I went here to get my dog's teeth brushed and nail trimmed and buffed because she has vital care. I understand I didn't have an appointment, but I was told at a different location that walk in will be okay. So the groomer here took my pup, but not even 5 minutes later after she took my dog in, I heard in the intercom that my dog is ready for pick up. I got my dog back and went to the cashier because I have a few purchases. When I got back to my car I checked my pups nails and it looked like nothings changed. Overall, it didn't seem like she did anything at all. She should've just told me no when I asked if it's okay to get those things done without an appointment. I would've understand that. I wasn't even expecting them to take her in. I just tried and see. She just made my dog anxious when she took her to the back and she didn't even do anything. There's just no way that it takes less than 5 minutes to brush my dogs teeth, trim & buff her nails. read more

I have always had a good experience @ this petco. It's reliable and the grooming staff always does a good job. My only complaint is that they did not present me with an estimate for cost of services before grooming my dog and then they chargrd me for 2 baths. But he was really dirty, so I understand it probably took multiple baths to get the job done and he looked amazing when they were done. read more

Today is the last time that I set foot in this Petco. The manager, the tall skinny old man is rude and has no customer service skills. The store never has what I am looking for, though most of the employees are nice, informative and knowledgeable; but this manger is a disgrace to the Petco chain. I feel sorry for the people that have to work with him. In this age of online options and speciality pet stores you would think that they could at least TRY to provide a minimum of customer service. I always find everything I need at this store and have never had a problem. The staff is very friendly and I have been greeted every time I walk in! We just started our 6 month old puppy in a training class and so far so good! They also match their online prices if they're cheaper. read more

Nothing too negative to say. The prices are standard to most petfood stores and the staff are just entry level positions so you cannot expect too much. The few times I have been in the store the staff is pleasant but nowhere near subject matter experts like the commercials lead you to believe but I do not fault the staff for that. If you need your dog groomed you need to go to the Vista Petco location - store 563. And, ask for Ruth. Ruth does fabulous work, and the store is very good about handling short notice appointments... They'll do whatever they can to work with you so your needs are met. We've been taking both our dogs here for the last three years, and we have their puppies no less, which isn't always easy for groomers, but Ruth and her team always manage to handle things... And I love their Petcogrooming scorecard! read more

About my recent grooming of my doodle dog......I can't say how disappointed I am. This is my second time there and the last young lady was terrific and met my needs and requests with no problem giving my pup a perfect grooming. Unfortunately I got Gage this time. Rather than give a quality breed specific haircut, he shaved her down to around 3/8 of an inch. He didn't understand how to cut out mats or what furnishings are and how to trim them. I'm going back to Pet Smart where the young women are considerate and very capable of giving a quality cut even if it requires a little more time and effort. I don't recommend going to a place that is a crap shoot on whether you get a good job or not. read more

I went here to get a few things for my new kitten. I had no idea where anything was! I want to say her name was Christie? I'm terrible with names and feel bad for forgetting but definitely something that starts with a C. She was incredible! Took me all around the store helping me find everything I needed. I visit this Petco about once a month to buy pet food and toys. It's not the best pet store I have been to, but in a pinch it has what I need. I've never had any problems with the staff but the cleanliness is less than desirable. My personal assistant takes care of grooming my pooch, but the one time I did take him to their grooming center was for a nail clipping and had no qualms! read more

Only giving 1 star because I can't give negative stars. Don't ever take your dog to be groomed at the Petco in Vista, CA. I have never had any problems with groomers, every one has always said how sweet my 5 year old sheltie is and how much they love her. Last time I had her groomed at this Petco, she was so stressed out when I picked her up, it took all day to calm her down. Today when I took her back, the most rude groomer, Austin, refused to give her a hair cut because he said there are notes in the system that she is a difficult dog. The manager on duty, Charlie, was such a meek person he couldn't control Austin, who insisted in talking over me when I was trying to explain the situation. I left extremely upset and almost in tears at the rude way I, and my fur baby, were treated. I wouldn't trust them to be near a stuffed dog, much less your precious fur baby read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I went in since a friend recommended because of a deal they had going on for travel crates for $20.00 and there they were all in the clearance section but once they rung it, it was showing as $100.00. The register lady called the manager and she might as well not even have a manager title because she was worse than the register lady. I explained what my friend got and she even remember my friend who came by and bought the item and basically said sorry the price is what rings up and I can't do anything about which is pure BS. The register lady even tried asking someone else that works there for help and the lady didn't even acknowledge her and didn't even look at me or even try to help. Probably the worst customer service I ever experienced. You could tell they all hated their job and hated being there. The entire staff needs to be replaced with a team that actually wants to help their customers. read more

This Petco may be small, but it has a lot to offer! We shop here often and have our two dogs trained here too. Alex is a phenomenal trainer, he has transformed our crazy pups (Great Dane, English Bulldog) into two little gentlemen! (Maybe not little) I also would recommend the groomers to anyone, definitely feel like our boys are taken care of here. I've seen other reviews on this location say that the staff does not seem to greet the customers, I have seriously never seen anything like this. I wish I could give this place ZERO stars! I have never liked Petco. I used to work in the grooming department at Petsmart and I heard absolute horror stories every day about Petco grooming and the quality of their products. It's been years since I have been in one and I have heard from some friends that it is a lot better now, so I decided to give it a try. My usual bird supply store closed down and I needed some millet and new toys for my feather-babies. Their prices were decent and they had the walnut litter I used to use, so I picked some up. Of course I like to wander around and look at all the pets they have in their stores, and what I saw was horrifying... There was a REALLY dead mouse in the mouse cage and it looked like he had been dead for a while, and the other mice were crawling all over his dead body. Imagine if a child saw that! Are you kidding me? I look around for an employee on the floor and there is NO ONE so I have to wait in line at the cashier just to notify someone. Finally I just blurt out that there is a dead mouse in the mouse cage and they said, "Oh thanks for telling us" with a smile, like it's no big deal!!! A once-was living, breathing creature is dead in a glass cage with other mice, on display for everyone to see! The cashier went on like nothing happened, then another customer comes up, obviously rattled, and announces that one of their turtles is dead too! Are you kidding me? What the hell are they doing to these poor animals? And once again, none of the employees really seemed concerned! They had the look of, "oh god, I don't want to deal with this right now". Most of their rats looked lethargic and unwell and weren't acting normally, as well as some hamsters. And I bet you ANYTHING they aren't going to check the other animals in the cage with the dead mouse and turtle to see if they contracted an infection or disease or are injured in any way.... Unless you want an unwell pet that is going to die really fast, I would suggest you NEVER buy from Petco. I will NOT be returning EVER, and I will make sure everyone I know who has pets are well aware of the things I have witnessed today. read more

By far the worst customer service I have had. I went to the local petco just to get one thing. I grabbed what I needed and went to get in line, where a lady who was nice, nothing against her at all. She informed me that she will be right back to assist another customer, totally understandable. So I am standing at the register waiting when a man walks up to the register, I figured okay he will be my cashier... however not one word was said to me, he just continued to grab money out of the register, fine but when another lady came up and starting assisting the 3 customers behind me. I just said forget it, spending 30 bucks in a store where you can't get AT LEAST " hello someone will be with you shortly" is outrageous. Working in the line of customer service myself, it is just a shame to be looked over and not even acknowledged. Shop elsewhere folks, unless you don't mind terrible customer service. read more

I just completed puppy training with Kayla here and it was an awesome experience. The class only had two puppies in it so it was essentially private training. Kayla was so knowledgeable my puppy pretty much had the commands mastered by the end of each class. It was then up to me to practice at home. I would totally recommend Kayla as a trainer! read more

I am a former employee at this Petco. There are many problems at this location. The General Manager (Elizabeth Lucio-Lantz)at this location is completely unprofessional! When I started here she treated me with all respect and showed me that this store was gonna be great. Until I found out that her wife (Alexandra Lucio-Lantz)is the General Manager at the La Costa Petco. If you ever wonder why you can never get a hold of the GM at the Vista Petco it is because Elizabeth is more likely to be at the La Costa Petco with her wife claiming to help her wife's store with improvements when the management at the Vista Petco can clearly tell you that is false. After a year at this location I was relieved from my duties because of excessive discount usage. Which came after I told multiple people that Elizabeth should worry about her own store since it failing in expectations. Dennis Dudek is the only reason why the store is somewhat holding up. read more

If I had the opportunity to give Petco 0 stars I would. I bought maggot infested dog food and they had no real resolution to reimburse me appropriately and expeditiously. I live near Yosemite National Park and was traveling to the San Diego area, where I purchased the food. After going through several Customer Service reps (called the Corp # on receipt) who kept getting my name & ALL of the basic info I was giving them wrong, I finally got to speak to the "Escalations Supervisor"(Kim) who (after too much time and tag) was able to get authorization for a corporate check that they can send me in 3-4 weeks. This is even after I emailed several pictures of the damaged product. Is this really the best they can do for someone living 2 hrs from the nearest Petco, who has purchased bad product from their store and is financially struggling and needs a resolution & reimbursement now? Unacceptable. I called the store Manager to see if I could get my credit card refunded and even though he seemed like a sweet man (Dennis), he gave all the power to Corporate. It was a little bothersome that he did not ask what product I bought to investigate if there were any other issues with the same product. I asked him about their stock rotation and he said they 'try their best' to rotate the product but didn't sound too convincing. Looking back, I remember another customer having an issue in the store and questioning her receipt and multiple people trying to tell her it was right, but not taking the time to explain it to her and she still left angry and no one made the attempt on her way out the door. Horrible customer service, horrible resolution process. I will NOT shop at Petco again, and will tell friends and family. I know a LOT of people with a LOT of pets. If this went all the way to the Corporate level and still wasn't resolved then this company has some major issues. Screw your Petco card, you just want me to come back and now I will not. read more

The groomer Jessica P is the best groomer out there, I have been going to her for years and followed her from the Carmel Mountain Ranch Petco. She takes the time to care and treat your dog as if he/she were her own. My dog is very nervous and timid due to a few bad experience with previous groomers, however with Jessica she always comes back with an beautifully even haircut and happy attitude. Jessica has also gone out of her way to provide advice on food, allergy remedies, and ear cleanings. read more

I will never get my dogs groomed here again! The first time I had brought my dogs to get a hair cut they were there for 6 hours and no one even cut them, and they tried to make up and excuse for why they had yet to groom my dogs. I decided to give them a second chance, and they made my poodle mix look like a shaved down chihuahua. They even shaved his nose right down the middle for no reason. I have never been more upset or disappointed this was horrible grooming. Then they didn't even get to my second dog, and said she was over time and couldn't groom him. So I had a dog shaved down, and a dog unattended to. The worse thing about it was they made me pay before I got to see my dogs. I wish I didn't even give them a star, they were horrible worse groomers to go to. read more
