For a chain pet store, this PetSmart locations grooming is actually stellar! I booked a bath and brush for my (very curly) doodle about two days in advance, and was pleased to hear back from the groomer I selected the next day to confirm his appointment. I added an extra 15 minutes of brushing,to detangle his fur a bit, and a nail grind (nail trim is included, but I wanted the edges softened). I was surprised when I saw him 3 hours later, fur soft and smooth after a blow dry. He was completely free of all tangles and smelled fantastic! His paws and sanitary areas were also shaved down as per my request! The groomer was Michael, and overall I was extremely satisfied with his work! Overall, I will definitely be coming back to this specific location for at least future bath/brush appointments. I have yet to get the full haircut with a PetSmart groomer, but when spring comes around I can see myself bringing this curly boy here for the unavoidable full shave.

Ongoing bad behavior... Zach appears to be asleep at the wheel. First he was extremely flat. Then he charged me twice for an item for which I had paid cash. I went to my car, noticed the overage and returned to the store immediately. Again in his very flat manner he processed my return. The topper, he insisted I give him a debit card to get my refund. I asked, "why I just paid cash." With a bit of wall-eye from dear Zach, I got my cash back. Hmmm....no apologizes or even a "Have a nice day" upon my departure. So much for good customer service.

Update: I still like the convenience and work of their grooming salon, and still go here for dog food, treats and toys. Downgrading from 5 to 3 for a couple of reasons. First or all, the online stock didn't match the physical stock when I went to buy dog food recently. Second, they need more staff. I've had a hard time finding customer service the past couple times I've had a question. It will do for your pet needs, but could do better.

    Time for a few supplies!

This chain has a large variety of food, supplies and attire for pets. Dogs are welcome, and staff is very friendly. Prices are reasonable and the experience is pretty much what you might expect. There is also grooming services in the back, as well.

    My Husky AFTER her "trim"

First of all, I want to call out that this review is solely based on the Grooming Salon - the cashiers & staff in the store have always been so helpful & friendly. But after coming to this salon for almost a full year, the heinous events of yesterday have prompted this review: Has the service always been perfect in the past? Absolutely not. It's actually very hit-or-miss with this location - sometimes they do what you request, other times they do whatever they want, but the end product has never been such a huge issue that I've felt the need to raise any concern or leave a bad review. However, yesterday I dropped off my Husky for her bi-monthly trim. As anyone who owns a husky or knows anything about heavy coated dogs, you're not supposed to shave them down. You're supposed to keep their undercoat as much intact so that it helps them regulate their temperature, especially in this TX heat. That's why we only take her in every other month and brush her out at home diligently to avoid any matting... So I drop off my dog in the morning for her appointment. I meet with her new groomer to explain to him exactly what we want - both my husband & I explained we just want her trimmed down, cleaned up. We do NOT want to affect her undercoat & definitely don't want to go to short. The groomer responded that he understood, made his assessment, and then took her in for her service... Fast forward to me picking her up and my poor husky has been practically shaved down!!! You can actually see her skin in certain spots. There is literally no more undercoat. My poor dog now has to remain indoors until she gets some of her coat back for fear of heat stroke & sun burn. Nevermind the cosmetic issue that she looks like a completely different breed of dog now. Please, do yourself a favor, and take your dog ANYWHERE else. If you can make the drive (which I no longer can but used to) take them to the PetSmart in South Park Meadows - probably the best PS Groomers in Austin, or go to literally any local groomer. I've included a before & after for reference, so you can see how INSANE this is... after expressing my shock & disbelief, the groomer even had the audacity to say "I'll add your preference to the notes for her next appointment." No way in hell I am ever bringing my dog back here!

PetSmart/ their grooming employees are severely misinformed. My dog was turned away at his appointment due to him having heart worms. My dog is undergoing treatment so he has no symptoms and appears to be in great health. PetSmart allowed me to book the appointment and proceed with a Check In knowing he is HW positive. Customer service told me it's because HW is a "contagious disease" (it is not) and because "he's not in good health" (arbitrary). There is not a single policy on PetSmart's website that alludes HW being unserviceable. So disappointing and a huge waste of time.

Apparently husky's are too much work. Pictures of the difficult patients.

Transformative Online Training, Truly Beyond Words!…read more We are so grateful for Allegra and her incredible online training program. We took in two stray dogs who were wild, anxious, and completely untrusting. We weren't sure where to begin and it was chaotic for us, until we found her. Through her online courses and virtual sessions, she helped guide us step by step with patience, wisdom, and a technique that honestly goes beyond words. Even though we never met in person, her presence and deep understanding of animal behavior came through in every interaction. With her support, our dogs have started to trust us, calm down, and settle into their new life. The change has been remarkable. It feels like a miracle to see them open up and begin to feel safe and loved. If you're dealing with fearful or reactive dogs, do not hesitate to work with Allegra. Her approach is compassionate, intuitive, and truly life-changing. Thank you, Allegra, so much!!

It's much more wide ranging than training that's only focused on commands like sit/stay/down/etc (though you can work on all of those with the Naked Dog's programs too). Before we signed up for the group training series, I was at my wit's end with our recently adopted dog. He had a lot of behavioral issues, ranging from chewing things in the house, overall excitability, constant attempts to eat pecans and, worse, trash on walks (and often succeeding despite our best efforts & requiring steady doses of probiotics and even a vet visit to induce vomiting), and lunging on leash at dogs and passing vehicles. We also noticed that when we took him to the dog park, he'd play really rambunctiously and generally go 0-60, including running and body checking other dogs (not the best strategy for harmonious playing). The great part about this series is that it's three in-person sessions (we added a fourth for some additional coaching) and the rest is a series of online lessons. This made it easy for us to work through at our own pace. In the online portion, the end of every lesson included video homework that we'd send in and get feedback from one of the Naked Dog trainers -- this was great because it captured us applying these skills in a total real world setting, without the presence of a trainer to coach us or influence our dog to be on his best behavior. Fast forward a couple months, and now we feel confident that we can handle any situation with our dog, including taking him to busy and distracting environments and responding to misbehavior. He's mellowed out so much -- he isn't perfect, but it feels like we've reached an understanding. He went from my problem child to my sidekick. He can walk in a heel, he comes when called, and will wait at the door before we say he can come in. It feels like he's looking to us as leaders and that he's truly settled in as part of our family. We followed the Naked Dog's recommendations for introducing dogs for the first time when we took him over to a friend's house to meet their dogs, and they remarked on what a good dog he is, and that he's better behaved than other dogs they've petsitted, so now we have a worry-free petsitting option. I also now take him by our neighborhood park on walks and let him meet other dogs, which used to be a wild activity full of leash pulling and jumping. The Naked Dog taught us what to look for in reading dogs' behavior so that we can spot polite vs rude behavior and manage their interactions before they start getting too wild, which is a truly priceless part of this training seminar.

The owner does need to be diligent with taking their dog to the trainings (we kind of fell off at the end but it was okay) but as long as you stick with it, your dog will learn new skills and will be better behaved than before. She has learned to stay in her place for as long as we need her to be. The people at the facility that I interacted with or capable and knew what they were doing. My dogs were obedient to the trainers when I picked them up. However, the two 30 minute to 45 minutes training sessions were supposed to be 1hour sessions but we're cut short because other customers were arriving. We did not have enough time with the trainers to become skilled at reinforcing what our dogs had learned. We did get written instructions and email instructions. But for the price, I thought we would get more thorough training. The owner Lisa is knowledgeable and nice. Austin, her son, answers the phone he is also very nice. Leaving my dogs at their facility was stressful. I was told I would have communication and pictures or videos daily. What they didn't tell me is the pictures our poses and videos that match canned statements, not real communication about my dog and only once daily. I was given the direct phone number of the owner but couldn't reach her until three or four calls were made. I felt upset that I couldn't determine my dogs well-being from the poses and the canned comments that were generic to every dog. It was upsetting waiting for a callback. I couldn't visit my dogs while they were boarded for training and one of the pictures they looked very stressed. So I was upset by the time. I finally got a callback. The owner Lisa was helpful when she called back. I did get more personal interaction from the trainers. After speaking with Lisa. When I had a scheduling issue, she was also accommodating. My issue is when we got our dogs home we were not trained to reinforce what they had learned. We are not trained to get the results we saw when we picked up the dogs from boarding training. Then there are the group classes. They last for six months. I had terrible health problems for two months and could not attend and they will only allow me one month credit even though I offered MD proof that I was sick. So two months later, our two, very reactive Frenchies in tow, we were late to class and exhausted due to late night, long flight delays. I called talked to Austin told him we would be 36 minutes late.. He said no problem come on in, we will take care of you when you arrive. After a 45 minute drive , we arrived and employee Jerry was very rude. Turned us away and said "I don't know what to tell you, class is over why are you here"? I explained what Austin had said, Jerry said again. "I don't know what to tell you class is over" and shrugged. I called Austin back, he said "I don't know what to say, sorry come back next week". Even though we arrived at the exact time, I told Austin we would arrive. I expect better customer service for $6,000. The sales pitch I was given, led me to believe they would be very present knowledgeable, and helpful. that has not consistently been our experience. We attended class today and were pleasantly surprised. Lisa was teaching and it was a good class. We went over the basics of what they had taught our dogs and how to do it at a very basic level. I feel like I should've had today's training and several other training sessions during the time my dogs were being boarded and trained. There would've been more value in boarding them if I was better equipped to deal with them when they got home.
