I took my Great Pyrenees to Blue Ribbon Grooming in Oakdale (Deb Dunford) and was charged $346 for less than two hours of work. When I asked for an itemized receipt, Deb refused to provide one. She claimed the high price was because she hand blow dries instead of cage drying, but every reputable groomer we've used also blow dries, this is standard, not an upgrade. She washed him, blow dried, clipped nails, and did a light trim, not a full haircut. Her only justification was his size, even though she knew beforehand he was a Great Pyrenees and advertised experience with the breed. She also claimed she charged more to get him done faster, even though I explained he usually takes about 4 hours, and the most I've ever paid elsewhere was $275 (already very expensive). For comparison, mobile grooming has only cost me $200 and that includes the convenience of coming to my home. On top of the price gouging, when I checked him at home he had a soiled rear meaning either he defecated there and they sent him home dirty, or they didn't wash him properly. Both are unacceptable for a grooming service. This was price gouging and poor care. I cannot trust this business, and I strongly advise large-breed owners to look elsewhere. read more

It's been awhile since I have taken my dogs to this groomer, but I'm so happy with our current groomer and after talking with her, we both agreed that I should leave a review so that other potential clients can be aware of the experience I had. I have two Westies and brought them to this location one time before making the decision to look elsewhere and change groomers. Finding a groomer was hard as I started looking during the start of the COVID pandemic. When I arrived to pick up my dogs, the groomers came out with my dogs and verbatim asked me "what is wrong with your dogs - they are awful". It completely caught me off guard and when I asked what they meant by that or what issue they experienced they told me that they wouldn't cooperate with getting into the bath and kept trying to get out of the tub. It confused me, because they both love bath time. It made me question how they handled my dogs. Due to COVID, I wasn't able to go inside and it left me with unanswered questions. Bottom line, if they want to draw in new clients, they need to severely work on their customer service. Their haircuts were fine, but overpriced for the end product. I am completely happy with the current groomer we go to in WSP - Wiggles & Wags. It is a smaller location, and that could have been just what I needed for my two dogs. Leah and Alex clearly have had a lot of experience. I was concerned dropping them off after the experience at Blue Ribbon, but when I picked them up, they told me that "they were great - no problems". I couldn't believe my ears. I shared my experience at Blue Ribbon, and they said that is not the experience they had. My concern for Blue Ribbon is the well-being of dogs that may have special needs. My suggestion is that they get some employees who can think on the spot and find new ways to make dogs feel safe as every dog is different and has different fears or anxieties. When I picked up my dogs from Blue Ribbon, they could not wait to get out of that space and were shaking. They said they would see them again, but I made the decision based on how they treated me as a customer to never return. Because of COVID it was another barrier that left me with many questions why my dogs were in the state that they were. I am more disgusted by their lack of customer service and choice words over anything else. read more

I began taking our 12 yr. old Scnoodle, Daisey here, because they were a little cheeper than our previous groomer. I was met by a groomer named Mariah who was very friendly. The cut was fine, but Daisey seemed rather upset. She's a very mellow dog. The next time, Daisey didn't want to go in. She was so excited to see her previous groomer that she dragged me into that place! This visit, Mariah was brusque & not very friendly. This time Daisey was shaking & crying so badly I had to pull over. Never occured before for anything. Daisey was showing signs of rapidly deteriorating hearing, so it began to be an issue. The next time Daisey started shaking when we got at the groomer & I had to carry her in the door. I told Mariah that she was almost totally deaf, so to be mindul if giving commands, etc. Mariah dragged Daisey into the grooming area while Daisey looked back at me. I should have left with my dog. Daisey became ill with an unrelated illness & was seen an emergency vet who asked if she was having any deafness. When we said yes & that it had happened suddenly, the vet said her ears were totally clogged by hair that should have been cut out at groomers. Sure enough, when I checked pics that dated to the other groomer, her ears were totally clear of hair. Daisey passed that same night snuggled in my arms, but without hearing our words of love as she crossed over. Beware. read more

I have been bringing my dogs here for over 8 years. My dog daisey used to be so nervous wreck when we first would get there, but when i would pick her up she would be chilled and adorable. I still bring her brother shasta a maltese mix who does very well here. The only down side my groomer is always booked out for weeks. Wish i could remeber to call ahead of time but i dont. Procrastination gets the better of me. I would very much recommend them. No worries with our fur babies here. read more

We took our dog here based on another groomers recommendation. My dog is 56 lbs and I was told this groomer could handle large dogs. My dog had never been to a groomer before, she's 9 months and I told them upfront she was nervous around new experiences, they told me no problem, they take extra time with new dogs to introduce them to equipment and such. THEY DIDN'T!! They put her on the table and started cutting so when someone turned on the dryer she freaked out. What did they do? They called us and told us to come and get her. She was half groomed and not bathed and they had the nerve to charge us $30.00. I would never take any dog I owned here ever again. read more

I took my 5 year old cat, Sophia in for a lion cut. It's not that I wanted it for the fashion. Sophie is very long haired, had a mat problem amongst others. She was clearly miserable and needed relief. I had rough times for treatments at other places. She's extremely shy - paranoid even, and can get aggressive. I hadn't had good luck in the past. I dropped her off after having problems even getting her into the carrier. I set expectations with the groomer, just asking her to do the best she could with a difficult kitty. Imagine my surprise when I got a phone call 45 minutes later that the grooming was done and Sophia even got bathed! I was astonished. Sophia looks great and is a much happier girl. I can't say enough about how impressed I am with Blue Ribbon. I will be taking all my business to them in the future. They get my orange tabby tom cat next. He's a much more mellow guy. I started bringing my dog here for nail trims a couple of months ago at the advice of a fellow dog park patron. My dog is a small chihuahua mix and can be quite wiggly. His nails are all black too so I get nervous cutting them myself. I was having it done at the vet but that cost 18 bucks each time and you have to make an appointment, then I brought him to the humane society to have them cut but that was 15 bucks and only available every other Sunday. I brought him here the first time as a walk in and they were very friendly and professional with him and got his nails cut right away and it only costs 7 dollars! This is now my go to place. He doesn't require much grooming otherwise (short smooth fur) but if he ever does we will be back for that as well. I also recommend this place to my other dog park friends. I have had my 4 shelties groomed here by Kris K. She is fantastic, my shelties have been groomed by a professional and they look awesome EVERY time i bring them there. If you are going to have services rendered here you must plan ahead. They are busy and book up quickly, that should tell you something. When I brought my dog home he continued to run around with his butt down and licked himself frequently so I took a closer look and saw that he had a pretty big cut on his belly area. Honestly if I could give this zero stars I would. My dog that passed away had been going here for years and I took my new rescue shih poo here. I gave them a few chances until the last one today. My dog ended up with an extremely red rash all over the inside of one of his ears. For his last two haircuts he was trimmed so close to his eyes you could see his pink skin very clearly. The last haircut my dog looked like a bowl had been placed on his head and the cut made no sense at all. I have asked every time to not cut my dog's eyelashes and it says right on his card to not cut eyelashes but I guess that's too difficult to remember since his lashes are cut every time. I continue to ask not to cut his face so close every time but that's also too difficult to remember. I'm met with excuses such as oh I had to do this or I didn't like the top of his head fluffy or sorry I had to cut his eyelashes because he moved. Is this your decision? Aren't I the paying customer? You can't control a 20 pound shih poo that is so well behaved he's about to become a licensed therapy dog? This groomer clearly has no clue what a shih tzu hair cut looks like because I have yet to see it. I had to rush my dog to an emergency vet today for his ears and it would have been $200 just to be seen. Luckily I was able to calm down the inflammation. Dogs are extremely intelligent. When you can't even drag your dog into this place but your dog prances into the vet's office, that says something. Today we couldn't even get a bowtie or bandana, we got something that looked like a ribbon left over from the holidays. As someone who has had 4 dogs, volunteers for an animal rescue and is a huge advocate to animals in general, this place sucks. I have referred a few friends but never again. I would groom my dog myself before I return here. And after years of being a loyal customer, the groomer does not offer anything and then says she is going to cancel the grooming appointment for my brother's dog. What does that even have to do with me? Save your time and money. read more

I googled groomers near my house and found Blue Ribbon with 5 stars, called, and got my all-white American Eskimo Milo in. Milo is a year and a half old and he has been groomed every few months since he was 8 weeks old. This was probably his 15th time getting groomed so he not new to this. My fiancé brought him in while I worked and told me that he was asked if Milo's been brought to a groomer before because he was so scared. he was always scared when we used to leave him at petsmart and I've been told that the more you bring them in to grooms the more they'll get used to it and be more comfortable. Well clearly this wasn't the case so that's when I knew we had to try something else. And oftentimes his long fur still had clumps in it and they would just say "he doesnt like to be brushed" at petsmart. Glad we found Blue Ribbon and hopefully he isn't so scared from now on. Milo is super white again, smelling great, and thoroughly brushed. We will be back! Thank you! read more

I have been bringing my Great Pyrenees Gidget to Blue Ribbon Grooming for about a year and everytime I am so impressed with the kindness and patience that Daelyn Dennhardt has with my dog. My dog is a senior dog...over 10 years old. Daelyn does an amazing job. Other groomers don't like doing her because she is very difficult. She weighs 120 pounds and it is very hard to clip her nails....it's a fight all the way. Daelyn does a perfect job of clipping in her butt area too. Gidget likes Daelyn and she doesn't like very many people. I got her from the shelter two years ago and she has many issues....mainly she is afraid of just about everthing and everyone. I appreciate Daelyn's kindness toward Gidget and know that when I leave Gidget with her, she will be treated like a queen. Hope you can tell Daelyn that she is the best and tell her thank you for her great grooming skills and kindness. read more
