It was quite pricey but that's not unexpected since we wanted the typical show cut on our bichon which takes a lot of skill and time plus I wanted to keep her fur relatively long. I came here with an appointment today at 1:00pm for the first time. Not disappointed! I was greeted by friendly staff/ owners. You'll need their certificate of vaccinations and stuff for them to keep a copy of upon first time. My main concern was how the groomer would treat my puppy. Everything else comes second. They really treated my puppy with great care and you can tell they care about their job. I was told to come back at 4:30pm via text message to pick her up. That's a good 3.5 hours of getting cleaned up. Most places spend only 2.5 hours on her max. Her hair was fluffy and smooth like never before. I was so amazed! I asked them to keep the hair on mouth/nose area longer ( so she looks more like a teddy bear )but they trimmed it a bit shorter than what I would have preferred but I don't really care. Hair condition on fleek! She's around 8 pounds heavy and 8 months old - miniature poodle. The price came up to 75 plus tax which is 15 more than what I've been paying but that's okay too because when I went to pick her up, she didn't want to leave! She was having so much fun. So worth every penny. But she was still left with a lot of hair on her body. No biggie. I also saw on their website that you get 5% off if you book monthly appointments. I really like this groomer! Was my first experience with a groomer for my bernese mountain dog puppy. I took him at 4 months old. It was important to me to have my puppy not kennelled waiting to be groomed and obviously to not be man handled. The staff (owners) were so supportive and friendly towards him. They did a wonderful job and were so gentle with him. When I came back after the grooming session, my puppy was happy and his tail was wagging. They didn't put him in a kennel. He was out and about waiting for me to pick him up after the groomer. They do appointment to appointment, so no dog has to wait. They took free pictures of him in the bath and after the bath! I was surprised and pleased at that! They were great for advice on how often to bathe my puppy, chuck. (I asked) We were bathing him too often. Brushing everyday is best they offered. And 1-2 baths a month works. We've been doing that and his coat has been amazing! They recommended grooming about every 8 weeks for him. Can't say enough good things. The staff were not pushy on products or what I should be doing, they were very polite, professional, kind and you can tell they love dogs/animals. My absolute favourite new spot to take my pups! I found this place on Instagram (just randomly by typing in Groomer's Markham or Groomer's Richmond Hill) after not being very satisfied with my other groomer's. I have a very old Maltese (14 years old) who is now both blind and (mostly) deaf - due to this, she gets scared easily and needs reassurance. The groomers were more than happy to listen and even asked lots of questions about her, and wanted to know lots of details to ensure she was safe and sound during her grooming appt. This made me feel more trusting towards leaving her with them! The second pup is a very young French Bulldog (1 year old) who has never had problems with going to the groomers. He just needed his nails trimmed, and a shower. He was shedding a lot, so the groomers recommended that they do a skin massage to help promote blood flow - which sounded like something he would enjoy! I dropped both of them off at 2PM on a Friday (and made my appt very easily online) and went to pick them up (around 2 hours later). They were SO happy, and seemed happier than when I had initially dropped them off!! I'm SO happy with their amazing service, friendly attitudes, and most of all: the fact that my dogs were happier and more beautiful when i came to pick them up. This is my new go-to! read more

I would like to preface this post by saying I have always relied on google reviews before trying a new place whether it be restaurants or shops and never have I encountered something where the reviews are near perfect and yet from my personal experience it is far from. It does make one wonder how it got rated so high. I feel I have been misled by google. Took my puppy Bo Lo Bao this past Tuesday I had booked a couple of weeks ago. Was told over the phone it would be around $100. Signed a couple of pieces of papers before leaving the shop and advised Gabriel (the owner/groomer) do not cut too short. Got a text about an hour an a half later saying he's ready for pick up. I almost cried when I saw my dog because his hair was so short and cut to almost to his skin. The bill presented to me was $180. Why? Was told my puppy was matted and was he was not cooperative so these are the extra charges. Please bare in mind this is a small Shitzu/Maltese mix. A small dog. How much matting and how much trouble could he have caused? Should I pay a surcharge? Maybe. $80 more? I don't think so. And to just bill me without texting or calling me in advance to advise or even to ask if I would like to continue.. is not only wrong but it is unethical. $198 was the total because stupid me, and I cannot forgive myself for this, is that I even tipped him on top of that ridiculously bad cut and extreme price he charged me. We belong to a group of dog owners who meet up daily and I wished I spoke to them prior to taking my dog because there were not one but three people who told me they experienced something similar and would never go back. So it does make me wonder how many more people in our neighbourhood have been scammed by this establishment and how they are rated so high on google. Go if you must but I, like the people I have talked to, Guau will not make another dollar from me. read more

I really like Guau! I've been coming here since my dog was a pup, I think ever since '16. They really care about your dog and they treat them like family. My dog is a Pomeranian and he has a double coat and they always do a good job cutting his coat! I always want it on the shorter side, but they are careful not to cut it too short as it will damage his coat. My dog always comes out looking like he's made out of 3 balls because he's so round lol. I've always groomed her myself in the past, but wanted to spoil her a little bit and I am absolutely glad that I did! First of all, it's important to know that Guau is by appointment only which I originally didn't realize, but the owner Gabriel was able to accommodate me in for the day because of an opening in the schedule. We did a quick consultation to make sure that she was up to date on all her shots, and we talked about what style of grooming I wanted for her. From there, I left her in their care and they texted me a few hours later letting me know that she was ready to be picked up. When I came back to pick her up, I was greeted by the cutest and softest looking girl I have ever laid eyes on! I used to think I did a pretty good job grooming her myself, but this was on another level. We're up in Markham visiting family and our pup Ruby needed a grooming session BAD. Ruby usually gets groomed every two to three months but we had let it go a little longer than normal and her winter coat was really weighing her down. The team at Guau was great. They're super friendly and handled our anxious dog very well. Ruby left feeling super fresh and looking VERY nice. Great cut perfect for summertime. Her ears look SUPER cute.
