VERY disappointed that they will not provide my puppy with a full breed specific cut. They want to provide my puppy with a trim only although he has been fully groomed before and knows the process. I do understand that he is young, but I believe they should follow through with the owners desires especially if the dog/puppy has experienced it. No where on their website do they state anything about puppies. I am only leaving a one star review for the grooming, I have not experienced the rest of the services they offer. The owners and staff always take very good care of our senior dog. They go out if their way to make sure they are comfortable and oftentimes, they appointments are done in an hour or less! They operate with integrity. Offering doggie daycare, training and grooming for all doggos. Highly recommend! Wait times are a bit more lengthy due to Covid Best Practices so be a bit flexible. Even if my dog has an appointment at 10Am, they still allow me to drop him off as early as 7 or 8am. I would've taken a better picture of my buddy, but he doesn't like his picture taken. Took my 10 month old Cavalier King Charles for his first grooming appointment, and the staff did a fantastic job! I asked for a trim to even out his long and unruly coat. The entire process (from drop off to pick-up) took around 2 hours. He came home looking and feeling great, and the staff were super friendly as well! read more

I recently took Julie's basic obedience class. She is fantastic. It has greatly enhanced the bond between my dog and I. I must share that at a dog show in Midland TX my dog somehow slipped his lead. He is an easily spooked dog and we were in the parking lot with lots of noise and miles of desert he could have run off into. I called him to come to me and he did. Please go to Yelp first before purchasing anything! Thankfully yelp had a coupon and we were able to save on our dogs training. The host was very kind and accommodating to get us into October and November trainings. Our bully mix is only seven months old and she was the youngest in the class. We chose to get our pepper some training because dogs that look like pit bulls have bad stereotypes and our pup is the sweetest and this training really helped bring out the beautiful side of our pepper. From 7 PM to 8 PM the trainer explains each rule and expectation for everyone. She gave really good suggestions and commendation when our puppy was doing good. Because our puppy is so young and looks like a pitbull we felt a little defeated in the beginning but slowly warmed up and everyone in the class was like a small family it was cute. I would strongly suggest you take your puppy to this class or a class similar so asked to have a good relationship with your dog and be able to take him or her with you anywhere and not be afraid or concerned. The space was huge and inside so we weren't having to cross contaminate anyone or anything. Masks were required at all time. I especially want to thank Julie and her super generous dedicated trainers/"students" (hard to call them students...they looked like trainers with their well behaved dogs!) who stayed late to help get my ol' girl Magz tested as a Good Canine Citizen. Magz has advanced arthritis...rescued her from Class Canines at the Austin Animal Center at age 10. At age almost 14, she has very bad elbows and hips. Julie went beyond the call of duty to proactivity inquire about testing options approved by the AKC for senior dogs who have slow and limited mobility. Most facilities would have taken my money over and over again to train a dog who finds it hard to get into certain positions. But not this school...they immediately asked if I wanted to try the test and I was delighted. Magz passed with flying colors. (She followed directions better than me. LOL.) I'm assuming that this is a one-off occurrence since all of the other reviews are fairly positive. I have a large Sheepadoodle (80#) and my regular groomer had a health emergency and needed to cancel our appointment for the following day. I was concerned that it may be a month or more before he could handle such a large dog. I messaged ACC and they were quick to respond and able to fit her in quickly. I told them that she needs to be wore out a bit before grooming, which is why I was excited about them providing daycare services. I was there at 7am to drop her off. They said that the groomer starts at 9am, so she could play with the other dogs until then. I was surprised to learn that the dogs are kenneled for a majority of the time, and I should have been late for work and taken her home, but I proceeded as they ensured me that the dogs are tired and ready to go into the kennels. I told them that I'd be back around 4pm to get her and she understood. I was called at 10:00am and said that she was ready to be picked up. I was shocked to say the least because it normally takes 4-5 hours at any other groomer. She said that my dog would be in daycare until I come by that evening. I came to pick her up a little after 3pm and the office was silent. An older lady was at the desk and I told her who I was and she got up to get my dog. She walked thru a closet door and turned on the light where I was able to see a wall of kennels and dogs immediately started barking. It took her over 5 minutes to reemerge with my dog, who's pulling on the leash harder than I've ever seen before! The lady actually had to let go before the dog pulled her over. My dog ran to me and sat at my feet, whining and crying. I noticed the bottom few inches of her feet were wet and yellow, along with part of her chest. I smelled them and could pickup hints of urine, but they had sprayed her with some type of perfume. I was infuriated, but maintained my composure and left before yelling at this older lady and probably regretting it later. I did take photos as soon as I got in my truck, and started typing this review while in the parking lot, but decided to sleep on it before tarnishing a small business. I washed her feet once we got home and got her ready for the Halloween activities happening on the following day, she was dressing up as Harley Quinn. On the first of November, I was rinsing the pink and blue coloring off of her ears and noticed that one of them is packed with ear mites. I have a dog with floppy ears, I realize that they need to be properly cleaned during a bath and dried appropriately to avoid mites, she hasn't had an issue for over two years. Either this occurred after the grooming because she wasn't properly dried (I've never seen mites get this bad that quickly), or the groomer didn't notice it and clean accordingly (or even let me know). Either way, that was the straw that made me type this miniature novel. Overall, the location isn't great, the people weren't overly friendly, and the services were the worst I've ever experienced. I will not be back. As I said, this may be a one time incident and everything snowballed, but it was a terrible experience. read more

The basic obedience training class was absolutely excellent. My 8-month old puppy is high energy and she absolutely loved the instructor, Julie. She is so much calmer and well-behaved since taking the class. We will be continuing with the Beyond Basic class and taking the Canine Good Citizen exam at Austin Canine Central with Julie. This class was the best dog training I have ever participated in. Julie took a personal interest in each and every one of the dogs in the class and provided individualized guidance when class members asked questions that were particular to their dog. I was in the same class as Layne H., and was even right next to he and his dog in the class, and I truly have no clue where his negative review came from. He said his dog had issues with women, though maybe it's not the dog? I highly recommend Austin Canine Central. read more

I really like this place! It is a great concept! I've only been here for play groups with my pups but I love the set up. They have a really nice indoor space with a great type of flooring that is very pup friendly and add offers extra padding to their high impact play. I feel like the mirror is a great touch too! Gives the pups a bit of extra stimulation and I'm sure it helps a ton in working with show pups which is one of the main courses here. The owners are really great too! I spent a lot of time talking to the wife about their classes and trainers and very much enjoyed learning about the different events they attend. She was super friendly and if I didn't work at a doggy daycare I would make the trek to their place for daycare! That's how much I believe in their service, I'd recommend them to anyone in their area! The other thing I liked is that they offer brands of food and training treats that I haven't seen before! I personally used their Real Meat treats for my kiddos and they worked amazing for training! They also sell a Real Meat seasoning that is dried out meats that are blended to a powder and without a doubt the best thing to help a pup find an appetite! My border collie mix has been going to daycare at ACC 4-5x/week for the past 3 years, and he loves it! Gunner is the kind of dog that can get anxious in unfamiliar places and especially with unfamiliar dogs. When we started the staff worked hard to find a good "play group" for him and to start him slow in order to make sure he was safe. Nowadays he practically dances through the door in the mornings and is very happy to see the staff. Best grooming experience ever! My dog gets nervous at new places and I always try to find a groomer that limits the time they are away from home. This groomer wins! I called the day before and asked for their availability and they had an opening the next day, which was awesome as many places I called weren't available until next week or month. I dropped Coco off at 7 am and was called by 8:15 that she was ready. Her haircut was exactly like the pictures I showed the groomer and was very affordable! read more

Update: I talked to the manager this morning who apologized and gave me a full refund. She said dogs that are aggressive are not supposed to be in the classes. I appreciated her apology and willingness to try and make it right for me. Very disappointed. I took my dog Babo to the Obedience class. There were two classes going on at the same time and I couldn't hear the instructor at all. There was an aggressive dog at the class who kept barking at my dog. They did nothing about it and told me to just listen. Without a mic I couldn't hear anything and felt really left out to dry. The instructor didn't seem enthusiastic or even happy to be there. Finally I just left halfway through class. No one followed me out, no one said anything at all. Really expected a better level of customer service and a little support based on the reviews and was surprised they didn't do anything about the aggressive dog distracting the class. Will not be returning and will look into a more positive space to train my angel. read more

The groomer didn't have patience with my dogs and when I went to pick them up she was yelling at the dog on her table. While this is bad, even WORSE my boy dog was so upset he got stress diarrhea in the parking lot. My dogs (while they are not crazy About going to the groomers have NEVER reacted this way. I don't have that much experience with other doggy day cares as this was my first and only choice so far. But from my experience, the ladies really do seem to care about the dogs they take care of. Little things that I notice: They remember my dog's name and always seem genuinely happy to see him. He's 8 months old and very much a puppy, but they have so much patience when taking care of him. I love the ladies that I drop the dogs of with: very friendly and accommodating, and one of them reminds me of my grandmother. Cleanliness: From what I've observed, the area is kept very clean. I personally enjoy the fact that they have a HUGE enclosed and air conditioned space for the dogs to run around in. It's the same area that they also hold obedience classes, which I'll probably be doing soon. I've never once walked in and had the feeling that the place wasn't kept clean, even with all the dogs they have. What my puppy thinks: I can't read his mind, but from what I can see he LOVES this place and the ladies there. He practically pulls me through the door when we walk in (that my be a product of bad habits that I've let allowed him) and he is genuinely very happy to be greeted by the ladies there. When I pick him up and he's in the car seat next to mine I swear he's thanking for me what an awesome and fun day he's having. Price: I buy the $180 ten pack because I take him to day care every day of the week. I think $18 a day is more than a reasonable price for a well exercised and socialized puppy. I can without a doubt vouch for my puppy's great experience. If you live near the area, this should be your #1 choice. read more

I see a lot of people enjoy this training center. I did not. I was scolded in my second class for not being able to do the exercises the trainer was trying to teach me Andy dog. It was a very negative environment and I almost walked out I was so upset. I know others on the class were very aware of it as well. A learning environment should be positive. Took my rescue dog here after rescuing her in July for an 8 week basic obedience class. She just turned 2 and only knew sit. This class blew all expectations I had. Ann helped me learn how my dog thinks and responds to me. I may have learned how to train my dog for basic commands but I now have skills to help her and any other dog I rescue to learn lifelong good behaviors. We had a slew of small puppies to big adult dogs in our small 5-6 dog class. Ann adapted to every dog that was there and individually worked with us and took our concerns into account with our dogs personality in mind. She has so much experience and kept us aware of next steps like Canine Good Citizen, agility, etc as training for our furry children never stops if we want them to continue to be their best. The instructor was always helpful and open to answering questions by email so you could come to class prepared and ready to succeed. But the proof is in the pudding. As a fanatical dog owner, I chose ACC almost three years ago as the regular playground for my new Ridgeback puppy. I thoroughly researched quality, safety, expertise, and location and came to what has become one of the best decisions I ever made for my dog. HE LOVES IT - again - HEEE LOOOVES IT! Took my dog here for grooming. They were done super fast and were understanding when I was running late, due to it being a stormy morning. It is a bit dated as others have mentioned, but it doesn't bother me too much. The price I was quoted ended up being a bit more more than what I was told, and the groomer had left by the time I was able to pick up my pup, so I wasn't able to ask her what the increase was about, but it wasn't a huge amount. I didn't realize they have day care as well, and will definitely be taking my pup back there as I liked their play times (4 1-hr sessions a day!) and small play groups. Plus, it's super close to my house, so that makes it a winner in my books! The staff was really friendly and really actually seem like they dogs which is a great thing, and doesn't seem to apply to a lot of places. I was not overly happy with the training I received. It was an 8-week basic obedience course and because the instructor was so rude during my time there, I never went back after 4 of the 8 classes. I sent an email to ACC letting them know I was not going to be coming back and only received an email back saying, "Sorry it didn't work out". They didn't even want to know why. I take my dog here for grooming, daycare and training and I am always happy with the results. My dog loves daycare and is always excited to go in the mornings. He's a very hyper puppy and it is really helpful for getting his energy out. The training is incredible. I am in the basic obedience class and the improvements that my dog has made in such a short time are amazing. The instructions are so thoughtful and based in how dogs learn and understand, that it makes it natural and easy for them to learn the behaviors. It asks more of you than a quick training would but the results are well worth the hard work! I plan on taking my dog to the next level of training here and I am so excited to see all of his progress! read more

I have been taking my dog to daycare at ACC for the past 6 years. Everyone that works here is amazing! I recently got a new dog who accompanies my older dog to daycare. My new pup is a little afraid of men & growls, but this was never a problem for the knowledgeable & experienced staff at ACC. I really consider these folks family. They called me immediately when my dog got sick while playing one day. Also, being able to have grooming done btw play groups is a plus! Play groups are divided by size & temperament. Austin Canine Central is by far my favorite place to take my pup. I've gone to 2 different Doggy Daycares prior to bringing my baby Roxy to ACC, and I have to say, this place is affordable, flexible, and they do their best to wear Roxy out. Roxy has never hesitated about coming in, and always whines to get out of the car--booty a'waggin' when we pull up outside. The inside, as has been mentioned, is very large and clean--they even recently replaced the flooring with new mats, which I found very impressive. There is an outdoor area as well. When I would come at random times in the afternoon, Roxy would be in her crate resting or would be playing with one of the employees. They cater to dog's individual needs and do their best not to overwhelm your doggy. Roxy is a corgi, so she can be intimidated by bigger dogs. They let Roxy hang with her favorite pups. The only thing I wish they did do that some other places do, is keep track of what she does during the day, and giving me a report card of what's going on. I assume that she's a delight at daycare, and I hope that I would know immediately that something happened, but it would be nice just to get that guaranteed peace of mind. read more

I coordinate the pet program at MOWAM and have to say that this donation has been a true blessing for both our clients and their pets. I bring my dog here for daycare when the maid service is coming to our house about once a month. My dog is always excited to go and never shows any anxiety. The first couple of times I brought him, they encouraged me to call and see how he was doing, which was great. I love that they have size-based play groups and my dog always comes home tired from lots of good activity. Somewhat old facility; nice that the dogs are divided by group, but somewhat archaic crating system. Unfortunately, no webcam. No webcam, no deal. What doggie daycare in the 21st century doesn't offer webcam? It's simple and costs next-to-nothing to install, and owners can feel comfortable watching their dogs play while at work/home/etc. Any daycare that refuses to do this simply does not want any oversight, which gives one a bad feeling... Not good. Your dog can't tell you if something bad happens; you are completely in the dark. Get a webcam and get serious. read more

Austin Canine Central's Doggy Daycare is amazing! My dog loves it there and goes crazy as soon as we pull into the parking lot. The staff is wonderful and is always excited to see my dog. She's been going there twice a week for 4 years and even when I moved to a neighborhood with a closer daycare, I chose to keep her at ACC. They alternate between playtime and rest time in kennels and my dog comes home exhausted. One of the best things is that when it rains, she is never muddy. I took my cocker spaniel to be groomed here. They did a fantastic job. I would recommend this business to anybody. In spite of its secretive location, just north of Hyde park, the place has a nice boutique feel inside. I spoke with the owner, Richard, and he was careful to take down all of my specifications for what I wanted done. The pricing was very reasonable and similar to groomingdales or dirty dog, where I had taken Lily before. All of the people working there seem to be down to earth and kind people, that know how to handle dogs (presumably because they also do training and boarding). I intend to return for Lily's grooming and possibly boarding if necessary. Nothing but high praise. read more

Kudos to places that don't discriminate against pit bulls! They were very gentle with my poor scared Etta when I took her to get her nails filed. My only complaint is that I wish they would have taken her to a room with no other dogs in it. (There were two in kennels during the process). Etta doesn't always do well with other dogs so I wouldn't want her to get any more excited than she already was. read more
