I've had some issues with this place primarily the staff in the fish department. I had gone there to purchase fish for my tank after not having them for a while. One of the staffers who's name won't be mentioned here had the audacity to tell me that I should wait to have so many fish in a tank. Number one he's talking to someone who's an experienced pet owner and two I already know that you don't start off with a lot of fish in a tank-that's something you tell a new fish owner. So each time I came back for something pertaining to my tanks he would stop me from buying fish until one day he did that I went to another Pet Smart store and bought the fish I wanted. It wasnt until this particular staffer didnt see me for a while then he eased up and sold me some fish. I was pretty irritated with this guy because what gives him the right to determine if my fish purchase was appropriate when I've owned fish for more than 15 years and know how to take care of them and to maintain the tanks. You would think that this location would hire some knowledgeable people...apparently not. Seems as if the ones who actually are knowledgeable were being transferred to other stores or quit. Sometimes you get those store clerks who want to be pricks because they think they know it all when half the people that come in to buy stuff are experienced pet owners and some who have more knowledge than Encyclopedia Brown about their respective pets. The service could be a little more efficient in their fish department nobody should have to be standing around waiting to be helped and the indecisive customers should be asked to continue shopping until ready to make a purchase and allow the customers who know what they want to be helped so they can continue with their shopping or checking out. I would like to see them adopt dogs out from the store since they seem to adopt out a lot of cats from shelters. Not everyone is a cat lover and they should offer a selection of dogs as well. read more

I brought my cat here to get his nails trimmed for the first time and was extremely pleased with the service! Sam did an excellent job----she basically had my cat on the grooming table, and literally, within seconds later it was done! Just that simple. There wasn't any grabbing of my cat's neck, no legs left dangling in the air, no painful cries--it was just done very professionally and with ease. If you are looking for someone to trim your cat's nails in the South Loop area, definitely see Sam. The price was $9---you pay up front, but tip her in the grooming area; thus, make sure to have cash on-hand. Petsmart requires that you bring documents to show your cat is current with the vaccinations. Also, call to make sure Sam is working because she's only available on certain days. Lastly, I gave this place 4 stars because cats and dogs were groomed in the same room. Unfortunately, my cat doesn't get along with dogs, so it would've been nice if there were separate rooms. Verdict: We'll be back! read more

I don't like shopping at PetSmart, but I also don't like paying $50 for a harness just because I'm trying to support "the little guy". With a little tugging, pup could get her harness free from the leash and because she's ratchet, I would never see her again if that happened, so off to PetSmart I went, because it's close. First, as soon as the automatic doors open you can smell pee. Alright, fine, it's underground and it's a pet store. I'm not going to be super judge-y. However, I saw pee puddles in THREE different aisles, two of them with employees nearby doing some stocking. No wonder the store reeks of pee. I don't even want to know why dogs are peeing in the store, but again, trying not to be super judge-y. A store doesn't smell that bad if this is a one time thing. My next issue with this place is the lack of knowledge from the employees, about ANYTHING. Do you have more in back, since this entire display is practically empty? You don't think so, or you just don't want to check? When customers used to ask me if we had something and I didn't want to check, I at least pretended to go in the back and check while I played on my phone. Nope, not here. They could care less. You have 2 options and that's all. The thing that really gets me about this store though is people giving my dog treats without asking. The first time I ever came here someone was doing a demo for Science Diet. The man set down a bowl of food directly in front of my dog after I told him no, twice. Call me whatever the hell you want, but I don't want my dog eating that crap. I don't like her eating treats in general (she's a lazy ass Dachshund who still gets treated like a damn puppy and rewarded for existing) since she gets enough treats at home. Here, the only time employees are friendly is when they are sneaking up behind you to shove a treat in your dog's face. Not cool. I come here because it's close when I need something in a pinch. The plus is they often time have outfits on sale. Pup is always a shark for Halloween, naturally, but this year she gets to have an outfit change at some point because I'm a sucker for outfits. read more

While I kinda feel dirty for making a separate category to review this PetSmart, I feel that it's necessary! I REALLY love this place to drop my baby off at for doggy-day-camp. It's really convenient (I can drop him off as early as 7 AM!) and I can pick him up late (as late as 9 PM!) and it's all the same price. Sure, if you drop your beloved four-legged-friend off early, and pick up late, they will be in solitary confinement for a bit (until 9 AM, and then back at 6 PM), but overall, Ryno really loves it here. In fact, he gets super psyched when we pull into the underground parking garage in front of the store! As soon as we're in the store, he pulls me to where he needs to go, and doesn't even look back to say bye! (Yes, I am crushed a bit, but my baby is getting older now!) I also feel that the staff that works with the pups here really care about them, as they remember his name, as well as his doggy best friends that go there! I like the fact that you can get an exit bath (which I recommend, otherwise you have one stenchy pooch after!) for an extra $12, so for all day care, and a bath, it costs me $32! I say a bargain! Plus, Ryno is super pooped for the next two days, which means I can get more of my planning for school, as well as my school work done peacefully! read more

OK so aside from following the trail of popcorn that I left today, here's how you get here. It's on my new bff street Roosevelt aka 12th Street, under Whole Foods. Turn onto Canal Street to enter the covered parking structure off of Canal. The second you enter if you make a hard right driving down a ramp you will drive right into the PetSmart parking lot. You did it! You are there! If you miss that and go straight you will be parking in the Whole Foods underground covered lot, which is OK too unless you are getting heavy things and don't like stairs. From the underground, covered Whole Foods lot there is a stairway right before entering the Whole Foods building, on your right. This stairway takes you to the level below so you can go into PetSmart. So I have parked in either lot and shopped in both stores with no issues. nice products pretty OK service, mostly clean well-lit store a plus that you can do Whole Foods errands and PetSmart errands, if you remember and have time. Today I forgot all about my Whole Foods errands because Tar-jay (just east on Roosevelt and Clark) was calling my name. read more

If I could give this place -5 stars I would. We were sold a beardie almost a month ago and given some HORRIBLE advice by their employee Jill--that we did not need UV lights in his tank because he's against a window, and that since he's receiving direct sunlight, we wouldn't need vitamin supplements. After a very expensive vet visit today due to his quickly deteriorating condition, we were informed UV rays can't penetrate glass, so he's essentially had NO calcium, NO vitamin D or A, NO way to digest his food for the last 3 weeks because of this. In addition to that, the vet informed us that the time it takes for these symptoms to show up is longer than the time we've had him, so this is the result of shitty conditions at PetSmart in addition to our own improper care. He's now hypocalcemic and having tremors and seizures, and would have had metabolic bone disease had we waited a couple more weeks. These people just pull advice out of their asses, management does not train their employees on proper care. I called the store and complained to a manager and got a half-asses "oh sorry, I'll talk to her--what was her name again?" They're looking to make a quick buck off these poor babies that ultimately suffer and die because of their recklessness. Y'all should be ashamed. I will be returning about $300 worth of merchandise I purchased for our beardie solely so I can purchase it somewhere else and not give any more financial support to this shameful pet factory. read more

Lets see... I was excited to see they opened this PetSmart close to my house right before I rescued my puppy. Ignorance is bliss! Their food selection for the most part is garbage. I won't bother getting preachy about dog food but they only have one or two decent brands and they are more expensive there than comparable brands at locally own pet stores (read: Kriser's, just down the street). Actually everything is more expensive and not as high quality at Kriser's. So I stopped buying treats and leashes and that kind of stuff but I had good luck the first time I went to their groomer's for a nail grinding (little guy didn't like it when I tried the clippers) but everytime I have went back they are flat out rude and they dont get all of his nails evenly (and havent touched his dew claws the last two times). I would say something but I had been so put off by their rude attitudes I hi-tailed it out of there and checked when I got home. I'll make his next time at Kriser's or just get a Dremel and do it myself. I am not going to hold it against them that they are in the neither regions of that odd shopping complex, but my last complaint is about the trainer, she is so pushy! I like when people in the store are helpful but she would not let me be and kept asking about where my dog went to training and how much it was and how she could beat the price. I left in fear, I really just wanted to know about the harnesses. There are tons of local pet stores in the area that can get you whatever you need and more at similar prices to PetSmart. It literally pains me to think about going back there. read more

Always expensive, nice staff, lines move quickly. I buy dog food and things for my fish tank here, never had an issue.

Update time. My love for Petsmart faded fast. I boarded my dog here for another weekend and when I picked her up discovered they'd never even noticed/opened the toys in her bag. And she smelled so bad the cab driver almost kicked us out. And the boarding prices are high for a chain. They charge extra for play time, treats, etc. Also, I've found it's a lot more affordable to order pet supplies from Amazon. They are nearly 1/2 the cost that Petsmart charges. The grass is greener on the other side. read more

Pros: Clean store Parking lot Good deals - love the coupons and petsmart club great doggie daycare - staff routinely stops in to play with the dogs, which is cool. Friendly approachable staff - they approach you if you are thinking to much in the aisle alone. Dog friendly environment where all of the patrons and staff are friendly to every animal they see. My dog feels like a celebrity when she goes there and I appreciate it. Sometimes senior dogs need extra praises for being cuter than puppies. :D cons: Parking lot is under ground so the rain does not get on it and when dogs constantly pee outside of the store and the weather is humid or hot it feels like you are trapped inside of a urinal in 100 degree weather. I strongly suggest that they take some bleach, cleaners or hire someone to clean their parking lot once a quarter to reduce that offensive odor. read more

Horrible experience with this PetSmart Grooming Center. We only visit this location because we have Banfield and we get our dog groomed first and then take her for her wellness afterwards. We set up an appointment on Sunday morning with Petsmart Grooming for Tuesday @ 8am and Banfield for a wellness checkup on Tuesday @ 10am. When we arrived the Petsmart Grooming Center said they did not have our appointment scheduled. That's interesting as they transferred us after having us on the line for 10 minutes scheduling their appointment and confirmed it to Banfield to schedule the other appointment who seemed to have got it right. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!!!! Seems that Banfield is the only one's who know how to schedule correctly. Therefore we ended up just having to do the wellness checkup when all services were supposed to be completed at the same time. Also, when I walked into the salon there was only one young lady there and she had a really nasty attitude as if I was bothering her and just ruined her whole day because I came in with my dog for a grooming at 7am. She would not give me her name when I asked very courteously because she knew that I was going to file a complaint. Did she not realize that she was the only one working and the company could track her hours for the complaint? Who knows maybe they couldn't schedule correctly because they can't even get their hours of operation correct on their Yelp page that says they open at 9am but I was standing in their store at 7:45am. Either way we will never return to this Petsmart for any future business. Looking at the other reviews I can see many other owners have had the same issues and even worse. Next time I will make sure to check Yelp before I book my next grooming appointment at another location. read more

THE WORST After having my vet fax over a food RX, I had to wait and wait and wait for the people at the Banfield counter to figure out how to make a freaking RX card. It is unacceptable to have to stand and wait for a prescription card when the prescription was faxed over, and everything was in order. Employee couldn't figure out and or wasn't capable enough to get the info into their computer. Questions and more waiting made me feel like I was asking for Sudafed and was going to go home and make meth immediately. It was just cat food, and I had the RX and ALL the info. Thirty minutes (30!) waiting to get this stupid piece of paper to buy from them....and then have them not have it in stock was ridiculous. The employees are somewhat limited in knowledge, which tells me either they have a bad manager or they are not paid enough or both. The store is not really clean, but that's because dogs pee on counter corners while their owners wait to be served too. Just stay away from this location if possible. read more

This long review is specifically for their dog trainer, Maritza, who completely changed our lives for the better. I have been here a handful of times in past years and my experience was always forgettable. I never really had pets, with the exception of fostering a stray for a few weeks some years ago and cat sitting. Recently, I took the plunge and committed to adopting two adolescent rescue dog brothers - Mambo and Samba, 15 and 22 lb Chihuahuas mixed with rat terrier or pinscher. Mambo is mellow, but fearful, and Samba was defensively fearful - barking, lunging, snapping, etc. Samba was so nuts, that the veterinarian I take them to at UIUC suggested immediately that we see a behaviorist and put him on meds. I knew what I signed up for, knowing that my two doggies had been through a lot, but it gave me pause to take a dog whom I had only known for 4 weeks, and was still adjusting to his forever home, to a $400/consultation behaviorist who would put him on a dog dose of Prozac for probably much more expensive than Prozac and marketed as Reconcile. The mellow little guy, Mambo, had just as many social issues, he was insecure and fearful of dogs. I dedicated my summer to readjusting and training them myself, and although I did a lot of research, practiced, and have the best veterinarians for professional consultation, I was at my wit's end because I knew that we weren't making as much progress as we should, but I wasn't ready to spend hundreds of dollars superfluously to dope up my dogs as a solution for their poor socialization and complete absence of training in their abused past life. I walked over to my local Petsmart, this place, with them to buy a muzzle for the crazy one - I was that desperate. I saw an ad for their dog training classes near the check out and asked one of the associates if my dogs would be too loco for them. The associate called over Maritza. I told her I didn't want to be a bother, since she was working, but that the veterinarian had no hope for Samba and I didn't want my dogs disrupting her class. Maritza paid me no mind and did a field test on them, even bringing out her own dog to test Samba for aggression. At first I was skeptical, since Maritza told me that "as long as they work for food, they can be in my class". Plus, I thought, WTF can my dogs learn from a dinky chain store training class? I was desperate, the muzzle I had just purchased seemed like a cruel defeat, but I was able to sign up both dogs for 6 week puppy class with Maritza for $240. They aren't even puppies, they're almost 2 years old, but we were so behind and my dogs followed commands so inconsistently and learning new ones so slowly that I didn't mind being in remedial dog training class - $240 for an honest try and 6 hours of one-on-one time in the course of 6 weeks is a bargain compared to $400+ for a one-time behaviorist consultation who wouldn't be hands-on with them. She gave me a pre-class assignment to work on eye contact with them. In working with Maritza during these 6 weeks of her puppy class using clicker training, my dogs and I have improved immensely and our dog-human bond is much stronger. Maritza is very calm and assertive, and not afraid to tell you when you're messing up, not practicing enough, or showing poor form. This can be off-putting to some people, but the same people are probably the type who never blame themselves or their kids (or dogs!) for anything. This is actually very courageous of her, especially for working in a customer service environment where I have noticed that some of the clientele who frequent that shopping complex has a "new money" attitude and are from the everyone-gets-a-trophy generation. You can tell that she's actually into her job and dedicated to the well-being of the dogs. She genuinely wants the dog to "get it", and has no problem repeating instructions to me and modeling the exercise. My dogs have never left a lesson without fully learning a command, if not from me, than from Maritza, and then we practice at home the rest of the week until I get it right myself - executing the command. Mind you, she manages to do all this within a ONE HOUR class. Not only have my dogs learned a great deal from Maritza, but I have as well and am truly humbled from this positive experience. My dogs obey and learn new things so well compared to when I first brought them in and were like barking, headless, chickens, that I am now able to play with them off-leash and at dog parks with confidence. They are still a work in progress, but with lots of practice and proper form, they are becoming debonair, brave, dog gentlemen. I have learned from Maritza how to socialize them and how to condition them with clicker training. She's a natural pack leader and educator. read more

PetSmart - After working with Maritza, their dog trainer, my dog (brown runt in the middle) can socialize with confidence with new and old dog friends. - Pet Stores Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

I've been going to this location for the grooming for years. The place has dramatically fallen off. They have the most rude staff. Mallory, one of the groomers was a complete horror. She offered the worst customer service. She then groomed the dog (did a terrible job, the dog was patchy, nails unclipped, etc.) and failed to even call me when the grooming was done!!! My dog had been at the location for 6 hours and I had to call to see if he was complete. Mallory should not be grooming dogs as she does not know what she is doing. My poor dog had to wait there all day because I was waiting to be called. I will never be bringing my dog back to this location again. read more

5 starts for the PetsHotel, 4 stars for the store itself (only because it piddle area is so small and stinky), 1 star because of their "Dog Trainer" Rita. I was only able to actually have 2 of the 6 sessions with Rita because she constantly had to change the time and day of our scheduled sessions. She would often not call until shortly before I would have had to leave to get to the sessions on time. Then, after the holidays she completely fell of the face of the planet. I called her personal line, which she told me was the best way to get a hold of her, at least a dozen times and left voicemails requesting that she get back in touch with me to schedule the rest of our sessions but to no avail. I finally gave up and called the store, which she happened to be present at the time, and asked her how we could proceed and explained that I had been trying to get a hold of her when she replied that she, "doesn't do voicemail." You cannot give out a number, call it your business number, and not, "do voicemail." My puppy was supposed to be done with training sessions with her by Christmas and it's now February and I'm only finally getting back to training with a PetSmart trainer; who, thankfully, is not Rita. read more

I've been here a lot recently and this location is growing on me. The staff is always more than helpful from picking out beds to tips on food brands going grain free and giving opinions of flea and tick medication. They don't have the biggest selection of toys, but they do have a bunch of Martha Stewart brand toys. Plus on weekends there are lots of people there with their doggies to meet and socialize with. Heads up: If you are trying to find it though, it's on the very bottom parking level, below Whole Foods and to get there on foot means you have to walk into the Whole Foods parking garage and then take the outside stairs down. You can't access it from inside the shopping center. read more

This is a nice PetSmart. It's bright and clean and has a great training room and a puppy hotel, but it's hard to find. It's literally underneath the Whole Foods. I had to walk down the ramp of the parking garage to get to it, which is dangerous when you're a non-driver with a little fur baby in tow. read more

Ive used the Pet Hotel for around a year now and its consistently great. Christian and Natalia are awesome with my pooch. Rita has been great [v patient and kind but firm] teaching my adoptee Chinese Crested, Blondie, how to sit, stay and walk by my side - I have to say I didnt think it was going to happen but with time and practise after I was taught too it did [and one to one's with Rita] Izzy [?] the manager is an approachable/fair chap who has some pretty nice staff [Ralph] The dog clothes always seem to have a decent deal on too. read more

My dog got trained at the Petsmart in Evanston where the staff was great for training, boarding, and daycare. When I moved to the south loop, the staff did not seem as interested in their jobs, but I continued to take her there. I got a call one day saying that she had to be taken out of daycare because she attempted to bite another dog's neck. I asked for more specifics and apparently, she had eyed a dog from the moment she got in, and waited for the worker to turn around, which is when she attacked. My dog is smart, but I''m pretty sure premeditated murder is not in her brain. She has NEVER attacked any dog, much less barked at any. However, I thanked her for letting me know. When I went to pick her up that night, they let me know that Elsa was not welcomed back at daycare. I was confused= as this had been the only time she'd apparently had an issue. They informed me that there was an issue the previous day with the same dog. Noone had notified me, and apparently, my dog spent the entire day in a kennel, while they charged me for daycare, and said she had a great day when I went to pick her up. I notified the store manager that their communication was poor. He apologized and told me he would ask the pets hotel manager to call me to explain why I hadn't been told of the first incident. Its been about 2-3 weeks and I've yet to receive a call. Clearly, these workers are there for the money, and not because they care about animals. Their communication is VERY poor. As a pet owner, I want to know if my dog has attempted to bite another, and why. Especially when she has zero history of being aggressive with any dog in daycare. I will NEVER shop there, or bring my dog for boarding. They have lost a customer for life. read more

This location is not smart. They are dumb. I went in the 1110 s. Canal and I'm looking for where the entrance is. I'm going up and down nothing. I call and said I'm confused about where they are. I tell him that this is a poor location and there are no clear directions. He hang up on me. Won't come get if I could even find it read more

As others have said, this location is borderline impossible to find. From Whole Foods, you have to go down a few flights of stairs, down an inflatable slide, and down a fire pole. Good luck with your stroller. And getting out of there, for that matter. There's a lower level parking down there, and I have NO idea how those cars got down there. I think the garage was built up around them. Clean, organized, and all et cetera. The grooming area here is pretty funny because you can watch the scared dogs freak out while getting themselves groomed. There's a pet hotel that has that 'look how elegant and fun this is' but I have a feeling that's just a front to some cages behind the scenes. A word of warning - you might enjoy your time here as much as I did, because I just lucked out and went when The World's Cutest Dog was there. You mad jealous. read more

My puppy has stayed at this PetsHotel a few of times when I've had to travel out of town. I love that they have times that accommodate my sometimes hectic schedule: I am able to drop my dog off early, or schedule a doggy day camp session for him if I can't return to pick him up until late. And, of the research that I've done on nearby pet boarding services, PetsHotel is by far the best bargain around if being able to watch your pet over a video stream isn't top priority. This place is no-frills. While I wish I could see how well my dog adapts when not at home, or how he interacts with other dogs, the report card that staff provide on my dog at the end of each visit, saying he is the life of the party, really makes my day. read more

My dog LOVES going to doggie day camp at the Petsmart PetHotel. The moment he hops out of my car it's a bee-line for the PetHotel! If you want to properly socialize your puppy/dog this is a good place to start. Since I work everyday I opt to leave my dog there the entire day so he is never alone. He gets dropped off after 9am and picked up before they close at 9pm. Each dog gets: o 3 hours of play with all the Day Campers in the morning from 9am to 12noon. o 4 hours of play with all the other Day Campers in the afternoon from 1pm to 5pm. o They are fed per your instructions. They will supply the food if you don't provide them with food, but you have to make sure you ask them to feed your dog, or your pooch will starve! o When they are not with the other Day Campers they are placed in a decent size crate per their size. All of this for $20 and your little Poo Poo McGoo is well cared for! By the time he gets home he is so tuckered out that he just plops on this bed and is asleep 'til the morning. I wish you could give a business 0 or negative stars. The grooming salon at this PetSmart location is absolutely deplorable. I left PetSmart earlier incredibly distressed at how my dog was treated during grooming. He had some matting so they had to preshave him. I stayed to watch that since the last time I brought him here and left he came back acting really timid and scared for two weeks and didn't even want to go on walks. I did not know why as he was fine before we left for grooming. We decided to give it another shot with a different groomer here. He generally does not like his face being shaved so he wriggles around a lot. The response from the groomer was pulling him around by his beard incredibly aggressively even as he was pulling away in pain and discomfort and then she left him hanging choked on the tie in lead for a few seconds when he tried to kick off the table. Instead of stopping letting him have a bit of a break she continued to press on and eventually gave up for a bit. I don't know about you, but personally I would not like being pulled around aggressively by my hair. The whole scenario brought me to tears to watch with incredible regret for bringing him there. I felt like I was paying PetSmart to abuse my dog. When I went to get him, the groomer told me he was aggressive during grooming with his face when I had seen the whole scenario. I think if you're going to be aggressive with my dog (who is generally incredibly sweet and friendly) then he has every right to be defensive. No other groomer has had issues with him before aside from him being wriggly. I am so incredibly disappointed in the treatment of my dog, and am surprised at the way that they would treat him even with windows open. Absolutely unacceptable. read more

Convenient and located near a lot of other stores where one can easily multishop! Located within the same building as Whole Foods, LA Fitness, Michael's and Visionworks (I think). Also very near Target, Dominick's, Walgreens, Best Buy. Shopping fiend? I think so! Kersten (sorry I'm sure I butchered that) was super helpful and very friendly. I went in with the hopes getting a couple totally awesome fish. I bought a giant fishbowl earlier in the day while thrifting and needed a partner for the match to be complete. Kersten politely crushed my hopes of getting a couple of cute fish and said the best bet for the bowl I had was to get a Betta. So I did! A cute fantail blue betta. She showed me all the stuff I needed to get for him, which wasn't much. He's home now and appears happy. Plus, he comes with a two week guarantee in case he gets into a freak shark attack, umm ok a cat attack is more likely in my apartment, but you get the picture. IF anything happens to him within two weeks I just have to reappear at Petsmart with the body and receipt and bam! new fish or money back. Ooooh and the best thing is I bought cat breath freshner! My cat has the smelliest breath on the planet, I'm hoping this stuff works. Just dump a small bit into her water and 2-3 days later I'm hoping for an Orbitz clean mouth for lil LuLu. read more

This is where we take the pup for his grooming. They always do a great job and even call me to remind me that it's time for him to come in for a grooming. The underground PetSmart has a friendly and helpful staff. They offer a good value, as I've looked into buying bulk pet supplies online and found the savings to be negligible compared to PetSmart. As this location is convenient to me, I plan to keep giving them my business. There are slight two detractions: 1) They sometimes don't have Eco-Bedding in stock; and 2) the live animals creep me out a little bit. In the interest of full disclosure, I was most recently here at a dog adoption event and not as a shopper, but I have shopped here before. Usually when I come in shopping, I just zip in, grab a bag of Pupperonis or rawhides, and zip out. The employees have always been friendly. But this time, I had the opportunity to see how much the employees care about animals. One gentleman (wish I knew his name, tall guy with a dark blonde mohawk) helped teach "sit" and "stay", and got one of the more excited dogs to stop barking just like a dog whisperer! It's always so good to see people who really care about their job. The only drawback is I expected the PetsHotel to be more like a, you know, hotel. It has a check-in desk like a hotel, but then it's a regular kennel in the back. Unless there's part I didn't see, I don't get what the big deal is. read more

I just recently got a puppy and this pet smart has been amazing from the staff always greeting him by name or the groomers helping him. The best part of this store is the training program. I have raised dogs before and never taken a puppy class, but, highly recommend the classes here. Taught me a whole new way to train a dog! The trainer I had was Rita Loretto and she was amazing to work with. She is patient, kind, caring and very helpful. She is great with the dogs and super helpful with one on one attention! This location is lucky to have her at their location! I recommend her and her classes to anyone!!!! read more

This location is the worse. Not only is it a maze trying to figure out where it is. The elevator smells horrible and it's really small. The outside area has dog poop smeared on the ground and it smells awful down there. Then not only did the store smell as well, we had to go searching for help while in the store and seemed almost impossible to get! It's the worst petsmart I've been to. We ended up leaving and not buying anything at all. I can't stress enough how awful it smells. read more

They must pay some low rent. It's impossible to get to via baby stroller if you have to go to Whole Foods or the other stores. The directions on the elevator have "Get there by foot..." and "Get there by car..." methods for Petsmart. Other than that, it''s a big, standard Petsmart. I'll be back to buy some goldfish. read more

I really like this PetSmart. First off, the parking is covered so on rainy, snowy, or otherwise unpleasant days I do not have to get soaked going back and forth. Yes, it is a bit tricky to find, but once you realize that you go down to park, you are golden! Second- the employees. They are awesome and dedicated to helping and making your shopping experience great. I have never met a surly or useless one. They have been friendly with my trepidacious pound pup and never pressed her a bit. They also take very good care of the rescue cats up for adoption in the enclosure. I have overheard conversations of concern and seen them playing with the cats. They also provide them with plenty of space. Thanks for being so caring. read more

I was very disappointed in their pet training. I called Because I was having some problems with an 8 lb Yorkie mix that I was fostering and planning to adopt. The trainer, Rita, was quick to call back and I brought Fiona in so she could evaluate her. I brought all the necessary papers from the rescue showing her shots And was surprised when I showed up for the appointment that all she did was look at her and say puppy class and refused my documentation. I paid for 1/2 hour private class $45 and 6 week puppy class $119. Fiona is 2 to 3 years old. When we arrived on time for her private lesson, she was on the phone and Didn't acknowledge us standing and waiting. For whatever reason she thought that next to the cash registers with music blasting was the perfect place for a private lesson. She was unprepared and unprofessional . She demanded the documentation From the Shelter and the receipt for payment. She made several comments that bordered on ridiculous And I then demanded we call it a day and was able to get a refund. She did apologize for the remark but Really too little too late. Perhaps she is overworked, Or it was a really bad day. I won't be calling them again for any training for future pets. read more

Well it took me some time to find it... I didn't know it was under the Whole Foods... so once I found it I was too happy =) I had called ahead to find out if they had a specific item. I came in to see tons of toys.. yippee =) I got GREAT customer service from manager and sales folks. I will definetly return and make more friends down there under the sidewalk. LOL Well stocked, clean and friendly.. what more can you ask for? read more

We like to bring our dog here for boarding while we go out of town. This is one of our usual go-to's for boarding. One thing I really like, they're open on Sundays, so if you're getting away for a quick weekend and can be back in time - that's a great way to trim a day off of boarding. Our pup seems to like the place a lot, though we haven't had many in-depth conversations about it for obvious reasons. I agree with Sabrina, I dislike that they require bordatella every six months, but hey - what can you do. My vet says it's not unheard of and I guess they're concerned about the safety of all of the pets there. ... Or want to avoid lawsuits. Or both! This place is a tad pricey, but like I mentioned, if you're able to cut a day off of boarding by picking your pet up on Sunday, it's hard to beat that! read more

Everywhere we turn we get a staff to ask us if we need help on anything. I kind of like it for the attention we can get. As new pet owners we asked questions about crates and stuff so we did get some questions answered. One thing they do push are the pet training courses. This place is definitely a treat to dogs since they get treats at the checkout lane! I think this place will be better if there are food samples for dogs before we set out to buy a hefty bag of dog chow. read more

This place has friendly staff, has the necessities for a pet store and conveniently located below Whole Foods market with ample parking spaces. What turned me off was one experience I had one time. We were looking for an automatic food dispenser for cats for our week long trip. We were able to find the one for dogs, but we couldn't find the same kind we already have for cats (We have two cats with one dispenser, and it has been an issue because the bigger male has eaten up what's dispensed and the smaller female cat ended up eating nothing). So we asked for the cat one, and the clerk said they don't carry it anymore, so we had to buy the one for dogs (40 bucks more, plus it's too big that only the biggest cats would be able to use it, we were fortunate on that one). Weeks later, we went to PetSmart on near North ave, and surprise! They had the exact same machine that we had with the same price for our first one! So apparently it was never discontinued, and another shop had it. I think one check-up online would have given us at least the info that another store has it, so that we could make a decision on if we would just buy one there or drive up to save some money. I think staff members should know better about what they sell. read more

PetsHotel has been Kobe's temporary home many times during the past couple years. The first time he went, he was pretty mad when he came out. Maybe he was getting beat up during day care time, who knows. Kobe is kind of a wimp. Since then he seems to have a better time -- but he still has to be dragged in with his claws scraping on the linoleum floor. From my perspective, the place is great. Large area, clean, and big windows from the lobby area to check out the conditions. They even allow you to call your dog when you're away -- apparently they'll hold the dog up to the phone. I haven't done this, sounds a little too crazy, but it's cool I guess. They have great hours for drop-off and pick-up, and prices aren't too bad. read more
