We've been taking our miniature Goldendoodle, Bumper, to Bubbly Paws in Saint Paul for three years now. It's a bit on the spendy side but here are a few reasons why I am a devoted client. 1. Everybody who works at Bubbly Paws is extremely kind and friendly. They all fawn over Bumper and give him lots of attention. I know that he is well cared for while there. 2. All the groomers do a great job. They have a good note system so they can see exactly how he was groomed during his previous session. His cuts are very consistent. 3. The shop is clean and well maintained. I can tell that they take great care in keeping it nice. A few things that aren't so great. 1. They are extremely popular. If you don't make the next appointment while you're picking up your pooch you may get stuck for a few months waiting for something to open up. 2. Like I mentioned, it's a bit on the spendy side. Our last visit was $105 including a nail grind. I think they may have charged me an extra $5 because poor Bumper was pretty matted and the groomer had to spend extra time brushing him out. I took my longhaired dachshund to the Grand Ave location four times and would have kept going, if my groomer was reliable. She's called to change appointment times the "day of" before, but recently it was too much. "M" recently texted me 40 minutes before a full grooming appointment to say she was sick. She asked if I could come in three days later, and she would give me 10% off. I said okay. The morning of my appointment, it was -25°, so I was bundled up like Nanuk of the North. When I arrived on time for my appointment there was only one staff person there - not my groomer. This staff person called my groomer several times, but she didn't pick up. She was a no show and I finally had to leave. Much later, when I was in a warm building and could finally look at my phone, I noticed two text messages from the groomer. The first was sent just forty-five minutes before my appointment, and after I had already left my house. She texted to cancel and cited "nobody at the front desk" and a "conflict of interest" with another staff member, whatever that's supposed to mean. She didn't even give me the courtesy of calling, to ensure I'd receive her cancellation message at the last minute. The second text said, "I heard you made it over there. I'm so sorry! Can you come in at 3?" I responded that I couldn't make that time. And that's it. That's all she wrote. I'm not sure if there's much oversight or proper management over there, but there's been no follow up - horrible business practice. Especially for a company that expects 100% compliance from their customers, or will charge them hefty penalties. Both parties should be reliable. read more

I initially planned to give a five-star review based on my experiences three months ago. I adopted my rescue dog, Tucker, about four months ago, and we frequently use the self-serve dog bath due to our regular visits to the dog park. The self-service option is fantastic--I love that I can bring my own shampoo and conditioner. However, I once had to use their upgraded soap, which seemed overpriced for its quality. I also wish there were more drying options since Tucker dislikes the drying process, which worries me as winter approaches. For Tucker's first full-service grooming, I made an appointment at our home location in St. Louis Park. Unfortunately, I received a text notifying me that the groomer was no longer available, and the soonest appointment was at the Minneapolis location. I agreed, but the experience was disappointing. The staff at the Minneapolis location did not match the quality I was used to, and Tucker's grooming was mediocre. Worse, he developed an inner and outer ear infection, leading to a painful vet visit. This incident, coupled with the $87 grooming bill, prompted me to seek other grooming options. Despite this, I appreciate the membership pricing due to Tucker's frequent need for baths and the convenience of multiple metro area locations. I have met the owners at the St. Louis Park location, and they are wonderful people. While I will avoid the Minneapolis location in the future, I plan to explore other locations and continue using the St. Louis Park branch, though it's often booked months in advance. read more

Sadly, the company's business practices are such that groomers who prefer to be paid on time for their work don't stay and for good reason. Move over fancy poodles, my lab Georgie loved her spa day! My 12yo son and I wanted to try the self serve dog wash. Cool things: Tall tubs-no bending over. Large aprons so we didn't get wet. Container of cotton balls for ear cleaning. Individually wrapped toothbrushes that are preloaded with paste. Separate room for drying. White towels and leave in conditioner spray that smells fantastic. Staff was really nice and said to use anything we wanted. I think $20 is a bit much. We'll come back for sure but probably not often. Hours later Georgie is so soft and fluffy and smells wonderful. read more

Customer service was average at best. Took my 10 month old Aussie to get groomed here and he was able to get through the bath and blow dry just fine. The groomer, Laura then texted me and said that my pup wouldn't stop moving and that it was too dangerous to continue with the haircut, which is totally fine. The problem I have, however, is that when I asked if I could be in the room to hold him and keep him calm, she wouldn't even even allow my to TRY that, and said that he needed more grooming experience... Ummm, I'm not a dog groomer, so how am I supposed to get him more grooming experience if you don't even TRY to allow me to be in the room to keep him calm?! Only nice thing was that the place was clean and tidy. But they should advertise that this is not puppy friendly, only older dogs that don't have puppy energy. $60 for a bath and blow dry read more

I spent 20 minutes minutes creating a an account, uploading dog pictures, credit card information, bdays of dogs then tried to book an appt. This appoint system is a joke! You have to check every week on a drop down menu to find no availability. Instead of saving the customers time by saying "first available time". On the website it states grooming appt times are booked out 1-2 weeks. I understand when a business is busy and am glad they are, just be honest and don't waste the time of a customer to fill out a long detailed profile! I get that business want to direct customers to a website for availability to reduce calls, however this website is an absolute joke that wastes the customers time. Call instead.... read more

First time taking my pup Kota here and she looks amazing!!! I've tried getting her groomed at other places before and she's come out looking terrible, so I've been doing it myself for the last year. She was starting to get scruffy again so I thought I'd try a professional groomer again for her spring trim and she looks SO GOOD! I'm seriously blown away. She's a mini Australian shepherd / toy poodle mix so she has hair and fur and they knew exactly how to trim both her coats and trimmed her face perfectly to make her look so cute. Visited Bubbly Paws to get our two pups a nail trim. We called before coming just to see if they take reservations or not. And for the nail trims they do not. Parking was not the greatest because it's Grand Avenue but there a couple spots in the back. We were greeted when we arrived and were next in place to have them groomed. I was not too fond that there was not really a formal lounge or seating area. Just a wooden seat by the window or back wall. I liked that they had clips where you can leash your dog so they don't run around. The establishment was clean. The groomer was efficient with clipping our dogs' nails no blood or cuts. I wish they'd allow us back to the grooming area with our dogs. Overall price was just right and the service was carried out appropriately! The place was a bit more of an in and out deal rather than the staff wanting to get to know you or your dogs. Will be back if in the area! read more

WARNING TO POTENTIAL CLIENTS: their policy on cancelation is ridiculous - if you have to cancel appt. the same day, they charge you the FULL FEE of grooming. Also, they are notorious for not talking to clients directly - try to get through on the phone, you usually can't and they don't return texts. They are very high priced compared to other groomers. You have to make appointments online and it's very confusing to find a date/time, and to know anything at all about the groomers listed. Their corporate office in Minneapolis is also very unresponsive - try to get them to call you back. read more

Bubbly paws is a place where you can bring your pup for some grooming. They have 2 different options, self service or full service. We've only done the self service so this review will not speak on full service. Greeted with friendly staff. The shampoo and conditioner they provide is subpar. With my dog we can go through an entire liter of shampoo, to get the job done. The wash bays are very nice and convenient. Once the washing and rinsing is done, head over to the dryer bay. I was a little disappointed that absolutely no heat comes out of the dryer. A little heat would be nice, not just cold air. The dryer bay is a very small enclosed room, the dryers are very loud and my dog hates it. Afterwards you can use a spritz or two of cologne on your pup. Which smells pretty good actually. The staff will clean up after you so that's really a nice touch. We will be back. read more

We were at the dog park and our dog was covered in mud when I called and made the decision to stop by for a self serve dog wash. I have done dog washes before at other places and they were okay but Bubbly Paws was fantastic. We were greeted right away and given thorough instructions. The place was cute and very clean. I loved the supplies and how they were fully stocked and organized and always at an arms reach. The staff member kept checking on us to see if we needed anything =). I have been coming here for the last, probably, 4 months to bathe my dog since our bathroom with the only bath tub has been demolished and has taken a seat on the back burner in regards to current priorities. I used to go to "you dirty dog" in Shoreview before coming here. You dirty dog is pretty run down, floors are always sopping wet, drying room is always caked with dog hair so anytime you put the dryer on it blows hair EVERYWHERE. It's $22 per wash for my dog's size (40lbs) there. What brought me to come to bubbly paws is that one day I went to give my dog a bath at you dirty dog and they were closed for some reason. I refused to go home unless I had a clean bathed dog. Did some googling and found this place. Drove there and was amazed at how much nicer it was compared to you dirty dog. Super clean, no sopping wet floors, friendly, and upscale. Friendly staff. There's always open tubs whenever I go so that's not an issue. I bring my own shampoo for my dog - he gets very oily and smelly quickly so I use a special shampoo for him and have for the last 8-9 years. Good sized tubs, you kinda have to lean over and into the tubs a bit but not too much. Robes, different types of brushes and towels are offered. The one issue I've had recently is the drying room. The last couple times I went there was a good amount of dog hair on the floor and when you switch on the high powered blow dryer it makes it fly everywhere. Getting in your eyes and mouth, getting on your clothes. It's pretty displeasing so I hope management sees this and addresses the issue. Other than that I am more than happy with this business and this location. Plus it's only $18 to bathe my dog here. read more

This place is great! Friendly helpful staff is what really makes this place worthwhile. They are always asking if there's anything else you need (more soap, conditioner, towels, brushes). Wide selection of grooming tools to make washing your pet super easy. The tubs are big enough for my large breed dog (75 pounds) and I've seen dogs nearly twice her size fit comfortably in the tubs... the tubs are of course fine for tiny dogs as well. We also found our dogs most favorite treat at this place, which if my dog could Yelp, would get this place an instant 5 stars. The treats are called Charki Puffs by Diggin. They are essentially dried beef lung and liver... I know disgusting right... but your dog will love them, and love you more for buying a bag. read more

Beau can be wiggly and is strong willed yet she always manages to trim the hair away from his eyes and always cuts him exactly how I want! I waited a month for this appointment since my dog was in much need of a haircut and they never even cut my dogs hair and just gave him a basic wash. They ended charging me full price and a late fee since their communication process is so bad. You can't even call the location and speak to anyone. So I've brought my dog here a handful off times and have never had to wait for self-service. Yay! Everything is good, the shampoo/conditioner is super watered down, it's fine, that's why I sometimes bring my own...now, my issue is with the dryer room, ick! I don't suppose they have time to clean the hair after every pet, but dayem, if you accidentally point the dryer to the floor or something, all the hair flies around creating some sort of dog-hair-cyclone or something in the room, next thing you know, you're eating hair, hair all over your clothes and hair *cough* hair ball!...I almost wish I'd bring a face mask when I dry my dog. Why they haven't already put in some sort of vent on the ceiling or on the side to suck the hair away, I don't know...I wish they would, I like going here, I just DREAD that room O_o read more

I have never written a review of any place but I have to say this- I brought my dog here a few weeks ago to get groomed and when I got him back he would not stop scratching his ears and they were very red. After a few days they were even worse so I brought him to the vet where they told me he had a double ear infection because of soap left in his ears. With TWO medications and weeks of trying they still have not gotten better. I had to bring him back to the vet where they put in suppository medications and we have to check back in two weeks again to make sure they are better. $130 for the grooming and $250 of medication to fix their mistake. When I called bubbly paws to talk to them about it, they told me there's no way of knowing if it was them or not. Even though I have never put any soap down his ears. Basically don't waste your money or time by going to this place, they don't care about your animals they just want your money. read more

My husband and I had taken our 9lbs Bichon/Shitzu here a few times. We found out that our dog never had an appointment, she had a "Time" to be there. At the "time" of our/your dogs appointment, they begin to corral several dogs at the same "time" into whatever machine is used by the 1 groomer responsible for not only our dog but all the dogs that are supposed to be washed at that "time." Long story short, it's a very automated process and your dog doesn't get the undivided attention he/she deserves for being the loyal companion he/she is. It could be a very traumatic experience for dog, a dog that is being groomed corral-style next to your dog. Their approach to dog grooming has all the ingredients for disaster. A very avoidable disaster. Again, if you really care about your furry friend, avoid this business. read more

We have taken our small dog for grooming at Bubbly Paws on Grand Avenue twice. We had been to 4 or 5 other groomers before finding Bubbly Paws, and now we will always come here. They cut our dog's hair just the right length with no unevenness; they don't use smelly shampoos or products; and my nervous dog always seems relaxed and happy when I pick her up. The first time we used Bubbly Paws, our dog had some matting on her legs and they called to make sure it was ok to cut the fur on her legs shorter. I have made appointments online, and they contact me right away if my choice isn't available. I've been very happy with the service, and I feel like the haircut grows out nicely. We have a very large dog and we dread giving him a bath in our tiny tub, then spending hours cleaning the entire bathroom which is always inevitably covered in hair and slobber. It is sooo worth the $27 to bathe him here! The tubs are roomy and high with good water pressure. The shampoo and conditioner smell awesome. And the drying room....best. idea. ever!! Bubbly Paws is absolutely fantastic! I usually go to the St. Louis Park location and have never been let down. I decided to make a trek to the St. Paul location just for kicks and its just as charming as my regular location. The staff at either location is always SUPER courteous and attentive. They are always willing to help whenever I have questions (or even when they see me struggling they offer some great advice!) As a first time dog mom I was awkward and nervous about so many things with my pooch: bathing, drying, teeth cleaning, nail trimming, ear cleaning... and now grooming is a synch thanks to the help from the pros! If you have a dog prone to shedding, ask about the "de-furminator" treatment. The special brush and line of shampoos/conditioners totally helps with shedding better than standard products! And my pup always walks away happy too having been spoiled with pets and treats. Whichever location you are near, they are both always worth a visit. read more

I called Bubbly Paws while driving back to the cities with all the windows down and they let me know I needed to be there by 7pm because that was their cut off for starting a bath before closing. I loved this place! Bathing our dog at home is a nightmare (apt living) and the groomer is much more expensive. I have a lab/pit mix. She has short hair (obviously) and is terrified of bath time. The no slip leads are awesome for her. We used the oatmeal shampoo and conditioner. It's one of the first times she has not started flaking immediately after a bath. She smelled great. The facility was very clean. Staff was nice and friendly. They have many other products available for purchase in case you need them. We will likely use this more often. read more
