I came in the other day with my dog and your trainer Tehani came right up to us and asked about our baby and was super helpful and knowledgeable! She was so sweet and nice to my fur baby Pua! She helped me pick treats and toys that would keep Pua busy and gave me tips on how help with her destructive behavior, I could tell she really cared about what she does and once I convince my husband to pay I'm definitely taking Pua to her for training! read more

I couldn't get her one day so I met Shelby and she too is absolutely AMAZING! She is so sweet and always does a GREAT job. Petco, where the pets go! I've always enjoyed going to the Kapolei location and even enjoyed it more when I walked into a Pet Adoption in progress last week. I got to meet some fine dogs, all of them found homes too. They have mostly everything I need and want. Good customer service and bargains if merchandise on sale. Extra savings with the PALS card helps immensely on high ticket items. I keep going back! read more

Went into Petco for a ghettofied zoo visit for the kids. We ended up at the fish section and decided to add onto our tank. No one was around the area for 10 minutes so I had to go to the cashier area and ask someone refilling the doggie treats area who then asked for help. A nice lady came by and answered all my questions about fish then happily grabbed me some. I then asked her more questions about getting rid of a stray cat to which she happily helped me find some products. Loved her informative help and attention. I stood in line at the cashier area and only one cashier was there. I waited about 5 minutes before another gal showed up to help ring me up.I bought two little fishes in a bag and box of doggie biscuits. She rung it up incorrectly. One of the items was on sale and she rung it up as full price. She tried all sorts of ways to ring up the sale price that didn't work...so she had to ask for help. That took a significant amount of time. She apologized and handed me my bag. As soon as I get home, I unload the car and realized there were no fish. I called Petco and they said there was a bag of fish left at the checkstand. I told them I'm coming right now to pick it up. Now, I'm aggravated that I have to drive all the way back there with my two toddlers. When I arrived at Petco, one of my toddlers has fallen asleep. GREAT! I carry the sleeping toddler and hold the hand of my other kid and march back to to Petco asking for the fish that was left at the checkstand 20 minutes ago. One of the Petco girls comes over and grabs the bag of fish and then asks me for the receipt. She can see that I literally have my hands full. I said "are you serious?" Luckily I stuffed the receipt into my backpocket or else I would've had to go back to the car with my two kids to get the dang receipt. As I show her the receipt, she said nicely "well I wouldn't want to give your fish away to someone else." HOW MANY RANDOM PEOPLE COME IN ASKING FOR FISH THAT WAS LEFT ON THE CHECKSTAND?" I replied to her...."look, you guys forgot to put the fish in the bag" and now I have to prove that I purchased it here? I get people make mistakes. I wasn't terribly upset that I had to come back and pick up the fish that was left behind because it was partially my fault for not double checking the bag. My problem is carrying a heavy, sleeping kid in one arm and holding my other kid with the other and then feeling like a thief? Couldn't you just take my word for it and just hand the fish over, especially if you see that i'm not holding a purse and I literally have my hands full? As you can see I'm irritated that you made a mistake and then made me feel like a thief. If anything, you should've been apologetic. Just sayin... read more

I love Petco but some or majority of the staff here are very rude. They give attitude and express a sense of frustration when me and my boyfriend come in to buy crickets. They said they price match but on numerous occasions they would give us attitude about doing the price match. The manager even told my boyfriend that we should just drive to Kalihi if we want it for that price. Ughhh hello the last time I checked you are the manager. There is one employee that we love, she is nice and helpful. She was the one that told us about the price match cuz we would come in all the time if we were unable to go to Kalihi. I think her name is Gretchen. The next time I go there and they decided to give us attitude I'm gonna snap and ask to speak to a higher manager. They should not be treating customers like that. We don't only come in for crickets but for fish and dog products too. read more

I will only bring my dogs to this location. Ash in the grooming department is absolutely amazing. I have a Siberian Husky who is rather diva-licious and hates getting her hair cut and nails trimmed. Ash always does a great job getting her cut perfect despite her spazzing the whole time. He is very personable and is clearly passionate about his job which I'm sure can be challenging at times. read more

By far the best pet grooming experience I've had so far. They were completely booked (Saturday's are always hard to get in without an apt) but expressed to me if I don't mind waiting a little longer they would be happy to take him. Nikki was amazing and the way she took care and listened to my request, you can tell she really loves her job. If I could give her and the whole grooming salon more than 5 stars I would. Also a very great location to go to target; Ross grab invite to eat or even watch a movie while I wait. Took my cocker here for his first grooming experiance, he is only 7months old, they did a really good job and I would love to go back but who can really afford 70 bucks to get their dog groomed. I opt to not have his ears cleaned, nails trimmed and teeth cleaned but they still added stuff so it would not be less than about 70 bucks. read more

We have been taking our Lhasa Apo and Shih Tsu here for grooming. They do such a wonderful job on them each time we bring them in. Yes, it can be a bit pricey for grooming service but I think it's worth it. They also offer a variety of grain-free dog food that our dogs love. The customer service here is great! I have no complaints. read more

Friendly staff. I brought my dog there right after getting her from Hawaii spca. She had an accident on the floor and they were very cool about it. Took back things too small for our dog and recommended better alternatives that also happened to be cheaper. When the staff asked us what we were feeding our particular breed they also informed us that she probably has a grain allergy. After switching her to the grain free food her skin has cleared up. Always met with a friendly smile from the associates. If I have product questions, I am usually given more than enough information to satisfy my needs. If they don't know the answer they go find out. I really appreciate that quality in a person. I do think overall the store is a little pricey. However, they stock hard to find items and also have great sales. The support the company has for homeless pets is really great too. I do think the groomers, while they did an "ok" job, were very over priced. Especially with all the little add on's. read more

This review is purely based upon our experience with an employee named José. We walked in this evening just to see the adoptable pets. We saw a rabbit and my sister inlaw was instantly in love. Not knowing how much the fees were we asked the next worker that came our way.. we then were able to pet RODGER the rabbit, learned about guinea pigs amd how to sex them, we touched a chinchilla for the first time and were able to interact with the conures they had and learn a little about them. He was so educated about these animals and had personal experiences with all of them. He has special bonds with these animals, its like its not just a job for him, it's a passion. read more

I have always had great customer service at kapolei PETCO. Everyone is so helpful and happy VAL and Stephen are knowledgeable and always look for them when I'm there. Store manager Peter is great. I had a guinea pig who was not getting along with other pigs, and I couldnt make them click. I was calling around to find a place that would help her go to a good home. I got nothing but attitude from the humane society, and some Petcos were not willing to hear my situation. Peter listened politely, offered advice, and even said they would help her get adopted out if I still chose that route. read more

I absolutely love the Petco in Kapolei. I have never met an unhappy employee at this location, they are all wonderful and extremely helpful. There is one woman in particular, I don't remember her name but she has very long dark hair and always has a kind word and a smile on her face. I take both of my dogs to their grooming department and have had nothing but wonderful service. My newest pup is a VERY energetic 9 month old rescue who can jump higher than I am tall! When I took her in for her very first grooming her coat was a wreck and she was acting her usual fiesty self. Ash from the grooming salon was so patient and kind to her and I got her back looking gorgeous. He is always so sweet to my other dog and he clearly has the patience of a saint to put so much time and effort in to grooming my new pup. I would recommend anyone to take their dog to be groomed by Ash. He talks to the dogs like they are his own, it really makes my heart melt. read more

I love this place! Great knowledgeable staff who stop what they are doing to talk to you or find something for you! I just got a Jack Russell and had some behavior and diet questions. A sales rep walking by quickly stopped and talked to me for about 10 min and answered all my questions. Got what I needed and was quickly out the store. Made an appt for the first time for my baby to get groomed here. Staff was very informative and answered all my questions and concerns I had. Had my dog dropped off before I got off of work and when I arrive about an hour after her appt, she was in the kennel being dried and still had a little more things to do once she was dry. She loved it and looks so pretty! She spent about 2 hours here and the price was definitely worth it as she seems happy. Thank you, Tib!! I will be bringing my Nala back soon. read more

I adopted a dog from Oahu SPCA and have been coming here pretty often. The staff have been more than helpful with me and oh so patient too! I've been trying to find the right food for my dog that is super fussy with his taste buds since he was probably given table scraps as his diet!!! After about a month of buying and returning, buying and returning, and asking and walking around, I have finally found what my baby likes! Thank you so much for all that you guys do! My 6 month old Australian Shepherd, Kona, has been going to classes for the past 4 weeks with Sherrill and my family and I could not be happier! Sherrill is truly the best trainer that I have ever met! She treats all of the pups at our class as if they were her own dogs and not only cares about them learning skills and techniques with positive reinforcement but more importantly she cares about making sure that the owners and family are educated and informed of the proper ways to train and develop a great relationship with your dog! She truly has a passion for what she does and it's so easy to see that she is amazing at her job! From the first time we went in just to ask about pricing she has welcomed us in like family and has truly gone above and beyond to give us the skills and the tools that we need to train our puppy! I truly can't believe how much Kona has learned in such a short period of time and that's all thanks to Sherrill!! We've already signed up for the level 2 classes! I will try to keep this as factual as possible. The prices across the board are anywhere from 15% to 50% overpriced as compared to other stores on this island. The service is pathetically inadequate. I was excited since Cesar Millan seems to be connected closely with this nationwide chain and so anticipated prior to their grand openings that this would be my new "go to" store. Not the case. I also wonder, is it a nationwide consensus that Petco is so drastically overpriced or simply here in Hawaii? read more

Today I brought my pomeranian in to Petco Kapolei to have him groomed. What a mistake! We waited for 5hrs and he still had to be rushed through drying before we could pick him up. When I finally got my boy, he had small hair ball mats still in his fur. I was informed (none to politely) that I should have gotten the "deshedding package". I would have happily added that instead of the spa package if I'd been told such a thing existed. I asked to speak to a manager, and I did. A useless manager that couldn't help me fix the amount owed or give me credit. I was told I have to call a DIFFERENT manager tomorrow and try to work this out. The only positive part of talking to the manager on duty was that he did agree with my assessment of my dog's grooming. This whole experience disheartened me. I have regularly taken him to the Petco in Pearl City for grooming and they've done a pretty good to very good job with his grooms every single time. Bottom line, I think the staff at Pearl City is better trained, and frankly just enjoy their jobs and our pets more! read more
