We had a very good experience at Aurora Animal Hospital and with Dr Trujillo. Unfortunately we had to have our cat put down and she was so kind and gentle and respectful in her handling of the process. We realize this is a fairly common service, but she made a really hard situation alot easier and pet euthanization is a service I feel some people take for granted. We would recommend Dr Trujillo highly. read more

This is a mixed review, great care for my animals, but the med cost is confusing. I will talk about one drug that my dogs will need for a long time, Incurin tablets (estriol) pee meds. GoodRX pet vs office payout. I am an Army veteran, 100% disabled and live on my enlisted military pension, not getting rich, more on the poverty side. At the office each pack of 30 costs 50.00 and I have two dogs taking two pills daily, so I need them every two weeks costing me 200.00 a month just for this pills. Now at GoodRX pet these drugs are 25.00 for 30 tablets, meaning it would only cost 100.00 a month to order these drugs from GoodRx... let me tell you the rest of the story. So GoodRx says we can call the vet and have them approve this or they can give you a script and send it in, I chose have them call the Vet. Vet office tells them we no longer do this over the phone he must pick up a script.... No problem, called and said can you do the script, yes you can pick it up later. What does the script say, good for only 2 fills! Meaning every month I will have to get a new script from the office send it in and have possible delays in getting the med or pay the 200.00 cost, just making this inconvenient for myself. These times we are in, we all feel the crunch... now if you don't want me getting mail order drugs, then lower your price, GoodRX is still making a profit at 25.00 a pack, lower your price to 30.00 and I will pay that at your office. What I feel is by making me send a script in monthly to get my dogs meds, you are trying to penalize me for trying to save 100.00 a month, I am real confused. You can say, well the dog may not need the meds and that's why we limit you... yet I have to take my dogs in monthly for a blood test to make sure it's needed and not harmful to my pups or at the well check.... So if you tell me at the appointment the dog doesn't need the meds do you think I will still give it to them? Really confused. Maybe I am asking too much, a fair price to help me save money. I know folks think us military folks are not the brightest, I will agree I may not be as smart as someone with a degree... but something just doesn't seem right. I have no problem spending thousands a year on my pets health and wellbeing, I think this office treats my pets well... I am just lost why I need to pay 1200.00 extra a year for just one med. read more

We've been bringing our pets to Aurora Animal Hospital since 2017, and the care we've received over the years has been nothing short of exceptional. We now have two pups, and we wouldn't trust anyone else with their care. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and Dr. Rudolph is truly wonderful. She never makes us feel rushed and always takes the time to explain everything in a way that's easy to understand. You can tell she genuinely cares about her patients and isn't just trying to get through appointments quickly. One thing that really stands out is how the hospital is set up with separate sides for dogs and for cats/exotics. It's such a thoughtful detail that helps create a calmer environment for all the animals coming in. Check in procedure has been changed to waiting in your car until called in when the vet is ready. Any procedure, even removal of a baby tooth, requires dropping your pet off in the morning and picking your pet up in the afternoon. I have the impression that this vet is more concerned with what is convenient for them rather than what is convenient for their customers. I will be looking for a new vet. read more

Great vet office. I cannot praise Dr. Hennessy enough. Outside of a cool name, she is an absolute top notch doctor and my husband and I have trust in her judgement with all of our pets. We had the unfortunate timing of having to put down our senior chihuahua, Chewy, in Sept 2025 and that was the first time we met Dr. Hennessy and the team. Right away they were totally empathetic to the situation and treated our senior boy as if they had been seeing him for years. With that experience we have fully committed to this vet practice and continue to bring out two dogs and cat. read more

Don't take your pet there unless you have a fat wallet. I have paid $400 for a thyroid test. The test showed a low T4 and a higher TSH reading. She is a Doberman and they have a hair loss problem caused by low T4 which runs through the breed. I asked for a prescription of T4 replacement from Dr. Rudolph and she refused to give it to me relying on two numbers as a reason my dog doesn't have a T4 issue. My research shows she doesn't know anything about the problem. It is a complicated problem and all symptoms and lab readings need to be taken into account. The hair loss on my dog is severe a symptom that there is a thyroid issue. Her answer was to see a specialist or get a biopsy of the skin, a $900 test. I said we have enough information to work on. Being uncooperative, she just wanted me to spend more money. Screw this place, I am going elsewhere. read more

Aurora Animal Hospital was recommended to my fiancé and I when we moved to the neighborhood and got a new puppy. We brought our adult dogs first and overall had a good experience. It was when we brought our puppy that we began to have questions. You don't see the same Dr each time. The second vet that we saw was very adamant that we needed to neuter him immediately in the coming weeks (he was just 10 weeks old). It was prescriptive, not a discussion. On our next visit, we saw a different vet who understood and agreed with our hesitancy of neutering a large breed at 12 weeks old. She talked us through the studies about impacts of removing growth hormones in large breed dogs before they are actually grown and we agreed together to wait. Honestly, this was the type of informational and collaborative relationship we wanted with a vet. We were told that the first vet came from a background of shelters/rescues so preventing population growth was important to her. While we don't disagree with that, we did expect our vet to provide info and options specific the best interest of our dog rather than her priorities. We would also expect a clinic that had vets working together would have some standardization on studies and what to recommend as bes practices for dogs so that we as clients would not receive radically different recommendations based on which doctor we happen to see. We initially stayed because all three of our dogs had been seen and were on vaccination schedules but when it came time to actually neuter our boy, we opted to change practices when we received the estimate. We've paid for specialists, prescription diets etc. so do not believe that we re especially conservative when it comes to spending money on our pets. Still, we were shocked at the estimate which turned out to be significantly higher than other vets (not spay and neuter clinics) in the area. Again, while I understand, the high cost of specialists and a lot that vets do, this was a basic neuter. When I provided feedback that the cost was way more than I would expect I was told the cost included checking in on the patient after the surgery to make sure he was OK. It seems like a very odd thing to imply that you don't check on the patient unless an additional cost is paid. in the end, we did change practices and have found a great collaborative relationship with our vet. We completed our neuter for substatically less and it included the surgery, recovery and aftercare, laser therapy, meds and a surgical suit rather than a cone. read more

The techs and vets always make you feel welcome, are very thorough in exams and explanations. They always recommend various alternatives whether it be providing things from home or they always have easy to get items at their office. They're truly there to take care of your pet. My rabbit was not doing well and needed to be euthanized. The entire staff was so caring and lovely during the difficult time. They made sure that we had a quiet place and even put us on the closed side of the so that it was quiet while I said goodbye. I'm so thankful that they were able to get him in quickly and help him pass peacefully. They are not my regular vet as I live about 45 mins away but as it was a Sunday, I didn't have many choices of open vets and especially who would see a rabbit quickly. read more

The vaccines and office visit prices are on par with other local vets. However, I was quoted a rather high price for teeth cleaning. September 2022 my mother passed away, December 2022 my father followed her. February 2023 my brother took his life, after his son he loved his little chihuahua Loki more than anything in the world. My brother's wife gave me Loki. Getting lost in grief and the duties of it all I'm embarrassed to say I neglected having Loki see a doctor. He has been my constant companion, neither of us left each other's side, I honestly couldn't tell you which one of us is more co-dependent on the other. Once things settled down I made an appointment to update Lokis shots, he also had a bump on his leg. First let me tell you Loki wants nothing to do with anyone but me, but he was perfectly content to go with the Dr and tech each time they needed to take him. The lump turned out to be cancer. They worked quickly and were able to operate within 2 days. Not even knowing I was handing over the last link I had to my entire family and my best friend to them everyone was so kind to both Loki and me, he was cared for with love. Thank you Aurora Animal Hospital that tonight I have him curled up in my lap and God willing will have him for many years to come thanks to your quick action and care. Super frustrated that the receptionist did not tell me that my same-day visit was considered a "emergency" visit and that the price would be $100 versus $78. If I had known that I would've made the appointment for tomorrow. I spoke to the manager, who told me that the receptionist should have given me the price structure of which she did not. Then the manager told me I could go ahead and rebook the appointment for tomorrow. Really? I had already been waiting 45 minutes for the appointment. I have had good experiences over the last few years with all of my visits and was extremely disappointed in this one. No one cared if I would ever show up again at their office. Aurora Animal Hospital is absolutely amazing. We have Guinea pigs and over the past year have sadly had 2 pass away on us. The first one was very unexpected and the first pet loss my son has ever gone through. They were amazing with my son who was 12 at the time. They answered all of his questions and led the entire situation with extreme care and understand for his emotional state. Yesterday we lost our second little Guinea and as amazing as the team was the first time they were just as amazing this time. I recently took Oreo in to her normal Vet to be Spayed. A week later Oreos ruptured her sutures. I called her vet at they wouldn't see her because there was some blood. Yes, I may have typed in the incorrect phone number for the review, but I do believe the following screen shot of the call log to the office on Aug 28th shows I called the correct number 4 times (303-680-7305) and continued to receive the automatic answering service. 2. At 1203 (when an actual person answered the phone), I was told our appointment was at 1230, not 12pm as I originally thought. I NEVER ASKED TO BE SEEN EARLY TO MAKE THAT ABUNDANTLY CLEAR. When we were made aware we were early, we told the CSR it was fine, and went to get coffee. 3. When we returned at 1230, instead of trying to call AGAIN and receive the same message, I went in to make the CSRs aware we were there for our appointment and would wait in our car until the vet techs came to retrieve our pets (bear in mind it was 90 degrees outside). Was told that we were checked in. 4. Placed a call at 1245, since no one had come out to retrieve our cats AND HAD NOT RECEIVED A CALL, I was told (and I quote) "Dr Peterson Is running behind", as I was watching other owners walk into the lobby with their pets and being taken back to exam rooms. That seems pretty unprofessional for a business not to keep their patients aware of the delay in their appointments, but I get things happen, and went to wait in the car. 5. I reached my boiling point (it takes A LOT for that to happen) when I saw the 4th patient entering the building and taken back to an exam room. Went into the lobby to speak to the CSRs AGAIN, and was told (again I quote) "Dr Peterson is running behind and needed to take a lunch". I completely understand that, but YOU COULDNT HAVE CALLED TO LET ME KNOW OR GIVEN ME THE OPTION TO RESCHEDULE?!?! Again, I work in healthcare and we at least respect our patients enough for that common courtesy. I'm assuming that's a little too much for your front desk workers to do. As this is the 3rd time I've had to deal with this when appointments are scheduled (and we won't go into the time when our chihuahua had an emergency DURING OPERATING HOURS OF THE CLINIC and was referred to an emergency vet clinic instead of being examined for the abscesses anal gland which I'm sure could've been treated at AAH), I've had enough of the poor service and the condescending tone of the "response from the business". I love this hospital! I bring both my golden retriever and French bulldog here. I started bringing my golden retriever here a few years ago when we first moved to Colorado for regular routine visits. The prices are fair. My golden has had some health issues along the way and they have always been extremely proactive and I never felt like they were after me for money by performing unnecessary treatments or tests. They do surgery there as well as X-rays or ultrasounds. They do have specialist who work there or they bring in. I always feel as though they treat my fur babies as there own family. Never do they push anything on me and they always have great solutions and the drs are very proactive about communicating and chatting on the phone. I never feel rushed which is great because believe me I ask a lot of questions! After being there a few years and trying different Drs, I decided my favorite was Dr. Rudolph! She is so thorough and so precise. I can't say enough good things about her! When I book my appointment I always ask for her. Also, they are there on the weekends which is pretty awesome too and they are open late! I highly recommend! read more

We have been patients at Aurora Animal hospital for over two years now. The staff at AAH is amazing. They are warm, loving, and truly love what they do. Sadly we had to help our cat Bella cross the rainbow bridge, but the staff was incredible the entire time. They made sure our sweet girl was comfortable, allowed me to stay with her, and explained every part of the process. The vet was even tearing up when it was over. Our dog Bailey is also a patient and is always treated wonderfully when we go in. We now have two new cats who are also seen at AAH and they love going to the vet. Overpricing for simple procedures and not resolving your issues so that you have to go back and pay them more money. I remember now why I stopped taking my pets there! Unfortunately, my dog had an emergency and they were the only place close to us that were opened on Sunday. They could've done the right thing by just cutting his hurt, bleeding toenail and my dog would've healed with meds they had given, but two weeks later, toenail is still bleeding. I took him to my regular vet and he laughed when I told him how much I had paid for incident. He cut my dog's bad bleeding toenail which he said needed to have been cut from the start and he was given antibiotics again since he got another infection from not being treated correctly at Aurora Animal Hospital and all of this for the price of $43 vs. $180 (Aurora AH charges $75 consultation for Sunday visit). read more

At first i loved them and was so excited to have a vet that would love my little dog as mush as me. Boy was i wrong! My girl is 10 years old with a level 5 heart murmur and MUST be on medication. This is now the 4th time of having issues getting her meds filled ON TIME! They give excuses EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Cool but my dogs heart doesn't care. I have not gone the online ordering route because of fear of delivery delay. Jokes on me. COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR PATIENTS!!!! We have never been here before but the receptionist was very kind and soft spoken when going over euthanasia costs with me on the phone. I decided to go to this clinic simply because the price she quoted me was cheeper than the first place I called. And I am so grateful I decided to have him taken here. They were about 10 minutes from closing time and initially I was warned that my roommate may just have to drop him off and wouldn't be able to stay for the euthanasia due to time. The doctors and staff were so kind that they stayed late so my roommate could be there with him Not only did they get me a complimentary clay paw print, but upon checking out the cost was MUCH lower than the price I was quoted, they may have waved a fee. And that's always nice when having to say goodbye. As if those kindnesses weren't enough, I go check my mail today and there is this sweet little card in there *crying like a baby* Thank you Aurora Animal Hospital for loving my cotton boy as if hey was your own. With a recent visit to the office the doctors spent less the 10 mins trying to save the life of a dying animal. They did not check with us on price before administering life saving medicine and procedures. After the short time they had the animal we then were notified that the life left and faced with a steep bill. The lack of concern is really what hits the hardest during a emotional period. Feel like it could have been handled better from the provider. Tough scenario for everyone involved and something others will face, want to advise to ask multiple questions so the animal hospital doesn't bamboozle any other animal owners. read more

I've never written a review before and i didn't even have a yelp account until like 5 minutes ago haha but after everything I just experienced, all of this has to be said. (Sorry it's kinda long) I have a yard with a really big tree in it. The tree is known to be home to many squirrels as I hear them run on my roof in the mornings and see them quite often outside near my porch. My dog has always been very friendly and has NEVER hurt anyone or anything. Today when I woke up, I took him out and went back inside as I usually do. I heard him barking so I went outside to let him in but he wasn't near the door and instead he was near my neighbors' house. I went over to look at what he was barking at and saw a squirrel pinned against a corner. I put my dog inside and went back out to check if the squirrel was okay. It seemed scared so I put out granola and almonds for it and went back inside so it could have time to eat without being disturbed or scared by my presence. Every so often I would check if it's okay and it wouldn't move from that corner. It was actually alive as I could see it breathing and it would make eye contact with me when I was near it but it wouldn't move. I even tried to grab a long stick to just scare it away and go back to its home. It refused and would just let me push it and have no reaction. I wasn't sure what could've been wrong with it since I didn't see any blood or bite marks that my dog could've made. I called this vet and informed them on what just occurred and they assured me that I can just bring it in whenever I catch it and they would do everything they could to make sure it's okay. They walked me through what I should do to capture the squirrel and even explained some tips like to try not to speak while it's in the box so it won't startle it even more. The squirrel let me pick it up with a big t shirt and gloves. I brought it in and they did not charge me since it was a rescue/wild animal. I donated some money because they were just so helpful. They thanked me and reassured me that even if it couldn't be saved I did the right thing by bringing it in because it could be put down in a humane way (so it won't suffer) instead of it slowly dying outside in the cold. I filled out a form with what happened and left my phone number. They said I should get a call with an update in an hour or so and that if they are able to save the squirrel they will work with a rehabilitation center to release it back into the world in a nearby park by my address that I also left on the form. The staff members at the front desk were extremely nice and helpful! They 100% deserve a raise. I'm not sure if this review will help at anyone at all but I will definitely be coming back to this vet if I ever have an encounter with a small injured wild animal!!! :) read more

This is the only vet we have been to that has given us a quote for EVERYTHING including post operative care! They are affordable and truly want you to have financial transparency at each visit, which has been amazing. I wasn't able to schedule another Vetco clinic due to time constraints and the fact that their staff (specifically their vet dr.) would refuse outright to give the pup his vaccine due to his aggressive behavior. Their vet at the Vetco place would not work with us or even recommend tips/alternatives to help us even though I schedule more than a month in advance! I'd never heard of this place before but I got a parrot and was looking for a parrot specialist, I was given Dr. Strickland who was AMAZING I've never had such a nice, and educated vet she gave me PARROT RECIPES and was so confident in exactly what my bird needs I would 100% trust her with any of my animals my bill was also not as expensive as I thought it would be so I think they're reasonably priced which is hard to find in a vet read more
