Ollie Q has been coming to Puptown for over a year now. He absolutely loves the staff here. Each time I drop him off; he is making a dash towards the front door and is always so happy when greeted by members of the team. Ollie gets to play all day long with the team members and his fur-friends. By the time we collect him; he is exhausted and ready to go to bed! We also board Ollie with Puptown and he settles in well. Ollie has fear aggression and the team member works with him/and with us to help ease his anxiety. read more

We were traveling out of country and in a bind to find boarding for our pups. Being an overly protective parent I had sever reservations about leaving my pups with anyone. My worries were quickly resolved upon seeing photos of the attention and intermingling with other dogs during their stay. It was the best 2 weeks away that I could have done for them. Puptown was absolutely amazing and we have better dogs as a result of this. I'm writing this from our local dog park which was never possible prior. They socialize and even climbed a ramp! We're so impressed that we are returning them once a week to keep the momentum going that puptown established and give us a break to do things that sometimes can be a challenge with pups. Please rest assured that puptown will provide better care than anyone else in the Bay Area. read more

Thankful we found a place our Kona girl loves to go play at which is also a safe place for her to board. Staff are all kind and know the doggies and dog parents. Close to home is a plus for us. Thank you Pup Town! read more

My 5-year-old dog has been attending puptown since he was a puppy. We just recently boarded him for 5 days so we can take a family vacation. This was a huge step for us because he takes 10 pills a day for a heart issue. The puptown staff was professional in guiding me through the process of setting up everything I needed to do to ensure that my dog received his medicine daily and on time. This place cares for your dog as if it was their own dog and I have nothing but high praises to say about the staff and the ownership of Puptown read more

Wish I could give more stars. I bring my 3 year old Shepherd here and have since he was 4 months old. He loves it here and always comes home exhausted. He is always happy to see the crew, especially Victoria, who he has taken as one of his people. Take your dog here. They take good care of them. Also, best pricing for the area. read more

OMG they are the best!! Bailey my 10month old Boston Terrier loves coming to socialize at least once a week. I'm also leaving her for the first time overnight this month but am not worried because I know they love what they do and Bailey will be taken care of as if she were home. I am so happy I found puptown for her home away from home! read more

Puptown...in a word, fantastic. You can't go wrong having your best friend stay here. Drop by or call to make an appointment and you'll see. The people are great and the place is clean. Set it up to bring your buddy's favorite eats and treats and staff will take care of the rest. Seriously, Puptown really IS uptown for your dog. (Not only did I not receive anything for this endorsement, my own dog didn't make the cut to get in.) read more

Puptown is a godsend. Shasta and her team are communicative and very organized. Puptown has a diverse group of dogs, including large / high energy which are a perfect match for our 10-month old Australian Shepherd (read: crazy!). After a day at Puptown, he's tired and happy. I couldn't ask for a better experience and would highly recommend. read more

Couldnt ask for a better facility and crew to care for our fur-babies! Thank you Shasta & Team

We have been customers at PupTown for years and have been consistently impressed. The staff love dogs and it shows, our two dogs love to go to daycare there! The facility is always clean, their COVID protocols have been excellent over the past two years and I know my fur babies are in good hands when we leave them at PupTown, either for daycare or for an extended boarding visit. read more

Thank you for your response as we appreciate the dialogue and the opportunity to hear your perspective. A manager offered him the job at the end of his interview on that prior Friday. He was instructed to arrive for the 6:30 AM -2:30 PM shift on Monday. He was advised on what to wear (old clothes that he didn't mind getting dirty). In addition to being told how the dogs would react to him, he was told what to expect during his training. He walked and arrived early for his shift. He was let in by an employee who obviously expected his arrival. After being trained for a couple of hours the owner (I believe that to be you) arrived. He introduced himself. Our understanding is that the owner was given positive feedback about his performance. The owner then made an excuse about there being some confusion about the shift already being filled. He was paid for the hours he was there, and told to reapply for the later shift and let go. At no time did the owner say anything to him about his references. This feedback was titled "odd hiring practices" for the following reasons: normally references are confirmed before the job offer is extended. Generally, employers see early arrival as positive but at your business it's a detriment. He followed all directions (arrived on time, wore recommended clothing and did well during the training). Since he was clearly already hired, suggesting that he reapply for a later shift is a non-standard approach as well, especially if it was just references that were needed. If Manager on Friday should have cleared the hiring with you, then you have a training issue to address with that person. To fire him for no real reason and then blame him in your posted response speaks volumes about you. Again, we appreciate the dialogue. We will have no additional responses. All the best to you. *************** Odd hiring practices here. My friends' teenage son was hired here as his first job. He arrived early for his 6:00 AM shift. The lady that was training him said he was doing a good job on that first day. He was excited and looked forward to working there over the summer. The owner arrived hours later, and all of the sudden he wasn't hired anymore for the early shift. The owner said the manager was confused and wasn't supposed to hire him for that shift. There was another shift available. Instead of offering him that shift, the owner says that he would now have to reapply! Seems odd that the manager didn't know that she couldn't hire. Or maybe the owner didn't like the way my friends son looked? We all love this young man. This didn't sit well with his extended family and friends. After many conversations (because this happened a couple months ago) we just now decided to post this rating. Unprofessional hiring practices with a poor example and experience for this young man. read more

Our Mac was a bit shy on her first day going to Puptown. Now, she runs for the door because she knows she is going to spend the day with her friends. We've seen her gain so much confidence and happiness since going to Puptown and appreciate the great, personal care each team member gives to her. We love getting her report card and getting tips about how we can support her in learning and growing. We trust the team at Puptown and are so thankful for their care and expertise. read more

I was nervous leaving my puppy for a weekend but a coworker recommended this place so I gave it a try. Did not disappoint! The staff are extremely dog knowledgeable, friendly and wonderful. I am completely comfortable leaving my pup here in the future. It's not convenient to where I live but my dog being well taken care of and happy is much more important than close proximity. Recommend recommend highly recommend! We haven't been here in a while but we used to take Logan here every weekday for 3 years when we lived on that side of the East Bay. We're in the tri-valley now and really miss Shasta and her wonderful team! We know Logan misses Puptown too! Trustworthy, accountable, fun and our pooch was always sleepy and exhausted when he came home. For a Belgian Mal/Dobie mix that is great when we're exhausted and want to relax as well at the end of the day. Keep up the great work Puptown! read more

I called this place Saturday last min on a vacation last minute get away. I was able to schedule a reservation for 2 days. The staff was very helpful and they were open arms for our frenchie Gigi. Overall they did a wonderful job and I would definitely recommend Puptown. She made new friends humans and puppers. She also came home well behaved, she has a minor issue she needs to work on other than that they kept me up to date on her and her behavior via report card! I will definitely be using this place in the future for vacations or last minute boarding! Thank you so much Puptown for giving me peace of mind on my vacation read more

We boarded our lil guy, Taz, twice at Puptown. We have never boarded a fur baby before so I was a bit anxious, but both experiences were a success. The most recent trip was a last minute booking but the staff accommodated us without question. On the way there Taz was very excited, which further showed how much fun he had during his first stay. Jasmine and Mari both were completely amazing and made me feel like Taz was in such loving hands so I was able to go away for the weekend without worry. Upon pick-him up, Jasmine said Taz was a bit more vocal in the crate than he had been so she took the time and effort to put on some 80s pop music for him, which calmed him down. They truly seem to love Taz and that makes all of the difference in the worlds to me. read more

PUPTOWN! If you didn't know I have a great adopted dog. Sometime when I travel I need a place to keep my best-est bitch in the world. My female dog need to be socialized and be watched by people who are able of doing so. In comes puptown not the best location but it's a large warehouse that houses a bunch of different type of dogs. They have a few different area and allow for overnight boarding of dogs. They were kind enough to give me a full tour of the place. I did like how large the place was and noticed it has mats for the dogs so they won't slip and slide all over the place. My dog had a great time here and the staff is very friendly. I will be ongoing use them for there dog caring services Keep up the great work Puptown read more

My little pup has been going to doggie daycare for several years and we recently left his old school and began going to Puptown. Boy, am I glad we switched! What a BIG difference! Hands down, the BEST doggie daycare provider in San Leandro! Not only are the Puptown employees CONSTANTLY undergoing training classes, they also have an actual schedule of daily activities for pups. The dogs have nap time, training time, play time, snack time...and they also have dress up theme days (which oddly enough the pups really, really love- check out their Facebook page). The staff is polite, well-trained, enthusiastic and incredibly attentive and very, very loving towards the dogs. The facility is always clean and maintained...and the owner is always present and standards are consistent...standards of which include Puptown being CPR and first-aid certified. At the end of the day, my pup comes home VERY happy and tired from a good playtime. Most importantly, he's safe and I don't have to worry about him. If you're considering doggie daycare and you're in San Leandro...visit Puptown. It's the only place you should take your dog. read more

Hi. I. am. crazy. about. my. dogs. So as long as you know that, you know that I must trust someone implicitly to let them watch over my pups. I've known the owner, Shasta Marlowe, for many years. Few people are as knowledgeable about canines and their behavior as Shasta is. She is the most alpha human being in the world (this is a great thing!) - she has a quiet presence and a seriously take charge energy that dogs respond to really well!! Anyway, I have a rather large pack and two of my dogs needed to go into boarding and so I brought them to Shasta's amazing Puptown! It's in a giant warehouse in San Leandro and it is doggy heaven! The packs are separated by size - my guys are smaller so they hang out with the littles in their own pen while the larger dogs have their own pen. The place is immaculately clean. One of my guys had a bit of a challenge adjusting to so many dogs - he developed a little bit of a tummy upset from stress. Shasta was quick to contact me and put him on an appropriately bland diet to relieve his tummy. She also made sure he was comfortable and put him in a smaller area so he could get used to so much action. With her sure guidance, he bounced back and became much more comfortable and happy. Shasta has a secret weapon of doggie delight named Chris who both my pups adore. Chris was there when I dropped my boys off and they both remembered her from their previous stay and did not even look back as I left - they were so happy to see her!! They post regular pictures of the pack all day on Facebook so it's fun to peek in and see how your pooches are doing. They even posted a picture of my sweet boy Peanut giving a little smooch to Chris! So nice to see him happy and so well loved!!! I cannot recommend Puptown enough - your dog will come home happy, tired and even a little more well behaved! read more

Found this place on Yelp! The facilities are very nice and I felt very comfortable with the experience and professionalism of the owner and staff. Great local small business to support. I brought my dog to get evaluated if they would take her on, after they tried her with different dogs they allowed me to check out the dog area. There seems to be a good system in place to keep all the animals and staff happy and safe. There are many different packages and programs for dogs of all sizes. read more

I cannot stress enough the value of puppy playtime and socialization. The owners, Katherine and Shasta, are wonderful. They (including their staff) give you a daily account of your dog's activity. For example, they observed how well your dog(s) plays with other dogs, personalities, some behavior issues that may need addressing (I really appreciate this one), etc. Let's face it, taking your fur-baby to doggy day care can be a high anxiety experience for many pet parents. Just from speaking with Katherine, Shasta and staff, I can tell how closely they supervise playtime and they give individualized attention to each dog. They take the time to observe and understand the personality and needs of each dog. Fergus is a highly active and reactive puppy less than 6 months of age when I took him to Puptown. He was crazy, still is, but I knew that there is a good, loving dog inside him. I have occasional mobility issues, so it is a challenge keeping up with his high manic energy from time-to-time. From experience with my prior dogs, it took more than walking to tire this puppy out. Believe me, this is my 4th dog of the same breed. I truly appreciate Shasta. She took the time to share her thoughts with me about what I should play attention to with respect to training issues and habits to break. I am enjoying the pleasure to listening to Chris, Toni, Zack and Alden share with me their observations of Fergus's day at day care. They really got to know my dog and appreciate what he has to offered as a playmate to other dogs under Puptown's care. Makes me feel proud as Fergus' "Mom". He comes home passed out until the next morning. Fergus is still "crazy" (I nicknamed him "Godzilla's # 1 Son" to this day). But I wouldn't trade the experience at Puptown for anything. My boy is happy and so am I. read more

We love Puptown, our dogs love them even more! They always come back exhausted from all the playing, and even more well-mannered each time we pick them up. Absolutely love the time they put into basic training along with the playtime. We also love the pictures and videos they upload to their Facebook page throughout the day so we can follow along. All the staff are friendly and so great. We appreciate the feedback they give us at the end of the day (interesting stories, bad moments, new friends, etc) which puts us at ease and excited for the next time we drop them off. I've been avoiding writing a review for Puptown because I'm greedy and selfish and I'm afraid that they'll get so booked up I won't be able to take my 2 dogs there anymore. My 2 dogs are "crazy". I call them "rabid monkeys". I share custody of the dogs with my ex (we get along fine), so training is inconsistent, and basically the dogs are poorly behaved because I'm a horrible dog mom. One of them barks like he just got tasered whenever he sees another dog while I walk him on leash. My other dog is basically fine, he just eats everything while unattended...pens, socks, stuff from the trash bin, etc. Before Puptown, I was stressed out for years. I was ashamed that I had to teach people how to muzzle the crazy barker. Before Puptown, I got by with friends that really like dogs, grew up with dogs, and are comfortable with crazy dogs. One day I put a shout out to my friends on facebook because my dog walker had an emergency. An old coworker of mine introduced me to Puptown and basically saved my life! I explained that one of the dogs goes nuts around other dogs. My friend said that Shasta (one of the owners of Puptown), is an expert with crazy dogs. I was desperate, I gave it a shot. Shasta evaluated the situation and to make a long story short, the dogs are fine. They just act crazy around me...their crazy mom. I can live with that! They are totally fine around other dogs, and I feel so relieved to have met Shasta. Both she and Katherine, the other owner of Puptown, are fantastic with my K9 kids. My dogs are in excellent hands. I know they are safe and getting good attention. They let me know how they behaved during the day and sometimes post pictures of them on their fb page. Shasta and Katherine are life savers! I highly recommend Puptown. We have had very positive experiences over the years. About 5 years ago, we brought our 12-year Springer Spaniel, who had mobility issues and separation anxiety. Shasta and team gave him the attention and love he needed and made us feel so much better about leaving him during long trips. Last spring we started bringing our new pup, Pepper. In the beginning she was very shy with both dogs and people. In less than a year of weekly daycare visits she has completely changed. She now loves meeting and playing with dogs and she is far less skittish around people. We couldn't ask for more. Whether we are boarding Pepper or just bringing her in for weekly socialization, we know that we can trust the staff at Puptown to take great care of her! read more

So happy to have found PupTown! Shasta is doing an amazing job, and she puts so much energy into every dog...I think it's unfair to limit Puptown to the daycare/boarding category, Roadie got lots of positive behavior reinforcement! Initially, he was assessed for a couple of hours, to determine his social skills...Shasta and her team determined that he did better with the smaller dogs, which made sense since his breed is used to herd...The posts of pics and videos were very reassuring for us! The last place we were boarding Roadie never even took his blanket out of the bag we brought it in! It was great seeing him play under supervision, we loved that they not only used his blanket to help him have something familiar that smelled like home, but at the end of the 4 days, I think they even washed it! My only regret is that we didn't find PupTown sooner read more

Pup Town and Shasta are great! Shasta was able to accommodate a very last minute boarding. Thanks Shasta!

Shasta helped out with my puppy and she was so knowledgable about dogs it blew my mind! In fact, it seems like she knows more than our vet (well our former vet, that's a whole other story ) ! She is AMAZING!! Just when we thought our puppy was bad and not trained yet and bratty and stubborn; she gave us hope and accepted her into puptown after her evaluation. Now, we're even more determined and hopeful our puppy will turn out to be behaved and wonderful. She has so many tips!!! Like I didn't even know there was solutions to certain things, there are things that I never even thought about and she had solutions for. She knew doggy life hacks. Puptown - Hi, I'm Mikaela and I love puptown! - Dog Walkers Near Me - San Leandro, California

OK. First of all, we know that businesses do pay people to write great reviews. So, you should be wary of a business that has a 5-star Yelp rating coupled with 50 reviews. No one has that except a business with fake reviews ...or 50 really, really great friends. Dog owners that did give a good review: Do you REALLY understand what goes on behind that front desk? I arrived for a tour. Waited and waited. The person that took care of me never introduced herself. She was friendly and offered me a seat, but asked if I brought my dog's food. Why would I bring food for a tour? And, why wasn't it brought up when I booked it? After this person finally completed her OTHER work 20 mins later, she finally took my dog to the play area for observation. He's 7. This isn't his 1st rodeo. Been to many daycares as I've moved. But....my dog had just gone through a stressful medical situation while separated from me. When he entered Puptown's play area w/o me, he started crying loudly. I called one of the workers out and explained. (BTW, when I finally got to see the play area at the end of an HOUR, it was cold, smelled unclean like urine, and did not seem inviting like the pics online.) After a few mins, the woman came out. I confirmed she had gotten my message about what happened to my dog. Then she said "Um....he definitely has separation anxiety....(pause...as if she is about to deliver some mind blowing idea that I've been waiting to hear all my life).... "Have you thought about working on his issues at home by....". I stopped her right there. I JUST told her he has NEVER done this before. Yet, she proceeded to give me pointers on how to fix his non-existent separation anxiety disorder? I tried to make the best of my hour there by making small talk, trying to find things in common with the woman with no name, but every chance she had, criticized my dog parenting.... "Have you considered...?" ..."Have you thought about____?"...."What we do here is try to provide advice.". First, I did not book a consultation on how to improve myself and my dog. I know my dog. You don't. I've had many dogs and this one is special. He's a really good boy. I made him a therapy dog so he can be a joy to others. He should be allowed to have a bad day and express himself once in a while...and that is NOT a reflection of me as a dog owner. Second, you don't just start spouting things at people w/o knowing them. You ask about their background and WHY they came in. Nameless woman would've found out that 1) I have a degree, not some trainer certificate, in Behavioral Analysis. 2.) Her techniques for children, like timeout, don't work for dogs crying like she thought. That would be for an aggressive dog that actually enjoyed being there. Removing a crying dog that doesn't want to be there is a REWARD for the dog. Duh. Other observations: Not nearly enough staff (2 people for 20-30 dogs maybe?), dogs sitting in crates off to the side. One puppy was in a cage crying. We can leave our dogs in crates at home. We pay you so they don't have to be in them. Sadly, the puppy is probably elated to be picked up by its owner and the owner thinks "Wow! You look happy. You must've had a great time!". And, the answer as to why all those other dogs were in crates didn't add up. Not having cameras was a problem for me as well. I miss my dogs when I'm gone. Get cameras. When everyone else offers them, it makes a customer think "What does Puptown not want me to see?". I do think the nameless woman does care a lot. She was just doing a really bad job at her attempt to "help" people. read more

Puptown helped teach my dog how to play nice with other doggies! I can't say how much it warms my heart to know that my Buddy has gone from being a reserved and slightly scared pup to being a full-on playful little doggy at daycare. I love the pictures and videos of him playing with his new pals (I think he may even have found a girlfriend at Puptown) while I'm away working. He's having a blast at Puptown and it's all because of the great care and love that Shasta and the crew give every dog there. I love this place. You really can't get much better than this in terms of doggy day care. I live in San Francisco and choose to have my pup at Puptown rather than a place in the city.
