Duke & his classmate, they became friends and learned to be good dogs with manners at the board and train with Raya
Krystal R.

Amazing, we worked with Raya, she is an excellent communicator with our dog and with us..... he is a big Rottweiler that has so much energy, she was able to get him under control, have him learn commands, place in public places and stay... we highly recommend this company and especially RAYA. She is a very hard working trainer and we felt very confident leaving our pup with her for the board and train. Totally worth it!!!

I sent my 10-month-old Golden Retriever to Island Dog Obedience for their two-week program, and I'm honestly blown away by the results. Before training, my pup was sweet but definitely had some opportunity on the behavioral side of things. Now? He's off-leash trained, stays in place while I move around the house, and listens with a level of obedience I didn't think was possible this early on. The structure and consistency they provided made a world of difference, and the tools they sent us home with, including the best e-collar trainer in the business which set us up for success. My dog is now calm, confident, and responsive. If you're on the fence, just do it. It's been a total game-changer for both of us. Mahalo, Island Dog!

Lili in training!

Ryan was wonderful with our 6-month old rescue puppy Lilikoi (Ridgeback mix). She was comfortable during her board and train and learned a lot. Her social anxiety has reduced significantly, she's much more confident around other dogs, and the e-collar training has been working great. Ryan also gave us practical tips when we picked her up, which have been very helpful. I'll admit I was nervous about sending Lili for e-collar training and worried it might change her personality. But she came back the same goofy, happy Lili we love -- just more confident and able to listen to us so much more. Ryan was so patient throughout the process, sent us daily videos, and took his time going over everything when we picked her up. We highly recommend Island Dog Obedience!

I have known Island Dog Obedience for 5 years and when I travel, my fur baby Nani boards with them. When boarding, she meets new friends, goes on adventures and they maintain her training. It is amazing to have a trainer boarding your dog. It puts me at ease.

This was a good experience. My dog learned a lot and I am the one who needs to learn more. This Company keeps to its standards and will make sure everything is great or will work with you until it is. You can't ask for anything more than that! I thank Marie for contacting me and I'm so happy I went to Island Dog Obedience.

Kristi trainer and our doodle

2 weeks boarding program made our life changed!! Before, our almost 3 years doodle, when she saw her favorite persons, she got so excited and jumping to the person. We had her other obedience training before but this has been hard to fix issue. Now she stops! 4 feet on ground! Also we got her strong recall and off leash training. She does very good! When we jogging, much better and better response from her! Trainer Kristi was so awesome! Daily report with very nice pictures and videos. Strongly recommended! I used to strongly against e collar. But if you use right equipment on right way, this is life changing! Protect your love one and others! And this is not bark collar! If you reading this, don't waste money for other training! I already spent lots money and time. I wish I did this from the beginning! And I am at beach with my doodle. This is 1st time since she got home from training. There is some issue and I messaged Kristi. She immediately responded and gave me some advice and I just keep trying. Slowly but surely it getting better! I am very appreciate her support!!!

I love this company and the owner. We adopted a dog who was not trained at all or socialized and we tried to train him ourselves but it was stressful and rough. We finally decided to invest in the 2 week board and train. We were lucky enough to have Maria as the trainer. She's very professional and always puts safety first in addition to having a lot of experience in dog training. During the two weeks she was always communicating with us and if I had any questions or concerns, she replied back to me quickly. We were given videos and pics during the training period. They were taken on adventures. They individualize the training for each dog based on what needs to be worked on. Even though our fur baby was with them I could trust that they took care of him and he was loved and safe. Now that we got our fur baby home, he's trained with the basics but we would need to continually practice what they taught him. He has become a completely different and obedient/trained dog! We are forever thankful for their help and the teaching they have provided to us and Cheddar!!

If you are looking for the best dog trainers in Oahu, then look no further. We have tried a few different dog trainers but picked Island Dog Obedience because we liked their approach. Initially, we did a few lessons and loved how our dog responded but we finally wanted to see how he would do with board and train. As dog parents, we were hesitant to just leave him for two weeks, but Maria and Kristi were wonderful at answering all of our questions and concerns. Once Kristi picked our dog, we got daily updates (picture and video) and knew that he was having a blast but also learning good behavior. When we picked him up after 2 weeks, he was a different dog! And it wasn't just a simple handoff, we received a detailed progress report, commands, and future homework. We would highly recommend Island Dog Obedience for not just board and train but overall trainers in general. Big Mahalo to Kristi for taking care of our dog and all the progress he made in 2 weeks!

Some of the many cute pictures she took of my dogs (:

I am so grateful that I found Island Dog Obedience and for my amazing trainer Raya! My mom and I desperately needed our dogs to be properly trained because we could not leave them by themselves! Bella would bark for long periods of time when she knew someone wasn't home and had really bad separation anxiety. Bailey would constantly bark at people and other dogs. I was so amazed at how accommodating she was! She was willing to drive at the way to kaimuki to help train my dogs from the comfort of my own home! It was so convenient especially since I didn't have the transportation to get there and wasn't able to drive at the time. Bella and Bailey were really scared at first and kept barking because they don't interact with much people outside. My trainer immediately could see what my problem was and made sure to start with teaching me how to get them to stop barking. These e collars are so helpful till this day! I was initially worried that it would hurt the dog because it looked like a shock collar, but you can adjust the vibration. Raya was such a big help on getting my dogs exposed to more places, people, etc. I was concerned they were gonna bark a lot, but they didn't. They were so good! It was such a huge change. They both eventually loved my trainer They're also doing so much better at listening to my commands, getting used to their "place" and their kennels! She also took the cutest pictures of my dogs at every session! I wasn't expecting such cute pictures! I highly recommend island dog obedience to anyone that's struggling to train your dog! So worth it!

We did the 2 week board and train with Kristi. Bruiser is 3.5 years old. He is a stubborn Frenchie and had been having some issues with resource guarding at home and reactivity with other dogs. Kristi was very communicative throughout his stay and updated me with pictures and videos on what he was learning. He came home one week ago a different dog (but still same sweet personality)! He is much better at listening and following commands. He doesn't exhibit resource guarding at home anymore. We are still working some on the reactivity but he is definitely improving. I feel more in control and confident on how to handle him. Kristi has also been checking in which is very nice. I am happy to have chosen Island Dog Obedience and would recommend them to anyone!

LEVI and LEO

My husband and I have two handsome mini Goldendoodles--Leo, who is almost 4, and Levi, who just turned one. We are absolutely blown away by the incredible work Maria and Kristi have done with our boys. Walking them is now a joy; we confidently stroll around the neighborhood off-leash, even during interactions with people and other dogs. Maria and Kristi laid the foundation and structure for our dogs to thrive, and it was up to us to maintain the progress. Just three weeks post board-and-train, our Goldendoodles have impeccable door manners, and they no longer bark or yap at people or other dogs. Most importantly, they are obedient off-leash, which has made life with them so much more enjoyable. We're grateful for the continued check-ins and everything you've taught us and the boys. If anyone has doubts, DON'T! This experience has been truly transformative!

We're so happy we enrolled our puppies with Island Dog Obedience! Having never had two puppies at the same time, we were overwhelmed to say the least. We initially had a consultation with trainer Chi. She was terrific with our puppies and very reassuring. She gave us some very useful tips for working with them until they were old enough to do the full board and train. Our puppies are rambunctious, as all puppies are, and needed to learn good behavior in the house and how to be with one another without rough housing. They also needed to learn how to heel, sit, and place. While Chi was not available for board and train, she connected us with trainer Ryan. Immediately we could see that Ryan was going to be very good with the puppies. They took to him quickly and although we were nervous about not seeing them for two weeks, we felt they were in good hands. We received daily videos, pictures, and reports on how our puppies were doing. From the start they were learning good behaviors. We enjoyed hearing how the puppies showed their individual personalities and how they trusted Ryan. When we picked up the puppies, Ryan spent time with us to go through what they learned. He also ran us through some drills to make sure we reinforced what they learned, encouraging us not to let the puppies get away with things or try to revert to old behaviors. The puppies have been great since they returned home. We enjoy having them both in the house without worrying that they will destroy everything in their paths. They listen (for the most part - they are still puppies and are testing their boundaries). We are so happy that we connected with Island Dog Obedience. Maria, the owner, is great and Ryan is wonderful. We plan to board our pups with Ryan when we travel. We know they will enjoy being with him again. We highly recommend Island Dog Obedience. While the board and train cost may give you pause, it is worth the investment.

We eventually decided on the basic 4-lesson training sessions, and we just completed our last one yesterday with Loren. Shout out to Loren for working so well with our Tank and Pepper!! First and foremost, you MUST be willing to practice reinforcing all the lessons you learn on your own time in between training sessions. It's like learning something once and then not doing your homework...would that work? Of course not. SOooooo.... my husband and I (mostly my husband), really put a lot of effort into doing our "homework" in between sessions with Loren. I mean, I wouldn't want to be the embarrassed parents who didn't help their children succeed, lol. Anywho, each training session was clear and had lots of scaffolding and repetition, so that our pups could succeed. There was plenty of explanation behind all the commands and corrections, so we knew how to handle our specific dogs. I think the personalization and customization was wonderful, and it makes me really happy to see that the trainer knew his stuff! Further, it was clear that he genuinely cared about each dog and his/her personality traits that makes each dog unique. During the 4-lesson basic package, Tank and Pepper learned sit (with duration and distance), place (with duration and distance), heel (still needs LOTS of practice), and down (with distance and duration). Now from here on out, it's about reinforcement, reinforcement, reinforcement. I don't want to lose any of this precious learning, so we better stay on top of things and continue the great work that has begin. We're so happy with k9 Off Leash that we are now also seriously considering the 2-week board and train with both Tank and Pepper. I know these guys are way booked out, so if you're even considering, then I suggest you call them right away!! Thank you, Loren, ad k9 Off Leash for your help with Tank and Pepper!!

For anyone who is looking for an integrative medicine practice for their four legged family…read moremembers, I strongly recommend KAI Animal Institute. They were referred to us by our vet at VCA Kaneohe to treat our dog's degenerative disease that impacted her spinal cord, affecting her back legs and ability to walk. She had been going for laser therapy treatment at VCA for pain which was initially working, then her vet recommended Dr. Gregg Levine and KAI Animal Institute as an integrative and complementary mode of treatment for pain management of her spinal cord disease. We're so glad her vet recommended KAI Animal Institute. In our first communication with Dr. Levine, he went over our dog's history over the phone, and went over various modes of treatment he could offer to relieve our dog's pain. We then setup a treatment session at his healing studio for him to assess our dog's health and recommend the most appropriate course of treatment. Stepping into KAI Animal Institute's studio, we were greeted with a calming and healing oasis that was thoughtfully designed for animals where Dr. Levine used various treatments like low level light laser therapy, rehab therapy, targeted pulse electromagnetic field therapy, and acupuncture for our dog's pain. In addition, his wife, Julie, an animal behaviorist, performed harmonic therapy for our dog during the treatment which used sound healing powers to further help calm and treat our dog in addition to the acupuncture, etc. Soothing music was played in the background during the treatment session which helped even my husband and I to relax. During and after each session, we could see a change in our dog's behavior and demeanor. She would smile and be so happy, excited to go to KAI Animal Institute's healing oasis and see Dr. Levine and Julie because she knew they would help her feel better. She was able to stand for brief periods with assistance and continually kept trying to use her back legs on her own. Mahalo Nui Loa Dr. Levine and Julie for providing such kind, compassionate, and caring treatments to our dog to help her with pain management. We are so thankful, grateful and blessed to have met Dr. Levine and Julie and can't recommend them enough for complementary care for animals dealing with pain or recovering from an injury or surgery.

His holistic approach to addressing whatever issue the dog is presenting that day and using the full range of therapies to treat them instead of having to pick from an ala carte menu like other places has been amazing. From acupuncture, to cold laser therapy, and even fun physical games that get the dog to strengthen the right muscles. Even a stroll along the beach was integrated to help heal the mind and body. Being a part of the therapy myself as opposed to just waiting outside a clinic has strengthened the bond and trust between my dog and myself. She has learned new tricks, even at the age of 13, that have enriched her life and our relationship. We started with him to just address a back leg injury Keira had suffered, but have since expanded to help Keira heal and hold off the bits of aging her body has begun to show. I am beyond pleased with the results and use the therapy and training techniques Dr. Levine taught us daily to continue my dog's healing and progress. As you can see in the last photo, Keira is a very happy customer at the end of every session! I can't recommend Kai Animal Institute enough!
