Found a feed store locally Yes and they just received there shipment of hay in. This business has been here for years never had to stop in. However, the gentleman who assisted me was helpful. 21.09 for a bale of hay not bad. Quick purchase loaded and happy. Parking is tight here so if your coming for hay park in the back and it will be loaded. They do not load hay in small vehicles. Just putting it out there you have no idea how people may see things. read more

It was very nice, the birds are very nice and the baby chicks are very cute and amazing.

They are convenient, and the prices aren't bad. The owner is a young dude that has a few stores. I commend young business owners. His bedside manner leaves something to be desired, but he does know his stuff. He sells chickens, ducks, and other birds. He also has fish and reptiles in the back. I love that he sells fresh eggs from his stock. And someone obviously hand-feeds the chicks because they are very people-friendly. His feed and supplies are much cheaper than Amazon. I do wish he had unmedicated chick starter/grower, but it seems I may be in the minority there, so I can't blame him for not having it. He DOES have non-medicated chicken scratch tho! He's my spot for now--until I find a place with friendlier service, that is. read more

This is an awesome family run business with heart. Everyone is so nice and knowledgeable. We purchased a tortoise and entire set-up. They took the time to explain everything we need to know to care for our new pet. You definitely feel the personal touch you won't get at the big expensive stores. We got 3 baby chicks marked FEMALE from here to raise as family pets and for eggs. All 3 turned out to be roosters! My kids cried when we had to get rid of them, as we can't have roosters in Torrance. John's admitted the mistake and offered to buy the roosters back for $10 each to resell in their store, so my kids went with me to pick out new chicks. But they cried and screamed when they saw the mangy condition of the other grown chickens in the tiny, dirty cages with no food or water. Pale, skinny, some bald. We could not bear to leave them there and it was a MAJOR pain to find anyone to take them. A headache best avoided, I will not be back. read more

Found this little gem of a store looking for a local alternative to driving out to Lancaster or Chatsworth just to pick up cracked corn and grit for chickens. Even with Google in hand it wasn't exactly easy as they relocated a few doors down the street next to, of all places to have as a neighbor, a polloteria (bring your kids and teach them a little about life all in one place - what's the difference between the chickens in this store and that one? Well...) But for those fortunate enough to be housed within John's side of the building life is quite safe and comfortable. They have many different birds ranging from a few conures and lovebirds, budgies, and finches, to furry exotic bantams and sturdy leghorns, both adult and day-old. A replete inventory of imaginable bulk grain supplies, minerals and supplements, and many tools of the trade. Along with the birds, John's also has rabbits, hamsters, mice (pet and "feeder"), many interesting reptiles and amphibians, insects (again, pet and "feeder") and a decent freshwater fish and plant section. Some are display only pets that happily just reside on-premises, so it can be like visiting a mini zoo for the newbies. This is not a PetCo. You won't find exotics that shouldn't live here in So. Calif. (e.g. pac-man frogs, yes, cane toads, no.) The inventory pretty much sticks to stuff that works and helps the animals thrive and not the stuff that serves mostly for decoration. If you're looking for a specific breed or variety, it's best to call ahead and he can usually source what you're looking for with him a week. Picked up several baby chickens. Was happy to find a place that sells a variety of baby chicks: - Rhode Island Red - Plymouth Rock - Leghorn - Araucana The feed was $0.75/lb and they also sell red bulbs to keep them warm. I ended up buying a 75W for my 6 baby chicks and they are adjusting nicely. I will definitely keep going back for more as they get older. The staff is very knowledgeable about raising chickens so feel free to ask questions such as how high to place your lamp depending on qty and strength of your lights. Tip: We brought our own box but they happened to have extra today. Take a small box with you just in case. Cut out some holes the size of a bottle cap for proper ventilation. This way you avoid brining the poor chicks home in a paper bag. read more

Everything you need for backyard chickens IN LOS ANGELES. That's right folks, no more driving to the valley for this chicken keeper. They've got layer feed in 25lb or 50lbs bags, (super reasonable prices) straw, waterers, blue-kote (hard to find), and a bunch of other chicken stuff (electrolyte solutions and more) I haven't had to use yet. They also sell grown chickens as well as chicks. They also have parrots, doves, pigeons, bunnys and more. I haven't paid much attention to the other stuff, because my main focus is the chickens. I cannot believe how disgusting this "pet store" was. I am still in shock. When we walked in the door there is cage after cage stacked full of chickens. The cages are maybe 2'x 3' and each cage was stuffed full of chickens. Maybe 6 or more per cage. The chickens do not look to be in the greatest of health. In one of the top cages was a dead chicken that was being stepped on. Walked around to the baby chicks and counted 3 dead chicks. There was even a flattened dead baby with other chicks cuddled up to it. Then on to the parakeets where another dead bird was found on the bottom of a large cage. The store had flies swarming around by the front door. I have never seen anything like this. I felt dirty and like I needed a shower when I left. So very sad for the animals inside. I am shocked that the other reviews are positive. read more

i called in advanced to see if they had hay bales. they said yes & gave me a price. i called back to make sure it was hay, and not straw, he said yes, assured me and described the difference. cool! i went, and guess what? no hay bales! they had alfalfa in bags, and straw. im not local to the area but happened to be in the area thats why i called in advanced. i get its a pet shop but the conditions looked real sad, the animals stacked, the bunnies looked terrified, there was a peacock. i think none of the animals had enough space. i rushed out of there. read more

Love this place, cheap prices compared to all the big stores like petco and petsmart. Plus its a nice place to buy feed by the pound or in bulk.
