This was my first time using the curbside pickup option at this Petco location. I wasn't in a rush and actually appreciated the chance to multitask some weekend errands and planning while waiting in the parking lot. After about 20 minutes passed, I realized no one had come out with my order--even though I had checked in through the app and pressed the alert button a few times. I eventually went inside and was told by a staff member that their store doesn't actually receive app notifications for curbside pickups. While I understand that tech can be finicky, this is something that should really be addressed by management. If the system isn't functional, it shouldn't be promoted as an available service. It sets the wrong expectation and could lead to ongoing frustration for customers. Hopefully this gets looked into, as it's an easy fix that could really improve the experience. read more

We just adopted a 9 week old puppy and have gone to this Petco for all of our needs! We have very new to owning a puppy, but the staff has all provided excellent service and given super helpful tips! Each trip we have taken, we ask a new staff member questions and have never had a bad experience or answer. They are all willing to help! Will are excited to try out their pet courses for training and socialization once our puppy meets the vaccination requirements. Would recommend! read more

Seriously annoying woman at checkout. Nags condescendingly about signing up for their "program" when you don't want to give them your phone number. When you don't want a receipt, she condescendingly reminds you that you can't return your items, then reminds you AGAIN when you leave that you don't have a receipt and can't return things. She has done this on two separate occasions when I have visited the store. This behavior is unfriendly and uncalled for. read more

On Saturday i went to take Bryson Jax to his grooming appointment at the Fridley, Petco. I get there and the first mistake is asking me for his pet records. The reason why i say it's a mistake is because he they did all of his shots there. At that location‼ and they just emailed me the day before letting me know his next one needs to be before 6/3. So why ain't yall records together??? The 2nd mistake‼ They have my puppy labeled as aggressive in their system "because when other dogs are around he gets too excited". Ummm duh he's a puppy‼ but excited and aggressive are very much two different things. She proceeds to tell me that she doesn't feel comfortable however, she will groom his private area. Which took all of one minutes and he didn't give her not one problem. I couldn't even take ten steps to the register to pay for the service before she was done. (MAAM IF YOU DIDNT WANT GROOM MY PUPPY I WOULD HAVE RATHER YOU SAY THAT). I told my friends and family this and they all busted out laughing because everybody know he's not an aggressive at all. We have been taking our lab Rottweiler mix here for grooming the past year. I love being able to make an appointment online quickly and the text updates. I suggest always making an appointment versus walking in. There was a time I needed just a nail clipping for her and was unable to do it by just walking in because there wasn't enough groomers. The staff is very friendly and do a great job. I'm never surprised by the pricing because they make sure to tell you beforehand. If you go so many times you can even earn a free grooming session via email. I prefer to do weekday mornings since that seems to be a lot quicker and less busy versus a weekend. To have my dog get a bath, nails clipped and teeth cleaned it's usually an hour sometimes a few minutes less or more. Definitely recommend the Fridley Petco. read more

I always bring my girl here to get her nails trim, and i always get Alejandra. she's nice, and sweet with her. this time i got jack, never seen him before and before i even gave my girl to him, he seemed very.. nervous? maybe just awkward? but anyways. i did notice he was having a struggle with her front paw but everything was normal. get home and i notice there is blood on the blanket and look at her back paw, and he had nipped her quick i did call and i spoke with Alejandra and she did give me a refund. if you go, ask for her or anyone else. sorry, but i don't want anyone else's dog to get hurt. read more

The grooming salon is wonderful. We walked in hoping to get our pup's nails clipped and Jasmine was wonderful. I had forgotten his vaccination papers (you should definitely bring them) and jasmine called our vet to confirm Milo had his vaccines. He was really nervous and jasmine was patient and gentle. As always, this petco remains a prime example of poor animal husbandry and lack of necessary supplies and equipment for the animals being sold. They have a beautiful selection of crested geckos that are desperately dehydrated and one has a mouth infection, so you the customer can have the fun of a vet visit. I also love that they have more iguanas than you can shake a stick at and that they don't even sell an appropriately sized enclosure for one. Such an educational visit. read more

We take our dog here for nail trimming and baths. The ladies here that take care of him have always been so helpful and friendly. He is so clean and soft after his appointments. It can take anywhere from an hour to two. The last time we dropped him off at 10:45 am and we got a call at noon that he was already done. Price is based on size/breed of the dog and the services you get. We do the "Full Bath" which is a bath with natural shampoo, blow dry, 15-minute brush-out, ear cleaning, nail trim, gland expression and scented spritz.Tipping is optional, but we always leave one.They send home a little bag of dog treats for free which I think is a nice touch. Good service and friendly people! I definitely would recommend to anyone looking for services that are done well for a reasonable cost. read more

I'm not coming back. The woman at the grooming center didn't even seem like she was a dog lover. She was super rude and unhelpful. She rushed through the entire procedure -- a few swipes for the teeth brushing, the 15 minute grooming was about 5 minutes of brushing my pup's fur. She barely filed my pup's nails. Rushed through the entire thing so that she could sit at her desk again. The cashier people didn't know what they were doing and kept getting confused. Wasted my money taking my pup here. All the review responses on here are similar and clearly no changes at the store. read more

I was not very pleased after my experience at the grooming salon here. Apparently they didn't have my phone number so I had to call to find out if my dog was finished. This is odd for a couple of reasons, the first is that I am sure I gave it to them when I made the appointment, I believe that is how they looked up my dog in the system. The second thing that makes it odd is that they claimed they called my mom... how they got that number I don't know, plus my mom didn't contact me to say they had called her. Beyond that I really don't like the cut she got. I guess I should have been more specific about what I wanted but I asked for a breed specific cut, which is what I have always done everywhere I've taken my dog, and what she ended up with doesn't look anything like the normal breed cut. I also question how well they bathed her because she had a fair amount of gunk around her eye when I picked her up and her "beard" is usually totally clear after a bath, but still had some stains on it this time. And she reeks of that finishing spray they spritz on dogs at the end... it's supposed to be a mist but I can smell her in the next room. She smells like someone spilled a bottle of cheap cologne on her! I definitely won't be coming back here any time soon. My dog didn't seem stressed or unhappy when I picked her up but for over $70 I expect a little more. And thank goodness there wasn't an emergency and they didn't have my number!! read more

I have been going to Petco in Fridley for 20 years. This place is like home to all my pets. They love to go shopping there, they know the store by name. I have purchased food, treats, toys there. It's like a holiday when we go. Kim is my groomer and knows what to do with my Boston's (MY FLOWER GIRLS DAISY AND ROSIE) They love her. When she groomed my cats she allowed me to assist until the end (0ver 18 years). I have some health issues and need a cane to walk. Kim helps me get the girls into the salon and arranges for an escort to my car. Kim cares for my dogs and I feel other animal also. I would not go any where else read more

I have been bringing my dog Reese to Petco in Fridley since she was a puppy. We went to puppy playtime and took a couple of training classes. I bring her there a couple times a month, they cut and grind her nails! They are always are kind, helpful and she likes them! We have also have used the tub for a bath, love it! read more

I was greeted by a friendly employee working in the front end. She's always friendly when I shop here. For customer service here is a hit or miss every time I shop here. The vibe I get in the store is never good. I have a mix of good and horrible experience with some employees at this store. I assume people in the red shirt are management? Horrible! stops having a personal conversation the other employee and walks into the office when you see me walking up, looked at me in the eyes too. I work retail for 12 years in management. I know the games lazy managers do. They know all the rules to the book but are lazy and only know how to boss people around sitting in the office as if they are so busy but can't get down on their hands and knees to do the job right themselves. I wouldn't even bother to waste my time asking, waiting and looking for help if self serve catching fishes myself was an option. There's a couple people in this store who has good customer service and work ethic. But they wouldn't stay here long I'd guess. I wouldn't make this store a place I'll shop frequent. Why help this store location meet their sales goals. I rather go to another petco or store for better services. Not all petco are created equal. I sense the drama with the employees in this store. We come here to get our dog groomed and they do a fantastic job. They are a little spendy (at least to us...we get the doggy trim plus the add on for $22 where you get 3 additional services). After tip and everything this comes out to close to $100, but to us it is worth it. The 3 additional services we get are the moisturizing conditioning treatment, the blueberry facial to help reduce tear stains, and then for the 3rd we usually alternate between a dental or another option. Our little dog doesn't like to sit still much for grooming, conditioning treatments etc so I do what I can at home but this is why we like to bring him to a groomer who has all the equipment. The first time after we got him groomed at Petco his fur was so soft, and most importantly, the itchy spot on his back that he always used to chew on went away! I use a nice oatmeal and aloe doggy shampoo with him at home, but the conditioning treatment at Petco works wonders! Also we just enjoy the store in general and we come in regularly to pick up bull sticks and pet food for our furbaby. They may be a bit more expensive than say, going to Walmart or somewhere but I think the quality and selection of items for our pet is well worth it. read more

Moved to new area and took shih tzu puppy in for just a trim but when we picked up our puppy he was shaved with the only explanation is that his hair was now considered "medium" length. This was totally unacceptable as it was stated before the service what was wanted. Will never use Petco's grooming services or shop there again! read more

Choose PetSmart over Petco if you want a satisfactory visit & friendly staff. I wanted to ask the man at the register, "Excuse me, may I please bother you for a moment?" He brushed me off quickly, I was trying to return 2 clothing items for my dog; tags still on but no receipt. All I wanted was store credit; no, I was told. I called & after two attempts, finally got connected to a manager. She told me I could return the items but I'd have to get store credit. That, I told her, is what I was trying to do. She repeated, again, I could not get money back. I told her again all I wanted was store credit but a cashier said no. She said she'd do the return. I asked how long will she be there; four mins was the answer. So. tomorrow I'll have to go to the store sometime before 9 and look for a snarky manager. After I get this settled, Petco will not get my business. I will be going to PetSmart in the Quarry, even though it's a longer drive. They put the customer & his/her pet first. read more

I normally visit on weekday evenings, and the staff is always very pleasant & helpful. I love seeing a store with associates who actually smile and enjoy what they do! Prices are reasonable--about what you'd expect in a pet specialty store. Good selection of natural/holistic foods for cats & dogs. Aquatics section always looks clean & healthy. I love that they partner with local rescues (cat, dog, rabbit) to help adopt out/aid animals in need. There are often small animals (guinea pigs, hamsters, etc...) up for adoption as well as the typical pets that are for sale. This store is clean, well-organized, and easy to shop. And, importantly, employees are genuinely concerned about the welfare of the animals in their care as well as their customer's pet families. You don't see that in every pet store! read more

My husband and I have an adorable 4 month old Coton De Tulear puppy who is afraid of EVERYTHING. We caught wind of a FREE puppy play time that takes place every Sunday at 2:00pm. What is special about the PetCo in Fridley is that they have a half hour of play time designated for puppies under 20 lbs and then another half hour for puppies over 20 lbs. Given our puppy's tendency to shy away from every other dog that comes within 5 ft of him, we did not want to pay a ton of money for a play time that would just leave our puppy terrified. The first Sunday that we took our puppy to the free play time we were greeted by a very friendly dog trainer (her name currently escapes me). Once she checked our vet records and determined that our puppy was up to date on all of his shots, we were immediately welcomed into the play pen. It did not take long for the trainer to notice how shy our puppy was in comparison to the rest of the pack. What happened next is what makes me give this PetCo a 5 stars. The trainer spent a good portion of the 30 minutes working with our puppy to help him feel more comfortable in the new environment. It astounded us that the trainer would actually take the time to personally help train our puppy during a FREE session. It shows us how much the trainer really cares about the dogs and not just about helping the store's bottom line. Even though my husband and I live in downtown Minneapolis, we have continued to get in the car every Sunday to visit this PetCo in Fridley. Surprisingly, every Sunday the trainer still takes the time to love on our puppy during the play session and we are happy to say that he is making leaps and bounds and finally starting to play with other puppies. Thank you to the sweet red headed dog trainer in Fridley that has truly made a difference in our young puppies life! Side note: Since discovering the Fridley PetCo, we have attended several other puppy play sessions at other PetCo's throughout the Twin Cities and have yet to find another store and trainer that has come close to our experience here. read more

I had an appointment for 2:00 for my little dog. When I dropped him off, I was told it would be 2 hours. I came back after the 2 hours and was told he wasn't ready yet, was still in a kennel drying off (what happened to the blow dry?), and that I should have been told that it would be 3 hours. I came back at 5:00, and they had just started his haircut! Finally got out of there at 5:45. Why would it take almost 4 hours to groom a 11 pound dog? And not even a good job at that. I give this Petco location no stars. When I first arrived, I was told that I supposedly did not set my appointment and I had to reschedule and come back. For the convenience, they offered me a free bath and 25% off. The next time I came in, the same groomer whom I spoke to before had bad customer service. You could tell she was not happy to be at work and not happy with her job. When I came back to pick up my dog, he looked fine. Though a couple hours later and a few days, I started noticing him biting and licking his paws, scratching himself a lot more, and always putting up his back right leg. Curious as I am, I started to search around his body. I found a large red spot on his chest (you could tell that was from the buzzer), newly scabs in his ear, by his eye, inside of his paws, and on his bum. I'm sad, disappointed, and super furious. A trained groomer should not have these issues. I will never come back there. read more

I have been plannig and getting aquarium ready for fish. I went to petco. I wandered and browsed the fish til I knew the 3 cichlids I liked. Waited,waited waived my arms or the cashier and the waitied some more and finallyfor a young lady who was able ton answer all of my questions which was nice. However, she couldn't scoop fish out of the tank for nothing , she was flipping rocks that we're landing on other fish, complaining about how long it was going to to mention when I got home only 1 of the fish was one I picked. As a matter of fact all three fish with exact same fish. When I got home one fish was dead in the bag with a cut behind the Gill. Obvious to me because the girl is throwing the rocks on the tank like she was. I wasn't given a receipt at the register so I can't even prove that I paid for these fish or get my money back the fish that passed away. So unprofessional I wanted the three fish that I purchased not 3 drab gray fish that are always fighting amongst themselves. I think from now on I'll leave my aquarium needs to professionals not Petco read more
