The reservation process is seamless. You simply email to check availability, and Mindy responds promptly with a reservation form. The form is easy to complete, allowing you to share details about your pet's feeding schedule, medications, and any important notes. Once submitted, you receive a confirmation--everything is straightforward and makes securing a reservation quick and stress-free. Dropping Simba off was reassuring and genuinely positive. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and check-in was smooth and efficient. It was immediately clear that the staff are organized and truly care about each pet in their care. What really stood out was Simba's reaction--he happily ran straight over to a staff member, eager for attention and affection. Seeing him so comfortable and excited made all the difference. It was obvious that he felt relaxed and safe, as if he knew he was in good hands. Watching him settle in so naturally gave me complete confidence in leaving him there. While we were away, I reached out to Mindy to check in. She shared that Simba was doing great--eating well and enjoying playtime--and even sent a few photos. We just picked up our two Frenchies from Wunderbar a few days ago, after being away for 2 weeks. We have been sending them there for almost 2 years and have been extremely happy, but we were a little nervous about being away from them for so long. Mindy and her staff were so great about sending us photos of them 3 times while we were on the trip and putting us at ease that they were doing great. I can't say enough about this Pet Hotel. The photos show how much fun they were having and they came home calm, healthy and happy. The best part was when we were picking them up in the outside greeting area, our Gunner went back to their door and sat there because he wanted to go back in! I've never been a fan of doggy daycares with big play yards, it always made me nervous since my dog doesn't love every dog he comes across. For his safety and others I wanted to find a daycare where his one-on-one time was spent with a person and not other dogs. This is Wunderbar. I absolutely love this place and my dog does as well, last time he didn't even look back when I dropped him off! They spoil him rotten and they always talk about how well behaved he is, even quiet which is hard to believe . He is always healthy, happy, and ready to nap when he comes home. They also send him home with a goodie bag every-time! I have no hesitation leaving him at Wunderbar when I travel. The owner and staff are great and clearly love what they do. I went to this facility during business hours to inquire. I rang their doorbell since I could hear people talking inside. Very strange. I peeked in a window and could see a group of people there who were completely ignoring me out front. It was only when they noticed I saw them sitting there did someone come out. He never gave me pricing only a business card and I could see the manager inside. Very unprofessional. I boarded here years before and thought I'd give it another shot. They are unprofessional and uncommunicative. I recall the owner Mindy being extremely rude and don't think they are trustworthy. read more

Our two Australian Shepherds stayed with Mindy and her wonderful staff for 13 days in December of 2024. Our dogs were well taken care of and came home feeling happy. Our 2 fur babies stayed for 7 days during Spring Break. We have only left them with a family or friend who usually stayed at our home so we were worried about the outcome. Being on a trip with no phone communication if something went wrong was another stress. What if they didn't get along with the staff, what if they didn't like sharing a small space (one typically sleeps on one of the hooman beds and the other sprawled across a dog bed and the carpet. What if they get sick, our pup had just gotten neutered and received his latest vaccines . It was tough leaving them but Mindy was very informative pre check in and her staff was amazing transitioning them in and back to us for pickup. They shared a "suite" which had cots (I didn't see the exact location but you can peek into the kennel spaces for the big animals in the entrance). They get their own playtime together with a staff member. You can pay extra for pictures, grooming, more playtime etc. We sent ours with 2 toys and each of their blankets from home that had our scents on it. We left our dog food in case they didn't want to eat the hotel food. They didn't allow the bully sticks for chocking and safety reasons but they have them snacks there. There are a lot of options, some for extra fees. The only thing I would have liked is to have seen their space where they stayed as well as their play area and potty areas when let out. There are pictures on the website which help a ton. Overall, it was a great experience and we would send them to Wunderbar again when we need a place for the dogs to be housed safely and have fun. A side note, next door is a training facility which is a family member so the whole property is very well Equipped with resources if interested in training while on their stay it can be coordinated. read more

We have used Wunderbar for decades both for our dogs, 2 in a row, and now our granddog. I am shocked to read any negative reviews. Mindy and her staff have always been extremely polite and caring with our dogs. Many years ago I brought our Tibetan Terrior for a test stay to see how he would tolerate it. He had gone through a trauma losing his dog buddy at a kennel in Pleasanton due to their negligence. After our other dog died in their "care", I was finally told by a staff member that they called him "crazy Jake" because he was so unnerved (constantly barking and jumping against the kennel enclosure). This worker told me he always behaved like that when we boarded him there many times, yet they never once informed me before. I wondered if it was that awful kennel or kennels in general. I shared all that info with Mindy who suggested a test stay. When I came to pick Jake up, Mindy told me I could not board him as it was much too stressful for him. We then hired a woman to come to our home multiple times a day to care for him. To this day I am grateful to Mindy for her honesty. read more

TL;DR. This business is unprofessional and unsafe. I just had the most horrible experience with this place and frankly should have known better. We have taken our dogs to wunderbar several times, when we take weekend trips and can't take the dogs with us. Our dogs get along great but MUST be separated during feeding or they will fight over food. Well, last time we took our dogs there, one came home with a puncture wound all the way through his ear. Wunderbar never notified us that there was an  incident and apparently did nothing to care for the wound. Thankfully the puncture didnt catch a vein or worse - an eye. With this breed of dog even a small nick to a vein and they will bleed all over the place. So, frankly Wunderbar got lucky. Furthermore, one of the dogs came home clearly having lost a lot of weight. His vertebrae were poking through. He clearly either hadnt been eating or hadnt beed fed. So, this time around  when dropping the dogs off, I asked to review how the dogs are treated during feeding and that they needed to be separated. I honestly felt like I was giving this company a second chance and just wanted to review how we were going to try and avert another injury.  The intake person told me "if it's in the notes, then that's how they will be treated." I told him I didnt know what was in the notes and just wanted to be cautious. We got lucky last time that the puncture wound didnt catch a vein or worse. And, can we review what steps we are taking to keep the dogs safe and healthy (I also wanted to discuss how much food the dogs were getting, since one lost so much weight the last time around.) He told me I needed to talk to the owner and gave me Mindy's phone number to call. Upon answering, Mindy was already angry. She was angry I was asking to review how the dogs were going to be treated. Angry that I didnt know all the things she says she does. I reiterated that last time my dog came home with an injury and she responded "what, you don't think I've dealt with that before?" Well, since she didnt deal with it last time - no - I had no idea what she's dealt with, since she dealt with my dogs injury so poorly. The more we talked, the angrier she got. As a dog owner - it's my responsibility to keep my dogs safe and I felt it was perfectly reasonable to review how they are going to be treated, since last time there was an injury. Well, this just made Mindy super mad. I ended up leaving with my dogs. I bought two travel crates and trained my dogs to love being in them. And I'm never going there again. Businesses make mistakes. Especially when dealing with animals. It's how you deal with those mistakes, take responsibility for them, make a plan to correct your mistake - that's how you treat issues when they arise. I was so concerned about leaving my dog because in the past he's come home with ticks, fleas, etc., when I boarded him at other locations. I loved this place!!! He gets his own room, homemade food (or you can bring your own). He was happy and healthy when I picked him up. I see someone complained about not being able to talk directly to someone. It's different but they do have excellent communication via email. All the instructions are on their website, I filled out the form and they got back to me saying they had an opening. I fulfilled the shot requirements, emailed them to Mindy and she sent me my confirmation email. Yes it's different but it worked out just fine. It's a beautiful location and the staff keep it clean. I have 2 small dogs with big, yet different personalities...one that absolutely loves people and one that is socially insecure and does not do well with other dogs. It's been a struggle to find the right type of dog boarding and I'm beyond grateful to have found Wunderbar. Mindy has been super accommodating and I haven't felt this secure and confident til my dogs stayed at Wunderbar. Recently, I had a last min booking request because I was pregnant and would be going into labor any moment. Not only was Mindy flexible, but she also offered complimentary baths for my dogs so that they were fresh and clean before they met our new lil one. These people are pretty strange. I called them on the phone to ask them about some information for boarding my cat. There was no answer. I left a voicemail twice. I then went to their website and they said they don't answer the phone and you have to send an email.. I then sent an email with my telephone number asking for someone to call me so I could just ask them a few questions about their facility. Someone then called me back and told me they couldn't talk on the phone and hung up on me. After this it was pretty much a rap. They won't even communicate with me, how can I trust them with my pet? Mindy was EXTREMELY quick with e-mail correspondence, fielding so many of my questions while I was on a hunt to board my 9 month old Frenchie for a quick getaway to Lake Tahoe. Not only was she quick and efficient, she never seemed to mind all my questions and inquiries. My only tiny complaint (though I wouldn't even call it a complaint) is that they do charge a full day of boarding if you pick up your pet after 12pm. In my quest to find someone to pick up my doggo before 12pm as to not incur the full day charge, a friend kindly offered to watch her during my entire vacation for me. So full disclosure, I have not boarded my Frenchie here YET ... but I am absolutely going to use Mindy and Wunderbar the next time I go out of town! read more

We honestly can't praise Wunderbar enough. We found this amazing pet hotel while looking for somewhere for our dog Susan to stay when we went into labor. We have no family nearby and she's a reactive dog who wouldn't do well with a dog-sitter in the house or with other dogs. Wunderbar was the best solution for us as we know that she gets a private room, private toilet breaks and private play time. We started out with short day camps and built up to overnights. She's stayed with the team while we've been away on trips and has done many day camps with them when we've had to have workers in the house doing improvements. She loves her tris to the hotel and is excited for every drop off. She's got an amazing connection with Lauren at the hotel and she can't wait to see her every time we drive up. The hoptel were even fantastic in helping us out when our AC went down during the recent heat wave. We knew she wouldn't cope well with a worker in our house and we were glad that they had a last minute room available where she had AC and could be comfortable. We get the best happy photos whenever she stays with them and she's always so excited for her stays. I've lost count of the number of times we've used their services and we couldn't be happier to have found this dog hotel. Amazing staff and great facility. We just had our puppy Boss stay at Wunderbar's Pet Hotel and we're very pleased with the experience. Mindy was always prompt in replying to my inquiries about availability. We had to cancel a stay at the last minute in January due to Covid and she was very understanding of the cancellation. Boss was able to enjoy extra play times with care takers at a nominal fee and they even sent him home smelling good and with doggy treats. When I got nervous after the first day wondering if Boss was enjoying himself Mindy asked the caretakers to take pictures of him so I could see he was happy and running around. She did this on her own without my asking, which I so appreciated. It was a great experience and you can tell the staff loves dogs. Will definitely be using them again! read more

If I could give them 100 stars, I would. My dogs are my entire world, so when I found out that I had to have surgery and be hospitalized for an unknown amount of time, I freaked out trying to figure out what to do with my dogs. One of them is really tiny and hyper and likes to jump off of things so I couldn't let just anyone watch her. We also live in a coyote area and I certainly didn't want to have to worry about a pet sitter taking her out in the middle of the night to go potty. I researched every boarding facility in the area and asked neighbors and friends for recommendations. Several of them recommended Wunderbar's and they all gave them rave reviews! This was the first time I could not find ANYTHING NEGATIVE about a Pet Hotel! I decided to email them myself and ask for information. Right from the start, Mindy, the owner, was extremely professional and also very warm and easy to communicate with. I set up an appointment to visit the hotel and was able to meet some of the staff. Jonathan and Lauren were both really nice and easy going and I knew my dogs would like them too. I then decided to book the 2 weeks that I was scheduled to have surgery. I was then also able to book 2 doggy daycare days just to get my dogs used to the facility and staff so that when the time came to board them, they wouldn't think that I'm not coming back. Both daycare days went really well and it made it mentally easier for me to drop them off the day before my surgery. Everything went really smoothly and they took excellent care of my babies. I was able to email Mindy from the hospital whenever I felt like it to check on them and she even sent me pictures of my babies having fun, playing with the staff! It was such a HUGE relief to be able to focus on my own health, knowing that my dogs were safe and being well taken care of. When it finally came time to pick them up, they came home exactly like I left them, clean and happy! I am so thankful to have found Wunderbar's and will now actually be able to go on trips without my dogs sometimes because I know they'll be safe and well cared for! read more

Cannot begin to express my disappointment. I RARELY leave bad reviews, but I want everyone to consider my experience before they take their dogs here. We are new to NorCal and found this place on Yelp. I emailed and reserved a spot for August. I asked to bring my dogs down one day before their long stay, to make sure things worked out. I am so glad we did this, because this definitely is not a good place (I did pay for the visit). When we showed up I saw a sign that said ring bell if not open during business hours. It was 10 minutes past opening, so I rang the bell. That was a HUGE mistake, because when Mindy came out she was irate. This woman was so nasty to me and my daughter, that I started to leave. My daughter just looked at me in shock as the woman continued to make rude comments and talk to us in a very demeaning manner. I informed her that for someone who ran a business, she had horrible customer service and she did calm down after that. I checked my dogs in, and left. I was back at the exact time to pick them up. I will say that the Mindy who checked us out was a COMPLETELY different person than the Mindy who checked us in. I chalked it up to her just not being a morning person. After getting home that evening, I noticed that my Boston Terrier puppy was nursing his foot. After inspection I saw a gash/cut on his foot. I took him to the vet and they said it looked like he caught his foot on something. I cannot say for certain that it happened at this place, but he had a bath the night before, and it wasn't there then. This place is economical, but for $90 more I was able to find a better place, with 24 hour pick up and drop off. Wunderbar has very restricted drop off and pick up hours. If you are in NorCal message me and I will tell you where we ended up taking our dogs. Be wary if you take your dogs here. read more

This place is truly incredible! I have a very energetic and intimidating Belgian Malinois in which the team of kind professionals handled her with the love and care that she deserves. I had a horrible horrible experience at Wag Hotels in Oakland and was scrambling to find an alternative as she can be a challenging breed to manage. Wunderbar didn't bat an eye and knew all the tricks to keep my girl tired and happy. They keep all dogs separate which is a huge stress relief. I trust them to play with her as often as they say they do, unlike Wag Hotels, who threw my 62lb dog in a small room for an extended period of time without walking her or playing with her (extremely cruel and I will never go back there). Mindy and team have a family approach and really make you feel welcomed and treat your fur baby with the utmost care. I will be a happy returning customer for years to come! read more

My go to kennel was on vacation. So I went to Yelp in search of a pet hotel. Although this is a bit of a drive from D-ville, it was SO worth it. Mindy was very responsive and got back to me right away with my initial inquiry. Our senior lab seemed to love the place upon entering. No whimpering. There is a talking parrot at check in who is so hilarious. We were all entertained by her while we were waiting to be checked in. They give each dog a goodie bag as check out. Very good experience from start to finish. I needed a place for our cat on very short notice and Wunderbar came through. The receiving staff member was extremely kind and helpful, and our cat was happy and healthy when we brought him home a week later. Although I prefer being able to reach someone immediately via phone during business hours, they were very good at replying to my emails quickly, often within an hour or less during daytime hours. Our cat stayed here for 9 days! This was his first time being boarded and we didn't know what to think. I took a lot of time choosing the boarding facility. Mindy did a great job responding to emails letting us know how our cat was doing. She even sent over a few pics. She put our mind at ease knowing our sweet cat was doing ok. The cats get two 15 min playtime's out of the kennel which makes me feel so much better about leaving my cat in their care. I did not want him to sit in a kennel with no interaction. When he came home he was a little unsure about where he was but settled back in shortly after researching and familiarizing himself with his surroundings.
