Most delicious Baklava ever.
Nick D.

The food is so delicious it's heavenly. Went out to lunch with my Wife and everything was made with absolute perfection. I had their Philly cheesesteak sandwich, garlic fries, and their famous baklava. My Wife ordered their chicken shish kabob pita sandwich. The service is always great since it's a family owned restaurant. I can eat their baklava all day, absolutely outstanding.

Omg, what a hidden gem! This place has amazing, delicious, fresh, authentic Mediterranean food! Such a small little kitchen and they were packed and still got our food within 10 minutes! We had the chicken schwarma, falafel, Greek salad, tabulleh, and garlic fries. Sooooo good and made to order! Don't question it, just go!

It's been a hot minute since I have been here. Just don't ever think of going. I wanted something somewhat healthy, so we decided on here. We all got the beef shawarma wraps, they didn't have pork available that day. Then, to have the healthy eating idea fly out the window, we ordered the garlic fries. We happened to come at a busy time so it took about 15 minutes to get our order. I sat and enjoyed their mint tea. The wraps were very good, the fries disappointing. They used to overload the garlic on them to where you would have it coming out your pores for days. This time not very much on them. I'm not sure If I would order them again or I'd just ask for extra garlic. 8/19/25

We parked on the street and the aromal of delicious smelling cooking meat greeted our noses and pulled us around the corner like Toucan (Froot Loops commercials). Open kitchen where you can see & smell the food cooking. Nice &;friendly Staff and easy to read menu. Small dining area in front with a bigger one to the side, with outdoor seating. We stopped in for lunch and spent about $50 for two (no drinks), drank water. We both ordered Pitas (Beef & Chicken), large garlic fries, and an order of Falafel (4 pieces). We both liked our Pitas, nice flavor, prepared fresh. The garlic fries were good, and the Falafel was not bad, a little crispy for me, but wife liked it.

Ordering from the counter you have a clear view of everything in the kitchen and see first hand the attention that goes into creating delicious Mediterranean dishes. I was traveling so I ordered for the road and kept it simple with the Beef Gyro Shawarma Wrap - Large delicious marinated tri-tip seasoned to perfection and packed for a takeout. Yum! Drinks include soda by the can and a number of beer options. Can't wait to try their famous Baklava next visit!

I absolutely love this place. Their food is fantastic. The beef and the meat has so much flavor and char grilled flavor. The ingredients are fresh. I absolutely give it a very high rating , they have so much to offer on their menu but if you love tri-tip, you'll absolutely love this dish on the plate combo or the wraps. The service and seating area is perfect for a nice evening out or a lunch.

Tuesday, March 10th, we traveled to Bakersfield to pick up a vehicle I had purchased, and of course had to stop by Kohnen's. My wife and I split a Tuna and Cheddar Panini, and a loaded Turkey (we arrived too late for Sourdough!!). It is difficult to walk away without a mini-pie (try them all, but blackberry is freaking amazing!!). As always, Danelle was there with her typical congeniality and work ethic! We love her!! And I got to tell her about her doppelgänger in a restaurant in Yucaipa!! They do exist!! In summary, eat at Kohnen's!! Say hi to Danelle!

I visited Kohnen's Bakery Tehachapi yesterday with my family, and this was honestly one of the…read moreworst customer service experiences I've ever had. I only purchased two items -- one cream puff and one slice of cheesecake -- but the cashier charged my card THREE times due to repeated mistakes. Here's exactly what happened: 1) My first card (Card A) was charged $11.20. The cashier asked me if I wanted a receipt, and I said yes. Then she told me the receipt didn't come out because the transaction "didn't go through," and asked me to provide my card again. 2) I gave the same card again, and this time she charged $11.69. 3) Then again, she told me that it didn't go through, so I used a different debit card (Card B), which was charged $11.20. While sitting at the table with my family, I immediately checked my bank account and thought I had only been charged twice. I spoke to a staff member at the store and requested a refund for one of the $11.20 charges, which was processed. However, today I realized I had actually been charged three times, meaning there was still another $11.20 that needed to be refunded. So I called the bakery and asked to speak with a manager. I spoke with someone named Danielle. I calmly explained the entire situation and told her I would send all my receipts and bank transaction records by email so they could double-check and confirm everything. She said ok and gave me their email address, but it was very long, and I was concerned about making a mistake while writing it down. So I politely asked if she could text me the email address instead. Her response was extremely rude -- she said, "I'm not required to do that," and told me to just write it down myself if I had a pen and paper. Although I was already uncomfortable with her attitude, I carefully wrote it down and sent the email. However, the email bounced back as invalid, even though I had confirmed the spelling with her multiple times over the phone. When I called again, Danielle answered and said, "Ma'am," in a very dismissive tone, and told me that they had found the three charges and had already processed refunds for both $11.20 transactions. I tried to confirm which card the refund was going to, since I used two different cards, but after putting me on hold for a long time, she read off a card number that was not mine. When I told her that wasn't my card, she insisted those were the only transactions for $11.20 yesterday and told me to "check my bank in a few days" and call back if the refund doesn't show up. And, she didn't apologize for the mistake, even though they charged my cards three times and wasted a significant amount of my time. Even yesterday, when I asked for an apology, I only received one reluctantly after I pointed out that they had made a mistake -- and even then, the response was dismissive, as if I should just accept it because they were "taking care of it." The attitude throughout this entire situation was rude, unprofessional, and extremely frustrating. The cheesecake was very good. But because of this experience, I would never come back. We drove all the way from Los Angeles to Tehachapi with my family, expecting a pleasant visit, but this bakery completely ruined the day. Being charged a total of $34.09 for just two small items due to repeated errors is unacceptable. If your staff cannot properly process payments, they should not be working as cashiers. Situations like this should never happen. What's even worse is that after making multiple mistakes, there was not a single sincere apology -- only attitude, dismissiveness, and instructions for me to keep checking my bank and call back again. My time is valuable. This entire situation could have been avoided if things were handled properly from the beginning. This was an extremely unpleasant experience, and I am very disappointed. Cf) For reference, the other $16.05 receipt is for bread that my brother purchased.

After doing a quick Yelp search i found Red House BBQ. From the being to end the whole experience was great, we were greeted promptly and sat down just as fast. We opted to sit outside since it was a beautiful day with great weather. The patio and outside seating is huge, the inside is a bit smaller but still has plenty of seating and it's nice I love the decor. I went with the Tri Tip sandwich and added hot-links which was a great choice I also got a side of fries. The Tri Tip was well seasoned it had the crack peppercorn taste that I personally love. Served on a soft Brioche bun I believe. They give you 3 bbq sauces on the side to choose from Sweet and mild , mild and spicy all three were delicious. My wife and daughter went with the pulled pork sandwich which I tried an it was delicious, especially the little pieces of Bark. My wife had a side of Mac and cheese and my daughter a side salad. They said the Mac and cheese was delicious and so was the side salad it was fresh. They do have a small bar nothing big and offer beer, wine and some mixed drinks. Overall it was great experience and I say even better BBQ than most of the spots I've tried in Bakersfield. It's a shame it's about 45 mins away but I'll be definitely making the trip back soon to try something else on the menu.

Pulled pork, Mac n cheese, sliced Tri-tip. Very fresh and tasty, and large portions on the plate. The service was horrendous. It started with walking in and the waitress said "wait and have a seat". Wait and sit where? There was no easily identified waiting area. All the tables were full. Oh...across the room on the one empty seat at the bar. Glad I spotted it. We placed an order for onion rings as an appetizer while we reviewed the menu. Several minutes later we placed our entree order. Shortly after that our entrees came out, no appetizer. Five minutes after our entree arrived the appetizer showed up. I wanted my water refilled but we didn't see our waitress for 15mins, finally having to flag down another waitress to assist. Later I asked the manager to explain how the appetizer showed up long after our entrees, even though I placed the appetizer order first. She spoke so fast with a strong non-American accent that she was difficult to understand. I asked her to slow down because I didn't understand her, yet she continued to talk fast with her thick accent that I could only pick up bits and pieces. Something about fried food taking longer to cook than the already-prepared meat. I told her the service was disappointing. She said "okay" and told her waitress to fill my glass. And that was the end of the visit. I don't know who owns the place, but we did not receive a positive customer service experience, rather just getting lots of broken excuses. 2 stars for the food. Nothing for service and management.
