I would give. A zero if I could but here's my story I was going to Petco for a grooming appointment/quick purchase/vet visit and had a genuinely awful experience. From the start, the customer service was lacking. The {cashier/receptionist} was {rude/uninterested/chatting with coworkers} and barely acknowledged me, making me feel like an inconvenience. The grooming service was a disaster. I specifically asked for a {small trim/specific cut}, but my dog came back {completely shaved/looking terrible} and they tried to charge extra, saying he was 'difficult'. It was clear the groomer was {rushed/inexperienced/rough}, and I'm concerned about how they handled my pet. I've also had issues with [mention a separate problem, e.g., "ordering online, with orders consistently messed up" or "buying fish that were sick and died quickly"]. I've brought both my cats here & most recently my baby Sadie to fit her for a new harness and collar and other accessories! We loved the experience we had with each member of staff as we walked around, we were shown pictures of the staff members puppies that looked identical to my baby girl. & without hesitation one amazing woman came up and immediately sized my dog for her harness and it was a perfect fit first try and wore it out of the store! read more

Took my doodle here for the first time to a grooming appointment with Emily. She seemed to be nice. However, later on that day while at home I noticed our pup kept licking himself. More than usual. My hubby looked and he had some sort of cut. I was going to think nothing of it. The next morning I decided to call and asked for Emily. She wasn't in yet so I explained to management what was happening and they suggested I bring him into the vet which I did. Very nice ppl by the way. Jeremiah the store manager apologized and offered to refund my grooming. Totally shocked by this because I wasn't expecting a full refund whatsoever. Emily did a great cut but I just wish she would've not kept it a secret that my pup was injured. Maybe she didn't realize. Idk. However, shout out to Jeremiah for his amazing customer service. My Great Pyrenees coated has been ruined and my dog skin is burned in many places The burns are at the point I will have to go to vet today They should now you cannot shave a double coated dog I paid for bath and haircut to get a clean and even hair + paid for the fur deshedding deluxe and I was told 15 more because the size One stylist worker there told the stylist for my dog that my dog required to be shaved on the back and some spots under the ears .. he even said rest of the coat was okay and with the deshedding treatment he was to be perfect But instead the lady shaved ALL his hair and most critical .. he burned him in so many places We arrived at 8 am and I was calling after 12 pm because not getting called to pick up my dog and no one was answering. She said this was to take around 3-4 hours So by 2 pm we decided to go and realized they may have not called before waiting for the dog to get the burns better and the dog to be less stressed They even said they couldn't cut the nails because dog was stressed but of course after all burns .. how you will behave .. When we picked up the dog we were in shock but didn't realized it was so bad until getting home and realized he was very burned to the point I have to go to vet today My son who is the owner but out of the city right now asked us how we let that to happen we were 2 seniors bringing the dog to groom by professionals The dog barely slept and we read his coat will never be same Because double coated dogs can't be shaved I was assuming they were having a trained people I will talk to the manager -Richard - today This is not acceptable and hope this review help other dogs read more

Ugh I try to go to PetSmart as much as I can just to avoid going to this Petco. The store is totally fine and the selections are pretty good, but everything changes for me when I get to the checkout line. There's no need for me to pay monthly for their membership subscription thing, but the cashiers give me their speech every single time even when I tell them I don't want it. I even tried curbside pickup just to avoid that interaction. Through their app (which feels a bit disjointed itself) I was able to specify the color, make & model of my car, and was able to alert the store when I was on my way and when I had arrived. I literally clicked the "I'm here" button and the app told me my order would be out shortly. After some time passed, the app told me I could "remind the store" so I clicked that button. More time passed and my husband got fed up and went in. There he found Drew and asked about the status of our order. When he explained that we ordered ahead and had already clicked "Im here" Drew looked at my husband and said "that just tells us you're here, we don't even know your order or what car to bring it to". That feels like BS considering the app required I input that information. Sorry for the TLDR, we will never come here again. read more

We live in Aubrey and bring our Aussie Cattle Dog here every 3 months or so for a bath and brush. We love it! The staff has always been kind and attentive to us even though they stay very busy. The past few visits we've scheduled our grooming appointments with Lauren and she's wonderful! She's such a sweetie and does a great job with our pup. We pick the shed release plus package and it makes such a difference. Our pup always comes out looking great. Very thankful! read more

I do not write long reviews but this place just finally made me do it.. Please save yourself the stress of bringing your dog to get groomed here. First, I always have to correct the #, they never bother to correct it. I had an appt at 2:30 Kayla was always so sweet and tells us the approximate wait time. This time I called because it was getting closer to 6:00pm, the girl who answered seemed standoffish, and said "they just started on him" and I got the impression she felt I was rushing them. So I apologized and said ok no rush just checking on him. When my husband goes to pick up our dog, this younger girl with long blonde hair and pale skin gave him attitude about how they try to have "the pet parents here by 6pm" how is our appt at 2:30pm but he is seen closer to 6pm and we get attitude for not being there before they close because they don't want to wait another minute, since it's their fault we're picking him up late in the first place!!! Kayla is the best but honestly, this isn't the first time we have a bad experience here. (Not her fault obv) she made our experience better, after they give you so many reasons to never return. Took my dogs for grooming on Saturday to pick them both up with red inflamed bottoms and my male Goldendoodle has lacerations towards the back of his genitals. Had to take them to the vet who confirmed they were burned from the clippers being too hot. WTF!!!!! Management will reimburse me my $225 plus the $70 vet bill. Went here once, and never again. My wife and I are first time pet owners, and we came in for a consultation on cost for getting our dog spay. Not once we're we made aware of any cost. Once the consultation was done, we walked out and they wished us a good day. not two minutes later did we receive several phone calls saying we just walked out without paying. One of the phone calls was from the vet, Dr. Vogue (I think that's his name) himself saying we have 24 hours to pay or they will "pursue legal action" against my wife and I. Next time, make sure your customers are aware of a cost. (not once whether on the phone before hand or in person we're we made aware) As I said, my wife and I are first time dog owners and we didn't know it would cost us $61 just to weight our dog and tell us how much spaying would cost. We were going to go with the service here, but the vet threatening legal action against someone within 2 minutes of them walking out the door tends to make them lean differently. read more

Mom and I came here to purchase two red ear sliders and was super stoked about it. Called over this employee named " Valero" a 5'3 ish long brunette hair Caucasian female. I asked her kindly to help me pick out two red ear slider and the first question she popped out of her mouth was " how big is the habitat" and I said and measured out the tank and I replied with " this size of a tank" her response was " turtle doesn't live in tanks".... Yes I am aware. I am a reptile lover, and I was just saying it's that size of a space. Her tone was off and rude and sounded like she had no interest helping me pick out two red ears. I told her I've had my red ear for 7 years and I know all the things and routine for it... let alone a " tank". She then proceed to ask me all these questions about water filter, cycler, water temperature, UV light and heating light temperature. She asked me what temperature and setting of the filter was.. and I said my dad manages I'm sorry I don't know the numbers on the top of my head. It was like an exam to get in Harvard about red ear sliders. This conversation was back and forth we for 20 minutes. I had no idea it was this much pain to get a pet I've owned for half my life. I am very confused... angry and upset this happened. I absolutely understand that these animals need to be in an environment safe at home but Valero this lady was just absolutely the worst. She was in no interest, racist, and could not stop picking at things I said. She was very racist towards my mom and I we are both Chinese American and my mom had broken English. I don't understand why she did the way she did but she took her position too serious and was so interested as to what I didn't know. I'm sorry I am learning, we learn something new everyday sorry I didn't know what a toy was called. And she then proceeded to show me this stand where turtles can come up above water. Yes I am aware, yes I have that... it may not look exactly like that... but I do have it and have a lot of it. Thank you, will never come back to this place. Seems to be a pretty new store, and I stopped by here one night on my way home from work because we were out of dog food and the puppies were hungry. The store is surprisingly small on the inside, which is strange because it looks huge from the outside. Once you're inside it's really clean, and picked up, but nothing seems to be placed in a logical space. (i.e. the dog food was in one place, but dog treats were over by fish??). They also didn't have very many options, again, it's so small on the inside!! The people working there were super nice and the guy that helped me find the dog treats didn't seem irritated at all, and was very helpful, and the girl at the register was very nice and asked me about my dogs and actually complimented/thanked me for working with a rescue organization. Definitely employee attitude gave it a 3rd store, but currently the place needs to be organized a little better before it moves up on the pet store list. read more

Took my dog here for grooming simply because my usual groomer was booked through June. Asked for a bath, deshedding and nail trim. Got a call 45 minutes after dropping her off advising they couldn't finish her groom because she "bit" at the girl when her head was being washed. In 7 years of my dog being groomed she has never had this happen. Only feedback about how good and friendly she is. And I have used multiple groomers over the years. (7 years of grooming history!!) she even receives "blueberry facials" at her current groomer with no problem at all! In fact her head is her favorite place for pets and scratches. When I picked her up she was soaked, shaking and nervous. (They made me walk back into the stacked kennel area to pick her up from the cage). The girl pulled her out to attempt To "dry her with some towels" and my dog didn't turn her head or snap or even look at her. No signs of aggression whatsoever. All she wanted was to get to the door to leave. Seems odd if she was biting people not 15 minutes earlier? I don't know what they do to these dogs but I will never go here again. Better to wait for quality over a quick fix. read more

Don't use the grooming service unless you want a shave. But be prepared to pay a $20 upcharge (there are misc. charges at the register that you don't know about until you get there) for that. There are people there who know breed standard cuts but in general, they want to shave the dog down. No skill is needed for that. I took my dogs and I'll just do it myself. It's not hard, just messy to do at home. If you have a schnauzer and can't get a good cut, look me up. I won't charge $80 like these posers. SMH. read more

I went to the vet for an appt. and stood there for a while, a caucasian male employee walked in, he saw me standing there and not once did he ask me if anyone was asissting me, he walked out the vet area and I contunued to stand there for a few more minutes. Took my dog to get his nails cut. The groomer cracked his nail within the first 10 seconds. After that they couldn't stop the bleeding and the dog was obviously in some pain, was not cooperative and snarled and showed his teeth to the groomer. This dog has had a vet cutting his nails for years with no issue. The groomer comes out of the room and says to me is "You can't bring the dog back here anymore, he was very "Nasty". I just said, "Don't worry I wont". The dog had to see their vet and we had to wait an hour for her to get there. Never again. read more

Scattered and a mess. The animals here don't seem to be getting proper care, especially the aquatic department. My 9 y/o noticed several dead fish in one of the tanks. They looked like they had been there for quite some time and the living fish were eatting the carcasses of the dead. I get that they won't all make it but at least clean the tank of the dead. The whole store had unattended carts with supplies and chemicals on them. The aquatics section also had a hose running through it and there didn't seem to be an employee in sight. When one finally did show up and I mentioned the amount of dead fish in one of the tanks she just said, " yeah, it happens" read more

The people are nice but the quality of the grooming service is hit or miss. After paying almost $100 (including tip) they did not groom my dog's nails, bathed him with a shampoo that dried his skin out (I was adamant they use, was charged for, a hydrating shampoo), did not express his glands and he was shedding worse (after the supposed shedding treatment I paid for) after I picked him up than before the drop off. If you insist on taking your sweet boy/girl here for grooming, please make sure you check your pet received the requested services BEFORE you pay./ read more

Awful! The grooming experience today has me leaving this place for good. I was not convinced why an extra $5 was placed on the account for handling charges. All I heard were excuses why his legs could not be shaves or his nails could not be buffed. How aggressive he gets. I have a small terrier mixed breed, playful 3 year old who has been getting groomed for 2 years. If you don't have a tiny dog, run, run, run as far away from this grooming place as possible. read more

Shout out to Dr. Paul, Shelby, and Amber--for exemplary customer service at the Vetco clinic. Amber worked the front desk when we were there. She was super friendly and professional at check-in and check-out, and offered my fur baby a variety of treats to please her. You can tell she loves her job. I scheduled my appointment with Shelby. He lovingly carried my senior pet to the back for her examination. I'm so grateful for him because that simple kindness calmed my Terrier's nerves a great deal. Dr. Paul has many years of experience as a shelter vet who has seen it all. She is equal parts knowledge and kindness. She is a gentle soul, full of compassion for her patients. These three make this Vetco location a truly healing place to be. Highly recommend!! read more

This place ruined my dogs coat and made him look hideous. My sister took him in to be groomed and asked for a sanitary trim. The groomer was insistent that he needed his whole body shaved but my sister told them to absolutely not do that because it would ruin his coat. She left and got a call back saying that they HAD to shave him or they couldn't do anything. My sister tried to call them back multiple times to tell them not to but they didn't answer. By the time we were finally able to get in contact and tell them we didn't want them to do that, they had already shaved his entire body. We have gotten him groomed when he was matted worse and the groomer was competent enough to still groom him without shaving him bald in the middle of winter. They shaved his hair with what looks like a 10 blade, what we used to use in my vet clinic for medical trims, NOT for grooming purposes. The cut is extremely short and poorly done. He looks like a rat. He was not bathed and still has all the mattes around his ears that he had when he was dropped off. The bottom of his paw pads were not trimmed so he cannot walk properly. The one part that we asked to be shaved, his butt, is terribly done and has longer fur than the rest of his body. He has chunks of long hair everywhere. He was a gorgeous alaskan malamute and now his fur may never grow back the same because an under qualified groomer fully shaved my dog. Any groomer with any sort of qualifications would know that you are NEVER supposed to shave a malamute because a) their top and bottom coat will likely never grow back the same and b) they are much more susceptible to sunburns and subsequently certain types of cancers afterwards. If you still decide to take your dog here after reading this, do NOT listen to their pushy "advice" on what's best for your dogs coat, do your own research, because these groomers have NO IDEA what is best for your dog. read more

This is in regards to the grooming at Petco. I have a puppy and wanted to take him in for his second haircut ever (his first haircut was at another Petco so I thought this one would be fine), we walked in on a Saturday and it was extremely busy we walked up to the desk for grooming which was just a small desk no private area like other petco's. There was a woman (who was going to be my dogs groomer) and a man that was behind the desk I explained to them this is his second haircut so he is nervous on top of that the place was busy and lots of other dogs were there so being a young puppy (under one year) my dog was barking. The groomer tried to come over and my dog hid behind us and was scared and growling I tried to calm him down and the man behind the counter was like no were not taking him he seems dangerous (my dog is 7 lbs Yorkie mix). I couldn't believe that he didn't understand he was a puppy and this was only his second time getting a haircut they completely refused to take him or even trim his nails. We left and will not return to Petco. I took my 7 lbs "dangerous" puppy to a local groomer in the area they were so nice groomed and took care of my dog and treated him as if he was their own. He got groomed and bathed and was treated so well. I guess it was my dogs intuition that Petco workers don't care about pets I will forever be going to my local groomer and buy my dog food and toys from other retailers and I choose not to do business with Petco in any matter. I have been to a lot of pet stores, but this one has to be - low on the big list. - Let me explain This is a pretty new store out here and I realize that when you open a new store its not going to run super smooth... but after umm... 4-6 months, you need to get it together. The girls running the registers are very nice, but nothing is ever priced and if it is its priced wrong so they are having to stumble around to get the correct information. And the thing I find appalling, is how those groomers treat the dogs they are working on. I have been in their many times and those women are so unhappy, they never smile, they are yanking and pulling and being very ruff with those poor dogs. I wouldn't dare drop my two dogs off there to be groomed... EVER. read more

The location of this Petco is what keeps me coming back - it definitely is not the experience. I visit this store several times a month to buy crickets for my daughters geckos. This is my routine I've kept for months and here are my likes and dislikes about the place: What I like: - One time I met an employee there who knew something about Geckos - Did I mention the location? - They sell lizard food. - I realize this is a desperate list of things I like. I'm trying to be avoid being all negative. Work with me, Yelpers :) What I don't like: - The attentiveness of the staff. In 6 months of regular shopping here, there was only 1 time I can remember not having to stand in line to ask someone to page someone to help me get crickets. I don't know if they are under staffed, or hiding, but I always have to have them paged. - The talent. Only 1 time have I met an employee there who was enthusiastic about the geckos when I asked a question. Do they hire the right kind of people here? - The checkout process. The checkout line seems to be the first and only place people can talk to Petco about their pets. This means everyone ends up waiting while the 5-6 people in front of us jaw on about their pets and how they like food and other important topics everyone wants to know about. Look here Petco, people with lizards and other carnivores have to be in the store quite a bit. You should make it easy to get in and out. Nobody wants to stand in line. If there was another pet store nearby I would have already given up and started shopping there. read more

This Petco is in about the most perfect location and is close to my house. The service is generally very helpful and the staff is friendly. I also love to see the kitties up for adoption. I always appreciate that Petco isn't a puppy or kitty mill and they have adoption events nearly every weekend. Most every food brand is in stock and they also have a selection of toys and accessories. Probably the only downside is how busy the store gets compared to others, such as the locations at Custer and Eldorado and Preston and 121 I have not used the vet or the grooming services, so I cannot comment on either of them. read more

Went in to get my female bulldog a dress or something cute for the 4th of July and they didn't have her size but we found her something cute in pink. There was one associate I think his name was JR that helped us with tips sand info on other things bulldog related. We had our pup with us too so I like how he interacted with her. I definitely prefer Petco over Petsmart bc they offer rewards points however this location does not have the treat bar that I've seen at other locations. read more
