and available when you have questions. He celebrated every little win with us! If you have a dog with anxiety or fear, seriously, go to Gary. He's the real deal.

Riesling is a 3-year-old miniature poodle--super smart, but she struggles with separation anxiety and can be a bit reactive when strangers enter our home. After our first lesson, Riesling had already learned sit, stay, come, and touch. During our second lesson, we reinforced those skills and began working on her reactivity. Annalise came to our home and showed me easy, effective strategies to prevent issues before they arise, always with kindness. My favorite part of her training style is that it's entirely based on positive reinforcement--no punishments, no techniques that feel harsh or uncomfortable. Riesling genuinely enjoys our training sessions, especially the high-value cheese treats. Annalise is incredibly patient, not only with Riesling but with me as well. She takes the time to explain the "why" behind every exercise, and she provides detailed printouts of each lesson so I don't have to take notes during training. It really allows you to stay present and focused. I highly recommend Athens Dog Training to anyone needing support with their reactive dog. Annalise is truly wonderful. We were able to achieve our end goal of walking off-leash with him. In my mind, I had thought it was going to take years for your dog to know not to run off once they are free. (probably PTSD from when my previous family dog, Lucky, who, if he escaped the backyard, it will take forever for him to come back because he thinks that me chasing him is a game.) But Grace really was thorough in giving us the tools and time we needed to get Hershey accustomed to being off-leashed. Seeing how Hershey is more relaxed now as well, we now no longer think we need to attend obedience classes. We are so lucky we went with Grace!

I don't know where we would be with our fearful Taiwan Dog if I had not reached out to Grace!…read more Cruz arrived in early February 2021 and we immediately knew he was unlike any dog we had had before. For the first week, he wouldn't come out of his crate, we had to carry him outside to potty, he would barely venture out of his crate even to eat, and he most definitely was not going on any walks; while everyone else's Taiwan Dog seemed to come around much quicker or almost instantly, Cruz was extremely scared and not looking to bond with us anytime soon. Everyone told us "they will come around with love and patience" but I could tell it was going to take more work than that, and we weren't about to let months or years go by without being proactive with him. With Grace's training, we have learned how to truly bond with Cruz, and how to help him relax in situations where he is scared. We know how to "read" him and anticipate how to react/respond to help him. I love that her focus is on emotion coaching our dog (something coincidentally enough we are also working on with our children) and helping our dog help himself so he can work through his fears in any situation. Her understanding of fearful street dogs is profound; she really knows how they think, why they are reactive and how to calm them in stressful situations. Cruz continues to grow exponentially every week. The dog who wouldn't come out of his crate 5 months ago now loves to jog, hike and camp. He wakes up every morning full of wags and kisses for us, happily gets in the car to go somewhere, and [drum roll please] we just had our first very successful beach trip with him where he was so excited to play with us and the other dogs there, he didn't show any signs of fear, he happily walked up to other humans to say hello, was off-leash most of the time, and he knew his boundaries and always came to us to "check in". He still has work to do but at the rate he is growing, he will far exceed our expectations of the perfect family dog. Our family highly recommends Grace!
