I wouldn't waste your time or money having your animals groomed here. We were told when we called specifically to inquire about the time, the walk in nail clipping staff was there until 7, we walked in before 6 and were told "Oh nope that can't happen" very rudely and unprofessionally then when we said we called to check first, the response was "well obviously they went home early". Didn't offer an apology or anything. And unfortunately this wasn't the first time something like this has happened and they were rude then also. They were supposed to be open until 8 and i called repeatedly to speak to a manager and when you select to speak to a manager the voicemail isn't even set up. Clearly you guys don't really want business. We will never come back. I hope this one closes like the one in Blaine for not paying your employees. Stopped by earlier today after seeing a post online about $10 nail trims, our dogs were due for just that plus the price is great! The location is great with plenty of parking. The store itself was smaller but clean and had lots of product! First thing I noticed was it was a little chaotic, understandable for a nail trim special event, although no staff ever called out where to check in and where to check out or where to get in line for the trims. There was one groomer who was very very sweet, even stepping out of the grooming room to trim nails for a shy dog while their owner held them, they must be a regular because I overheard the owner say "see you next month again". Our little Bruce went in first and I anticipated screaming but he was really screaming. Thank goodness for the windows into the grooming room because I saw him thrashing around and immediately went over asked to step in after hearing the groomer (different one than mentioned prior) raising her voice pretty loud at my dog a few times and saying things like "stop it", "that's enough", etc. I also saw her put some powder on his toenail but she never mentioned during or after the trim if she trimmed to short or what. Once I was holding him, it went much smoother but I didn't her tone of voice with him or the limited info on the powder. My other big, shy dog was hesitant to go in but I was able to encourage him in and he did fine. He actually seemed to be doing pretty good at first, I had asked for the filing on his if he tolerated it. Although when I had stepped in to hold our small dog, Bart (our big dog) FELL OFF THE TABLE, hanging briefly by the neck holder thing! The girl doing Bruce ran over to help lift him up and he was just fine but startled. Both of their nails are pretty good, 8.5/10. I do understand the chaos of this event and a full room or barking, whining dogs. I can imagine it's not the groomers favorite day or event. I understand some level of annoyance but also expect good service at the same time. It was not bad at all, it was alright and we were able to grab a couple bones on the way out which the boys will enjoy. Not 100% sure we will come back for the nail trim as we can do it at home but need to hold them like babies and it's not ideal but we will see. This might be better for those doggies who don't really mind nail trims and you're not confident in doing them yourself. read more

I brought my dog here, and didn't love the experience. The grooming was fine, but the groomer said some off-base things that made me feel like she didn't have much experience with puppies, despite being a dog groomer. I took my 12 week old puppy here at the advice of a dog groomer friend who lives out of state. They said to acclimate her to the process early, so that's what I wanted to do. My dog has normal puppy behaviors, like biting hands and being a little bit timid at first. But she warms up quick, and she's never shown any sort of aggression towards people or dogs. The first thing the groomer said to me upon picking her up was "We have a lot to work on, she's going to have a lot of problems". At first I thought she was talking about her coat, and that I needed to do a better job of combing her, but she clarified that it was about her personality. I was stunned! She went on to say that she was a biter and that it seemed like I never socialized her. Again, she's 12 weeks so biting and socialization are both things we're working on, but of course she's not perfect yet. The groomer mentioned two nice things but only after hearing about all the things wrong with my dog. My advice to the groomer: Look up what compliment sandwich is, and incorporate it when speaking with new clients. Or just don't take on puppies if you're not used to normal puppy behaviors. I wanted to love it here because it's a locally owned small business, but unfortunately I'll be going elsewhere. read more

I took my 11 lb dog for grooming He was in terrible shape. Lots of matting on tale and ears. Thought I was going to groom him myself but I failed terribly. I'm not sure what happened while being groomed but he has been crying and not able to sit. Something has gone wrong with cleaning the anal cavity. He is a different dog. Another great grooming, cut, teeth, and gland job for one of the two dogs I have groomed at Pet Evolution. I take my dogs here for a few reasons but the biggest reason besides the fact they do an excellent job is the wall that separates the dogs from the customers is all glass so you can see exactly what's going on. Any place that has that you know you can trust. Also my dog is more excited to get out of the car then she was at the other groomer so I know they are taking good care of her. While you're in I highly recommend talking with the staff or looking at the toys. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and they have one of the best toys selections I've seen. Just wish they had more for cats. I have an appointment in a few months to go back so I'm very satisfied and couldn't recommend Pet Evolution high enough. We made an appt last minute and were happy to get our dog in for a full groom in service to include nail grinding and teeth brushing. This little shop opened up in the new strip mall area across from Starbucks and Potbelly's. It's conveniently located on Lexington Ave just off Highway 694 in Shoreview. Our dog was pretty shaggy when we brought him into the salon and he came out looking ten pounds lighter. They also have a self service dog washing area as well as three grooming stations. If you need any treats, toys, leashes, even stuff for your feline friends. Their grooming prices are shot the same as you'd pay at Petsmart or another local groomers. The staff are very friendly and took really good care of my dog. We will definitely use this shop again. read more

Yesterday, my fiancée & I took our dog here for a bath. The worker that helped us was very helpful & polite! It was around $16 for the bath. Shampoo & towels are provided. There's also a pet blow dryer! It was definitely convenient & much easier to clean our dog here, instead of using our own bathtub at home. Plus if you check in on Yelp, you get a surprise! Pet Evolution is a wonderful, cheery, helpful full service & supply pet store. small locally owned and operated, plus has the nicest friendliest staff at each location I have visited. We have utilized the Self-Service Wash station, Dog Nail Trim, we also buy our dog food and some of his supplies as well, we've been going to them for over 5 years and never have we been disappointed or left felt not taken well care of. We regularly go to the Arden Hills location & also buy dog food at the Woodbury location, when on that end of town. No matter which location we are handled professionally and with courtesy. Even over the shut down in MN they were our go to store. The staff would then bring the dog food out to the car. it's a small business with big heart and a fabulous caring and interested staff. if you're in the Northern suburbs they've opened a location or two in that area of the metro. "I brought my Goldendoodle in to be groomed yesterday and I am amazed at how knowledgeable she was. I have a hard time keeping my dog brushed out and Ive always had to just have her shaved short. This groomer took the time to show me brushes and combs to use and even spent like 10 minutes showing me how to brush her! Ive had my dog groomed for 5 years now and I have never actually had a groomer explain these things to me. She has to be taken shorter today, but now I feel like I can maintain her at home so next time that can leave the hair cut that I want. Do not take your dog to get groomed here. My friend brought her dog here and when she picked him up she discovered he was walking backwards and all out of sorts. They discovered that a groomer DROPPED HIM ON HIS HEAD. He now has severe brain damage and is not the same energetic soul he once was. He is partially blind and spends most of his days laying down. Instead of compensating for the medical bills and emotional distress they did nothing but send her through a lot of pain and obstacles because they did not want to take responsibility or even tell her what happened. They kept saying "we don't know why he's like that." She took him to a vet and they confirmed it was 100% blunt force trauma based damage to the head and spine. Do not trust this place with your fur babies. They do not care if anything happens to them, they just care about your money. The groomer is most likely still employed as well so DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Brought my golden doodle in to get groomed and was not satisfied. When dropping off dog, groomer mentioned that my dog was matted (which I knew) and she said she would have to trim back his hair to about an inch to get rid of the mats. I totally understood. When I arrived to pick up my dog he was shaved down to nothing. His armpits are shaved down to his skin and he has cut marks on his armpits. I do not understand why the groomer had to shave him down to absolutely nothing. We have brought him to other groomers with much worse matting and they have been able to work through it and not have to shave him down to nothing. Very frustrated with the amount of money I paid to get my dog groomed here. Also, my dog does not smell fresh and clean. He actually had a hint of smoke smell when I picked him up.
