This is specifically for the grooming department, I had issues with Banfield in the past but they really will work hard to fix and the store and trainer are really good so please understand that this revue is for the groomers. I had my dog groomed yesterday nice service and nice people but my dog looks so bad, he has extra hair all over the place and major patches, I can't even look at him, I called and they said they will fix which is a good thing but why do I have to go back when they could have got it done right first time? how could you let a dog out looking this bad, second, his cut is super short which what I wanted but if I take him to fix the patches, he will be bold. I will have to wait a couple weeks before I fix. I don't recommend you to take your dog there, they will not have a second chance. Is it me or this response was border line rude Im sorry you where unhappy but you got it fixed! You had one groomer out of 8 that work at that salon. And no we are not all the same. Just a little recommendations being a groomer hopper will not help your dog or you being happy with the groom. find a groomer that you like and mold Him/her to how you want your dog to be groomed. When you go to the PetSmart on Bascom check out a young lady with pink hair whose name unfortunately escapes me. She was knowledgeable and interested in the issue I was having with my dog's food and really helpful without pressuring me to buy anything specific. Horrible. Only reason I am giving them two stars is because the Manager Mike helped me. I wanted to return a muzzle because it didn't fit my dog and I thought "oh hey might as well get a leash too!" So I grab the leash and go in line. The Mexican lady with glasses, I believe her name was Maria or something like that, kept asking me for my phone number even though I had the PHYSICAL receipt in my hand and I had the emailed receipt. Last time I came, all the person did was scan my barcode and returned the item. Super fast right? Well the lady "Maria" kept pestering me about my phone number and since it was getting close to closing I was in a rush and told her to just return it. She made me feel so bad in front of other guests because she kept saying " why don't you want to give me your phone number? Why? Give it to me" what kind of customer service is that??? She then calls Mike over without even trying to attempt the return and starts yelling at me for being rude and starts to point fingers like it was my fault???!! I was in shock. Like .. I just want to return this and get a leash and be on my way... Mike came, I explained the situation and he did the whole return and purchase in under 2 minutes without my phone number! The lady also complained to the customer behind me and the customer even told her that what she was doing wasn't right. Since I also speak Spanish, I understood what she was telling her other coworkers that were beside her and Honestly I don't think I'll be coming here anymore. Petco is a little more expensive but it definitely has way better service that this. read more

I took my dog Prudence in for a nail trim and grinding. I was expecting to see trimmed nails that had been ground down and shaped. This was NOT the case. You'd never know they had been ground much less trimmed. They are so long, I will need to take her in again by next week. Don't waste your money here. read more

We took our dog here for a simple grooming and went through a nightmare. She was attacked while on the grooming table strapped in, by a German Sheppard. It bit her and drew blood. They never told us exactly what happened and after months of trying to get them to change their policies since we have found three other occassions where dogs were killed while at PetSmart, they refused. I brought my large dog to this store's groomers and was delighted with how much was performed for $30.99. They performed a bath, trimmed nails, expressed anal glands, cleaned ears, and brushed out loose hair. My dog looks and smells great. This is the absolute cheapest rate I have found anywhere, so I will certainly be a repeat customer. I see no sense in paying $50-$80 like most groomers around the south bay charge. The store of course has good selection of retail pet items, but the retail items are usually overpriced. Sometimes bargains can be found during sales and in clearance bins. The groomer staff were kind to my dog even though he is a bit skittish when going to the groomers. They said he gets nervous when being blow dried, but he is getting used to it now. read more

This place has a warehouse feel but not warehouse prices. Their selection is pretty limited but the store itself is spacious. Not really a fan of big brand pet stores. This is for grooming, not retail: They get turnover, which is understandable, but it seems like every time I take my dog there, there is a new groomer, and it just seems to get worse. My dog comes back looking different every time, and the last time, her face was still dirty from being outside earlier that day, and they hadn't even trimmed the fur around her paws. The groomers have super long nails, and I just don't see it's hygienic to go from one dog to another. And, maybe it's just as well for them to avoid the face, because they could poke an eye out. A couple of groomers are very good, but the others don't even look like they like dogs, to begin with. read more

This is the second time that I've had to get my money back for a haircut that they did on my West Highland white terrier. Clearly these groomers are inexperienced. Not only did they not get the "Westie Cut" right, but it was just a shotty job for a plain old ordinary dog grooming haircut. I've had to take my dog back because they missed nails that they were supposed to trim. I have serious doubts that they do everything that they charge for. I recommend that you don't have Monique groom your dog. She just happens to the most recent groomer that botched the job. read more

We take our 10-year-old yellow lab, Zak, to the groomers here. They are always super nice and do a great job. He gets really excited to go and is always very happy after. He sheds A LOT, and they do a great job brushing all the extra fur off. He is older and has some health issues, but they work with him because he has a hard time standing for long periods of time. Please do not purchase betta fish here. It should be obvious from looking at them that they are all pretty unhappy little dudes, but I finally decided to take a chance when I saw one I really wanted. I got him home and got him all set up in a 5.5 gallon tank, heater, filter, beneficial bacteria from my other tanks, etc. I spent hours working on this so I could get him warmed up and in the tank. After the first day I noted that he never swam down to the bottom of the tank. He just floated at the top and would frequently end up on his side. At this point it also became pretty obvious that he had a curved spine. After watching him some more over a couple of days, I noted that he had zero appetite and could never move from the top of the water. Swimming in itself was a massive struggle. I believed this to be fish TB which is an incurable and highly contagious disease. I made the decision that I would have to return this guy asap due to the risk of possibly contaminating one of my other tanks on accident. Unfortunately I have to toss all of the live plants and marimo ball which also causes me to lose $25 in the process. Long story short: I bought a betta fish. He turned out to be incredibly sick, possibly with something incurable and highly contagious. The symptoms were not easily noticeable at the store in the betta cup since all the fish look miserable and float at the top. If you're looking for a betta, please consider shopping elsewhere where the owners are more apt to notice an ailing fish. read more

A good basic big box pet store. They always say hello when you walk in and if you wander around a while, they ask if they can help find anything. They have inexpensive fish tanks/stands, basic tropical fish that looks relatively healthy. No floaters or diseased looking inhabitants. I have shopped here for a long time because it was close by and they have a good assortment for my pets. My daughter loves this place because the assortment of pets available. We bought our cat here and absolutely love him, he is the most beautiful cat I have ever seen. The great thing is they brought him to our house and told us how to take care of him. Awesome! We have also bought fish and hamsters here. Yes, it is a bit pricey but usually have what we are looking for. Sometimes the people aren't as helpful and friendly but a lot of the time they are. There were moments that weren't so nice too... I was shopping for stuff for our dog (yes we have a dog too) I was headed down the isle and in the middle of the isle was a dog mess. Imagine that! A owner allowed there dog to do this in the store and didn't clean it up!! OK, the owner was too blame for this. If owners are allowed to bring there pets in they should take full responsibility for there pets! It was cleaned up right away. I was very disappointed in the pet clinic here. The one time I considered taking my pets here and also buying specialty food for my cats problem I wasn't treated nicely. I walked in to the clinic and the girl on the phone was talking on the phone and didn't once say "Hello, I will be with you in a moment" No acknowledgment at all in 10 mins that I was there!! So I went some place else...VCA for my cats needs. It might have changed since then but first impressions of a place are very important. There are two major pet foods suppliers my area, Pet Smart and Petco. Service is good with both but Petsmart generally has the lower prices of the two. There are cheaper warehouse suppliers like Pet Club, and Pet Depot but they have Limited locations which are not convenient for me. Many people I know use Petsmart and Petco for small convenience purchases but make their larger purchases at the large discount warehouses. read more

I wouldn't recommend having your dog groomed here. I took my two dogs here to be groomed. The groomer said they were both very hard to groom and they would need to charge extra next time, there are two very small dogs and very mild mannered I was quite surprised. Whilst I was there a customer came back with her dog as she was not happy with the service, again they tried to charge her extra because her six month old puppy was wriggly! My Maltese was screaming in pain when I picked him up, it seems like he was roughly handled and was very sore for days afterwards. read more

The store is clean, well organized and employees are friendly. The only two problems I would say is that sometimes, it's hard to find someone to help you find what you need or answer your questions. And two, they are not very knowledgeable when it comes to answering questions regarding small pet care. From what I understand, certain people work in certain departments and the ones who work in small pets don't know anything. Do your research before hand or you will end up buying stuff you don't need or that is potentially harmful to your little critter. I just took my 4mo old yorkie mix to get her 1st haircut today! I chose petsmart because of their " look great" guarantee. Which means if I was unsatisfied with how my puppy turned out than the haircut is free. Anyhow, she turned out fantastic. The groomer (who I highly recommend. Her name is Amanda) was very friendly and made me and my puppy feel very comfortable. My puppy came back smelling and looking great. She was ready at the time promised and she even had a little bow in her hair when I picked her up. I will definitely be coming back when my puppy needs her next haircut and I will definitely be requesting Amanda! Plus the convenience of the grooming salon inside petsmart is awesome. I can buy my dog food or whatever else I need for my puppy Lucy and get her groomed all at once. read more

I'm bothered that they don't stand behind their products. I bought a fish tank timer and it broke after seven months. When I went back for a replacement, even with receipt, they wouldn't exchange it. This is a $60 timer that I bought for the fish tank in my classroom. PetSmart wasn't a smart choice this time. read more

When my fish of ten years got cooked (literally---the submersible heater malfunctioned), my cat got depressed. So, we got a new tank and looked around for fish to entertain him. Some of the other local pet stores had sad looking fish (fins down or swimming sideways). Its a bad sign when you see dead fish in the tanks. But this place was very clean, the fish looked happy, healthy and alert, and had all the supplies you would need. I had been up to the PetSmart in Sequim, Washington and was very impressed. This place is pretty good too. Very attentive staff and knowledgeable about the fish. The fish are happy in their new tank and my cat is happy too staring at them. read more

Normally when I come in it resembles that of a small town in tornado alley that just had a twister roll through. I really love going to this store!! I find it very easy to spend lots of money here. They always have exactly what I need and even much much more. I have a 12 lb Jack Russel/Chihuahua and I love to go there to get her food, treats and clothing. The staff is usually very friendly and ready to help. We get our fish and doggie food from this PetSmart. They usually never have our pups' brand of doggie food in the larger size. However, after letting the cashier know (Roxanne?) she let us know we could pick up smaller bags to equal the ounces of the larger size for the same price as the single large bag! I see that many people hate this place for grooming and etc. I don't know about that, I didn't use that service, but I'm giving them 5 stars for the aquarium department. They don't have that much choice there, to be honest, and only freshwater, but what they have look perfect, brilliant. Super clean aquariums and water, no dead fish, all creatures looked happy swimming around. All 4 times that I visited the store during this year, aquarium staff was helpful and looked smart. I personally saw them cleaning tanks and taking care of creatures. Maybe I was just lucky with staff, but aquariums definitely look clean and healthy. They surprised me with that. read more

This review is for the grooming salon only. 1. I dropped the dog off at 9:30am on my way to work for 11am appointment. They said they can only hold the dog for 3-4 hours. So either i have to come back right before 11am to drop off, or unless i can pick up the dog on a moment's notice. Fine, I will pick my dog up when they call. 2. Thy saw my dog is a little matted. They will charge $23 extra, plus their normal price of $45, it's $68 for a toy poodle haircut. What a ripe off. I have been to Sunnyvale Petsmart for a few years. They always charges $40 a haircut. never more. They never complaint about me dropping my dog off early. I know it's not good to keep my doggy in the kennel for long. This joint is rigged. Do NOT take your pets to PetSmart to get groomed! I just took my even tempered, sweet 2 year old cattle dog. What a disaster! We had an appointment booked for today (Saturday) at 3pm. We showed up on time with all the required vaccination paperwork. The staff was rude and barely paid attention to me or my dog. They took him back and told me it would be 2-3 hours. 2-3 hours for a simple bath, brush and nail trim?! Plus all the dogs getting groomed behind the counter looked terrified. Against my best judgement, I let the tattooed "groomer" take my dog. 4 hours later I have not received a call about my dog so I call them. They put me on hold to go look for my dog. Finally the guy comes back to the phone and tells me my dog is ready, but they could not do his nails because he was trying to bite. (My dog is a boy and the staff member insisted upon calling him a girl multiple times.) I went to pick him up and again, no one paid attention to me. When they brought my dog out they told me, very defensively, that they couldn't do my dog's nails because he was trying to bite and that they had multiple people hold him down, but decided not to do his nails for "safety" reasons. I explained that this is ridiculous. He has never biten and is a very calm dog. The only reason why he would bite is if he is handled roughly, cannot see the person working with him or the person does not announce themselves before setting to work. Judging by what I saw when I showed up, I'm going to guess the answer is all 3. The grooming staff all brushed me off and told me to speak to a manager if I really want to. So I marched right up to the manager. She also did not seem to concerned and brushed it off as a "Saturdays are really busy. You should come back another time to get his nails done." I am beyond frustrated. The only reason I brought my dog in to be groomed was to get his nails done. Not only cannot you not do my dogs nails because he is apparently especially difficult (highly doubtful), but you also keep him a full hour past what was promised and NEVER CALL?! Really? Your prices are way higher than Amazon, so I usually do price matching when I come to your stores. But this store manager apparently doesn't match Amazon prices (why do different stores have different policies? ) Needless to say, I didn't buy any of the items I had and found another pet store across the street called Pets and More. I didn't even know they existed until now. I found better dog food and their price was CHEAPER than Amazon.
