I have used Petrocelli a few times in the past and to be fair, they have gotten my ac up and running. I'm writing a review to let future customers to know what to expect for a capacitor replacement. capacitors are a typical replacement and was let down on what I learned today what Petrocelli charges. Replacements aren't a complicated fix (feel free to google) and I fully understand charging for overhead/time/labor but charging $500 for a capacitor on top of the service fee is excessive( especially when it was replaced under 30min) . For future customers, just know to replace a capacitor with labor is $636 (capacitor was $517). I cant imagine the part being anywhere close to $100 but to charge 5x part cost with a service fee? This review is for potential customers, if you're diagnosed with a capacitor replacement, know this company will charge in the ballpark of $700 to do it. read more

UPDATE: Owner called back - all staff out of town and that is why they didn't know phones weren't working. He had a tech call me and the tech said he would come out by the end of today to check things out. On Friday, 12/23 I left a message that our heat was out. We have a maintenance agreement with Petrocelli so that we can ensure service if problems arise. Fortunately we purchased the last space heater at a local hardware store as temperatures were very cold. I waited to leave a message again until after Christmas trying to be respectful of their techs working on a holiday. After three more messages were not returned, I went to their website and sent an email asking if they were still in business. Response via email was they could not locate messages. This morning they emailed back saying their phones were down. I emailed what I needed - still have not heard back. Texted the owners phone (Joe Petrocelli) (had the number from a major issue with our commercial property this past summer) with no response, Now on day 6 with no call back. Extremely disappointed. Even though they have gotten paid for what should be another Furnace preventive check - I am moving on.....neighbors recommend another company, I will make sure to send a message to all my neighbors in our 55+ community of our experience so they can make an informed decision about using this company in the future. Joe needs to hire someone to answer the phones - always have had to leave a message with mixed return call results. read more

We had a leak coming from the attic. -I wish I figured it out on my own. Their line was busy, and I left a message and got a quick call back. My system has humidity control, and it was set very low. (I didn't realize it had that control) Daniel explained the issue thoroughly and explained the problem in a way I understood. He was great to learn from. Okay, I usually try real hard to keep things positve, but with summer coming, I need to be sure people are aware because I don't want anyone else to go through the experience I had over the last five years with this vendor. I would strongly advise against ever using Petrocelli Services for anything. Here's my experience with them: In 2015, I had them come out and install two brand new units: one for upstairs and one for the downstairs. I told them at the time I wasn't as worried about cost as I was quality and value. My current system at the time had lasted 25 years, worked well, and it was just starting to have a few issues, so I thought is was better to replace it before it went out completely. I wanted to replace the systems with one of equal or better quality. They assured me this would not be an issue. They did tell me that they would have to create new openings in each side of the out part of my house to install the internal air handler units since the access points were too small. Originally they told me they would add on to the existing vent, but when the contractor came out to do that he said it was not a structurally sound thing to do so without notice he cut a hole in the side of my stucco. I guess I should have realized before this we already had issues if they couldn't replace it with out going through the inside, but they sounded like I could trust them and Joe himself had come out to assure me they could do the job. When I saw they cut an approximately 3x4 foot hole in the side of my stucco and planned to put another vent there, we had a discussion, and Joe did agree to put in a stained glass window there because a vent would just look stupid. Fast forward one year and I had to call them because we were having issues because it was 80 degrees in the downstairs. The "technician" came out, assessed the situation, and decided they needed to add a vent in my room, and cut a hole in my bedroom door to add a vent there too to help it cool better. Note: my previous system worked 25 years without all of these issues. Petrocelli's response to this remark was, "They don't make them like they used to." Really! After just one year the system is expected to fail! Fast forward another year, summer rolls around and it's having issues again. The "technician" comes out and says I need Freon. He doesn't have any with him so he'll have to come back. What AC company does not carry refrigerant on their vehicles during the summer? So when he returns, I ask him two things: why does it need it unless it's leaking? and why and where is it leaking? because it's against EPA requirements for them to ignore a leak. (You know ozone, polluting the air, and all that.) He said, "Oh it's probably not a leak, it just needs to be recharged." After less than 2 years! Then he proceeds to improperly test and charge it with a ridiculous amount 3-4 lbs of refrigerant, which indicated it must have been leaking the entire time and provide me with a bill of like $400 or something. I told him I would have my husband discuss it with the office and Joe. After lots of phone calls to the office, we finally got them to agree to come out and look for the leak that they did find. They wanted us to pay for the repair, which was actually faulty installation, hence the loss of refrigerant, and they never could get the billing correct. Finally, because they kept billing me and Gary someone that I don't know, I told them to go collect from Gary. Fast forward to last week - only 5 years after the initial install and I had to replace the entire upstairs unit because when they installed it, they did not replace the outside breaker with a trip breaker, which caused an electrical fire in the outdoor unit and it caught fire and burnt up. So as a previous customer stated, I wouldn't let them put ice in my glass, much less install any type of AC/heating unit in my house. They are a disgrace to the profession. They should be put out of business by the EPA. And if it's at all possible, I will be looking into legal action since I had to pay for a brand new unit. DON'T USE THEM FOR ANYTHING - NOT EVEN A SERVICE CALL! read more

I've been using Petrocelli for over 23 years. They have always accommodated me when needed at the last minute. And the technicians are friendly and fixes my problems. They only reason I am giving 4 stars is the price. I called on a Friday and they accommodated me before the weekend, thank you, the it is too pricey. There was a service fee of $95 plus $266 for the actual service for a total of $361.52 for 1 hour of work. I called to see if they would give me a break w/ the$95 since I was doing the service, and they said no. The result of this is that moving forward I will now call around versus what I used to do -- having them as my preferred A/C service provider that I always call as 1st choice. I would give this company 0 stars if possible! My ac was under warranty with this company for 2 years and of course my ac went out a couple months after warranty expired! When I talk to Airtron they told me about a plan of 24.00 a month witch would cover parts labor and any service fees. ( sounds to good to be true) well things didn't go as planned! After 2 hrs of tech at the house he told me my expansion valve was broken repairs would be 1500. I ask the tec I need to speak to a rep because I was told something different! Petrocelli Services did a great job for us. We called Petrocelli for a second opinion after being told our AC was basically unfixable due to lack of parts. We were looking at a huge expense for a new system but Petrocelli told us it could be fixed - and did so the very next day. We are grateful for their honesty and attention to detail. They charged ridiculous price on parts and told me that's their "warranty" price. I have used their service twice, and they did not specified what type of parts they will use and forced me to accept the estimate prior to the repair. They installed a small crappy pump retail for $150 and charged me more than THREE TIMES of the cost ($450 without labor) and I'm sure that they get the pump for way less than the retail. As a customer, I felt completely ripped off. Don't get ripped off like I did and go somewhere else where they actually charge you with a reasonable price. read more

He arrived for the appointment exactly on time and entered wearing a face mask and shoe protectors. He quickly identified and then solved the problem I had. We have a yearly maintenance contract with Petrocelli and they've been keeping our old old system going strong :) This summer our AC suddenly started blowing uncooled air but then would switch to cooled. It only took the technician 5 minutes to figure out the problem and get it fixed quickly and cheaply! read more

It's never fun to spend money on things you can't even see, but are necessary for your home. We are in the process of buying a new home and needed the AC inspected ASAP. Petrocelli Services was recommended to us by a friend so we gave them a call. They were super friendly and were able to set up an appointment for us with Terry for the next day! He was very professional and knowledgeable and was able to explain everything that he was doing. Our realtor, who was present for the appointment, was also very impressed and made it a point to tell us that after he left. It's such a great feeling to get reliable, friendly service. Go figure, the AC at my rental house went out at 4 PM on the Friday before Labor Day. My tenant called Petrocelli Services and they were out by Sunday on a holiday weekend, which was very helpful. The technician was personable and helped explain everything, which was appreciated. The only reason I am giving them less than 5 stars is the price. Their hourly rate is $212/hour on weekdays, $227/hour on weekends. I understand weekend rates are higher, but wow. You'll get great service, but it won't be inexpensive. read more

My wife and I have worked with Pretrocelli Services for over 5 years now to service AC systems in two of our homes. We initially began using Petrocelli to provide regular service and maintenance on our AC systems through their Cool Club program. The team that comes out twice a year is always personable, honest and takes time to explain any issues. Both homes had AC systems were aging so we had 1 entire replaced last year and this year had our primary home AC system moved into our attic and a new system installed. Through both installs we had polite, honest, friendly techs with high quality work done on both. They even followed up a few days later to make sure we were fully satisfied and the owner himself went into the attic to inspect the work. I called Petrocelli after another company came out and told me my whole system needed to be replaced. The tech came out to give me a quote, and found it was only the outside unit that needed to be replaced! This was great news because the difference in cost was a huge! Not only that they gave me the quote for free since I used them for the change out and they prepared a quite for both the entire system and just the part I needed. The tech and the office informed me of all my options, costs, and they also installed it the same day. I couldn't have been happier or more educated about the situation. Thanks guys! You rock! My A/C was not cooling. The technician arrived, looked at the condensor and saw that a run capacitor was bloated and probably was the cause of the problem. He didn't tell me anything about cost-just replaced the part and gave me a bill for $200 fifteen minutes later. If he had checked a few other things while he was there, he would have seen that the contactor also needed to be replaced, which is a part that sits right next to the run capacitor. I called someone else and will continue to use them in the future because they know that sometimes there are other issues to check for, not just the first and most obvious. read more
