I do not understand why this Petco in Richardson, TX does not have a much higher rating. I moved to North Oak Cliff and drive in to this location whenever I can due to the friendly staff and manager, Michelle. I am always greeted and this store has a great treat bar where I can buy my dog's favorite low fat pretzel treat. Michelle keeps this item well- stocked so I always can get this treat when I visit the store. I also buy additional treats for a friend! Whenever I have questions or am searching for an item either Michelle or her staff are very helpful in assisting. The store offers low cost vaccinations are specified dates and rescue groups (dogs or cats) are always welcome including Santa Claus for photos with your pet for Christmas. Liz in The Grooming Department always does an AWESOME job on my dog Carly.... who is not easy to groom. Liz is kind, nice and generous with Carly and gets her groomed beautifully every single time. Carly looks great for weeks and smells wonderful too Ashley is also great in The Grooming Department. Everyone there is always nice and super courteous to me! They have a lot of elderly customers and they are always treated so nice and workers even help them with their dogs and open doors and everything for them. read more

I live a few minutes from the store and go a few times a month. I like the employees, they are always very helpful and accommodating, and the store is always clean and well stocked. I love taking my baby and watching the ferrets play and fish swim! We even bought her a fish from this store last night. :) read more

Daniel at store #439 is rude and unprofessional. In fact he hung up on me when I called to complain about the way he treated my family that went to purchase turtles. Unfortunate experience after we go frequently to purchase fish and fish accessories. Petsmart warned our business instead. read more

I have a maltipoo pup that's very energetic. I have taken my baby here twice so far. Her groomer was Roxany, both times. I know she has to be good to groom my girl. It's a challenge for me just to brush her at home. I was very satisfied both times. read more

The grooming manager, Stephanie, and her staff are amazing. They are so kind and so patient, and Stephanie is a very talented groomer. I have 2 standard poodles who are always groomed immaculately when they go there, and they are treated gently and with love by the whole staff. I wouldn't bring my dogs anywhere else. read more

I went in there to get a lizard and this white old fat lady from the moment my friend and I came in she gave us this disgusting look. I went to look for a lizard for a birthday present for my older brother, and was just looking around. When I did get to find the perfect one I asked the lady "Hey can I get this one" she was like "How old are you and can I see your ID" I was like fine I know they have a 18 yeard old policy and I was 18 since March and she said "Barely" with this atitude. She said which one and I told her and she told me about the cage it was suppose to be in and I was not sure because of the price and she said "You dont seem to sure" and I was going to explain to her but she was just all around not friendly and I thought she was not going to let me buy it. Then she took so long to get the freaking animal and cage, my friend and I just started to look around, because she didnt even tell us "Wait here or I will get it for you" she just left. So 15 min pass and then my friend tells me she heard the lady talking to another employee that she does not want to give me the lizard, she thinks we are too young at this point I was frustrated. So I decide to just leave the store since apparently they dont want to sell me an animal, she was at the cash register checking out a men that had bought something and was being so friendly to him. I was nice and said "Hey I don't want this lizard no more" and she has the fucking audacity to roll her fucking eyes and put her godd job finger and say "Fantastic." I walked out of there with no pet and was left surprised, how the hell does an enployee does not want me to buy a lizard and supplies worth more than $100 ??? I understand her concern but she couldnt be upfront about it? Or be friendly? Their freaking policy said "You have to be 18 to buy a pet so they make sure you are capable of caring for one" but it doesn't state nowhere 18.5 months and you cant buy one, because I was 18 since March and my older brother would be capable of caring for one. I will never return there, they need to fire that employee, she forgot the number one rule about working, "Customer Service" she should take her attitude somewhere else maybe up her ass. read more

I am livid. If you have a large dog please go somewhere else. My dog came home with 6 cuts and a large gash.... She is hiding in her kennel and flinches when I try to look at her cuts. The story is that a tech cut her and that she is no longer with them, I will be following up to make sure. I'm not sure why a tech was given the responsibility to cut a large dog's fur... and why they didn't stop after the first flesh cut. If you love your dog please do not take your dog here! read more

We go in regularly and generally we have a great experience- assuming we do not need help from their employee Crawford. While the rest of the staff is very helpful and friendly Crawford is unpleasant, rude, and unwilling to help with much of anything. Questions are chastised and belittled and if you require help away from exactly where he is standing he will simply disappear. If you should see him again he will say "yeah... I find all of my pets needs at Petco. I like the healthy choices on dog food and treats. This store has supplies for any kind of pet. I also like the Petco shopping discounts I receive for my purchases. The Petco staff are always helpful at this store. read more

Liz, who is the grooming manager, does a great job at grooming my 5 dogs. She is very kind and loving with all of them and they look great every time they are there. My dogs can tell when I turn into the parking lot where they are headed and can't wait to go see Liz. As long as Liz is there, I won't take my fur babies anywhere else. read more

Toby has been coming to this location for positive dog training. The trainer, Troy, is very caring and awesome with all his training lessons. Always available for questions even outside of class hour. Toby loves him and will return for Puppy Level 2 with Troy. I do feel like Troy is not only a great trainer, but also a helpful, friendly staff. read more

I have stopped at this location before and have been completely ignored. However, I stopped here on Tuesday night and was immediately greeted by an associate, Jamal. After shopping around for a bit through the dog isles, I wondered over to the reptile area where Jamal asked me if I was finding everything okay. I asked if I could get some crickets and he then asked how many and what size I needed. After a very short wait, Jamal returned with the bag o' crickets and a smile. Not only did he help me very fast and friendly, but he also but some cricket food in the bag with the crickets to ensure that they would survive the trip home- no employee has EVER done that before. Not at a Petco, Petsmart or any other pet store. He really went the extra mile. I will definitely be going back to this Petco! On a note for the store, I wish they had a wider selection for XS collars, I could not find any for my chihuahua. read more

I've been to numerous Petco's and this store seriously has the most unfriendly employees. I must have picked a bad day to shop. None of them greet you in the store upon making eye contact. The cashier just wanted to get you out (after asking you to make a donation on the screen). Will never spend another dime at this store. read more

Staff is great! And their grooming ladies are the best. I have a 1 yr. old standard poodle and after trying multiple places a friend recommended this Petco location. Since my dog's 1st visit they did a phenomenal job! I only take her there now. Grooming Staff goes beyond their jobs! This shop did a very good job of dog care. A small Brussels Griffon bathed, trimmed and clipped. Clean, smart, and detailed service. Far better than Velvet Snout. I went back to tip the service. read more

Wish I checked on the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and yelp reviews before I took my dog in this store location for a groom service.The only reason why I went to this store was because of the location. I asked for a bath and trim, and my beautiful German Shepherd got a "concentration camp" shave! The goomer and groomer manager apparently have no training in how to handle a 12 year old mature dog and the German Shepherd breed. They worked on her for at least 8 hrs and I should have known something was wrong. They had me pay before I saw her, stating that while they are getting her, I can pay at the store ahead of time. I was shocked with the condition that she was in. When I questioned why they shaved her, when all I asked for was a trim, the grooming manager was very demeaning and had the audacity to tell me that the shave was "good for her". The grooming manager also stated that they had no other choice but to shave her because of the limited size of clippers they carry, also that my dog was all matted (which is not true, if they know the breed, this is not possible) and she also proceeded to tell me to look it up on the internet if I don't believe her. All I wanted was to take my dog home that night. I had to take her to the vet the next day because of her generalized weakened condition. The vet stated that she shouldn't have shaved her too close, apparent nicked her skin at several places, had razor burns, and has a flare up of arthritis, requirimg prescription meds. I went back to the Petco store, had a talk with the store manager (who was helpful) and asked her to mediate my complaint against the grooming manager and groomer. After some verbal arguments with the grooming manager who continued to admit that she did not do anything wrong...(the grooming manager apparently does not know what how to practice appropriate customer service), I eventually got my refund for the grooming "disservice" and had them reimburse my vet bill. I also wrote a letter to the Petco corporate office regarding my concerns regarding the training and professionalism of their grooming staff in this location. I received a generic letter of apology from them. I am no longer a customer of Petco. Just wanted to share my story, so other people and pets would not have suffer this horrible experience. read more

The petco store in richardson 439, is ok. But the grooming department i must say likes in customer service and the courtesy department. House keeping skill, to keep the front area presentable and clean for received customers is out of the question. I recently took m bichon puppy Sir Roc in for his second hear cut. I made an appointment for 8:15 in the morning. Dropped my puppy off asked how long, I'm thinking 3 hours top. she told me it would be 1:00 with it being the holiday and they were so busy. didnt seem busy to me, I was ok with that. what Im not ok with is when i got there at 1:00 to pick up my puppy he was half done and the groomer had gone to lunch. i didnt get my puppy till 2:00 thats 5 hours plus. then the cut was all wrong one side of the teddy bear cut i wanted was longer the other making my puppy head look funny. and everything i was paying for was not done. They didnt do my puppies ears to remove the hair, but i was charged for it. I should have fellow my frist mine and went back to pet smart where the young lady did at great job with the teddy bear cute and it didnt take but 3 hours. but becauce their grooming packet didnt include the ear cleaning, like petco, i went to petco grooming big mistake. lesson learned will go back to Pet Smart where the grooming is better, and they are a lot more courteous and skilled in cutting and the cutting area is alway clean and presentable to customers. To be honest i dont really think they gave him a bath, becauser he still smelled like the puppy spray i had but on his the night before. i think the just gave him a cut when they felt like it and trimmed his paws.
