Alfie in a Puptown Facebook post.
Emma S.

We were in a total bind, with our 8 month old Golden needing care. He was two weeks post neuter and was needing extra care while he continued to mend. Shasta and her team have been taking such good care of our boy. He comes home happy and tired. And his recovery site continues to mend- even while getting all the play time. They put his cone on during the rest periods, when he's unsupervised in the kennel. We're very grateful Puptown was able to take Alfie and allow us to get back to work knowing he was in very capable hands. Each team member we've spoken to has been so kind and have answered all our questions, really putting us at ease. Looking forward to using them for more sporadic daycare (when he's done healing) and then for boarding when we take trips. Thank you Puptown!

My dog was bite at doggie daycare and the ER doctor had to insert a drain so my dog didn't get sepsis!

The update that Shasta shared after I shared my honest review & injury photos of my dog being bit by another dog is all lies. Not once did our dog instigate a fight. He has never done that ever. And he's been trained by numerous professionals since he was 8 months old. He was 3 when this injury happened. So I know for a fact it wasn't because he was "insecure" or "untrained". He spent a year training with a specialist that only trains Rhodesian Ridgebacks. We spent thousands on his training. So to blame our dog for their lack of care is incredibly frustrating. The fact is they were understaffed (which they admitted to in an email correspondence), they also let the dogs play too rough (which I've noticed from previous videos they posted on their FB) AND they don't correct the behavior of the more aggressive dogs. So if your dog is a sweetheart like ours, DO NOT GO HERE.

Pup town is awesome! My pup is happy and excited to walk in the door. I believe the staff value my pup and they have a genuine care for her. Shasta, the owner, knows dogs and ensures her staff are trained and proficient in positive handling and training techniques. The spaces for the dogs are clean, stimulating, and staffed well for oversight of the pups. Pup Town is my goto when I can't have my pup with me.

My two young dogs absolutely loooooove Puptown!! I started bringing them here last year when I adopted them from the shelter. I like that there are options for either half day or full day for daycare. They also offer grooming services and neighborhood walks. The staff post pictures and videos of the dogs there daily. The owner, Shasta, gave very constructive advice to me on how to be a better dog parent. All the staff members are friendly and professional. I really appreciate hearing little stories about how my dogs when I picked them up. That tells me they are attentive and really care about all the dogs in their care. My dogs and I definitely recommend Puptown for daycare and boarding needs.

What can I say., I love Puptown!! My dog is not easy.. she's one part old lady and 1 part terrible two's!!! I really thought she would get kicked out her first day.. I waited for the " come get her phone call!" I never got the call.. what I did get was a picture of my grouchy dog sitting on a pillow in the office! Shasta and her staff understood my dog! Even gave me some tips on dealing with her bad behavior. Puptown really does care for your dog! They have been a lifesaver for me with doggie daycare. It worked out so well that I booked an overnight stay for my dog. Puptown even had a extra services I could get for my dog. A bath, nail trim and clean her ears! and the prices are reasonable! Highly recommend!! Thank you Puptown!!!

My review is based on interactions with the staff. The intake forms online were relatively straightforward. I got a call from the staff and brought my dog to basically do a test run. Unfortunately, he didn't pass, which I am so bummed about. We got him from the shelter and he's still in his puppy mode. He's so sweet around humans but is like a Tasmanian devil with dogs. But, nonetheless the staff was pleasant and understanding. I wanted to thank the staff for the opportunity to meet Mr. Phil!

When we take Luna to Puptown, she literally jumps out of the car and runs to the door. She comes home tired from having so much fun.

The professionalism and structure they bring is unmatched. They manage their facility much like a children's daycare, every dog is carefully evaluated before being welcomed into the community, vaccinations must be up to date, and safety is clearly their top priority. The facility is incredibly clean, organized, and thoughtfully run. We also love all the extras they offer. From different levels of boarding (the highest tier even includes a special tuck-in and Kong treat!) to dog training, bathing, nail trimming, and their fully engaging playrooms, complete with Dog TV, play structures, bubbles, pool days, and themed activities, it's clear they go above and beyond to make every stay fun and enriching. They even include webcams for us parents to check in on them from time to time! Our doggie Herkules absolutely LOVES his Dogtime family. It is truly his home away from home, and he gets so excited every time we pull into the parking lot. As very particular dog parents, trust means everything to us -- and there is no place we trust more than Dogtime. Tony and Krista have done an incredible job since taking over the business. We couldn't have asked for a better first boarding experience and will 100% be booking again. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a place where their dog will be truly cared for.

It's like she remembers her early training again-- she sits on command, is quiet on command (now HOW did you do that??!!) and is just perfect!! Holy cow!! Roy sends pictures and videos every day so you know that she is safe and happy. I loved seeing her "tucked in" at night with the other pups. I have brought my dog to Happy Hound for over twelve years, after we tried another doggie day care…read more The staff at Happy Hound knows and cares about all the dogs, they have a thoughtful system for placing every dog in the appropriate group based on the dogs' energy level and temperament (mine is cranky with other dogs and wary of people), and the staff (all great) really understand how to accommodate different dogs -- no matter the size, breed or personality. For years my dog was there five days a week as I commuted into the City, and I always knew she was safe and happy there. Really the best facility for boarding dogs. M.A.B.

Update following the owner (Suzanne)'s response:…read more I appreciate the business taking the time to respond. I want to clarify a few points for transparency and for prospective customers considering Happy Hound. My concern was never the existence of a first-day assessment fee, but the value delivered. I have used dog daycares across NYC, Chicago, LA, and San Francisco and have never encountered one that charges more than a standard daycare day for a first-day evaluation. In many cases, the first day is complimentary. That context shaped my expectations going in. When I called to book, the 3:00pm time slot was the only option presented to me by Happy Hound. At no point during booking--or after the tour--was it communicated that the daycare credit would apply the same way regardless of whether my dog attended for a full day or only a couple of hours. Without that clarity, it is entirely reasonable for a new customer to assume that paying for a full day would result in receiving a full day of care. That is where the communication breakdown occurred. I am not disputing the sequence of events shared in the owner's reply. My concern is with the policy itself--specifically, requiring payment for a full day of daycare while not delivering a full day of service when scheduling limitations come from the business. The outcome was that I paid for care my dog did not receive. A prorated refund for the unused portion of that day would have been a reasonable, customer-oriented resolution. Sharing this simply so other prospective customers understand how the onboarding process and policies work in practice.

I'm so pleased to be able to update this review from 2010. How time flies!…read more Our dear Penny whom Shasta helped us with back then passed away in 2015. We started working with Shasta again in 2017 when we got our new pup, a border collie rescue. He came to us emaciated and poorly socialized, needing love and positive experiences to bring him out of his shell. Shasta gave us much-needed training advice, and from there her staff started walking Hugo on group walks, which he's done once a week since 2018. He enjoys these walks so much; they provide wonderful socialization experiences. All the treats and training in the world can get a dog so far, but a strong adult with a great pack really helps with confidence-building and calm. Hugo walks with Toni, who send us pictures of him each week with his crew. I can tell that Hugo is happy with Toni and his pack: as we release him to the car (to maintain social distancing), our pup who usually does not like to leave my side will happy run down the stairs to greet him and hop in the car! Shasta also runs Puptown for boarding. We've only needed this service once, but having been in there and knowing Shasta for so many years, I know that this would be a great resource as well. It has been a pleasure seeing Shasta grow this business for over a decade, and watch it continue to provide the same excellent service it did in the beginning. If you need training support, especially with difficult dogs, a weekly walking group, or more, Bow Wow is a great choice. Review from 2010 I love Shasta. She has walked our dog for well over a year. She been amazing. We have worked with four dog walking companies, and Shasta is a cut above. As a handler, Shasta knows dogs and dog behavior. We switched to her when we were having some behavioral problems with our dog at home, especially after walks. Shasta worked closely with Penny and we've seen huge improvements in her behavior. Last year our dog needed surgery; Shasta worked with us on her rehab, and continues to be conservative with her play to ensure that she stays strong. As a business person, Shasta has been great. She handled our initial interview, paperwork, and invoicing professionally. We LOVE her daily dog walk "reports"--these little report cards let us know how our dog was feeling, what she did, and (sorry for the detail) even if and how she pooped! Who could ask for more? Our dog loves Shasta, responds well to her, and behaves well at home after a walk with her. That's what matters most.

They're worth every penny. I'm not kidding when I say our dogs love them. When they hear the truck coming, they're raring to go. And they're the only ones we call when we need to board them. I cannot recommend them enough.
