Wow...what a difference compared to their Kapolei store. I'm sure their grand opening had something to do with it. Friendly customer service was apparent everywhere we turned. This store appeared smaller than the other Petco, but all the typical stuff seemed to be there. I did take a star off because their fish section wasn't complete. Many fishes weren't for sale temporarily as they were being monitored. There was a whole empty section in their saltwater fish row. How can you have a grand opening and have empty, labeled sections? Poor planning. However, they made up for it in customer service. We had a question about cleaning our algae in our pond. Service reps were very informative and helpful. As we checked out, again very friendly customer service. They couldn't find my Petco card account. Apparently, it's not functioning properly. Again....shouldn't be happening at a grand opening. These little things wouldn't deter me from coming back again though. read more

They truly deserve ZERO stars! This review has been a LONG TIME COMING! I was so devastated by my fathers death, all I wanted was to snuggle with my dog to get a little comfort. I took him in for grooming and requested the teddy bear face shape... (Yorkie) when I picked him up he had basically been BUTCHERED! He was shaved with a #1 guard or no guard, he looked like a RAT. I was so upset & demanded a refund. They agreed to refund half, then out of nowhere, this huge b came into the grooming area & started in w her mouth! Okay my dad just died, now you killed my dogs haircut & then proceed to yell at me & be a smart a**. I told the beast she'd best shut up or she was going to get it! I was emotionally devastated and this crazy heifer was yelling at me. It was extremely close to becoming physical, actually I think she wanted me to knock her out so she could get disability or something because she refused to leave the room & continued to provoke me until someone came in & escorted her out. I left shaking with my rat looking dog & half my money back. I should've called bbb but with all that was happening I couldn't manage even writing this review. Today, a yr & a half later, I'm scrolling thru fb when I see in the Schofield community fb page a picture of a dog that developed some kind of rash that was infected & gross, no big shocker to me it developed after bringing her dog to Petco for grooming! The lady said her vet prescribed antibiotics & said it comes from groomers who aren't practicing proper sanitation with brushes... After EACH dog. The post continued to have replies with complaints about services here & I decided it was time to sit down & write a review. If you care at all about your dog you should NEVER GO HERE! The staff is UNPROFESSIONAL & EXTREMELY RUDE! The actual grooming service was HORRIBLE!!! I could've run some clippers over my dog myself if I wanted a shaved rat! It took at least 6 MONTHS for his hair to grow back so I could take him to a REAL GROOMER! I get sick every time I park in the shopping centers to shop at Safeway just looking at that ratchet place. This review is about the grooming services at this Petco location. I used to take my dogs to the Groom Room in Ewa Beach. A few things happened there that I didn't care for, but overall I thought the grooming services were ok. However, my two dogs really didn't like it there. They would start shaking in the car as soon as I would make the turn into the parking lot. And when I picked them up, they would look so scared and terrified. (I just figured they didn't like to be groomed). One day I got a coupon in the mail from Petco's grooming services - 20% off the first groom - which for me, with 2 dogs, was a lot of savings. So I decided to try them. And I am so glad I did! What a huge difference in my dogs behavior! They are so much more calm, and the staff really do seem very warm and friendly. I brought them back several times since, and my dogs seem to really like it there. Amy has groomed my dogs twice now, (we've had other groomers as well, but I forgot their names!) and they seem to really love her. I also love how gentle she seems to be with them, especially with my one dog (who's cage shy and a little anxious sometimes). When I pick them up, they are smily and happy (not like happy to see me cause they're terrified and want to get out of there, like at the Groom Room). If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would, just because my dogs seem to like it there so much. And, that's all that matters to me. :) read more

Took my husky, Snoopy, there for the first time and what an amazing experience! Kari took such good care of my dog from his breath, to his coat, and nails! He smells wonderful and I can clearly see a difference from how he looked before I took him in. It was worth every penny and if I were living here longer, I would make Kari his permanent groomer. We have spent countless of dollars on fish at this petco, had our water tested which was great. But all the fish we buy will end up dying. Last time I was there almost half of the fishes in tanks were dead or about to die floating backwards and swimming sideways. Aside from a few fish, I haven't had a pet that, as my son puts it, "walks the face of the earth" in many years. After months of prodding and cajoling, I finally agreed to let us adopt a kitteh. We found a cute little ball of fur at the new Ewa Beach Petco, and after a day or so the Humane Society approved our adoption and we got to pick him up. I had a bazillion questions and the associate who helped me spent almost an hour answering all of them! She was so friendly, and gave great advice as I picked out all the stuff needed to keep kitteh happy. I was also really pleased that Petco hooked us up with a bunch of coupons following the adoption. He got free cat litter and all kinds of other goodies! So we joined the Petco club and now get $5 off coupons with each $100 spent. Plus, there's a 10% discount for active duty military. I also refill the kitty litter there and save a few bucks off a new one. Love the new store - very convenient and clean. Parking is a breeze and now that I have kitteh I'll probably be spending lots of time and money there! read more

I have the craziest hunting dog ever. He will NOT let me near his nails. Even the vet has a hard time with him. But he LOVES coming to Petco in Ewa Beach to get his nails done and have a puppy spa day. I don't know how they do it but he comes back to me happy and clean every time. I just bought a Pom/Chi puppy 9 weeks old. I went into Petco because I have not had a dog since mine passed in my lap 4 years ago. A young man named Leonard helped me with patience and a happy friendly demeanor. I was impressed by his knowledge of the products and what I would need for a puppy that young. Because of Leonards customer service , I will be a regular at that store from now on. I hope management gives him kudos for his excellent service. If you go to this Petco, there is a really good chance you'll see some weird chick hanging out in front of the adoptable cats, talking quietly and sounding kind of crazy. That's me. I'm here a lot. Please don't interrupt. My boyfriend and I used to come here a lot to buy stuff for his chameleon before the poor little dude died (the chameleon, not the boyfriend). They have a really good variety of stuff for the size of the store, and the employees have my absolute favorite balance of being helpful when you need help, and leaving you alone to be a creepy cat lady when you don't need help. read more

Wow, can't believe I stayed on hold so long( 3 song exactly). Called to ask if they carried a specific dog food(Eukanuba Specific Breed, Rottweiler dog food. Well after 3 associates later, the last associate(local guy, who stayed on the phone and didn't put me on hold) finally gave me an answer within 15SEC that they didn't carry it....OMG, FINALLY!!! Never shopping here...!! They said they normally don't do cats on walk ins cuz only certain groomers can do cats and all the dogs make the cats nervous. But they still got me in and did my cat! My friend wanted to get a pet, and she was really indecisive about what she wanted to get. We were looking around, and she took her time because I mean she didn't want to get a pet she wouldn't want later on. The man working in the fish section noticed us looking around, and he basically asked if we needed help in a rude way and was telling us we couldn't be bouncing around and stuff. It was like we were getting scolded, that ticked us off. It was just bad vibes, I almost didn't want to purchase anything. But we complained to the manager, and he help us get a fish. They're the only ones who carry the food we need but there was none on the shelf. Jesse was a great help in trying to locate it in stock and checked the back for us. Sadly they had none but he was able to find a bigger size of the same product and gave it to us at the price we normally get it at. He even made some other food recommendations he uses for his own furry pals which we will keep in mind. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. They hustle a lot so be patient with them when they're busy. Puppy training classes occur here, as they do in most PetCo locations, but this one seems nice and relaxed. read more

And is very spacious, neat and organized. They have a grooming section which is a plus! They have a variety of beautiful fish, some hamsters, birds, rabbits, turtles, mice and chinchillas too! My daughter and I recently (July) came to buy a glow fish. The lady who assisted us was friendly and helpful, however, she questioned us about how big our tank was and what other fish we had inside. Then she advised us to get a bigger tank soon. We left happy with a new pink glow fish! We came by again a couple weeks later and I over heard a family talking with a Petco associate as they were interested in buying a fish. The lady who assisted them questioned them about how big their tank was, what was inside and what other animals they had in the tank etc. The family answered her questions and then the Petco associate told the family that she couldn't sell them the fish they wanted. The family looked at her like she was crazy.The associate began to explain that she couldn't sell them the fish because based on their answers it wouldn't be fair to the fish and that its the store policy and she could get in trouble and be fired for not complying with the policy. After witnessing this I was in an "OMG" moment. But then soon after I realized that perhaps this made sense. It's too often that people buy or adopt animals and in some cases they end up not taking good care of them. Animals are living beings and deserve to be loved, taken care of and respected. When I adopted my sweet dog, Theodore-Kaimana from HHS, they asked me questions too. And I knew this was because they wanted to assure that he was going into a safe home. read more

I live in Ewa Beach and adopted a dog from the Humane Society in January, so I've been coming to this Petco since the day I brought my pup home. The staff here is always friendly and ready to help with any questions I have, and they always remember my dog and I. My dog they know by name, and me they remember by name sometimes. Once when I was in, my dog was hidden from view and the manager gave me a sad, "What, no Pabst today?" This goes for just about every staff member I have interacted with. I went in today for one last trip before I move to town next weekend, and the entire team was sad to see me go, reminding me that when the Beretania store gets busy, I can always hop in the car and come back out to visit them. They also let my dog into Puppy Play Time once, despite him being overage, because he's a whopping 6 lbs and was still the smallest dog in the area (of course, they verified that he's up to date on all his shots first). This team has been really wonderful in making my dog and I feel welcome in the store. I know it's just a pet store, but I'll certainly miss the customer service after I move. This was my first time bringing my dog into get groomed today and I have to say it was such a pleasant experience. Our groomer was Cheryl and she took such great care of lily! The price was right and when I went to pick her back up she looked so happy and beautiful. It only took about 2 and a half hours from the time I dropped her off and picked her back up. I was charged an extra fee for "sizzioring" her fur that couldn't be cut with the trimmer that I have never been charged before. They also didn't trim her enough and had to take her back to shave more off her after she had already been there over 3 hours. I just feel as it was a big stressor for her as she is a very timid anxious dog. read more

Honestly, my usual go to is Petsmart; however, my boyfriend and I were taking my dogs to the park, so everyone was already in the car (puppuccinos and all... thank you Starbucks). I forgot my dogs favorite ball, so I wanted to go to the nearest pet store. Luckily, there was a Petco literally down the street from the dog park in Ewa. Since this was my first time ever going into this Petco, I was lost in sauce. I was going down aisles (possibly the same aisle multiple times) trying to find the dog toys. When I finally found it, I grabbed those favorite balls for my pups, got distracted by some rawhide bones and thought to myself... "Well, it has been awhile since I got rawhide bones for my dogs... let's do this!" Grabbed them and dashed to the checkout line. I wanted to get a collapsible water bowl, but I didn't find any on my journey down the aisles; and so fate was made that day. My dogs would have to use the water bowl at the dog park... To my surprise, there was no line! That is until a couple was walking with one of the employees (it seemed as if he just finished helping them and was walking them up to the register). The employee looked at the couple he was helping and said, "I'm sorry, he's been waiting. Let me check him out first and I'll be right back to get you guys on your way." Even though it wouldn't have bothered me if he helped the couple first (since he was technically with them first), it was nice to see that he valued all of his customer's time and wasn't afraid to play fair. When he came to jump on the register, that's when I noted his name. Jon. Jon asked me if I found everything I needed. Without thinking I said, "Yes" (like most people do, whether or not satisfaction was attained). Zombies I say. Anyway, I decided to ask him if there were any collapsible water bowls, and he said, "Yes we do. Would you like me to show you?" Without time to answer he said, "Right this way, follow me." At first, I felt bad because he was now making the couple wait, but then again, this showed me that he truly cared about the customers. When Jon asked me if I found everything I needed, it wasn't coming from "because policy tells me to ask everyone" it was coming from a man that must not only love his job, but also someone who embodies genuine hospitality. This has been my first experience at a pet store where I honestly felt welcome - where an employee took his or her time to help someone, not because the customer asked but because the employee asked the customer. So thank you Jon for your hospitality. You are the reason that I will not only come back to your store specifically, but Petco in general. I'm sad to say I will never take my dog here to be groomed again. I have a Siberia Husky and stick to the usual shedless package. He gets this grooming 2x a year to help with blow out. The price goes up every time I take him. It started off at 80$ 2 years ago and now it's up to 93$. The last time I took him I added 15 more minutes of brush out. I get him home and he looks like he got a bath and exactly 15 mins of brush out. I call to find out why he looks like he has chunks of hair still left on him and they told me they charged me for a bath and brush out....which cost 92$. They can't stick to a price nor can they stick to what the customer requested and paid for. read more

My kids won four guppies at their elementary school's fundraising fair and all I kept thinking was: "WHY would you sentence these fish to a certain death?" Guppies one and two went bottoms up within three days, and guppies three and four looked like they were going to live out their fishy days together in peace. Then today I walked into our bathroom (where our little fish betta bowl is kept) to find my five year old huddled in a corner. There was water everywhere and when I asked what she was doing, she turned around to show me a dead guppy in her hand. Her reply: "He was too fat and he died." I later came to find out that my daughter wanted to "clean" the fish tank and the guppy refused to go "back in his tank." My daughter is a officially a certified fish killer, and we flushed poor Mr. Fat Guppy down the toilet. #RIPMrFatGuppy We decided to get lone guppy number four a friend at Petco and my children excitedly pointed to all the different fish they wanted to murder... errrr I mean, take care of. I told them we were only going to get one fish so our lone guppy could freak out in his tank and they could scream about their imminent doomsday together. Hey, this is what I'd want if I knew I was going to die but wasn't quite sure how or when! After exploring the tanks with fresh and salt water fish they looked the birds, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice and kittens. My five year old screamed with delight at the guinea pigs and I'm pretty sure she shortened the life of one of them as it scurried for cover at her screeching. My children begged to have all the different pets and I told them that if they couldn't take care of four guppies, how could they possibly expect to take care of a full fledged pet that needs more than a sprinkling of fish food? PetCo is a fun one stop shop for all your pet needs, but it took them waaaay too long to help us get a fish so we ended up leaving. I didn't want my five year old to scare all the animals to death and decided we needed to leave them be. Our poor little guppy number four is still alone in his tank and I hope to get him a new friend later this week. read more

This is my least favorite Petco on the island and it's the closest to my house! Damn! This location is so small, they don't offer military discount (like the one in Kapolei does), and the management is lazy! I came in to buy puppy food a few weeks ago and I grabbed a coupon from the front when I walked in. I went to the register to use the coupon and the supervisor asked where I got the coupon because it was expired. I laughed because I just grabbed it when I walked in! They had stacks of the coupons at the front and he acted surprise and as if it was not possible that I got it from there. I had to physically grab the stack and flip to the page with the coupon to show him. He had to ask his manager about honoring it and huffed and puffed while he rang up the discount. Why so irritated? Who cares...it's like $2.00 and you don't own Petco. It's not like it's your $2.00.... Anyways, let's be real here...of course they were going to honor it. Their mistake, not mine!
