Brought my boy in to a groomer for the second time in his life. I was nervous as the previous groomer (different business) had said he didn't handle much of any of the grooming well (pulling away, anxious, etc). But the ladies did so well in talking to me and making me comfortable leaving my boy in their care. From the details they provided post-groom, he initially exhibited the same stress and anxiety signs as previously but they took the time to work with him to make it as pleasant as possible. This time when I picked him up, he was freshly bathed, nails trimmed and he didn't seem stressed out. The biggest thing was his eyes were happy, clear, and not bloodshot unlike the last groomer. I get nervous leaving my pup in the care of others, especially when you hear horror stories of abusive borders and groomers but I will DEFINITELY be bringing him back to Furry Tails! Amazing! Because of the shut down, our regular groomer was unavailable. Milo (Shichon) was way overdue for a grooming, ssns was basically 1 giant walking mat. I was on a cancellation call back list, so we'r were able to get in much sooner than expected. Furry Tails did a fabulous job! Usually he hates getting groomed, but this time he didn't hate it, and he looks great! The cost was much lower than I expected. I'm sold. We are done with our previous groomer! read more

Jacquie is a wonderful groomer. I have been caring for Rebel, a full coated collie for the last few years and she has kept him in perfect show coat. She obviously loves dogs and treats them all with love and kindness. Rebel runs right into the shop for his monthly spa visit! Huge thank you to furry tails. They got me in last minute for a summer haircut for my golden doodle. My dog was an absolute shaggy mop and he looks fantastic. Previous groomers have had trouble around my dogs paws and ears but Bogey looks great. They also gave me tips and suggestions on how to keep his coat from getting so matted and his hair grows back out. $90 at Furry Tails Grooming Salon resulted in an over-aggressive 4 hour groom including 3 razor burns to the face by Teresa Jacobsen. The traumatizing experience was made worse by the Owner Shelly Becker who responded with nervous giggles and an offer of a $10 credit for the allergen shampoo. It took our rescue over a week for his wounds to heal and his personality changed; he's now he's afraid of baths. Our rescue's former groomer returned a beautiful scissor cut happy Shih Tzu and never had such difficulties as Furry Tail had. read more

Brought my puppy here, as we are finally settled in to a home and area, at the recommendation of our neighbor. She had her poor little topknot butchered by a certain chain store and the rest of her coat, as well. So I called Theresa when it was time to have her groomed again, to let a professional handle it. Theresa and her co-workers made us feel so welcome and comfortable and it is VERY obvious, from the moment you step in the door, that they LOVE animals! Theresa and I talked about what I wanted done with my Yorkie's hair and about any special concerns I had. I felt very comfortable leaving my fourth child with her and her staff. My puppy is beautiful and soft and she gave me suggestions on how to keep her coat pristine between groomings. Looking at the other dogs in the salon at the time, they were all very calm and looked beautiful, as well. When I picked my puppy up, Theresa took the time to talk to me and I didn't feel like I was rushed or like she just wanted to take my money and be done with me until next time. The whole staff is very professional and personable and I would recommend Furry Tails to anyone who cares about how their dog looks and more importantly, how they're treated. I'm happy to be the first person on Yelp to say that this is an excellent place to bring your cat! I just brought my beloved cat Jinx here to get a much needed lion cut. The two women working at Furry Tails did a FANTASTIC job. I couldn't be more pleased. Their system was to have one woman hold Jinx while the other shaved and groomed him. Normally you don't get this kind of service. Also they didn't give me a hard time at all over booking an appointment for my cat which most places unfortunately do. Jinx is a purebred Persian who desperately needs grooming. I wouldn't recommend shaving your short hair cat as they probably don't need it however if your cat is matted and needs attention this is absolutely the place! I really couldn't be more pleased. If I could give them ten stars I would. The groomers genuinely care about the well being of your pet and if you're a good owner this should mean a lot to you. When we moved up to the cities, it took me probably a month of online searching to find a groomer to bring my pups to. I wouldn't say I'm extremely picky, just a little particular. I have two Havanese who I like to keep in their long coat, and after my mom's Havanese once got a puppy cut "on accident" I was always leary. Luckily, I first found Shelly's salon in Elk River (Scooby Do's) and while not a bad drive from Coon Rapids, Shelly told us she has a salon in Champlin, as well! We've been taking our dogs to Jacque at Furry Tails ever since! She does awesome brushing out my dog's long coats, giving them a "sanitary" trim around the underside, paws, and face, and trimming their nails. My younger Havanese has finer/smoother hair that mats really quickly, and I can typically manage it, but it once got out of hand after being out in the snow, the holidays, etc. and I was SO worried she'd have to be shaved down, but Jacque saved the day & my pretty little girl still had her hair & looked fabulous! I wouldn't say my dogs LOVE going to get groomed, but they don't mind coming in to Furry Tails, and Jacque always gives them loving and keeps them happy. Unlike some previous places, I don't have to drag them through the door to get them to go inside. And when I pick them back up, their tails are still wagging and they look great! It's definitely more expensive than the chain stores, but to me, it's worth it! Especially with all the work/brushing my dogs require. We just got a black lab, and they offer salt/sugar scrubs and mud wraps that help with dry, itchy skin- so we are excited to try that out! When my dogs are happy, I'm happy, and we all love Furry Tails! read more

First time at a new spot for me and my dog. I felt very comfortable leaving my dog there. They did a really good job grooming him as well.

When Jen used to cut my dogs hair she took her time. She told me my dog had the hardest hair to cut that's why it took do long. Now with new ownership it's turned in to. A doggie great lips.. I had tried to tell them what I wanted and they just rushed me out the door and told me it would only take half the time because they do things differently now.. I will never bring my dog back there again for how much they are charging you should be getting the same kind if service now my dog needs a hair cut and its been only 2 weeks Znd you can barely see her eyes. Usually she gives 8 weeks. There's a reason furry rails did so good before. Some advice to the new owners if you want to stay in business go back to the service we used to get.. When we first went, the old owners were not so great. We take three dogs. One had allergies and the shampoo and ear cleaner negatively affected her. They then sold it and we started having Jacque cut the girls. All three look great. One of the dogs who is normally not into other people and a bit shy. However after the first time, she is super excited and walks right up to Jacque. Still isn't crazy about getting groomed but she behaves better for Jacque and has no fear of going. Same with the other two (who are less picky). I would highly recommend getting your dogs done here. read more

Brought my dachshund and terrier here as a walk-in appointment to get their nails trimmed. The woman groomer was very professional and caring. She was currently working on cutting a dog's hair so she brought him to the back room, as not to get my dogs anxious, and to keep her dog safe while she tended to my dogs' nails. She let my terrier see her tools before clipping his toes and was very gentle and caring to his nerves. My dachshund is more squeamish so she let me hold him while she worked. Both dogs' nails looked amazing. With the grinding, they were very short and smooth. No injured cuticles and no bleeding. Both dogs were very happy and calm and rewarded with treats. Although the price is quite expensive, it is worth every penny. The environment is low stress and the groomer was very skilled. I would definately recommend this grooming place and will be coming back here next time. read more
