    We are so glad we found Leonard! Our 3 year old dog Drogo is the quintessential "Husky". Good natured and goofy, but insubordinate, stubborn, sneaky, and with some animal reactivity. He was a Covid puppy and was never properly socialized to different environments, and for this reason he could be a lot to handle. We knew we needed to get him some professional training. We searched Oahu to find a trainer who we thought could meet his needs - we talked to many people with no luck, but after one phone conversation with Leonard we knew that he was a great fit. We sent Drogo for a 10 day immersion camp in April, and our experience was overwhelmingly positive. Leonard is professional, relatable, and thorough. He always goes above and beyond to answer our questions, stayed late at our training sessions until he could tell we were comfortable, and was always clear and upfront with his expectations and rules for the camp. We felt extremely comfortable leaving the island for vacation with Drogo under Leonard's care. Since we returned, we have had three lessons with Leonard, and we know that if we ever have any trouble we can call him for help. Drogo absolutely loves Leonard, and is always so excited to see him. He also listen to him unlike we've ever seen him listen to a human before - it sort of uncanny how much of a relationship he was able to build with Leonard in less than two weeks. I would also like to note that the only negative reviews I see here have very little to do with Leonard as a trainer and much more to do with people having unrealistic expectations for their training experience. Firstly, no dog can be "cured" of any behavioral issue in two weeks. Leonard is clear from the start that while he can lay the building blocks and groundwork for a well behaved dog, it takes lots of dedication and hard work on the part of the owner to uphold the training when the dog returns home. There is no "quick fix" and Leonard understands and communicates that from the get go. Does drogo still choose not to listen? Of course he does! Does he still react to other dogs? Yes. But the difference we see in him from before Leonard's camp to after is significantly positive. Also - dogs are going to lose a few pounds and smell like the outdoors when they are being trained and exercised every single day. In my opinion, Leonard is a talented, trustworthy individual who you can 100% trust with your pup! I really can't express what a relief it is to have somebody who can help train and board Drogo on the island. Thank you, Leonard!

    I can say with "Exceptional Obedience" sincerity that Leonard Letoto is the purest most talented soul I've met in the industry. His greatest asset is that he truly loves the animals and his motives are pure. " Exceptional Obedience" Are the best in the business! Leonard Letoto went above and beyond my expectations and his personal involvement in my case with my four month old puppy half German shepherd dog half Malinois. Her drive is of a pure Malinois in my opinion. The results was perfect. I know this due to years of going to obedience classes with one AKC German Shepherd show dog, one AKC German Shepherd working class dog, and one Dutch shepherd working class. I couldn't be more satisfied with the results of this program and will forever be grateful to Leonard Leototo. In my opinion he is the best in the business and the to GO GUY.

    If there was an option for ZERO stars, that's what this company deserves. On December 26th I scheduled an appointment via the website link in Yelp. The online appt form does not require a phone number but it does require you to enter an address (see photo). The initial email confirmation states: "NOTE: Please be sure to have your phone turned on at least 1 hour prior to your scheduled appointment and be prepared for a call from your Trainer. You may be contacted for various reasons (e.g. unable to locate and/or access your residence.) If the Trainer cannot get a hold of you, your appointment may be canceled." On January 22nd I received a 2nd email confirmation which confirmed the date and time for January 24th. The email SPECIFICALLY says "If for any reason you CANNOT keep this appointment, do NOT reply to this email. Please call us at (808) 778-5866 to inform us of your DESIRE TO CANCEL." After receiving the email confirmation I assumed that my appointment was confirmed. I got off early from my busy work day to make it in time. At 4:17 I called the number and left a message inquiring about the tardiness thinking maybe he was lost. I didn't hear back so I continued to wait. At 4:33 I called back and Mr. Letoto answered. His response to me was that he left me a message the day prior because my address was not complete on the profile form and since I didn't respond, he cancelled the appt. The address was missing a number but if you enter the address in GPS, it brings you to desired location. My street is small and less than one block. I didn't receive his call and I questioned why he didn't email me for specifics and he said he's too busy to do that. I then went on to say if he wanted confirmation then his email should say "call to confirm" instead of what it actually says " inform us of your desire to cancel". More than anything, his UNPROFESSIONALISM, his smugness and his lack of respect for a potential client's time is why I am writing this review. If he had just been a little professional in his response, you wouldn't be reading this but his utter lack of concern for my inconvenienced day was infuriating. I want to support local small business but when one encounters customer service so lacking of customer service such as I did today with Exceptional Obedience, it is no wonder why people turn to companies like PETCO or PETSMART. If this is how he treats potential clients, I'd hate to see how he'd train my unruly dog. I realized that I didn't want to discuss it further and I said thank you and informed him my experience would be reflected in my review, he said "have a nice day" and HUNG UP ON ME. I recorded the conversation as well as have photos of the email confirmation to corroborate my review. If this company wants constructive criticism he should (1) change the automatic email message reminder to confirm appt. (2) If he is too busy to use email, then he SHOULD NOT have an electronic service to make appts, he should just have people call to schedule appointments. (3) They need to edit their forms to reflect their cancellation actions. And last but not least, if all else fails, remember -- the customer is always right. Mr. Letoto is a trainer that needs more training himself.

Kristi is truly one of a kind My boyfriend and I came to her desperate for help with our new pup, Kona, who struggled with severe anxiety. He was scared of pretty much everything -- people, new environments, being separated from us -- and we were also dealing with barking, basic obedience, and some unwanted behaviors. After just 4 sessions, the transformation has been unbelievable. Today was our final session, and I honestly wish I had a video of how Kona used to be so people could truly understand how far he's come. At the beginning, he wouldn't even go up to Kristi and was extremely hesitant and fearful whenever she took the leash. Now? He confidently walks up to her on his own terms -- calm, trusting, and self-assured. That alone speaks volumes. Kristi didn't just train Kona -- she guided us on how to train him the right way. She's patient, knowledgeable, supportive, and truly cares about both the dog and the owners. She sets you up for success, but it's important to note that the progress comes from continuing the work at home too -- and her guidance made that possible for us. We are beyond grateful for Kristi and everything she's done for our pup. If you're dealing with anxiety, fear, or behavioral issues and want real results, Island Dog Obedience is 100% worth it. Running away, jumping, even pooping right in front of us... it got to the point where it just wasn't fun anymore. That's when we called Island Dog Obedience. Kristi was incredible from the start. She came to our home to meet Gigi, and soon after, Gigi was off to Kaneohe for training. It was hard being without her, and we wondered if anything would really change. Then came the daily photos--Gigi playing with other dogs, calmly sitting on her cot, and responding beautifully to Kristi's commands. It was amazing to see. When Gigi came home, we were hopeful but unsure. She greeted us with joyful zoomies, then quickly settled down and listened. We couldn't believe it--she was a completely different dog! Gigi is now the best little pug, and it's all thanks to Kristi. She was amazing, and at our house for over 2 hours making sure we understand how the e collar worked. But members have discounts which dropped the price to $3.45 (tax included). Price = 5 stars. But to get to purchase it is another story. Strange vibe from person catching the fish, basically told me, "what do I want, how many, is that all, go wait by the cashier, I'll bring you the fish", sure took a long time to catch the fishes compared to other shops. Did not mention any discounts and I didn't see any signs stating discounts. Then I go to the cashier, she ask for phone number, told her I don't want to give it to her. Didn't realize she was trying to get my membership number pulled up. Took out my credit card to pay and was told I'm not allowed make a purchase, so questioned her that I buy fish food from their Honolulu location, what does she mean I'm not allowed to make a purchase, then she clarified that since I'm not a member I'm not allowed to purchase live animals including fishes. I wanted to make sure I heard her correctly and restated back to her, so I have to be a member to purchase fish, she said yes, if not they couldn't sell me fish. So I question her, the fish in the bag will have to go back in the tank? She says yes. Silence..... So on my end I state, can I sign up to be a member, and from there it moved on to purchasing the fish. For those who want to return dead fish - the cashier explained to me the rules, bring back dead fish within 30 days, bring receipt, and bring some of the aquarium water (as they test the water), need these 3 items or they can't give you a return. The people that I interacted with kind of threw me off, almost like I were dealing with robots, I'm sure they are very nice people. But it got me thinking, what if I told fish person, I want 5 of this, 5 of that and 5 of that fishes, I'm pretty sure would have took +15 minutes to bring to the cashier. Then I tell cashier I don't have a membership, and we just stare at each other like robots. Get rid of the membership requirement to buy fishes.

    Wanted to upgrade my axolotl's tank and get a better quality filter. Stopped by pet depot after…read morework and was helped by Carina. She was very friendly and helpful, told her what the tank was for and what I was kinda looking for and she showed me some options. She then took me to her computer and showed me the dimensions of the tank I was looking at( just to make sure it'll fit on my stand at home) I called them back when I measured it and she told me she would have her boss call me and send me an invoice for the tank. Fast forward bought the tank and told them I'd pick it up the next day after work. Come that day to pick up my tank Ryan (the manager) helped me. I told him I wanted a good quality filter so I wouldn't have to really maintain it all the time. He was veryyyyy helpful and knowledge!! He gave me a few options of the filters, the best ones and the ones that he wouldn't recommend for my fish.He also gave me pointers on how to keep my axolotl cold. (They can only be in cold water) bought the filter (oase filtosmart thermo 200) he recommended and Ryan actually showed us how it works and how to set it up. $500 later, we had the whole set up. Even though it was pricy, I rather pay for the good quality things cuz who wants to keep wasting money on cheap/ meh quality. We tried setting it up when we got home and for some reason the water wasn't going through the tubes. I called pet depot and George offered to FaceTime us to see where we were wrong and walk us through the steps. 15 minutes later the filter worked and my axolotl couldn't be any happier! I truly want to thank all these people for their TRUE Customer service. I honestly haven't been this blown away with this kind of customer service in a really looong time. They went FAR and BEYOND just for us. They gave us their honest opinion and went that extra mile face timing us!! I still can't believe it! Thank youuu soooooo much for alllll the help!! Very much appreciated it! So anyone that needs any pet supplies pls go to this store! 10000%% worth it!
