Picked her up did you express the glands of gas all is good and they were so nice and I was elated she was clean nails teeth were done. A week later I called to ask for advice as her gland was inflamed. The manager I believe claimed they decided not to do the glands at the time of cleaning and there is no noted they did them so it is not their doing. That was so wrong. Went to get my dog a haircut today and took her shot records with us. Lauren said they couldn't take her shot records because they were written in pen I guess? When we have taken her with the exact same shot records before there was no issue. You could tell just from her demeanor that she just didn't want to cut our dogs hair. We have used these groomers before with satisfactory results and tried to make an appointment three times last week by leaving a message for a call back. our calls were never returned, so we called today and a manager said he'd walk the message over to the groomers. still no response. Even our favorite four-legged furball's deserve a little pampering. After a weekend of fun in the sun (and snow) Harley was a bit on the stinky side. Treated him to a Holiday Spa Service and much needed nail buff. Oh my, he came out smelling like a rainbow. Clipped and clean and well taken care of, i was very pleased with Maia's exceptional care and mindful attentiveness to Harley's sensitivity...his feet. I would definitely recommend Petco for grooming services. Though walk ins are accepted, it's more ideal to plan ahead and make reservations online. I advised I didn't want my dog shaved and my dog had a few matted areas I even asked if they could just shave those areas and leave the rest and they refused. DO NOT TRUST WITH YOUR PETS!!! Inhumane pet care and filthy grooming salon!!! I dropped off my dog to be groomed. They told me to expect a 3-4 hour wait (this is normal) when I hadn't heard back I decided to stop by after the 4 hour mark to check on my dog. They seemed surprised to see me and said "oh has it been 4 hours? We haven't started on your pet". They blamed their delay on the extreme emotional discomfort of my dog and the accident she had in the salon. They then told me my dog had been crated the whole time so she could calm down and become acclimated. My dog has been groomed countless times in her life and has never once had an issue. They never called to make me aware of the situation. They suggested I bring my animal back the next day so they could finish the service. I had to ask 3 times for the grooming manager to bring my dog to me. She then tried to charge me $75 for the lack of service I received. The groomer and grooming manager are extremely rude, unprofessional, and inexperienced with what they do. The store manager did not charge us for the lack of service. She blamed the miscommunication on the store being understaffed and too many grooming appointments booked. The girl working the cash register was very nice and professional. Absolutely DISGUSTING store. The problem with this location is pet urine stains EVERYWHERE. I thought about complaining to the staff or management about it, but the problem was so pervasive that it was evident that this is something upper management clearly doesn't have a handle on. I will not be going back to this location and I highly recommend that everyone stays away from this place. The only reason I'll be back is to find out if they fix this problem. If not, my next stop will be the Colorado board of health to report this hazard. Not only is it unsafe for health, but it confuses pets! It took FOREVER to train my dog not to urinate indoors and she is now excellent at it, but when I was in the store with her, she started to position herself to urinate on the urine in the store! I had to stop her. I fully expect a response to this complaint here on Yelp or I will take the actions above and update this review. This Petco has been one of my go-to locations over the years for my various pet needs. When you're the mom to three ferrets and two dogs you have a lot of needs! Ha! Star 1 - They have a wide variety of items offered for dogs! Especially when it comes to food! Plus, if you purchase a bag of food and your furry friend doesn't like it, you can return it (as long as there's 50% or more remaining)! Star 2 - The staff is incredibly knowledgeable! With our new puppy I've had quite a few questions around dietary, treat, and teething needs. They are always able to assist me with great ease. Thanks! Star 3 - The Pals reward program is awesome (even more so if you have a cat or dog)! For every $100 spent you get $5 back plus various coupons based on your purchasing habits. My mother sent me and my brother to this store, I went into the store expecting to get some cute fishies for our family fish tank. I told the lady I would like some guppies and she responded with "how old are you" I replied none of your business as she was a stranger and didn't feel comfortable expressing my age to her. She then refused to sell me any fish and I said that is silly because I was just here the other day and bought 3 African dwarf frogs and some ghost shrimp and she said that I looked too young. What happen to not being so discriminatory to customers? I'm just a girl who loves fish and wanted to make my mom happy. This store is outrageous, I wouldn't want to buy any fish anyways due to multiple of them having ich and I saw several deceased one floating in the tank. If I could leave NO stars I would. SOOO unprofessional! Left my Bichon to be groomed with the girl Joslyn. I should not have even left my dogs with her attitude to begin with. Literally had a bad attitude to begin with stating that he needed to be shaved down, ok your too lazy to brush him that's fine than shave his hair down. 10 min later I got a call stating she couldn't shave him because he kept sitting down???!? When someone a couple months ago had no problem grooming him. I also had my Lab getting washed and groomed and she had so many complaints as to why she couldn't do him either. I'm now leaving with my have shaved dog! So annoyed. If you go here hopefully they set your dog up with a better groomer. Beware if they say it's with Jos! It won't get done! read more

This review reflects my experience with the store located at 16960 E Quincy Ave Aurora, Co 80015. I had a rather upsetting experience with the grooming department at this location. I have used one groomer for almost 9 years as she is the only groomer I have used for my dog since I first adopted him almost 9 years ago. I have built a relationship of trust with her and how she cares from my dog while he is in grooming, something I know a lot of detail about having worked in Petco as a manager. I have followed this groomer to three stores now, even driving 45 minutes out of my way when another Petco is less than 10 from my home because that is the store that she works at now. I was happy to finally get my dog scheduled for an appoinment as her schedule has been booked up on the online portal. A week before the appointment I recieved a phone call that she would be on vacation and we would need to reschedule or I could have my dog see someone else for the original day. I stated that I preferred that she be the one who groomed my dog as she has been his only groomer for almost 9 years, even apologizing and recognizing that I know all the groomer staff help with the dogs that day but I really wanted him to be seen by her. So they said no problem we understand and booked us for the following week. Then I get a phone call on Monday that my groomer (they never said her name just my groomer) had some family emergency they needed to handle and that they wouldn't be available for my original appointment and offered me to have my dog groomed by someone else or to reschedule. Again I stated that I trusted and wanted my dog groomed by the specific groomer and that I would reschedule when she was available, I also said I understand life happens and hoped she was okay. So I get rescheduled for the same day just an hour and a half later. That seemed really weird to me but I said okay he's been groomed by me during covid he needs a real grooming. So I arrive today 10/30/2020 for my appointment with who I thought was my dogs groomer for the past 9 years only to find out that I was not in fact booked with her because she's been sent to another location (which I would have been willing to drive to even though it's over an hour away from my home). I only found out that she was no longer at this location because after waiting 30 minutes to be checked in for our appointment, no one came out to greet us even though we were 10 minutes early. I called her cell to see if everything was okay since she's was "dealing with a family emergency". This is how I found that she had been transferred and that even though I had stated multiple times I wanted my dog groomed by her they had booked me with some complete stranger that I did not know. We walked out. This is not ok. This is not how you build customer loyalty and repeat buisness. I've worked in customer service for over 15 years, 2 years as a manager at Petco. Peoples pets are their babies and they put a lot of trust into groomers hands and for them to ignore that I had stated that she was the only one I trusted is wrong. For them to schedule my dog with a groomer I have never meet or spoken with is wrong. I'm not sure what is going on at this location but this is not how your handle things. Horrible store. I will be ending my vital care plan. Most of the food is just piled up on stock carts. There's not even room to see the fish due to all the dog food that just sits around everywhere. Secondly, the cashier lady decided to take a personal phone call. While I had wait for her for longer than 20 min just to ask where the bathroom is located. I would highly recommend not shopping at this location here in southlands. The crew is lazy, the Petco kibble is shitty and the crew members also mistreat animals. I made an appointment to groom my dog a month ago because that's how long they were "booked out." Now five days before the appointment, they cancel telling me it will be another month before they can make another appointment. We have been loyal customers both for grooming and pet supplies. Came here tonight to exchange an item. Apparently the store was closing early AGAIN for staffing shortages. I saw a lady and her daughter walk in right before me. A worker came to me and said they were closed. I told her someone just walked in. She said she just had words with them. (In a very rude manner). I try to shop in the area but this location closes early a lot and has food and other items piled throughout the store all the time not even put away. Took our two golden retrievers here today for the very first time. We weren't welcomed. We were simply told that we were too early and would have to wait for our groomer to show up. Our groomer? Who knew. We stood around for 20 minutes until we were graced with the presence of our groomer. We should have escaped then! We told them what we wanted and it took 20 minutes for the groomers to agree on a plan of action. Cut them short for the summer without shaving them. How is that so difficult? We were told that it would be about $300 for both dogs. CRAZY!!!!! We switched to a bath with feet trimming. We picked them up (still wet) with feet NOT TRIMMED and got charged $104.00. Unlike the other reviewers, I like this Petco. Though I haven't ever had my dogs groomed there. It's in the Southlands mall and I think it's pretty nice, but Petcos are pretty much the same everywhere. It's where I go to get my specialty pet food. My dogs are allergic so I have to get Salmon/Potato and Lamb/Rice food. Petco is one of the only places that carries the right kinds. read more

ZERO STARS - I took my small dog to the Petco at Southlands - store #1434 The Petco groomer, Joslyn aka Jos, was extremely rude and unprofessional to me. When I gave Pearl to her, she was VERY rough. She basically said she couldn't brush her because her hair was matted!!?? She had maybe 3 or 4 small spots but that's why she was there, to get them taken care of, and to get shampooed and cut. This is their JOB! This Jos person was so rough brushing my small dog Pearl, a Maltese, she was almost hitting her with the brush, leaving her with red skin and brush burns. I told Joslyn to immediately give me my dog back. Pearl was basically shaking in terror. I complained to Chris the store manager and all he did was give me lip service. He said there is always two sides to any story, but refused to talk to Joslyn while I was there, so he had NO interest in resolving this and obviously does not care about the store's customers. We will NEVER give that store our business again. Anyone bringing their animals to that grooming place needs to be careful. Who knows what she does if the owner isn't there watching. This Petco has been declining in customer service quite fast. During my visit I was falsey educated on two training collars that I thought were what I needed. So, I purchased the two $150 training collars. Declining my receipt... (yes my fault) to find out they were too small, and that they didn't even sell what I was there for!.... I tried to return them or simply swap them out, and the manager was very unprofessional and short with me. Stating I should not have opened these boxes at all if I wanted a return and anything behind glass is unreturnable... ( they were in perfect shape) I was there literally yesterday! I stopped in on Monday mid-morning. I was not very impressed to be honest. The lighting was either turned off or not working. The store was dark, depressed. It was not a pleasant feeling. They were also stocking shelves, or had plans to. There were palettes all over the place with items to stock. The staff wasn't overly friendly. 0 stars if I could. I've bought two bearded dragons from here. One is completely healthy and a total sweetheart. The other one died after less than a month of having him from Adenovirus. Which means that the other 15 or so lizards in the same enclosure most likely had the same illness. Went in today to look at the hamsters. There were only a few to choose from, not a lot of selection so I decided to take a peak at the bearded dragons again. First off, they should NOT BE KEPT ON LOOSE SUBSTRATE AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE. It can cause impaction and KILL THEM. That's assuming they live long enough to be killed by that. They all looked sick, underweight, could barely open their eyes. 0 stars. The absolute worse experience dealing with their staff. No dog knowledge or experience. They classify any timid dog as aggressive to turn you down to get a longer lunch break. My 1 year old Maltese puppy who was a bit shy was seen as aggressive without barking or trying to bite. He just turned away from the groomer and they refused to take him, saying that was an aggressive dog. They knew it would be a bit harder to trim him so why do it. I understand people working there don't really care about their job but please have some standards. read more

Went to petco to get crickets for my bearded dragons. I usually go in and they are in a bag ready for me to get. I asked an associate and she told me to go up front to ask the cashier. I asked the cashier aka Karen (a little unsure of what I needed) and she was very rude to me. She talked to me like I was stupid and like I didn't know what I was doing. Took our Schnauzer there for grooming, never ever again. We had a bad groom there the time before last, but just assumed he was tangled because he had some health issues. Took him this time, was extra careful to brush him every other day and we was tangle free. They shaved out poor dog from head to toe and charged us for additional detanglement. I tried to book grooming for my dog online, saw the price of $35 for a bath and thought that seemed reasonable. This, by the way, is not the lowest price I would have ever paid for having my dog groomed but is in the same ballpark at least. They didn't have any appointment available for current day, so I called to see if they could fit me in. They had an opening and I was booking it but decided to verify the advertised $35 bath and was told no, that they couldn't guarantee that's what it would cost. I understand that prices should vary for breeds that are smaller/larger and have different temperaments or coat types/lengths, but that price on their website is $35 and it doesn't have any small print at all as to what might cause that to change. I finally got the woman to confess that the price would probably be more like $50 or more for my dog, who is just under 70 pounds. Regardless of whether or not everyone agrees that is priced well or not, I generally get my dog groomed really nicely for $28 but just wanted to get her in today, spur of the moment, so considered Petco. $35 was advertised and was in my price range, $50 is outside of my price range. This is without any additional services, which I also needed to purchase. So, it was just more than what they said and it does seem like false advertising to me. read more
