Walking in, the whole store has been revamped from the dark interior of Italian to the bright white and blue of the Greek flags! Speaking with Patricia and the family, this is the best and authentic Greek food I've tasted in Carmel. My salad was ridiculously large with sizable options for the ingredients! A whole block of seasoned feta w the richest piece of chicken added! The spanikopita is in casserole style (authentic) - if you're eating the triangles, that's incorrect. We were in town visiting relatives and plan to make dinner at this gem a holiday tradition from now on. We descended on Petos on a winter night shortly before they closed, yet the staff could not have been more gracious. Along with kind service and an ambiance boosted by classic Christmas carols, the food was excellent--the best Greek cuisine we've had outside of Greece itself (with generous portions to boot). Our family shared the maroulousalata, taramosalata, hummus, saganaki (Opa!), pastitsio, lamb gyros, and Santorini pasta, all of which we recommend--especially the pastitsio, which struck a perfect balance of seasonings. Very attentive wait staff. The Tirokafteri...very good! Creamy, salty, a little spicy...great with warm pita bread. My husband had Lamb Gyro. That came with rice, and flavorful Greek Vegetables. Lamb was tender, and well seasoned. I had Pork Souvlaki. Two skewers of tender pork, with rice and Greek Vegetables. We had plenty to eat, and boxed up our entrees, so we could have dessert. I have Bougatsa, a Phyllo dough with a custard filling, reminded me of a Greek inspired Sugar Cream Pie. My husband had the Baklava Cheesecake. Great experience...we will be back! read more

We had been hoping to try this place for lunch for a while now but they seemed to be a dinner only service. However recently we found out that they were open for short lunch service as well. A friend and I went for lunch and the decor inside is very nice - greek music playing, white walls and airy kinda decor. Our server was polite and quick on her feet. I ordered the lavash gyro wrap with fries and let me say that I was very happy to see lavash being offered. Pita feels too heavy at times. Food came out at a reasonable time and it was a pretty good wrap - good meat to veggies to sauce ratio. The fries were oh so good! Well salted and crispy. My only comment would be the gyro meat was bit under-salted. I am aware that salt is a personal preference, however if one was to argue that the meat was perfectly salted, then the fries were over salted. But to my taste, fries were well seasoned and perfect and meat could have used a bit more salt. My friend enjoyed his falafel meal as well. We hope to be back to try other menu items. Had lunch today with my friend-- everything was delicious. Started out with some yummy white wine-- chilled expertly-- along with some hummus-- so tasty-- velvety smooth. So glad we finally tried Petos, amazing! We've lived in Carmel for 15 yrs & have tried every supposed Greek restaurant throughout Indy & all have been only "fine" until now. We had given up trying a few years but kept hearing great things about Petos so finally decided to give it a try for lunch today, so happy we did. We have a new favorite restaurant. Started with Meltizanosalata & WOW! So fresh & the pita alone is worthy of its own 5 stars. The pita around town has always had a store-bought quality & was disappointing. This was so tender & chewy, not dry or greasy. Though we could have eaten the eggplant alone with a spoon, this pita was the perfect compliment. We both ordered the lamb gyros with fries - the serving size is generous! More of that delicious pita overflowing with fresh, tender lamb slices & complimented with lettuce, tomato & just enough flavorful tzatziki plus an extra ramekin of tzatziki on the side which was also wonderful with the fresh, crispy & perfectly seasoned fries. Great service. I had the Filet Mignon kabobs-it was large enough to share and deliciously tender. I also recommend the Petos platter for an appetizer. This is the best restaurant for authentic Greek food. Baklava for dessert is a must! read more

This place is incredible . We have always talked about stopping in and finally gave it a try tonight. For us it was a 5 star experience. The menu is very large so we decided to share a few items to get a good variety. We started with a large Greek salad and it was the best I've ever had, even from someone that grew up in Detroit with plenty of Greek coney islands nearby. I could have drank the dressing with a straw. We then ordered pita bread which is perfectly seasoned and made to order. We finish our dinner with calamari and Greek fries (do not skip these fries!!). Each dish somehow was even better than the last. And I want to especially call out the service. The owner check on us twice and our waiter was incredibly helpful and seemed so happy to work there. We will definitely add this to our rotation and bring guests when they visit. read more

We had a very disappointing experience for lunch today. Waited an hour for food, they ran out of Coke, food was not hot except Spanakopita was delicious. Meat was luke warm. Ordered gyros on Pita and they made it as a wrap and tried to get us to accept it. Did not. Gyro drowning in sauce. The most shocking thing is we ordered some pastries (12) from the bakery and when I went to pay, it was $67!!! I should have declined but I am still in shock. Restaurant has a friendly staff and nice venue. It is not a loud place so we had the ability to talk and eat the entire evening. We got the saganaki, moussaka, and souvlaki. All food was 5/5. Flaming Cheese (Saganaki) was great. My wife got the chicken Souvlaki which are kebabs essentially. I got the Moussaka which is a Greek lasagna with beef and eggplant. We loved everything and the price was on par with a standard evening out in Carmel ($20-30/person) We will return. read more

Delicious food. The Greek salad is authentic, the chicken (kotopoulo) is very good - well seasoned and extremely tasty. I am a first generation Greek, and going to this restaurant almost made me emotional. Reminded me so much of Greece, from the authentic music to the blue and white everywhere to the Mythos beer and real Saganaki flaming cheese. It might be in Carmel, but it could be in Athens too. You can tell all of the food is homemade and mindfully prepared. The tzatziki was delicious - obviously freshly made. The lemon potatoes that came with the kotopoulo are a Greek classic and rivaled my aunt's potatoes (hope she never reads this! Sorry Theia!) So delicious. I was just shocked at the flavors. It's rare you find a place that REALLY knows it's Greek food. A yiayia (grandmother) is cooking back there and she knows what she's doing. This place deserves a 5 star overall rating. Cute family owned place. On a slow Saturday lunch we were greeted promptly and warmly. The young waiter who took care of us had a great sense of humor and did a good job, checking on us as needed but not too obtrusively. Chicken gyro was very good as was the falafel and flaming cheese (literally presented tableside while on fire). Kid had the Shawarma and fries and enjoyed it. We decided to serve Greek food for a family birthday celebration as we have eaten both lunch and dinner at this location before. We chose Peto's as we love the food and thought our family would too, also the restaurant is close to where we live. The owner went above and beyond to work with us in selecting and preparing the foods. A few days later we got the order and laid the selections out on our kitchen/dining area counter tops: appetizers, main course platters and desert. It looked marvelous and our family helped themselves. They loved the new tastes, textures and choices of this delicious assortment of Greek foods. We really wanted to like the restaurant. The restaurant lost our "ticket" in the kitchen. After an hour of waiting with two small children (who were starving) we asked where our food was and was told it would be right out. Five minutes later the waiter came back and said they lost our ticket. They didn't even try to repair the mistake. We ended up leaving because it was almost my kids' bedtime and asked for the check. First time at this restaurant. The weight staff was friendly, quick to meet our requests. Our food arrived but not all at the same time and we waited for a number of minutes for our friends to get their food before we could all start eating together. For a Wednesday evening the restaurant was not crowded, but the noise level was very high and we had trouble hearing each other talk. There were 6 of us so sitting at a long table instead of a round table so that was part of the problem. Also, the menu item prices seemed higher than other Greek/Middle East restaurants in the area. Went to dinner with my family, including 2 toddlers. We had the saganaki (delicious!), chicken souvlaki with roasted vegetables, a pasta dish, and the greek burger. The greek burger definitely stood out and was so delicious! The rest of the food was fine but didn't stand out. I was disappointed in the roasted vegetables l, as they were primarily green beans, seemingly from a can with some seasonings. The service was fantastic and everyone was very friendly and helpful! The food here is absolutely incredible!! I have been to many different greek and Mediterranean restaurants all across the country and never have I ever tasted better Greek cuisine. At most Greek restaurants I am not a fan of tzatziki nor gyros but at Petos I fell absolutely in love with both! The saganaki, in my opinion is one of the best items on the menu. The servers ignite the cheese with fire and gets the whole place excited with every saganaki that has been ordered (But pretty much everything I've tried is incredible). The customer service is incredible, the servers work so hard to ensure an amazing experience as does the family that owns the restaurant. so excited to have authentic greek food in carmel! this family owned restaurant was delicious and the staff were beyond hospitable. we started with a salad, saganaki cheese which was fire and literally on fire. highly recommend. we also got a few different dips and they were flavorful and fresh with the hot pita- highly recommend getting the eggplant dip. for our entrees, we got the pork shank (sooooo delicious). not a pork person but this pork was so tender and flavorful. the chicken souvlaki was lemon forward and really fresh- I recommend getting the potatoes with them because they are lemony and delicious. I got the moussaka - it was awesome, layers and layers of flavors. we ended the night with a dessert consisting of phyllo dough and custard - SO GOOD!
