my dumplings i had to eat at the trust center

these people kick you out the restaurant if you don't tip, i went twice because the food was good and both times the dude was mad at me or my friends because we didn't tip. tipping is something i can't afford because i'm a broke college student, its just so rude i order for here he gives me a bag and tells me eating here only for people who tip like who does that??

    Beef and onion dumplings.

Super fresh steamed dumplings! Had the beef and onion steamed, the shrimp and coriander steamed, and the pork and chive pan fried. These were the staff recommendations and they did not disappoint!

I used to really like the Petit Poisson Rose when it was a regular Chinese restaurant. I was a little surprised to see it convert to a dumpling place since the former restaurant had enjoyed quite a bit of success. I went in to try their food yesterday and ordered a serving of pork/coriander xiao long bao to go. The food came after about 10 min, and was nicely packed in a aluminum tray with a little container of sauce (mix of soy sauce, vinegar, chili oil and green onions). The xiao long baos were good, but given that prices are a bit higher than that of Qing Hua, and menu choices are similar, if not a bit more limited, I think Petit Poisson Rose might not be my first choice for dumplings in Montreal. I have to say that the interior is quite nice! It is trendy, with art and neon signs on the walls. I also liked that the shop front is where the dumpling making happens - it gives a nice sneak peek into how the food is prepared.

I walked in about 15 minutes after losing and, not surprisingly was politely told I was too late. BUT....before I could leave, a wizened woman belayed the young waitress and I was seated. I just asked for whatever was easiest for the kitchen and was served a Huge, Generous portion of fried pork dumplings. They were absolutely delicious, and for USD 8.00 an excellent ent bargain!

Not sure if it's still on the menu but i ordered the fried mackerel dumplings and they were pretty divine. Very interesting flavor. The place was cozy and the food was fresh.

I love the ambiance on this one! As soon as we seated we are served with sweet cold tea. My friend and I got the combo ones. She got the chicken mushroom and I got the shrimp scallop ones. They were delicious. Since we got the combo we had tofu noodles and seaweed salad as appetizers. The tofu one is a must try though it was a bit salty I guess because of the soy sauce but I love it! We are served with sodas of our choice as well in addition to the combo. The dipping sauce is really good toooo! A mist try

Worst steamed buns I've ever had in my life. The food is tasteless at Petit Poisson rose. They added way too much MSG and made us feel thirsty afterwards. I'd recommend the place called 1930 Shanghai in West Island for steamed buns and dumplings. This place is just tasteless and pricy. 1 star.

New dumpling place in town! Sammi and soupe had a long line up so we opted for this spot. We saw women in the entry display making dumplings and were excited to try a new place because dumplings are life. One star off because there was a strange fishy/trash smell at the entrance, but it went away when we went down the stairs. We tried the steamed juicy pork and juicy lamb dumplings. When they meant juicy, they really meant it! Both had a ton of soup inside. We preferred the flavour of the pork, but both were satisfying for the affordable price (dumplings were about $9-12). Interesting pop art decor and tiling too. Would recommend :)

The restaurant has many sorts of dumplings and steam dumplings ( actually it's steam bao , not exactly dumplings ) I like their steam bao, and less like the dumplings . Because the dumpling wrap are too thick. The side dishes are generally good.

A M B I A N C E Lots of cool art and decorations on the wall! Tile and mirrors on the walls. There's lots of tables but they're super close to each other. A couple next to us like shook up their table as they were trying to sit and knocked over some stuff and it spilled all over the place and they low-key ran away. So like, we were pretty shooketh. C L E A N L I N E S S Besides the fact that the couple next to us spilled stuff all over, everything looked clean! Very white and fresh. O V E R A L L Q U A L I T Y The dumplings arrived really hot! We ordered lamb & coriander first, then beef & onion! The dough was very sticky, sticking to each other and the chop sticks. But the soup was good, the filling was a lot and a little bit chewy. I described it as bouncy in my mouth lol. C O S T $ $10-12 for 12 dumplings W A I T T I M E S We ordered 2 different styles of dumplings right away. The first set took about 15 minutes, but as we finished (2 people) the first, the second set of dumplings arrived! Great timing! P A R K I N G On a busy street, will need to pay for parking and probably have to walk. L O C A T I O N Sammi & Soupe Dumplings is just form the street, that place was full so we headed this way! It's on a busy street, there's good lighting and ladies making dumplings in the windows, and as you enter you go down into a basement type space.

It's a small restaurant; by the window we see the cooks making the dough for the dumplings. It's pretty cool. The inside is pretty ordinary but the cleaner than dumplings joints. They have a pretty simple menu dumplings, soup in dumplings, salads. drinks and deserts. When you order dumplings, you can have it either steamed or fried (extra charge). Dumplings were delicious but missing slightly some flavors. Without the sauces (soy, chili), it would have been very bland. I also ordered the edamame, sadly they were out of it. The prices were little steep though comparing with other places on the same street. Honestly, the food and the restaurant is strictly average.

The Long Version: I love hand pulled noodles, so my husband and I had lunch here. He's not a fan of noodle soups but agreed to come and just have appetizers, lol. I got the small-sized Spicy Mushrooms and Chicken Noodle Soup ($13.99). I chose the #6 size noodles which is the thickest noodles they offer. My husband got the imperial rolls ($4.50 for 3) and the fried shrimp wontons ($11.99 for 10). I really enjoyed my soup, especially the thick noodles. They were chewy and the right amount of softness. There were chicken pieces in it, mushrooms and a delicious "tofu sausage." It also had 2 pieces of baby Bok Choy and some pieces of kelp. I wished there was more vegetables. The soup also had green onions and cilantro. The broth was a tiny bit spicy from the chili oil. I am happy that this soup does not have sesame seeds in it, so I didn't have to ask them to hold the sesame seeds. Lol. My only complaint would be that the broth was a bit too salty and too oily for my tastes. I still thought it was good though. My husband enjoyed his appetizers. The imperial rolls were vegetarian. I didn't have any, but they looked like nothing special to me, haha. However, the hubby liked them which is what matters. The fried shrimp wontons looked good and he liked those too. Service was pleasant and efficient. The decor is casual with some fun touches. I liked the rotating lanterns with lights on the ceiling and the drawings of a big squid and clams on the walls. I would return to try their other noodle soups and also their handmade dumplings. Review #10 (2026)

The Long Version: My husband and I had dinner here and we really enjoyed it. I initially was going to get their soup dumplings (their specialty), but when I looked at the menu, I saw that they had Laksa ($18.99), so I couldn't resist ordering that instead. My husband prefers pan-fried dumplings over soup dumplings, so he got the pork and mushroom dumplings ($14.50) and there was a $1.99 surcharge for pan-frying (the base price is for steamed). My Laksa was huge and delicious. The broth was so rich with coconut milk and a bit spicy. It was really flavourful. The noodles had a nice chew to them. The soup also contained some decent-sized shrimp, velvetized sliced chicken, cubes of tofu and a boiled egg. I wished it had some vegetables in though because I felt very unhealthy eating just starch and protein, lol. I did enjoy it though ;) I had one of my husband's dumplings and it was good. It had ground pork in it and chopped up mushrooms. There was a slight gingery taste to it. I liked it and my husband liked them too. Service was very pleasant. The server refilled our waters regularly and I like that the water had ice in it and was very cold. The restaurant is not too large and has seating on a main level then up a few steps they have 4 more tables of 4 by the front window. We walked there from our hotel, but as with pretty much all businesses in The Plateau it's street parking only. Review #209 (2025)

Amazing Chinese food…read more Crowded with an all Chinese clientele - and all young people to boot. That is almost always an excellent sign. Very few American-Chinese//Canadian-Chinese dishes on the menu - though they exist. This may be a regional Chinese restaurant but I do not recognize the region. One visit and three dishes convinced me I have to go back rather than just eating around town. In the not to be missed department: Mushrooms fried in egg yolk. These are the most interesting fried mushrooms you will ever have. They are also the richest fried mushrooms you will ever have. You will adore every single bite - and if you are lucky you can eat 1/3 of a serving before being totally full. I believe the trick here is that the batter is 100 percent egg yolk no white no nothing else. They also do a salt and pepper tofu that is creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside. How often do you see that? Braised seafood in ginger and garlic is the same dish you see in many other Chinese establishments but is lovely here. The squid is tough but the ginger is to die for. I am eager to get back. * * * * P.S. I DID get back. We ordered five more dishes. The amazingness quotient continues. Don't miss their fried spareribs.

I was expecting a more flavored experience and maybe that is not what they do or I could have ordered differently. The menu is huge so it is hard to know where to start. We went here because of the good Yelp reviews. Were we arrived in Chinatown there were many other places that looked great, so we loitered at the door for a minute while deciding what to do. As we loitered a family came out and noticed us and asked if were were going to Keung Kee. We said we were thinking about it and they said just go, it is the best restaurant in Chinatown. Sold. We went in, up the stairs, waited a bit, and got a table. This is the kid of place you need to bring a lot of people because that is whet it is built for, the menu is extensive, and the portions are huge. We puzzled over the menu then ordered our food. We wanted a bottle of cold sake and the waiter brought it in an ice bucket. Nice. We started with the pork dumplings. The dumplings were very goof but came in a hot thick sweet peanut sauce. With a lighter sauce these would have been outstanding. The scallop was huge and had a bunch of stuff on it. There was some good scallop flavor but it was masked with all the stuff that tasted like old oil. The noodle dish was good but also had some old oil flavor coming from somewhere. All the meats and vegetables were nice and fresh but the good sauce I think was the source of the oil. We saw a table next to us had the pork chops and was asked, what are those? So we got that too. The chops were thin bone in with a batter fried then soaked in a vinegar sauce. These would have been good as our only item with a bowl of rice. Our co-eaters there had many good looking things. I would give this a try again but would bring a few more people so we could try more stuff. Total for all that including the sake was $100 Canadian. Not bad!
