When we take Luna to Puptown, she literally jumps out of the car and runs to the door. She comes home tired from having so much fun.

In December, we adopted a high energy, 7 month old puppy. We got her some training, but ultimately decided she needed a way to get her energy out and become more socialized with dogs. After doing some research on different doggie daycares in the area, we decided to try out Puptown. The staff has been so friendly and helpful the last three months. The owner, Shasta has gone out of her way to help with my dog, even spending her own time after work. My dog has become more calm, less reactive and a joy to walk in the neighborhood. I attribute all of this to the patience and care from Shasta and her crew at Puptown San Leandro. I would never think of leaving my dog at another facility. read more

Unfortunately no had a bad encounter with the owner. I was dropping off my pup for 2 days so I obviously asked ahead if he could have a bed or blanket and my husband was told yes our dog could. So today while struggling to hold the bed and food and my dog at the same time, some random person came up to me and said "we won't take the bed" and obviously I said "what" she then started passively aggressively saying that she is the owner and they won't accept the bed so then I mentioned to her that we called ahead of time and she said she doesn't care and she'll let her employees know not to do it again and that I could take my business else where if I don't like the policy. It obviously became heated and then she threatened to call the police because I decided to go in and confirm what she said about the bed policy. she then told me she does not want my business which is fine of course but this could have been avoided if she didn't decide to take out her anger for the day on a customer/client. She spoke to me with out introducing her self and was just very demanding while I was already struggling carrying the things in my hand and instead of redirecting her self after I said "what" she continued with the aggressiveness of no means no but perhaps further explanation of what she's talking about instead of talking to me in simple child like sentences in a degrading manner outside the place would have helped the situation. This is my second rude encounter with the owner. Maybe she's not use to people who actually take a stand for her bad behavior and I feel bad for the employees if she's like this with them. She definitely lost a customer and I will no longer recommend this business and let everybody who does come here already that I know what happened. 4.9 stars due to employees working hard and a shitty owner who prevents that extra point. Extra for the comment that supposedly I use derogatory words to put hate on the LGBTQ community PupTown I never even called you and you are telling a completely false story but of course it's my word against yours and yours against mine . Today, the owner took time to meet with me to show me video from my dog's stay, which helped me with closure. I appreciate her taking the time because the unknown of not knowing if my fur baby had suffered for the past few days, hindered my grieving process. After speaking with her and seeing the video from his stay, my grief can work towards a viewpoint of perhaps it was just his time. read more

Our family went on an impromptu vacation and we needed a place for Molly to be boarded. Puptown was recommended to us by her veterinarian. I called them and they had Molly come in for a social evaluation the same day. Which I thought was great! They want to be sure that the guests that stay there are okay to hang out with other pup friends. When I dropped Molly off for her evaluation Molly was very unsure. She of course was happy when I picked her up but when I took her back 2 days later she went inside just fine. Like she was happy to go see her friends again. Molly stayed for 4 days and looked great when I picked her up. She has separation anxiety and I was worried that she would not eat. Last time I took her to another "Dog hotel" She came back and was noticeably thinner. I definitely recommend Puptown for your fur babies. read more

Unfortunately I was unable to post the video, Max had quite a wiggle in his walk, and I was relieved to see that Max seemed at ease & not stressed out. I would definitely recommend Puptown to other family, friends, and loved ones, because the staff greets you as you enter the premises, they are very polite & courteous, they answer any questions that you might have or be concerned about, plus they make you feel very comfortable when you leave your fur baby in their care. read more

We LOVE Puptown! From the very first phone call with Shasta, the owner, to discuss their services, I was very impressed. Shasta was knowledgeable and thorough and a delight to speak with. Our fur baby, Molly, now goes there at least a couple of times a week for day care and has also boarded for a few nights. The team is amazing and Molly absolutely loves going. She is excited to get in and play with her friends from the moment we enter the parking lot. She never looks back to say "bye, mom." You can't go wrong with Shasta and her amazing team at Puptown. Long overdue review! We have been taking our pittie dog-son Amos to Puptown for over 3 years on an almost daily basis Monday through Friday, and we board him there as too. They treat our dog like their own family member. Amos can sometimes be a challenging but loving dog. He can sometimes be pushy, holds grudges, has a memory like an elephant, and isn't able to play with a lot of dogs. The handlers do a great job of making sure he gets his energy out and is mentally stimulated when they take him out. When there is a good playmate match for him, they make sure they get to play with each other. Amos has a few girlfriends at Puptown, let's hope they don't find out about each other! Puptown is also a super safe. Amos can be dog reactive so they taught us how to train him to wear a muzzle, so he could be introduced to new dog friends. Sometimes for special occasions, they send us home with a cute treat or picture of Amos- they're so thoughtful!! By the time he gets home, is happy and exhausted. Best of all, they update their Facebook page so we can keep up with all of the doggy shenanigans. They are honest and take ownership. There have been times where Amos might have gotten a bump or scratch from another dog or because he can sometimes be a jerk, and hey, stuff happens, they're animals! They take the time to email us and give us a heads up so we're not wondering what happened to him after the fact. We've boarded him during a few of our vacations and they have done an excellent job, I don't even think Amos notices that we left him! The handlers feed him his specific food and treats because he has tummy issues. My husband and I love Puptown and all of the handlers, and Amos does too. :) read more

We have taken Russell to Puptown for 3 years, only for boarding. My wife called to make an appointment for the weekend, and the owner proceeded to lecture and scold her, out of the blue: - He is a "demand barker" - He has separation anxiety - He is aggressive - We must bring him in more often This is the 1st time we have heard ANY of this feedback. When my wife said as much, the owner dismissed her curtly, INSISTING that they always provide an exit report. Let me say this AGAIN to the owner so it is clear: We have NEVER received an exit report for Russell. He IS a demand barker and DOES have separation anxiety. What is your point? We rescued him at 5 years old from East Bay SPCA. As with many rescues, he has issues. That is the WORST of his behavior, and we are grateful for such a sweet, mild, SUBMISSIVE, loving dog. When asked about his aggression and the circumstance behind it, she responded that he reacts when another dog gets aggressive with him. WHAT? -Blank, deer in the headlights expression- When the owner said we need to bring him in more often, she was flabberghasted. So, is this a NEW requirement? Your business doesn't accommodate once-in-a-while boarding any longer? My wife asked how often we need to bring him in and the response was "Weekly". WHAT? OUR ISSUES: DO NOT LECTURE and SCOLD your clients. You are dealing with adults who are paying for services...TREAT US WITH RESPECT. DO NOT DISMISS a client's response when they say they haven't received exit reports. LISTEN, and consider the possibility that we HAVEN'T in fact, received any! INSISTING that the dog be brought in more often? Um...this makes NO SENSE. Are you in business to service the needs of your clients? Our NEED is to board our dog while we are away...NOT for doggy daycare or play dates. IF you NO LONGER offer just BOARDING, then you may want to send a memo out to your customers, letting us know your menu has changed. You were condescending and rude. Get a hold of yourself and your obvious anxiety, and remember that you are a BUSINESS OWNER. Act like one. We will not be back, as there are plenty of other options, and Russell is a SWEET and MILD boy who deserves exceptional accommodation. Puptown is no longer that. read more

This place is awesome. I searched all around Oakland / San Leandro for pet sitting and this place is easily the most accommodating (I drop my pup off at 6:30am and have picked him up as late as 8pm). It's also nice that the price gets cheaper if you buy 10 or 20 visits at a time. I started bringing my pup pretty much as soon as he was 4 months old and it was really his first time being around other dogs and I really like that Puptown places the puppies with dogs whom they will interact well. I was delighted to see that my puppy was much more socialized than other, much older dogs during our first few sessions of puppy training. Initially I needed a doggy day care to make my new job work, but now my pup is old enough to come to the office with me every day, but I'm still planning on taking him to Puptown at least once a week because he really does love it. And everyone there seems to love him. It feels like I'm giving him a treat by bringing him there. The owner, Shasta, is pretty cool, too. Aside from her being really friendly, she also continually gives me great advice about how to be a good dog parent and have a well socialized dog. I can't say enough good things about this place. I highly highly recommend giving your pup a treat and bringing him / her to Puptown! You won't be disappointed!!! read more

PupTown is a wonderful dog loving place! My husband and I was blessed that a friend suggested PupTown to us. Being first-time dog parents of the sweetest pit bull in the world, we wanted to find a good place to board our dog over our 16-day vacation. Prior to our trip, we scheduled three half-day play dates at PupTown to acclimate our dog there as they advised. I could see they care about dogs and tune in to each one. They really get to know your dog and what works best for your dog. I'm so glad we learned about PupTown. It relaxed us to know our dog was in good hands with knowledgeable, caring people while we were traveling. Thru PupTown's Facebook page photos & videos we could see how our dog was doing. Our dog came home well and joyful after a two-week plus stay. PupTown rocks! While it's not the swankiest boarding place, it's a warmhearted dog village. P.s. Great experience with PupTown! I was really nervous about leaving my dog for a ten day stay especially when I never left him more than one day and that was with my parents. So I wouldn't just drop off my puppy in a unfamiliar place, I began to introduce him to PupTown a week and a half prior so he would feel a bit more comfortable. It worked! I cannot believe I haven't already reviewed puptown!! I thought I did but got to looking for my post and it's not here! Soooo, let me say this.... my boyz luv the place. It's our little every payday thing. So every 2 weeks, Shasta comes to the house (taxi service ) and picks up my boyz. Off they go to school (doggie day care). They have a wonderful time there and pictures are posted to Facebook. They can get a bath or nail trim too. Lil Man was having problems with his nails but my friends at Puptown were consistent and patient and now he's a once a month or so kind of guy. I would also like to say that what I really like about puptown is it's not on a busy road. They have a competitor in the area that I used to go to. But that busy road scared me half to death. I like my boyz being in a chill (sort of) neighborhood just in case the get loose. The road was the reason for me changing to puptown. Bottom line. But yes, I'm happy with puptown and am glad to give them a 5 star review. read more

This place is above and beyond. They really care about holistic dog health and go all the way to make sure each dog's unique needs are met.

We have been taking our puppy here for roughly 1x per week for the past year, and it's been amazing for us and for our pup! When we rescued our pup at 9 weeks old, she had a broken paw, and so was unable to socialize with other dogs during her critical socialization period. We started taking our pup here after she got her cast off, and the staff welcomed her with open arms! She learned how to "dog" here, she feels safe here, and she gets so excited whenever we pull into the parking lot! While they don't have live webcams, we are able to stay up to date with their frequent daily posts on instagram. It makes us feel good to know we're dropping our pup off somewhere where she is valued, treated well, and that she is excited about also! read more

Ollie Q has been coming to Puptown for over a year now. He absolutely loves the staff here. Each time I drop him off; he is making a dash towards the front door and is always so happy when greeted by members of the team. We were traveling out of country and in a bind to find boarding for our pups. Being an overly protective parent I had sever reservations about leaving my pups with anyone. My worries were quickly resolved upon seeing photos of the attention and intermingling with other dogs during their stay. It was the best 2 weeks away that I could have done for them. Puptown was absolutely amazing and we have better dogs as a result of this. I'm writing this from our local dog park which was never possible prior. They socialize and even climbed a ramp! We're so impressed that we are returning them once a week to keep the momentum going that puptown established and give us a break to do things that sometimes can be a challenge with pups.
