Brought my dog to be washed. The groomer said her stomach was matted and she was recommanding to have it shedded. I aggreed. 2 hours later she called saying she was recommanding her back to be also shedded. I don't know why i said yes knowing that my dog had only 2 or 3 knots on her back. When i went to pick her up, i found my dog completely shedded, including her face, and head. I asked also when i brought my dog not to touch her tail or the length of the hair on her ears. Guess what was done? All the wort that was done, was only done for what was the easiest for the groomer. Not thinking about what should be done for the dog breed. Or the requests of the owner. Please do not bring your dog to be groomed at this place. read more

Pet Valu - The cat I adopted she's so cute - Pet Stores Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

This Pet Valu is my go to! The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. As a first time cat owner, I have had a lot of questions and I can always rely on the staff at this location to educate me on the differences in litter types, the most interactive new toys and the best kind of food for my pal's optimal health and well being. Recently, I temporarily acquired a lizard while my friend was away on vacation. I know NOTHING about reptiles. A very helpful and passionate employee at this location took her time to help me figure out what kind of reptile I was dealing with and how to keep it from dying over the 3 weeks my friend was away. 3 weeks later, he's not dead, my friend is home and bugs still make me squeamish. Also, they have the spunkiest shop cat at this location. Her name is Toffee and she pretty much runs the place. Go say hi to her! read more

I came into the store to wash my dog, because 80 for a bath is just way too much for me to pay. It cost 10$ to wash your dog, and 13 (after tax) if you want to use the dryer.. . in my experience, use the dryer!!. The staff was extremely helpful, showed me everything i needed, and told me not to clean up anything!! I like the sounds of that. I have a standard poodle which is quite a tall dog. The bath was beautiful. actually quite nicer then the one in my apartment, and had a harness to hold you dog in place and stairs for them to get in. I was able to use as much soap as I liked, and they had about 6 varieties to choose from. They offer 2 towels with this, which isn't enough if you're not using the dryer, but any sane person would so that wasnt a problem. They had all the brush tools you would ever need, and they came back twice to check in on me and make sure I had everything I needed. I would definitely come back again the next time my pup needs a bath. for 13$ and an hour and a half, I don't see why anyone would waste their time going to a groomer. read more

It seems as though my experiences here have been totally different from that of my fellow Yelper. I recently fostered a special needs cat who was still on special food for a urinary track infection due to abuse and neglect. He had come with a small, bag of food and I wanted to see if this location carried it. During my visit here I found the staff very nice, patient and knowledgeable. It turns out my cat is on a special vet brand but the girl was still helpful by suggesting like-products and alternate foods that could be suitable for him. In the end I left with a few cans of premium cat stew which the associate explained will help my cat get more moisture since he hates his water and his regular food is dry kibble. She went over suggested portions, meal times etc... All in all it was a good visit and I would recommend this location to friends. read more

I am so glad for this place - because it eliminates the need to travel up to Dufferin mall or the strange little grocery store/pet food store around the corner of King & Dufferin. Besides the convenience factor(which is great, because when I just realize that I have no cat food an forgot to get more, I can run out in the PJ and pick'em up in a snap), here is actually someone I can talk to every so often when I have a question - whether it is a satisfying answer or not, that is better than a big "I dunno shrug" that you would get from the aforementioned places. Another thing i really like here is the friendliness of the staff - they are always willing to help you, offer advices and help you carry things to the counter - which, is part of the job title but often over looked by those who hold that sales associate title. They aren't open until too late but just late enough to pick up the essentials on your way home from work, and open 7 days I believe...yes - have a visit. it's good there. read more

I'm so glad Pet Valu decided to re-vamp it's image. Once upon a time Pet Valu stores were grungy and jam-packed. Now their franchise has a new look and organizational paradigm. It really makes shopping much more pleasant. I really love this location because of the owners -- they are hard-working, dedicated people, willing to go the extra mile for their clients. Their delivery system is great. We don't have a car, so when I need a 11kg bag of dog food... or two... they will drop them off at my door for $10. The owners deliver their orders themselves each Friday afternoon... the poor guy hauled both bags up our front steps by himself (I hope he doesn't develop a hernia). Last month I purchased some food but forgot a couple coupons at home. When I brought them in later with the receipt, the owner said she couldn't refund the difference (which is fine - it's my fault for forgetting the coupons). Instead, she extended the expiry dates and said I could use them for future purchases. Awesome. Not to be a snob, but I also like that Pet Valu carries some of the more "premium" dog foods. I like to see what's new and try some of the other high-protein brands. Our location now sells beef marrow bones as well. This is great because I was walking to Global separately to get bones. Now it's a one-stop-shop. Lastly, they have a self-serve doggy bathing station. It's an all-tile area with two bathing tubs, a walk-up ramp (no lifting) and spacious drying area (doggy blow dryer included). Plus they have a selection of shampoo and conditioners to choose from. read more

I don't buy the grocery store brand of cat litter or cat food for my guy. So I stopped in to find my beloved pine cat litter and get some extra deliciousness for my furry baby. They carry all kind of alternative cat litters, I'm so glad! And the staff was really helpful when I asked about low protein foods. I really felt like they took their time with me to look through a bunch of labels on the foods to find what I wanted and what would be best for my guy. Location is convenient if you take transit, as it's right on the corner of King and Dufferin. There are also bike racks right outside. I'll be coming back! read more

The $10 dog bath station is amazing. There are two stations so you almost never have to wait. The facility is really clean and they provide everything you would need (shampoo, two towels, treats, brushes, even cotton balls to clean ears!). The 'bakery' section also has a great variety of home-made treats for dogs. read more

Good food selection for my puppy. Always helpful and very knowledgeable enthusiastic stuff. There support for other pet vendors need some improvements. Maybe it is there policy not to take sides. Otherwise great location. read more

They make a big issue and refuse to offer the same 5% discount that every other store offers on packages of wet cat food. Which makes a different when you're buying 100$-200$ of cat food. Staff is nice but I'll be going to PerValue on Bloor now and avoiding this store. read more

First time in here I originally was looking for a crate for our new puppy. I asked one of the young girls a question about the crates they offered, although she seemed confused and unsure about the crates at all. She did though find someone else in the store who could answer our questions. The lady was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions but scurried away quickly since she was busy doing something else. I then was looking for further assistance in which we met the owner at the front counter. She was very kind and helped us with all of our initial questions about what was needed for our first little puppy. She even suggested ways for us to save by providing us with coupons for our next visit and purchases. Second time in this store I met this young lady who took time to go through all of the food options for our new puppy. she too, was very knowledgeable and very kind. she truly helped me select what was perfect for my new puppy, and felt she was straight forward, honest and a delight to deal with. I wish I got her name, but she had short blond hair, and want to say she had an Australian accent maybe? She deserves credit as she did a wonderful job taking time to explain everything to me in detail and make suggestions based on her experience and knowledge. since both the owner and this young lady were such a pleasure to deal with, I will now make this place my go-to shop for all of my puppy's needs. Thank you ladies for your help during my inquisitive stage of new puppy-motherhood, you are the reason I will refer your location to all my friends and family. definitely a returning customer! :) read more
