If there was an option for 0 stars, I would've selected that. I DO NOT recommend this store! I knew what winter coat I wanted and chose to find a local business to support that carried it. #1: It took 4 COLD WEEKS TO ARRIVE, because they waited for more orders before they would send in their order! When they called to say it arrived, I said that I would pick it up the next day at 8am. #2: Waited and waited on the sidewalk while they tried to find the order. They came out with a "similar coat" (their words), and I remarked it was too big (dog would pee on it) and wrong colour. They then went back into the store to bag what I was told would be the one I did order. #3: When I took it out of the bag the next day to put it on, I realized they put the WRONG COAT in the bag. It was the wrong colour and wrong size. Tried it on anyway, to give it a chance. I believe it was the "similar coat" they tried the day before. #4: Phoned 24 hrs after pick-up, to say I was bringing back the coat because it was the wrong colour and size - and that my actual order must be in their store by their mistake. #5: TOLD I CAN'T EXCHANGE OR RETURN COAT, EVEN THOUGH THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG ONE!! read more

I take my dog, Cappuccino, at Tire Biter, every day. He can't wait to get to the daycare and drags me up the stairs to see his dog friends. The staff are amazingly friendly and kind. Nancy, the owner, takes special care to ensure that her dog family is happy and active during the day. She even gives me report cards on how Cappuccino is doing during the day. I brought my rottweiler puppy here for his first grooming. I called in the day before for a next day grooming. Tire Biter was definitely the most accommodating in terms of my schedule and being able to accommodate me so last minute. Nancy, I'm assuming is the owner (I may be wrong), answered the phone and was extremely helpful and pleasant. The morning of my pup's grooming appointment, I had the opportunity to meet Nancy and she's wonderful. When I came in, there were other dogs and their owners coming in for grooming and/or daycare. All the dogs came in extremely excited and happy - which is a good sign! On top of that, Nancy knew ALL the dogs and owners names - which shows that she genuinely cares. I came to pick my pup up about 2 hours later and I was extremely happy! He no longer smelled dirty (he plays outside a lot :( lol ), his coat was much softer than it usually is, his nails were cut - although one or two looked as though they weren't or were cut very unevenly, but I may be wrong. Regardless, I am extremely happy with the quality and service. My heart melted when my pup came out to see me, super clean with a cute bandana around his neck! I deducted one star because when my s/o came to pick him up, the person at the front desk (no longer Nancy) was on a personal call the entire time ... which isn't the best customer service. Other than that, I recommend this place. I wouldn't say that they are pricey as I've called around and they are average priced. Sadie our Golden Doodle has been a guest at Tire Biters at least once a week for the past three years. She is at the end of the leash when she is a block away and comes home happy and tired from playing with Nancy and her friends at the end of the day. I took my small dog here for a groom for the first (and last) time after we had moved back to the neighbourhood. Before this I've taken the dog to the same two places for many years in Brampton and in Europe. Never had any problems whatsoever. My dog is a bit scared which was something I told Tire Biter about beforehand. I also told them that she can nip (from experience when I've tried to cut her claws) and they said that's fine and that they're used to it.. When I came to pick my dog up after the groom, Nancy the groomer couldn't stop telling me how vicious and evil my dog is. She said my dog tried to bite her. I told her that I had never heard anything like this before. According to her, previous groomers probably weren't telling me the truth (sure they wouldn't after 6 years..).. She kept saying that my dog "wouldn't look her in the eyes" and asking me (or the dog?) "what's wrong with her?". She kept on going about how bad my dog is for probably five minutes.. I'm not saying that my dog wasn't acting up, but never before has any groomer had any problems like this before with my dog?! Previous groomers obviously seem to be better at their job. On top of that (and I wish I could say the opposite for the $120 I spent on her groom), the haircut is NOT good. They'd probably blame my dog for it, but for the extra money they charged me because my dog was acting up (which was a hidden fee they never mentioned to me before the groom) I would think they would at least accomplish the groom. After this experience my dog is totally terrified and not acting herself. Makes me wonder what actually happened in there. I will definitely travel the extra kilometres from now on and go to her old groomer where they respect my dog and I and charge almost half the price! I brought my dog in for his first haircut. I was apprehensive because I didn't know what to expect. I was relieved that the groomer was friendly with him right from the start. On picking him up later, I liked his haircut. I know he liked his haircut too because he spent most of the rest of the day prancing around with his new do. I used to bring my dog to Tire Biter but my favourite groomer left so I went elsewhere for about 18 months. He was really matted and I couldn't gt him in at my new usual place so I called TB and they had a lot of spaces available - a red flag in hindsight. I told them he was really matted and they did not say it would cost extra. When I picked him up they wanted $175! I freaked and I never, ever freak. The owner was very rude (I have heard this about her - she needs to take a course to learn about how to deal effectively with upset customers) and said it was my responsibility to know the prices. After intense back and forth she dropped the price to $125 and I left a $25 tip. I have been using Tire Biter's dog-walking service for a few months now, and while I really like my dog's walker (she's so nice and writes me little notes about what my dog did that day!) I find the staff at the actual Tire Biter store incredibly rude and unhelpful. Twice now I've called and asked them to walk my dog on days that they don't usually walk her (my work schedule can be somewhat unpredictable), and they act like this is the most outlandish request they've ever gotten. Also, both times I called and asked this they said they'd see if they could possibly fit me in (I always called at least 2 days ahead) and they'd get back to me, and then they never did--which left me scrambling to find a last-minute dog-walker on the day of. Also, one day I called b/c I was worried about my dog (she seemed a bit sick one morning) and I wanted to know if the dog-walker could possibly adjust her schedule that day so she walked my dog first on her route rather than last. This meant that she'd still be walking the dog within the 3-hour time block when she said she was available, just a bit earlier than usual. The woman on the phone explained to me that the dog-walker had 4 dogs to walk so she just didn't think it would be possible. Only 4 dogs and she can't adjust her schedule a bit? I might expect this from a cheaper place, but I feel like I'm paying enough here ($30/walk!) that I should be able to demand decent customer service and a modicum of individual attention. As soon as I can find another reliable walker in my neighbourhood, I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more
