I wanted to take a moment to applaud the service I received from Apron Strings Pet Sitting. My family and I were traveling overseas recently and had a neighbor locked in to stay at our home and care for our two pets: a Pomsky and a Maine Coon. Not too difficult, just hairy and needy. Well, needless to say, that fell through last minute and I was in a bind for sure. I don't like to board them and I want them in our home. I found Apron Strings via Yelp! and saw the great reviews. I thought I'd take a chance... I talked with Howard that evening and got an understanding of what they offered, talked a little to get a read on his love for pets and general personality and was sold. He scheduled a meeting with one of his people to see my home, to walk through and meet my pets. That was great, and reassuring. I scheduled three walks/visits per day for my dog and cat. I was given a daily journal of activities, feeding, demeanor and all around vibe of my babies. That was refreshing. Upon arrival back in the states, Kim reached out to me to make sure everything went well and make sure I didn't have any issue. That was very professional as well. I will use this service in the future for my travels when I cannot find an individual to stay in my home with my pets, as they were professional and courteous. Thank you! read more

The metric for exceptional home pet care is when you return from a vacation and your little ones, while happy to see you, are otherwise calm, content and behave as though you have been away for just a few hours. I love the home care Apronstrings' team provides - especially real time communication to let you know how things are going. In a nutshell - expect worry-free travel/time away from home knowing your pet is in good hands! read more

As a longtime customer of Apronstrings, I want to take a moment to share with people considering their service about my experiences. From the very first visit I have found their entire team to be incredibly kind, thoughtful and professional. These folks clearly exemplify business with HEART. Each time I have booked their services I have received the same outstanding experience. They have left me detailed notes about their visits and even observations about my pets which has been really helpful. They don't just feed and water your pets but they love on them as well! In a time when great customer service is increasingly rare, you will always find that service with a lot of heart at Apronstrings. I highly recommend them! read more

These people should NOT take care of pets. They are the most unprofessional and cruel cat sitters I've had. I came back from a 2 week trip and found my cat's food full of ants and the back up bowls fully empty. He probably couldn't eat for more than 3 days! The ants were on the water too! I did tell the company that there could be an ant problem and for that reason I left two extra bowls upstairs. They were supposed to keep the full at all times. Instead, they were empty!! And those are big bowls, so they must have been empty for a while. Pippo lost ONE POUND in 2 weeks. It's A LOT for a cat. On top of this, my cat had litter issues and this was reported to me only once. When I got back I found the house incredibly dirty. My cat poop outside four times. They didn't clean properly and one episode was left there (it was dry, so it was sitting there for a while). It was also full of pee around the litter (I left some products, they didn't clean). Last but not least, my cat vomited on the couch. This was never reported to me and the couch wasn't cleaned. He could have been sick!!!!! These people are criminals. They should NOT take care of any animal. On top of everything, the person I was in touch with denied EVERYTHING and was incredibly rude. She told me her conscience was clean. I don't know how these people sleep at night. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PET WITH THEM. read more

We now have a new cat and have gotten the same wonderful service by Apronstrings! This one is a very shy rescue cat who wasn't seen at all the first time staff came, but now allows herself to be seen periodically to get a treat! (Not a dummy!) I'm comfortable going away knowing that my house and my pet are visited and I'm kept informed about how the time was spent. Makes travelling much more comfortable. Thank you, Apronstrings! read more

We have used Apronstrings for a couple of years now and they are excellent! When we first started using them, we had one older cat who didn't need much looking after. About a year ago, we got a kitten who needed much more care. They were able to pivot and take care of both of them with no problem! The older cat got sick and Kim said they had no problem administering pills and keeping an eye on her. Leaving your pets can very incredibly nerve-wracking, but I am never worried with Apronstrings is coming. I know they will be happy and healthy. One sitter even vacuumed up some litter the little one had tracked through the house. Truly above and beyond. Not to mention, communication is great. I have been able to get ahold of them from all over the world. Someone will respond to an email with even the smallest question. I highly recommend this service, especially if you're a nervous pet owner like me. They will allow you the peace of mind to fully enjoy your travels. read more

Very expensive. Can you talk to the owner? Everything sounds good until he gave me the price.. I was going to be gone for 42 days at $100 a day = 4,200.00 One month and 12 days . Not to spend the day , or the night , just to come in and feed my dogs. We're not even talking about them walking the dogs. read more

My sister first recommended Apronstrings Pet Sitting to me in 2012 when we needed someone to feed our kitties and administer epilepsy meds twice daily to one of our cats while we were on vacation. They took great care of our pets and home and we have used their services ever since. They are extremely reliable and trustworthy and I highly recommend their services. read more

My wife and I have been clients of Apronstrings for 7+ years. We use them anywhere from a few days on quick trips to up to 2 weeks around every holiday to be with family in Seattle. They have given us peace of mind knowing that our cats are always in good hands. I've never been one to give a service access to my home. But it didn't take long for me to have full confidence in Kim and her team of Apronstringers. Our travels would be far more stressful without this service in our lives. The obvious is that they'll feed the cats, clean their litter, provide meds if needed, check mail, water plants, etc. But that's what we should all expect. If you have a service that can't at least provide those requirements, find someone else. We love seeing our cat (we had two up until a couple yesterday ago) in good spirits after every trip. But there's much more to what they provide. We've had to extend cat sitting for emergency reasons a few times. Last year our daughter came down with a fever on the last day of our trip and Kim didn't hesitate extending their care of our cat. More notably, one of our family members in Seattle was in critical condition due to an accident back in early 2013. We were gone for over 5 weeks after originally planning to be gone for only 2 weeks. We were in constant communication with Kim as she accommodated 3 extension requests. It brings tears to my eyes looking back at our emails. She was completely understanding of our situation. While we've only ever met in person for the initial free consultation visit discussing the care of our cats, it has sincerely felt like Apronstrings is family thanks to what they do for us... at a high level of quality service. A+ grade to the wonderful people at Apronstrings. read more

Reasonably priced and great service! Kept my plants and pets alive and happy

Apronstrings Pet Sitting has provided excellent care to our five kitties and leopard gecko through the years (since 1992)! It is such a relief to be able to leave our animals and home in their trustworthy and capable hands. Our current kitty is 17 years old and requires a daily pill, which they administer without any problem. Now, with the pandemic winding down, we are traveling more. We have no second thoughts or worries about how the kitty is doing when we are away, and it's a hoot to check the daily care report log they leave for us to see that he was "chatty" and enjoyed "cuddles on the couch!" read more

Kim and her team are amazing! Used them several times over the past couple of years and nothing but good things to say. They brought in mail, took out trash & dealt with my special requests every time. Always responsive for booking & leave a write up at the end of their visit to let you know how it all went. Very professional & always a positive experience! read more

My family has used Apronstrings regularly since December 2014. Whatever our needs they manage to provide excellent care for our fur babies. It is easy to make the reservations. We are able to relax on our trips as we know that our house is safe in their hands. Besides caring for our pets, they bring in the mail, take out and in the trash cans, and even water our potted planted. We return home to happy environment. Thanks Apronstrings! read more

I've been a client of Kim and Howard for about 4 years. They are very committed to the animals that they care for. Whenever I return from trips - I tend to travel a lot - my cats are happy and content. They lose 1 star because sometimes their staff is less than detail-oriented. I've come home to 'accidents' outside the litter box that haven't been noticed and cleaned up after (although this is rare). However, Kim and Howard are always anxious to know about these incidents and strive to make things right. I would not hesitate to recommend Apronstrings for pet sitting services. Kim and Howard are great people personally and truly love animals. read more

Because travel funds have been largely mythical in the higher education field in which I work, it's been 10 years since I've been able to travel to a conference. Until 2009, Apronstrings was the fairly-frequent go-to critter sitter for my then-huge menagerie. I always loved and completely trusted them. For the past few days I was again finally able to attend a conference, and was utterly delighted to have Kim and the other Apron-stringers looking after my now just-three-member furry and feathered family. The Apronstrings folk did the same FABULOUS job that they'd done so many years ago! I cannot recommend them highly enough!!! read more

I've been a client of Apronstrings for over a year now and they are awesome! Kim and Howard take such good care of my baby Luci while I'm out of town, I know I never have to worry about a thing. Its such a relief knowing shes in good hands. I've never had any problems or complaints. I've always come home to a happy little kitty who's clearly been well taken care of while I've been away. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for petsitting services read more

I've been using Apronstrings Pet Sitting for 7+ years & owners, Kim & Howard are amazing with pet care & their staff of helpers are the same! I would not leave our Labrador dogs with any other pet sitter. Best TLC for your pets while you are away! read more

We used Apronstrings for the first time this past weekend. Our cat Zoey was recently diagnosed with chronic kidney disease so we needed extra care for her. This was the first time we had to hire a pet sitter since she was diagnosed and I'm grateful for the level of care she received. Kim assured me that her team was able to handle giving subcutaneous fluids and she personally handled our pet's situation which also included adding meds to her food. Zoey was perfectly content and healthy when we returned and Kim even brought our mail in for us. We will definitely use their service again in the future. Thank you Kim! read more

We've been clients here for a few years and I can't believe I haven't raved about how great Kim & Howard's Team is! :) I first found out about Apronstrings when I was in need for short notice pet sitting due to a business trip. My friends don't live close by and I needed someone I could rely on. I wasn't too sure about my neighbors (I know, that's sad, but it's true). I had limited time to research but was able to meet with Kim prior to her coming over to petsit and liked her immediately. She's a fellow pet owner and understands the concerns pet owners have when leaving their "babies" in someone elses care. I've trusted Kim on numerous occasions and she's also great when I have to travel overseas. You can arrange as many visits as you feel your pets need and they also offer special care, such as giving shots for sick animals and would take your pet to the vet in an emergency. The cost per visit is pretty reasonable at $19 for kitties, I think it's a little more for dogs. Kim's Team also does regular pet sitting for people that just want someone to walk their dog every day while they are at work. They come in, feed your pets, clean the mighty box, play with the kitties and also make the house look like it's lived in while you're away. I've recommended Kim's services to a few of my friends and they are the first I call when I'm in need of a pet sitter. We recently started using Apronstrings Pet Sitting service. We've had the same pet sitter for years, but a cross country move brought about the need for a new one. After placing several calls and emails, we chose Apronstrings for several reasons. Correspondence was timely, rates are VERY reasonable, significant experience, and interaction with our pets upon meeting put us at ease. Kim is very down to earth and clearly adores animals. Finding and trusting a new pet sitter was overwhelming. Glad we found a great one so close to home. read more

Very thorough, warm, and experienced! They recently watched my 2 bunnies. Listened carefully to what I wanted and, most importantly, what my bunnies wanted/needed. Gave updates while we were away and even sent a picture! read more

Kim and her staff have been wonderful. It was one of the best discoveries of 2011. they have been kind, gentle and caring. When we return home from one of our trips, we can tell the animals are well cared for by how calm and happy they are to see us. This is just the best pet sitting service!!! I'm so glad we made the call. Thank you Kim and Howard. Stan, Patty, TK, Cowboy and Hoshiko read more

Kim and her staff our the best in the East Bay. Their staff are amazing people who truly love pets. Ive been a client for 3+ years and they are my savior. I never have to worry about my 3 dogs and 1 cat as they are well taken care of and very much loved. They are so reliable and my pets love them. They look forward to their visits. I am truly blessed by finding Kim and her staff. What I love about Apronstrings is that they update me by leaving notes on activities they had with my pet aka the Kids.. They are truly the best and I'm glad to have found Kim and her staff. Thanks for all that you do for my kids!!!!! AKA pets read more

I used Apronstrings for the first time to take care of my cats when I went on a long weekend trip. They were excellent. I got a text message telling me all was well every day (yay!) and the kitties were so happy when I got home I'm not even sure they knew I was gone. Nice touch to get a personal status card on my table when I got home. I will definitely use them again for future personal and business travel! read more

Normally I have friends come over to check in on my cats. Normally, when I get home, my cats pout for two days because I left them. Apronstrings changed that. When I came home they were well groomed and playful. I definitely saw a difference. I was very satisfied. Not only will I use a pet sitter from now on, I will only use Apronstrings! read more

I've used apronstrings for about 4 years now. I don't want to write TOO good a review because I don't want them to become so popular that I cant get their services when I need them ....BUT they are GREAT! I have a cat, which as you all know, thinks that I am simply STAFF! in my interaction with apronstrings I have NEVER worried when I am gone if "the cat" would be taken care of...my biggest worry has always been how long it will take for her to re-adapt to ME! when I come home after 2 weeks, and she looks at me, as if I were a stranger!, and "where are those people who have been here!!" - all I can say is apronstrings are GREAT! read more

I had used Apronstrings in past years and for many years did not as I had a neighbor who would take care of my cats. However, I recently called and started back with them. I was happy up until recently when I returned home to find a dose of medicine had not been given. She commented that well he had 80 % of his medicine given! I was uncertain if my cat had been seen one day as extra food cans were on the counter and the litter box was full with dried stool and urine. Kim was very defensive when I contacted her and stated I was the one at fault and not her "wonderful employees". The proper response should have been to apologize to me and to make things right not to criticize and undermine me the client. In public service as a nurse for many years I would never treat my patients or families in this unprofessional manner. read more
