I go to the register and didn't ring up price advertised. Cashier didn't take my word for it and went to look. Instead of honoring the price, she told me the special was expired. Coming from a retail background I know signs can get missed getting taken down but my company would still honor a price and then take the sign down. Gave my fabulous dog his first case of fleas. I paid for nails, teeth, ears, anal glands then came back a few hours later. Once in the car I noticed a small black bug crawling on his white fur (his coloring helps). Upon further inspection I found a few clusters of eggs-- I know this is disgusting. I called the store and asked if any dogs with fleas were in that day and where my dog was hanging out- they said there were a few dogs with fleas and that they clean, that's it. Totally disgusting. Now I have to detox my car, his blankets and myself. I will never visit a pet smart again. You have been warned!!! read more

I just absolutely love this store because of it's intimate size; it's fantastic staff, and it is close to where I live. The staff is always helpful, i.e., when we made tags for our dogs, and when an employee helped me with the purchase of new collars. This is just a little bit of humor that happened yesterday, Aug. 1, 2015, when I and my son visited Petsmart to buy collars and chew toys, and engrave the dog tags for our three chihuahuas and two terriors. I was sitting with the 3 Chihuahuas who were in a basket, they had their leashes on when an overweight woman with her overweight large dog kept walking by my cart. Well my 3 dogs barked at her and her dog. Then my son came up with his two terriors in his basket, they were also leashed. This woman kept walking by our carts so my dogs and my sons dogs would bark at them. Then I noticed the overweight woman with her overweight dog were up at the check out counter pointing back at me talking to the clerk and anyone who would listen to her! She left and when I checked out I asked the clerk what the overweight woman said. He said my and my sons small dogs were scaring her overweight dog! The moral of this story is that she will always be overweight and her dog will always be overweight and her antics in the store was just her way of getting attention for herself and her dog. read more

I've taken my dog here since he was just a puppy to petsmart. I've never had a bad experience. I went in to get my dog a haircut. The groomer there told me because he was old (13 years old) he needed to be pick it up in 2 hours, I didn't like her attitude the way she was explaining me but I agreed since never had an issue before because of that. so I left, I live 30 min away from that location and after 2 hours and 1 min she called me again, I was on the traffic trying to get there. She was screaming telling me I needed to be there in time.She was rude and had no sense of urgency. Finally I got there and when she saw me she was saying again it was my responsibility to pick up my dog on time and I didn't and blah blah. I told her I wont talk to her anymore so I called the manager and I made a complain the way she was talking and explaining things to me very rude. After a month I called petsmart again since Ive always take my dog there for grooming, but this time I was very clear I wanted another location. The person in the phone told me I could not come back to petsmart anymore since my dog had a seizure when he was there last time. This is a LIE!, its obvious the last groomer didn't like my complaint with the manager and she wrote this into the system. I feel Very disappointed since this is a lie. Why you have people so unprofessional in your stores. This is super unfair since Ive took my dog there since he was 4 months. So many years to be their client. Ive been here a few times and have always received good service but today i was wow'd! Mark was extremely helpful and knowledgable about their fish. He seriously needs a raise. I was very impressed. This location gets their fish shipment on Wednesday mornings. They offer many pet services and have a variety of animals. The store is always clean and well-stocked every time I visit. read more

This is the 6th time I have used this location. Usually a pleasant experience. Last 2 times were terrible customer service. About 4 months ago we waited until the check out rep got off her cell phone. She was rude and had no sense of urgency. This time I we were charged extra charge of $11 for express service. Specifically a grooming review. I actually had no problems with this location the first two times I brought my dog in for a shave and a bath. It's expensive for just a straight shave, but I didn't mind. I've been taking my dog every few months to get shaved and bathed since I got her 7 years go, and haven't ever had any issues. Today I made an appointment, exactly like the others. They called me 2 hours later to say that while they were able to bathe her, she was too aggressive to shave. Now, setting aside for the moment that in 7 years, a groomer has never failed to shave this dog, they charged me 40 dollars for the bath. I get the bath because I might as well, but obviously the purpose of taking the dog to the groomers is the haircut. So I paid 40 dollars for just the bath, and lost 3 hours of my day. I actually don't mind the location, it's a pet place, it doesn't have to be 5 star cleanliness. But this groomer should not have been hired. I don't know the qualifications needed to groom dogs, but she did not have them. I just can't trust that this location will be able to do the job I paid for, and with plenty of competitors, I say try your luck elsewhere. read more

So there are two things that are resulting in this low review: 1. I did the online survey using the code I was given on my receipt along with my contact info. That was a month ago. Haven't heard a peep from anyone at Petsmart. 2. I've taken my dog here on previous occasions and they usually do a decent job, although I've sometimes had to give very specific instructions (that I shouldn't have to) like to brush thoroughly. Otherwise he comes home full of loose hair. This last time I had a reservation for a bath, brush and ear cleaning. I arrive on-time and they say it'll be a couple of hours. Usually it's an hour or two tops, but this last time it's over four hours before I hear back that he's ready. (I really don't like leaving him there that long because they keep him crated when they aren't working on him and he hates that). So when I pick him up there is just one girl there. So I casually ask why this visit took longer than normal (thinking she had to work extra hard to clean him or something) and she tells me that she was by herself and so when she finished his bath she put him in the kennel and turned on the kennel dryer and "WENT TO LUNCH". So obviously I'm not happy to hear this because very recently a dog died while in a kennel dryer at Petco. I can't think of any pet owner who would want to hear that their loved one was left in a kennel dryer while the only person in the shop left to go to lunch. Besides all of this she did a crappy job brushing him as there were tuffs of loose fur on his hind legs and his ears weren't even touched. So I don't expect to hear from Petsmart about this, so I'll just take my business elsewhere. read more

I've always been one of those people that reads reviews but never leaves them. After moving to Austin a few years ago I tried out a few local groomers and was always left unsatisfied and felt they were overpriced. Gave up hope and took my dog to this petsmart. I was sooo happy with the finished product AND customer service. I have since moved a little further away and tried a different location. Never again. Sara Rose is amazing! I can go months in between bringing my dog in and she always remembers him (and me!) And does a fantastic job everytime. Everyone at this store is always super friendly. read more

The guy who helped me at the register was nice, he even knew where the products that I was looking for were. And they were well stocked and everything. However it took about 10 minutes for the poor lone cashier to get help from someone in the back. He was really apologetic but the woman who finally came out was dismissive and rude. There was not one other employee walking around the giant store. Understandable because there was no one in it and it feels creepy and unwelcoming. Go if you need something and plan to get out quickly but don't go for actual pet help and friendly service. read more

We really love this PetSmart's grooming service and staff. They are really great with our dog, Daisy who is frightened of baths and lots of other things. We go frequently to get grooming for her there and the staff is accomodating and love animals. THey are also really great with scheduling and really try to work with you. read more

Very clean and amazingly friendly store! The associates in the store and pet department are always very kind and help in any way they can. If they don't have an answer for my question they will go ask other associates to get an answer instead of just making up something or saying "i don't know". Plus their groomers in the grooming salon are all even better! I love bringing my babies to Paula and Cynthia? We always call her Cindy Lou Who but i think she has a different name. But Paula and Cindy do a great job with our little fur babies! They always look and smell great plus those two always have happy faces and a positive attitude/energy. They always have fun music playing and they cheer on our dogs when they walk them out when we pick them up saying things like "look at this pretty girl!" Couldn't imagine anyone else to trust our dogs to!! If you're looking for a great haircut or even just a bath please ask for them! read more

Typically, I don't have much issue with the staff at this PetSmart location, but I did concerning their Bissell carpet cleaning service. Previously I had used this service without a problem. However, upon returning my Bissell machine recently, the staff member looked annoyed from the moment we rolled the machine in. First she slammed the machine on its side to look at the bottom of the unit, then she slammed me with a cleaning charge. I always return my machines immaculate, certainly cleaner than they were ever rented out to me. I didn't argue my point very hard, which was my fault, because it was close to closing time. I was furious to learn that the cleaning fee for my already clean machine was $20 worth of the $30 deposit. I wasn't even told that they had a cleaning policy by any staff member to begin with, but never had issue before and always cleaned it myself as I had considered it a courtesy. I would suggest the staff makes their cleaning policy more upfront, fairly reviewed, and if all else fails, affordable. Last time I use a PetSmart. Too many better pet stores in the area to deal with this. read more

The people that work there are always ready to help me find what I need and they always seem to love my doggies. Very sweet! Also, I get my two poodles groomed there at the grooming salon. Brought back a bissel floor cleaner we rented. We followed the instructions given to us by the store employee at the petsmart on Ohlen road her name was Cassy she was very vague and incompetent in her instruction and handling of the rental. We cleaned the machine as described. When we brought it back for our deposit back, Kimberley the supposed store manager said we did not clean it to her standard. I explained we did not receive any further instruction but to clean the tanks out and wipe the wheels. She proceeded to try to over power the conversation and tell me I was in the wrong. I tried to explain to her that her incompetent employee did not give explain to us what all should have been properly cleaned or we would have brought it back as needed. She continued to try to talk over me the whole time I was explaining this. To me Kimberley does not seem very customer friendly for a store manager. We ended up leaving the machine as it was and without out deposit. I do not think Kimberley is management material as she has very poor customer service skill and is not friendly at all. I will be posting this to yelp as I have been an avide pet smart customer for the past 8 years as I have 3 dogs that need their things. Sadly today I am switching to petco. Petsmarts are good for getting cheap chew toys and pet supplies. However they don't carry very much varieties of natural dog food, which is what i'm more into. They do always seem to have more employees than Petco, but chances are that you know more than these 16yr olds do if you have any kind of basic animal care knowledge. Overall it's just like wal-mart's pets supply section, just 4x bigger. read more

I usually take my nervous dog, zion, to get his nails ground here and they always do a good job. Today we took both Zion as well as his extremely nervous sister, Baby Girl, to get their nails ground and Cynthia and Lupita did an absolutely incredible job. Baby Girl was rescued off the street in December, and she is still afraid of some people and really hates having her nails cut, we have never been successful with her in that arena, and her nails were extremely long. They did an amazing job, and we are very grateful to them for that! read more

First of all, I would like to say that if this was just about the grooming department, this store would get 5 stars!!!!!!!! I will start there. My dog gets the "top dog" treatment everytime we schedule and they consistently do such a great job. They are so friendly and their staff is top notch. They clean my dog better than I could ever do and he's always excited to go. He climbing up against the passenger side window every time we arrive in the parking lot. Their cashiers always let me know when they have specials coming up and they have a great assortment of toys. The only reason why I don't give them 5 stars is because my dog has a sensitive stomach and I have to buy his food at Petco because they carry Dick Van Patten's brand of dog food. Other than that, this Petsmart is top notch!!!!!! read more

This reference is specifically regarding their grooming service. I have taken my Chihuahua to them for about a year now to trim his nails. They've usually done an ok job in the past, but yesterday I had them file down his nails (which I hadn't asked for in the past) and when I went to get him after paying I noticed that one of his pads on his paws were bright pink. Apparently when they were filing his dewclaw on his right front paw, they scraped all of the skin and hair off of the pad adjacent. They somehow didn't notice this and seemed surprised when I showed them. Mistakes happen and I certainly know that my dog can be squirmy when it comes to getting his nails trimmed, but what really concerned me was when I asked for some antiseptic to clean the wound, the staff person I was working with left the grooming office and went into the manager's office to get one of those alcohol pads you might find in a first aid kit. Shouldn't a grooming center have some antiseptic on hand? I found that pretty disturbing. Needless to say, my dog and I will not be returning to that location for their grooming services. read more

We went there to peruse the 4th of July sale for dog treats and to grab crickets for my baby bearded dragon. I was talking to the male pet associate about the size of the bagged "small" crickets and explained that I was worried that the sizes were actually too large for my dragon. He said that he feeds the displayed baby bearded dragons large size crickets...huge no-no for small dragons. I didn't like this but decided to just grab my crickets and keep going. I showed them a photo of my guy and they all were saying that he didn't look like a bearded dragon (???????). I bought him at a Petsmart in Austin so I was getting more irritated. The final issue was the same guy who feeds the display bearded dragons crickets that are more than twice as large as the space between their eyes advised me to get a heater for the bottom of the tank. I explained that my research online suggested that this is not a good idea at all, which they seemed to ignore and scoff at because "online". Pretty unhappy at this point and probably won't use this location anymore. read more

I went in the store this evening as I was totally out of science diet dry food and wet. They were remodeling so I believe that is why they were out of 50 percent of what they usually carry which is no excuse. It is a Thursday night so they inventory should be plentiful. Spent 10 bucks on dry food that the dogs hate cause they didn't have the flavor I usually get....not even in the larger bags. The bag doesn't have our Velcro zipper like most either. I like this location not only because it's convenient but because they carry a pretty decent selection for my pets needs. I have had a couple of difficult and awkward experiences but I almost always will leave satisfied. One awkward moment I had was when I came in knowing what I needed so I didn't wander around the whole store buying unnecessary items for my pets. One of the sale's associates asked me if she could give my dog a treat and I said, "yes, that's fine" and the woman proceeded to dig in her treat pouch to give my dog a treat. She then asked me if I was finding everything okay and I said yes and that I just came in to get my dog food because she was out. Then the woman was telling me that some of the aisles changed and the asked me what food I was looking for. I told her the brand and said that it had originally been down the aisle I was going down but had moved to the next aisle to the right. I saw her food down the aisle i wanted to go down in the first place but the woman insisted her food was down the aisle she was pointing to. I followed her anyway just to prove a point and I was correct, the aisle she took me to was the prescription diets... I told her that wasn't her brand of food and repeated the brand that I said in the beginning. She then tells me, "oh! that food is down this aisle".....( it was the aisle I tried going to before this woman showed up....). So now I notice the large bag of food I initially planned on purchasing is not on the shelf. The woman is still standing next to me and tells me, " oh, it looks like we are out of that size"....well no joke, Sherlock! Then she decides to ask me if she wanted me to have her look in the back to see if it was available, I really wanted to scream my head off because this woman is incompetent and not helping me at all! She comes back and brings the size I was looking for and told me that was the last size they had, I took the bag and began to power walk to the register so I could leave. The guy was really awkard too. After that visit all of my other trips have been nice and the staff is very helpful and nice. read more

I've taken my dog here since he was just a puppy. I've never had a bad experience. I went in to get a nail cut and grinding. I left the grooming area for a bit to do some shopping, plus I feel like it lets the groomers do their thing. As I approached the grooming area I noticed 2 ladies over my dog. When I walked in my dog was frantically flopping around. Before I could even ask, they let me know that he wasn't having it when it came to grinding his nails. As I started talking my dog looked back at me. His eyes were completely blood shot. Like super freaking red. I asked if they had cut his nails and if that was the case just to forget the grinding part. I was aware that my dog was under a tremendous amount of stress. It took them a second to get the collar off his neck because it was wound up so tight. I've never been so displease with how he was treated. I don't understand; if a dog is reacting that much, why would the groomers proceed in an action that is obviously stressing him out? They then told me about these pills (that were $50) for aggressive dogs. Stress and aggression are two very different things. I'll never take my dog back here. He was freaked out and instead of backing off they just kept going. I feel like when you've done something for a while, you forget that that thing (being a person or an animal) is very much real. The focus should have been on the reactions of the animal, not what needed to be done. Very disappointed. read more

This location has become less inviting, kind of cramped and dingy looking but this doesn't bother me much as much as the customer service and pricing policies. I had a ridiculous experience trying to buy pet food recently. I checked online to see if they had the brand I wanted in stock and it showed that it was there along with the price. I went to the store to make the purchase and saw that the price for the same item was 25% higher in the store. When I went to check out I asked if I could have the online price. The cashier told me they couldn't do that and I should just order online and pick it up. This would require waiting for the order to be processed but I agreed to try ordering from my phone. Once I had the website pulled up, the food I wanted was showing as unavailable. I was about to leave but my cat needed his food so I asked for a manager. They were suddenly able to sell me the food at the online price, after I wasted a 1/2 hour of my time standing around the store. If I shop there again, I'll order online to pick up and then check in the store to make sure that their prices aren't lower this time. read more

Stay away from the groomers at Petsmart! I don't think any of them have training as I have taken my dog here two times and both times have been horrible. They did a puppy cut the first time and cut my dogs face way too short like a poodle. The butt also looked like clippers were taken to it without a guard with two random strips on her fur. The second time was horrible! First all, they said that they could not trim her with sissors, but had to use razors with guards. They said the would leave her hair at least an inch long, but when I came to pick her up they said that she had too many knots and they had to trim her very short. They not only shaved the knots off, but the hair is bald in several areas (while longer in other areas). They also charged an extra $6/each to comb out these so called knots when all they did was shave them off. I am so embarassed to even walk my dog as she looks like she got a home made job. What a waste of $62!! read more
