Rain did really well on Jj's nail trim and buffing! I got my baby dog their full bath plus nail buffing, teeth brushing and breath refresher and everything is good. Jj sheds a lot so I think the 15 minute brush-out helped too. We just moved here in Ewa so it was my first time to try Petco's grooming service here and I can tell I'll be back again. Dont take your pet here for grooming they used to be good.. i took my dog here last year for a full on grooming shedding package for like $90 everything was done good, but today when i came to pick up my dog for the same grooming package as i was petting her while still inside the store here comes undercoat flying all over the place but i was thinking maybe its just left overs from the shedding they did but as i was driving home with windows open i see undercoat again flying all over inside my car so i was thinking something is not right.. as i got home i got my furminator and tried brishing over the coat and just as i thought they didnt do the shedding part... paid $90 bucks for something that i could have done myself and thats giving my dog a shower for free! I brought my dog son here for grooming...the full works....I told the lady how I dont like the bang over his eyes she ensured she understood. Fast forward to me picking him up and for lack of an better word....I do not like the haircut..he has that bang I specifically tols them to eliminate, the cut looked uneven......when I touched his paw he screamed indicating that his nails hurt.......all this for 72 dollars....one positive his coat was white but I've had better haircuts for my dog son....Pet Smart we may be returning.... read more

Love this location for grooming and for retail purchases for my dog. My groomer Christie is fantastic with my senior dog. She is gentle in the grooming process and provides an excellent cut - she's always professional, friendly, and puts my dog right at ease. The entire grooming staff seems to really care for the pets and treats them lovingly. I visit the store at least once every 2 weeks to buy food, treats, toys, etc. and I am always impressed with how inviting the store is to peruse. The exterior storefront and parking lot are always clean. The store itself is immaculate; smells good; and is organized making it very easy to find what you're looking for (they recently moved things around to improve the flow). They always have my dog's food (canned Nutro Senior Natural Choice) in stock - they never let me down! The prices are reasonable and the buyers/managers have a very good variety for a smaller store. I've been to larger locations on the mainland (Arizona, California, Washington) that didn't stock as well as this store. The only product that I've noticed that they should diversify is the pooper scooper - more options of this would be good. Also they are now military friendly - so don't hesitate to ask for the discount. I would recommend to everyone to join the rewards program as well - every little bit helps. read more

went and did a run thru - the store - it is pretty pricey - there are some who will offer to help you but - I was a bit floored at the price - we have five toy dogs - and we first went in to get some chewies - for our dogs - way pricey - we have the Pet Depot in Ewa Beach - and we go there often - we get discounts there - for being a regular customer _ heard some negatives about the Pet Depot - us NEVER - when we have bought puppies there - we get a bag of dog food - our puppy has pretty much most of their shots and they bathe them - AND they get their shots - most of them - at the Pet Hale in Waikele - we bought one of our Maltese mix - and she had poop on her face - they just wiped her with a Kleenex - omg - such care ___ Pet Depot - I highly recommend - they rock :o) read more

I went in to check out their saltwater fish selection and they were very helpful. Ron helped me with my questions and it was good that he was a salt water fish enthusiast. It is good when companies hire employees that know what they are selling and have a keen interest in assisting their customers. Their grooming is great but pricing is erratic. They add extra "complimentary services" without asking first and then add it to your account your next visit and charge, again without asking first. They've changed price structures twice in the past year and they're now charging about 50% more per dog than last month. The rate was $22/dog on April 14th (I paid less because of rewards points) and just over a month later they charged me $32 each. They didn't even tell me of the latest price increase when I dropped my dogs off but hit me with a nice additional bill when I came to pick them up. The staff said they only just found out themselves. This store is within walking distance of my home and my dogs love the groom but who can afford higher prices and the uncertainty of what the bill will be at the end? read more

This is the ONLY place we will take our dogs for grooming, for us it's a 40 minute drive but completely worth it. They are always so friendly and greet our dogs by name as soon as they come in. They are very understanding of our hyper puppy and always make ways to accommodate him. Ours pups always come out looking and smelling amazing, which is a task since they both like to roll in the dirt everyday. I am going to be very sad when we have to leave the island and find a new groomer, they are awesome and I would recommend them 100%! read more

I don't want to say the name of the girl who did it but I took my cat to get her nails clipped and capped a week ago. She came out with nails that were clipped past the quick, bleeding and torn down because as they said, "she was fighting them which caused the nails to become that damaged that they tore." My cat is very sweet/non agressive. I have clipped and capped her myself at home but payed for it this time thinking that they could do a better and dagger job at the groomers. I was so wrong! They have to put a helmet looking thing on her, which is why she was fighting them in the first place. And the nail wouldn't rip to shreds like that unless they had already cut them too short. To top it off, the groomer responsible did not say a single word. She didn't apologize or anything.. The manager refunded me without asking which is how you know they really messed up. It's not the money that I care about, it's my cat. To top it off, it took a couple of days for my cat to get over the pain. She fell off the bed and stumbled around limping because her paw was in so much pain. I almost took her to the vet to be sure it wasn't a sprain. read more

My first experience at this store was meh, but its the closest one to me so I gave it another chance and I must say its the only place I go now. I haven't used their grooming services, but the customer service I receive shopping is awesome. I come here A LOT and the people are always extremely nice and helpful. I'm always looking for the stuff that's on super sale to take to the local shelter and the employees have no problem helping me find it - its not always on the clearance bin. They are patient and never seem to get frustrated even when they have a line and I show up with a cart full of clearance items and they have to get approval for each one. As for the size of the store, yes its smaller than Kapolei, but they seriously have the BEST deals when they are trying to get rid of stuff. $9 for a bag of food that's regularly $50?? All the staff at this Petco are extremely friendly and helpful. One of the staff members saw me carrying a bunch of stuff in my hands. He asked me if I needed any help and I replied "yes, do you happen to have any carts?". He found a cart for me to put my stuff in. I'm giving four stars because when I went back this morning to pick up a couple more items I forgot last night, I received a coupon book for first time puppy owner that could have saved me a whole lot of money the night before. read more

The lady that takes care of the birds was very helpful. She took the time to explain what a conure needs and let us and hold the Conures they had on display. Super friendly employees & they're always asking if you're finding everything alright or if you need any help. I ended up buying a different brand of dog food from what I normally buy. But the good thing is that the dog food that I bought (which was grain free & had no chicken, my dogs are allergic :( )was on sale for $39.99 for a big bag. What a score! Petco is honestly my favorite place to shop for all of my dog needs! You can also bring your pet inside so they don't have to wait in the car for you while you shop for them. They also have events like when I went on Saturday they had dogs with a vest saying "Adopt me" Always ask them questions if you have any & don't hesitate to not ask them for any help. read more

I went to Petco today intending on buying a new bed for our dog. I was standing there with my daughter and we narrowed it down to two beds. She wanted to lay on it to test it for our dog, so I let her quickly lay on each one. Then all of a sudden a male employee with blond hair that was probably about 15-20ft away say loudly (because he is far away) "You can not put the beds on the ground or lay on them". That is so unprofessional being he was assisting another customer and reprimanding me from across the store. I was with my daughter so it is not like she was yanking them off the shelf and jumping up and down on them. That is fine if we can not test the product, even though I do not see the harm that could come from it. However, how difficult would it have been to ask the customer he is with to hold on one moment and came over and talked to me discretely and just politely state to please not test the beds out it is against our policy. It was rather embarrassing the way he informed us, and I was really close to embarrassing him in front of his customer but that would make me no better than my complaint. The only good that came out of this situation is using this situation to explain to my daughter is that is not how you handle a matter like that appropriately. I am very upset about this and I would much rather drive to another location, if any Petco's anymore. I hope management takes the time to teach their employees however briefly they choose in proper ways to correct a situation in the store with a potential customer. read more

Worst experience ever! My puppy spent over 6 hours getting 'groomed'. They kept saying he wasn't done yet, its busy....it's Memorial Day weekend. We're super busy'. BUT, we had An appointment! My husband finally went to get him. Mind you. No food, water or potty for over 6 hours and he looks awful!!!!!! Only half of his body was groomed, and horrible.... Our amazing groomer Tammy left in March and now, since her departure we will NEVER go back!!! I'm sad. read more

This is my second review on this store and I wanted to make some additional remarks. First, six months ago, I took my dog to get groomed here by Merissa. She did an amazing job with my Goldendoodle. She was patient and listened to what I wanted and offered suggestions and then groomed him exactly as I hoped. Since I live some distance away from Ewa Beach, I used two other groomers in the last six months and was genuinely disappointed. One groomer was obviously rushing and my dog was uncomfortable, the second provided me with a dog groomed as they wanted, not me. So, despite the distance, I went back to Merissa at Petco yesterday for another grooming. Again, she did not disappoint. My dog was groomed perfectly. Also, though not as important to me as my dog's happiness and the quality of the grooming, their price was compatible if not a little cheaper than the other groomers I used in the past! Bonus! The employees in the grooming area and the store are polite, friendly and you can tell they LOVE animals (two asked to pet my dog and one went down on the ground to play with him for a minute). Every employee greeted my as I walked around the store and each asked if I needed any help. This type of professional combined with a genuine love of animals makes me certain I found a store that's worth the long drive to get to. I will no longer be experimenting with other groomers on the island and thank you Merissa and Petco Ewa Beach for the great service. read more

I have been taking my dog to Petco Kapolei for grooming for the last few years. I moved to Ewa last year and decided to try the Ewa Petco grooming a few months ago. The groomers are phenomenal! Bruno looks amazing and they're so good with him that he looks forward to going and gets excited every month when I take him. I wish I could afford to take him twice a month! I don't even have a preference on a specific groomer- they're all really talented! Five stars! read more

I called many pet shops asking for pin head crickets and nobody had until I called this one. The Lady, with a good attitude said their were 7 containers. I Got their in less than 20-25 minutes just to find all of them completely empty with dark fungus/mold covering all of them. What a terrible experience read more

i went to petco to check it out. I normally shop at the pet depot. I walked into petco and discovered that thhis location doesnt carry my dog food. I spoke to an employee and asked him where thhe five star dog foods are. I said they had premium brands but didnt know what the five star dog food list was. I explained it and said i prefer grainfree. He showed me a bunch some of which had grains saying that it was prefectly acceptable to feed. My dog has a wheat allergy and cant have grains. Two stars for them attempting to be eco friendly by having their reusable container kitty liter program. Minus a star for it saying its saving u money but actually being more pricey than walmarts arm and hammer brand. I cant figure out why with the opportunity to design this store from scratch they decided to make it small and old looking. I love that they work with no kill rescues to adopt out kitties. I like going to this petco because most of the time it's not too busy, like howkapolei is, so more times than most Ewa still has big bags of the dog food we get, because in Kapolei it sells out real fast. But I hate going there for grooming. The girls who do the grooming are rude and not professional at all. I went in to get my Pit Bulls nails trimmed and buffed. They mentioned "Black is ready at grooming" over the PA system for me to pick him up. When I went into the little area and said I'm here for Black, she looked at me and said "No. I don't think you heard correctly. We called for a Maximus" Excuse me? No. Then when she opened the door to the actually grooming room, my baby was laying on the floor waiting for me. The girl looked at me with disgust while saying "Oh. Is THAT yours?" YES HE IS MINE. AND HIS NAME IS BLACK. Very rude. That was my first and only time going there to do his nails, because 1 they are rude and disrespectful. And 2 they didn't do a good job. His nails were not buffed out at all, they actually had splinters, and they didn't cut them correctly because he was limping, as if he was trying not step on his paws too hard. But I will continue to go there to get his dog food and teeth cleaner. The dog trainers are my favorite people at this petco. read more

Ewa Petco seems more like your local friendly family-owned store then part of a big chain. My family often walks there for a fun evening with our dog & toddler who both love to look at the animals, fish & dog toys. The store is decorated with pretty hawaiian touches, our dog has a favorite groomer Christie who always loves on her & spoils her. She also loves the evening cashier Tyler who always talks to her, pets her & spoils her with treats. The staff here really care about animals & their owners, it definitely shows! We will miss this store & staff when we move off island. read more

I knew what I wanted, two guppies, in a rush, so I scan every aisle, no one, so I go to the cashier and ask him to call someone for me at the guppy tank. Waited a couple of minutes and I hear the intercom, worker comes and starts talking to a couple who just walked up to the fish department!!! So I rush to the cashier and ask him to page someone else to help me, NO ONE ELSE THERE TO HELP ME!!! Leaving store I bump into a guy wearing a black vest and ask him if he was the manager, yes he was, I explained my situation and he flips me off by saying sorry bout that. WELL the cashier who was a lot younger than the manager speaks up and tells me, my manager can help you with the fish, well, I looked the manager in the eye and said NO THANKS!!!!!
