I come here often, for Parakeet, and lizard food. This is a Mom and Pop run pet store. Much less expensive than the mainstream pet stores. They have much aquariums, bird cages, pet carriers, supplies, tropical fish, Parakeets, rats, mice, Guines Pigs, Chameleons, geckos, Bearded Dragons, Iguanas, turtles, tarantulas, those fighting fish, among other kinds of pets. I do not know whether they sell dogs, and cats. The only birds they sell, are Parakeets, as far sd I know. They will let you to bring in your own containers for mealworms. I came here after being asked to take care of a chameleon for a friend. This was the closest pet shop to her house and decided to give it a try. Shortly after entering, a gentleman made himself known to be there to assist, while still being cautious not to seem pushy. I approached him and recieved a treasure trove of information. He was willing to walk to my car to inspect the equipment I had and gave recommendations of what I may need. I had to upsell myself a bit because the costs of the products were very fair. The store was clean and neat while still being the enjoyable chaos you want from visiting a location housing dwarf hamsters, exotic fish, and lizards all in one place. Just finished setting up my 15 gallon planted river scape. Stocked with 7 harlequin rasboras,5 Pygmy corys, 2 khuli loaches, and 2 snowflake guppies. Fish have always lasted long when buying from here. This is my third time buying fish from here. Even though I am a kid they take me serious and are very respectful. Thank you to everyone at pet town. (I heard about pet town through my dad, he's been coming here since he was my age) My hobby has overflowed into the rest of my house and my first tank now sits somewhere else. The crystal clear tanks were filled with lively salt and freshwater critters, ready for their forever homes. There are some great finds at super reasonable prices! As an Animal rescuer on the weekends I have and had my fair share of many different animals and pets over those years (My Zoo-Crew) as I like to call them. I love pet town in downey! They have very clean salt & fresh water tanks with a great collection of freshwater shrimps that you won't find anywhere else! I've bought a few UNS tanks for a friend and myself with tissue culture plants. Tanks always look beautiful and you can find some hard to find fish that mostly have to he shipped. The customer service here is A1, unlike in other shops where you get one word short answers, here you get full in depth answers based on what you want to know. 2. The variety of fish, nano fish, shrimp, A. Nano shrimp (rare green hulks, blue bolts, etc...) B. Aquatic Plants (they carry a variety of uncommon and rare bucephalandra, anubias, cryptocoryne etc...) C. Fish Tanks (they sell Ultum Nature Systems products, which only a few stores carry and the mark up isn't like the competitors) D. Filtration Systems (They well the Dennerle Scaper's Flow which is an imported product from Germany that you won't find elsewhere) E. Driftwood and Bonzai (manzanita, spider wood, bonzais, etc...) F. Hardscape Stones (Seiryu Stone, Ohko Dragon Stone, Desert Stone, etc... G. Substrate (They sell UNS Controsoil etc...) All of this aside from the reptiles and birds that they have throughout the store. I've purchased my entire Betta aquarium setup and also purchased a 21 gallon UNS 90L aquarium from them and I've been satisfied ever since. The associate that was helping us was quite knowledgeable and after getting the specs of our aquarium, he was able to recommend extra fish that we could add. This is one of the pet shops I've been coming to since the mid 90's.... with that said, I'll get to the point. They have a wide of variety of tropical fish and reptiles; However, the number of marine fish and corals is scarce. Most of my shopping from this store has been tropical fish and that's one of the main reasons I used to go there. This past week I happened to notice something I didn't like. I went in and saw a group of beautiful Discus fish, size was listed as small and I bought one at $39.99 reason being is they wouldn't haggle on the price if I were to buy 2 or more. They were firm on the price and no complaints because the Discus I bought was a good size and gorgeous color. So before leaving I said I'd return to buy some more. Next week comes along and I go ready to buy more fish but that's when things went south. This time, the Discus they had were smaller but still pretty in color; However, the price was $39.99 for medium and $69.99 for large and no small size fish were listed. But the thing is, the medium size fish they have are way smaller than the one I had bought the week before. I don't know if this a sales strategy or if business is suffering due to COVID. All I know is that I wasn't going to pay more for a smaller fish when I had bought a bigger fish for less money the week prior. Businesses need to be fair and consistent with their sales practices. It is not a matter of money, if a customer is ready to make a purchase based on an item similar to one purchased the week before then it should be consistent with the size and price all the time. Don't charge high prices for smaller fish and expect a loyal customer to take the bite. Again, private businesses have to make a profit and pay exorbitant rent prices for their place of business but think of your customers and make price adjustments accordingly and not suddenly from one week to the next. I won't be coming here again, they lost my business. There are other pet shops down the same street so, "plenty of more fish in the sea." read more

I went here to buy a clownfish and i was pleasantly surprised at how many different kinds of them they had and for great prices. They also had a nice selection of other fish. Great for buying medicine for your fish as well. I bought some Kanaplex here and i never seen that being sold at petco or the big retail stores. Overall its a great pet store and for being small they got alot of good stuff.
