Puptown actually did my dog Hans and I a huge favor. I had previously scheduled boarding for Hans at a competing facility back in January in preparation for a trip to Japan in May. However, when we arrived at the facility the day before my flight to Japan, that facility told me that Hans boarding was being denied due to him having a heart murmur condition. Even though I had been a loyal customer to this facility for over 10 years, and that my flight to Japan was less than 24 hours away, and that they waited until I was at the checkin desk in order to inform me of the denial, representatives of this facility stated that there was nothing they could do and that they were simply following company policy. So me saying that Puptown literally saved my trip is a huge understatement. With no paperwork, and no pre-qualifying evaluation, Puptown took in Hans, heart murmur and all, and treated him like a prince. We were in a total bind, with our 8 month old Golden needing care. He was two weeks post neuter and was needing extra care while he continued to mend. Shasta and her team have been taking such good care of our boy. He comes home happy and tired. And his recovery site continues to mend- even while getting all the play time. They put his cone on during the rest periods, when he's unsupervised in the kennel. The update that Shasta shared after I shared my honest review & injury photos of my dog being bit by another dog is all lies. Not once did our dog instigate a fight. He has never done that ever. And he's been trained by numerous professionals since he was 8 months old. He was 3 when this injury happened. So I know for a fact it wasn't because he was "insecure" or "untrained". He spent a year training with a specialist that only trains Rhodesian Ridgebacks. We spent thousands on his training. So to blame our dog for their lack of care is incredibly frustrating. The fact is they were understaffed (which they admitted to in an email correspondence), they also let the dogs play too rough (which I've noticed from previous videos they posted on their FB) AND they don't correct the behavior of the more aggressive dogs. So if your dog is a sweetheart like ours, DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I wanted to leave a review for Shasta and her team to reassure everyone that they are very in depth in making sure all the dogs that they have in their group play program are well screened and evaluated. We just adopted a dog from the pound two weeks ago and are just getting to know all of his behaviors. He has been gentle with our kids and other kids and friendly to dogs on the trail that he has interacted with as well as our cats. He is generaly submissive so we were not worried about any issues in group paly. When we took him in for evaluation he was rejected for group care due to rough play style (not instinctive aggression but not knowing how to control himself once he started to play). Shasta spent 30 minutes talking to us about the behavior how to find trainers, what to look for in a trainer and pathways to address the behavior. She did not need to spend that much time helping us figure out how to address this behavior that we were unaware of. She made the right call to make sure all the other dogs in her program are safe and helped get us on a pathway to make sure our dog is well trained. I saw other reviews that were upset about Puptown not taking care to make sure dogs were a good fit and wanted to give a first hand account as someone who was not a good fit that they put in the work to create a safe environment for all dogs. We look forward to coming back for solo boarding and hope in the future our pup will be able to participate in group care once he gets the right training. read more

What can I say., I love Puptown!! My dog is not easy.. she's one part old lady and 1 part terrible two's!!! I really thought she would get kicked out her first day.. We use Puptown regularly and have had great experience with their services. Our dog, Moki, is not an easily excitable guy but he gets so excited when we approach Puptown and he knows what's in store. We even moved an hour away from their location, but still use their boarding services since we have not been able to find a similar doggie boarding near us. The staff are nice, Moki has fun, and we feel he is in good hands when we are away. We follow him on Facebook through their website so we can see how he is doing. He is an intermittant boarder but they always know him by name when he arrives. My review is based on interactions with the staff. The intake forms online were relatively straightforward. I got a call from the staff and brought my dog to basically do a test run. Not bad if your dog is older. My dog is young and has alot of energy. With that said, he can get over stimulated. Puptown kicked him out!!!!! Because he gets "overstimulated" I was concerned until I took him to another location (while I still train him), he is socialized however at 15 months he does have lots of energy. I tried Dog Time in San Leandro, I had no problems with him being "stimulated". I also went to Wag Hotel in Oakland as they are closer to my work. He went a whole week with no issues. So at the end of day, I'm not really sure why my pet had an issue at Pup town. He shouldn't be the sole reason as to being kicked out. I'm happy that my pet doesn't have any issues at the two other places. AND BOTH places have cameras so you are able to watch your pet!! So if there is an issue you can see how it's handled and what caused an issue. Both places, Dog Time & Wag Hotel take pictures as well to show you progress if in case you can't watch the cameras and they were clean, no dog smell. Chloe has been so clingy and needy the last couple of years. I worried how she would do so we started by doing 1/2 days during the week. She did great, the team at Puptown is always so welcoming and good to her. We had gone to a dog friendly hotel and she did great the first time, the 2nd time, I was gone for 2 hours and she chewed through her travel crate, her harness and was howling. The last time, she lost it when I tried to leave the room to get a cup of coffee. Needless to say it's made both of us anxious. I did an overnight to help us both out (yea I have been clingy and needy myself it seems)- I was nervous all day waiting for the call to come get her - it never came. Thought it's time for an update. Koda my dog is 1.5 years now and still regularly attends dog daycare to Play with the staff and his doggy friends! If your dog is bored at home while you're at work or trying to work from home, puptown is so great and gets the energy out of your dog! Puptown reinforces your dogs training that you are already working on. Puptown posts on Facebook what your dog is up to. Puptown sends you a report card on how your dog is doing. The staff and owner shasta are amazing and work closely with you to ensure your dog has a good time during the day, but also helps you with what you should work on at home. Shasta is quick to respond and attentive. Puptown has a large space for the dogs to run around, but keeps them separated depending on which dogs they play well with, size, etc. they are very observant of your dogs and want to ensure your dogs are having fun but are also keeping safe. Puptown is perfect if the air quality is bad outside or the weather is super hot since it's in a large indoor space.
