They did make some changes a few years ago, For the better and I'm so happy with the services. They're super caring and loving to my Jax. And I like their care program, it's $20 a month. You get a 10% percentage off of all your shopping, you get cash back credit each month For your shopping, which pays for the monthly fee. And you get discounts of grooming and bags of food and after number of grooming and bags of food, you get a free one. So if you're not using vital care, you might wanna look that up. Also price matching!! if you price match Pet Co prices on the mainland, you can save up to $30-$3 per item. Someone showed me how to do it several years ago. It's best to look it up before you get into the store. Because sometimes the store Internet takes a long time to read. read more

Clarification: the only reason I gave 3 stars the last time was because I wasn't sure who groomed Bubba. But let's make one thing clear - there's no one else I trust to take care of & groom my dogs except for JAYCIA. Since day 1, she's been our preferred groomer. She's a breath of fresh air: is personable, has amazing customer service, and most importantly, she takes care of Bubba and Nipsy as if they were her own. Bubba has seen her for the past 5 years and Nipsy for almost 3! For goodness sakes, they know her as "Aunty Jaycia" lol. I feel safe leaving Bubba & Nipsy in her care. My ideal situation would be for Jaycia to open up her own groom & board company. WAITING FOR THE DAY! We'd be the first customers! I have been a customer at Petco for supplies for many years, but decided to give their groomers a try. I booked online, and upon early arrival for the appointment was met with a passive-agressive attitude because I arrived early. I thought maybe the receptionist was having a bad day so I didn't let it bother me. Check in was completed by selecting the cut and confirming the booked services and just as she was taking my dog's leash, the groomer came out. She rolled her eyes at my dog and whispered in the receptionists ear. I was then told by the receptionist that they didn't have time to groom my dog today. I was told it would take three hours, and the groomer wanted to leave early. Seriously? I drove half way across the island to be rudely dismissed? With the attitude I received, and not honoring a fully booked appointment - I would think twice before you waste your time booking here - or trusting your pet with these clearly frustrated groomers. My husband and I stop into this Petco any time we have to make a run to Kapolei. We have fun just looking at everything and interacting with all of the wonderful pets that are there. I really love the aquarium section. The fish and aquatic pets are very well taken care of and the aquariums are just beautiful. This review is for their GROOMING SERVICES. We bring our German Shepherd and Frenchie to this location to get groomed. I know what you're thinking...why does a Frenchie need to get groomed? Well long story short, our GSD has anxiety issues and she likes to have her little brother around, so Braxton earns a free trip to the groomers. Parking is ample because its in a huge business complex. As I mentioned above, our Kira has anxiety issues which causes her to shy away from people and bark...alot. Ray is our absolute favorite and Kira absolutely loves her, she is so calm when she sees Aunty Ray. I was always so worried that groomers don't know how to treat GSDs because one too many times I've been asked "Do you want a hair cut?" NO, don't cut German shepherd hair !! We opt for the full spa treatment with de shedding for Kira and they always come home smelling great and feeling clean. This is so important with a baby in the house. The store itself has the necessities you would need for your pets, and also started carrying our dog food (they weren't before) Orijen. The staff do their own thing and you would usually have to ask the cashiers if you need help. There are cleaners and poop bags incase your pet has an accident which is great if you forget to bring your own. I see that they do often have sales on seasonal items/toys which I take advantage of because no toy makes it past a day in our home. So two for $5 is my section! See you soon Ray! read more

Grooming dept !! The girl that came to the desk to check us in, very unfriendly, acting like she hated her job. I have large dog, not extra large. He's a Doberman. I know he weighs 80 pounds. She insisted on weighing him on a small scale. His paws would come off the scale and she would grab them and put them back on. Anyhow a lot of moving around on a small scale. Just so she could charge me for the extra large dog fee. Then she notices he has a scab on his leg and it's peeling. WELL YA! She was practically fighting with him getting his legs on the scale, so roughly! A small scab came off. So then she calls her manager. Who then came to tell me he was bleeding so they could not bath him. Long story short, he would have been fine. It was scabbed before she made such a fuss to insist he was 82 pounds and extra large. Plus she wasn't even gonna be his stylist. read more

Hubby and I came here to get some dog food for our puppies. The dog food is high in protein so it should be good for the puppies but we will see if the puppies like it or not. I don't remember the brand name but the guy at the cashier said it's good protein for the dogs. The inside was clean and the cashier was friendly and funny. I liked how he made conversation and interacted with us. A definite plus in customer service. We didn't get help on the floor and hubby managed to find the dog food he was looking for. Plenty of parking up front. They pretty much carry a lot of items for you pets. We have three puppies so hubby makes sure they have enough dog food and puppy pads. After groomer Helen told us to come over 'as soon as possible' to get an appointment, so we packed up our pup, dropped everything we were doing & rushed over to kapolei petco to get our pup a fresh grooming. Arriving at petco we waited over 15 minutes because apparently all but 2 employees were in a meeting. Both cashiers struggling to get long line of customers checked out and answering phones. After a while of waiting we were finally informed that their manager "Sheila" doesn't properly train any of her employees. I will refer to the term "lazy". The manager Sheila is lazy and doesn't like to train the employees to give out accurate information to customers. And "Hellens" excuse to reject our pup from getting groomed is that it was our first time here at petco and we needed a "vets clearance" to get groomed here. Immediately I called our vet and was informed that vets and dr's "cannot" give clearance for any pet to be groomed at all. So the manager sent us on a wild goose chase for no reason and had no logical explanation for not seeing us in. I asked for near-bye groomers and they gave a long list " they must refuse a lot of business because of their laziness". That's about it, hopefully new management comes in this store that can provide a new atmosphere of customer service because this was a complete waste of time. The staff is friendly, as a company they do community services on the weekends like cat or dog adoptions. Our pup loves it because she gets to come and see everything she wants and needs. She loves exploring every aisle and greeting the staff. They do take the time to greet her and give her a friendly smile. Come in when you're shopping for your 4 legged family member. Customer service here is on point. I recently switched my dog to a new, duck protein dog food! I could t, for the life of me, find it on the Petco app. So, I called and gave them the name of the food and within minutes they were able to find it! The woman I spoke with offered to hold the last bag for me up until their closing time of 8pm, same day. I walked in around 6pm and it was up in the front with my name on it. Great service! Went to pick up a pack of cat food and after waiting for 40 minutes curbside, decided to go in. I stood in the common check in line another 15 minutes looking at all those other curbside orders stacked- up on the shelf. There was no other employee designated for the curbside pick up. There was a constant announcement going on about arrival of curbside customer but no one was responding to that. The cashier apologized for the delay of curbside pickup though. Petco needs to be aware that there are bunch of other stores that sell the same stuff for pets. Next time I will just order at Target or Petsmart nearby where they actually do the curbside delivery. read more

I just want to say that if I could build a monument for Annalise, I would. I walked into Petco today at around 6PM to grab a few deshedding items for my dog, Lizzie. She is a golden retriever mixed with a lab. Lizzie gets very excited whenever she goes to new environments and sees new people, so she was slipping and sliding on the smooth floor trying to run around and explore. Annalise noticed us soon after and asked if I needed help finding anything. This was maybe my third time at this location so I had a general idea of where everything was, so I declined and let her know if I needed anything else. While I was doing my shopping, Lizzie was trying to bark and pull me to another aisle so she could sniff around. Annalise visited me again and commented on how cute Lizzie was, and said that she noticed Lizzie's leash was only holding her collar and not her harness. I explained that when she gets too excited, she tends to slip right out of her harness and I wasn't too sure what to do. She then proceeded to introduce me to a new harness that helped me guide lizzie better, and even showed me how to better walk her and stop her from barking so much. She also noticed how much lizzie was shedding, and introduced me to the undercoat brushes. I have learned so much about taking care of Lizzie today than I have learned in the four months that I've had her. I am very appreciative of Annalise's help. In my opinion, she went above and beyond when it came to helping me. read more

I usually go to the Petco in Pearl City for dog food and the bark bar cookies. However the bark bar there has been having low or zero stock and my puppers cannot go without their good bye cookies in the morning when I go to work. I stopped by here on my way to Target to pick up an online order to check on their inventory and was surprised to see a fully stocked cookie bar. My dogs love the duplex cookies (the ones that look like Oreos) so I bought 3 trays in case they run out again. I usually check out the dog and cat food sales as well but I didn't have time on this day. The store also offers a 10% discount currently if you place an online order. I went into Petco looking for a dog toy for our puppy and diapers for our senior dog who has incontinence. The store was neat and I love that people bring their dogs when they shop. It is part of my enjoyment when I go to Petco. The aisles are well labled and I did not have trouble finding what I was looking for. I found the diapers and felt that they were a little on the pricey side. I have found dog diapers for less at other locations and decided not to get them here. I then went looking at toys. I found one and went to the check out. The line was pretty long and again the toy was pricey and I just decided to put it back on the shelf and go to my next destination. I made a grooming appt on the PETCO app a week before my appt date. The day before my appt they text me and say I need to reschedule my appt because they don't do appts at 4:30pm. Even though their app lets you make an appt that late. They said I need either bring my dog in at 12pm or 1pm. Not everyone is home at that time. Why let your app make 4:30 if you don't take 430 appts. It's so frustrating, also why would you call the day before to reschedule? read more

For the Grooming Team! Jada was so cute and attentive when I was telling her about my pup. I came to drop off Koda on 02/26/2021 at 8am as I needed her away from the house while some contactors did repairs and servicing. I let Jada know that our pup was hardheaded and did not like her nails touched (sigh, am I the only one with this issue?). She told me not to worry and that she'll think of something. Fast forward an hour later and Jada calls to let me know Koda is ready for pickup. My pup is usually not in a good mood when I take her, but for some reason she really took to Jada. She wasn't able to do Koda's nails, but she let me know that she brushed my pup's teeth instead since she wasn't able to cut her nails. I actually really appreciated this and thought it was extremely thoughtful. My dog looked happy and that was a plus! Hoping to get Jada next time for my pup. read more

I don't know what happened to the groomers here. They used to be amazing but my last experience was terrible. My dogs were originally scheduled for Wednesday and the day of I got a test message about two hours beforehand telling me my appointment was rescheduled for Sunday at 8am, Saturday rolls around and I get a phone call reminding me of my appointment at 12:30, when I asked what happened to 8am they told me they had rescheduled it and apologized for not telling me. Sunday rolls around and I have my dogs in the car and get halfway there and get a phone call at 12:15 saying they had to reschedule again. Finally I told them no thanks I'll find another groomer and they said "ok thank you and hung up." Again, not sure what's going on there but if you don't want my business just tell me next time instead of jerking me around for multiple reschedules and cancellations. read more

Horrible customer service and both girls lied to me. Tried to get my dog's nails trimmed and both girls said I had to book an appointment because of covid. Got my dog's nails trimmed here multiple times over the last year of covid and never had to make an appointment. To top it off you can't even book an appointment for just a nail trim, only for baths and haircuts. Never buying or getting any services from here. So, we went to Petco again to give it another shot. We grabbed the $25 for a private one hour class (limited time) with Kirk. Absolutely like how he takes everything into consideration. He's very helpful, lots of tips and gentle on our puppy. He also provided the treats for the training and our puppy absolutely loved it. Don't get me wrong, we love Petco, it's fantastic. They sell lots of items, different varieties and lots of discounts! Be sure to get that rewards in. I got $5 discount from buying so many toys for my puppy. Also, don't forget that they do price match on their app. Most likely, the price on the app is much cheaper and they honor this. We are a happy customer. The day of 3/17/24 was my first visit ever to a Petco store. When we first walked in of course we were greeted, and was offered help by an associate but we informed her that we were just looking around. My family and I ended up purchasing a Guinea Pig. The girl that helped us was Brook she was actually a cashier. She was great, nice, friendly, professional. There was another lady Nicole that also came to handle the paper work and relayed some information to us in regards to the Guinea Pig and if we were to have multiples what we could expect. She also informed us about the return policy and had told us that any Petco location could accept the Guinea Pig as long as they have space for it. Our experience that day was great. We actually ended up purchasing another Guinea Pig at a different store (after) that very same day which we ended up with three total. At the end of the night my husband and I decided that we only wanted two (I will exclude my reasons) Now fast forward to the next day, I thought my morning of returning the Guinea Pig was going to be a breeze. I stopped at the nearest location (Waikele Petco) and the associate working told me that they cannot accept the return because they don't have any habitat for it and that the store I purchased it from should have told me that. So I thanked her and left. I went to another location (Pearl City) and the associate there had also told me that the Guinea Pig would have to be returned to the store it was purchased from, the KAPOLEI store should have told me that and that the KAPOLEI store has a history of misleading their customers. So yes, I began to get annoyed because I had my four little children with me as well. So off we went to the KAPOLEI store and at first I was glad to see the same associate NICOLE working at the register. Let me tell you she was not too friendly that morning and I am going to guess it was because I came to do a return. I told her how we ended up buying another Guinea Pig after we left their store and that we decided to keep two instead of three Piggies. She tells me "well yeah, with all your little troopers (kids), you don't need anymore babies." She was not friendly AT ALL during the return process, even after telling her thank you, she didn't bother to say anything back to me. I mean she could have at least put a fake smile on her grumpy face. I hope she does not hold a position there (supervisor, manager) because she is FRICKEN TERRIBLE. Took my baby Rylee Jaxx to the groomer to get a basic bath with a few upgrades and had a really great experience! Rylee was groomed by Ray! Ray seemed to be super caring and kind. I was really happy with how Ray informed me of each portion of the grooming, when I picked up Rylee. Including how Rylee did during her time there. This is for the groomers. Took my two corgis in for the first time in a while to get their nails trimmed. I usually do them myself but this past week they fought me so much. So we took them in around 10:30. It was busy inside but the grooming area was pretty empty. We checked in which was Easy. And one groomer came out to take my Stitch in. He's not good with new people but she was so calm, and did what I would do at work with my special needs kids. Then they took in Scrump and that was easy, she loves going and meeting new people. Anyway they were done in about 5 minutes! That is the fastest we have ever had our dogs in and out. I'm so happy to have found a petco that has great groomers! Stitch took a little longer but he didn't seem to fight her as much. I'm so thankful for how much they love their job. I'll definitely be bringing them back for a nail day again! read more

Short hand on cashier. Other thing cashier need to know is that when you short hand on cashier, you need to CUT DOWN on talking to customers too long. Your talking keep customers waiting in line longer. Customers we don't have time to stand there and what you talking to other customers while you ring them up. You can ask someone to help customers on the side and keep the line moving faster. I come in and want to buy some fish and why is the employee always asking how many fish I want to buy when they not even catch the first one I want. Petco is my go-to place for my dog's needs. I went there yesterday to get some treats for him and also to get some help with a Petco account issue. I was lucky enough to get Elijah to help me. He listened patiently to my problem, read the paperwork I had brought with me, and called the main office to straighten things out. He was so kind, friendly, and took so much time to sort it all out for me. The store was extremely busy but he helped me without making me feel rushed and went the extra mile so I got the result I needed. Elijah is a credit to Petco and will keep me coming back to the store. Now if Petco would stock more dog treats with a low k-cal number (2 to 5 kcal each) I will be a very happy dog mom with a happy dog (who needs to keep his treat protein down as he has kidney problems). GROOMING! You know what, I am so sorry this took me so long to write! But let me tell you. I love Nikki and Nicole! They both cut my dog Bailey's hair and idk why but they always gets it absolutely perfect. Sometimes I have to get Bailey an ASAP appt so I'll do a same day walk in but no one gets it like they do. Today I had an appt booked (cut and bath) with Nikki and Rayy helped me upgrade to the new package with the upgraded shampoo and nail buffing. Bailey looks and feels so soft and smells so nice. Her face is trimmed and she got a cute little lion tail!
