I made an online grooming appointment for my mom's Maltipoo, Camila. My mom is a senior and speaks very little English, so I thought this would be a convenient and reliable option for her. Unfortunately, when she arrived for the appointment, they refused to groom Camila, stating they needed to "build a relationship" with her first. This was confusing and frustrating, especially since this requirement was never mentioned during the online booking process. For comparison, I've taken my 8-month-old dachshund to Petco in Van Nuys and have never experienced anything like this. Overall, I was really disappointed. I just wish this policy had been clearly communicated beforehand to avoid wasting our time and causing unnecessary stress. read more

I am so disappointed in Petco grooming when I brought in Harvey I was very specific in what not to do. the person who groomed him just took a razor and cut all his hair. No trimming around the eyes or face and they just shaved everything off instead of actually grooming him. They did absolutely nothing no grooming at all to his tail either. The Manager Matthew is a horrible example of a manager he was the person I spoke to when I brought him in. Horrible horrible job done by this Petco much ado to the horrible Manager Matthew he doesn't even look the same to just be lazy and take a razor and shave all the hair around face and body what a shame read more

They do a good job on my maltipoo. BUT They've since added a $5.99 materials fee. Really?? That squirt of shampoo and conditioner is that much?? The only groomer in town that charges this BS fee which now makes them the most expensive ($78 for a 17lb dog). Just no. I will be going elsewhere. read more

We brought our cat into the vet area on July 18 to be weighed so he could get his flea medicine. He is a nine month old kitten and we have had him there three times prior. Being a kitten he still likes to bite and scratch and we were always able to be in the room with him so we could take him out and calm him. This time she wouldn't allow us in the room at all to help. She told her assistant that she would not try to weigh him at all because of his mood. My wife and I had no problem, taking him out of the cage in the outer room, but she wouldn't even see him. This was the first time this fat ever saw the cat and if she can't take care of a kitten, there is something wrong! read more

This is for VETCO... at this location. Know to show up early. It's a whole scene. But this is a good way to get your puppy vaccinated. They still have someone come and try to do an upsell... but actually I was happy to get my little baby micro-chipped so, I was in. The vet there was caring and kind and gave me good advice. The vet also didn't do any of the upsell and seemed to get that this is a clinic so she was giving solid advice without trying to sell. Much appreciated. I just lost a senior dog and spent thousands of dollars on care so I'm definitely trying to find more budget-friendly ways to get this new puppy situated. VetCo clinics are good and you should book in advance and know what you need done and be clear what you can and can't pay for. No complaints. I will make the FIRST appointment next time because my little angel wants to pee on everything he sees and it's a bit embarrassing. This is worth it. Book in advance. Go. read more

I have been taking my three dogs to Petco for most of my dogs life. I was late for an appointment one time because it booked be at a wrong location and they refused to take my dog. This review is for the groomers only.. I really wanted to have a positive experience at Petco's grooming salon, and while I can acknowledge that they did a good job overall, I was truly disheartened to find marks on my dog's inner back leg that looked like she had been either scratched or pinched by something during the grooming process. This was our first time taking her to a professional groomer since rescuing her two months ago, and it was supposed to be a reassuring and gentle introduction to proper care. Instead, it left a bad impression not just for her, but for us as well. The last thing we wanted was for her to associate grooming with discomfort or fear. Because of this we won't be taking her back. I hope Petco ensures that extra care is taken with all pets, especially those who are new to the experience and more anxious. read more

Don't take credit for completed work when ur groomer named Ever discourages you, scares u, leaves u no options to groom a furry 'matted' dog. i'll take my business elsewhere & pay extra without the groomers whining about the amount of work he needs to do. I like it for the location, but it's very unorganized. Could be cleaner as well. There are boxes stacked everywhere and it's really difficult to get around the store. I went here a couple weeks ago for my dogs annual vaccines and made the mistake of coming on a Saturday. Even with an appointment, I waited almost 2 hours to get seen by the one veterinarian they had there. No chairs to sit down, it was just a horrible experience. Decided to make my follow up vaccine appointment for a Thursday and it was much better. They really need to put chairs out though. Plenty of parking. read more

Petco Lakewood, CA Store grooming department does not follow it's own code of ethics. Adding additional services the customer does not need is 100% unethical. My online grooming appointment quote was $139.00, at the store they attempted to add on services the dog did not need and lied about the dog needing matted adding $51 to original price. I assume getting their employees to sell more they earn more. What it does is give them bad publicly and lost customers. read more

Petco is a national chain store that sells food, supplies and over the counter meds for most pets. VETCO is the clinic part of Petco which offers Veteranary services like vaccinations. Vetco operates at select locations and has limited hours and appointments are needed via online. This VETCO is inside Petco and has free parking in their lot. Last weekend, after a wasted trip to Sinai Center Animal Hospital, my Yelp search suggested I try this location for a veteranary appointment for my furbabe to get the Leptospirosis vaccine to prevent from contracting the canine flu which has been the current outbreak. If your dog is active and social with other dogs, it's highly recommended. VETCO has my account on file for my furbabe. We've gone to other locations: Doheny Drive in West Hollywood and Westwood Village. This La Brea location was able to accommodate me and my furbabe got her needed Leptospirosis vaccination. The current vet: Dr Harris and her vet assistant wore face masks and gloves and sanitized the surfaces. This tiny clinic is small and not fancy, but not divey. The vet was professional and nice to me and my furbabe. Additionally, the cost was reasonable and they keep all medical records which can be accessed online, so convenient. Recommend! read more

It's Petco like any other location. There aren't really deals on dog food here versus the grocery store; there's just more of a selection for specialty food. Cheap toys that are 2 for 5 that I know my dog will immediately destroy, especially because they all have squeakers. I came here for a bark vibrating collar and they had one. petco in Bricktown staten Island is the worst ever. Ordered food for my dog and I do same day delivery in the morning get sent confirmation that it will be delivered with a time and never comes. I think this Petco is my new go-to place to get my pup groomed. After another last-minute cancellation from another big-box pet store (see in my other reviews) - I've had enough. Furiously checking all the stores online, I saw that every local place was booked up. I decided on a whim call this store to see if there's an opening to possibly do a last minute reservation groom for my dog. (He was so stinky and itchy). Thankfully, I was able to score a spot and drop off my dog same day. Jessica and the team to the rescue! I was able to check in my dog (Clifford) and a few hours later, I received a very handsome and stink-free dog. He was well loved by the entire grooming team. Thank you so much and we will be returning again. :) read more

This is for Grooming and specifically Tatiana. She helped me yesterday and made it such a breeze from start to finish. When I walked in she was so nice and greeted me immediately. She took time to chat and find out what I was looking for with him. When I told Tatiana that I was anxious about clipping his nails she calmed my nerves so easily and assured me she would be gentle. When I mentioned his long quicks she checked and saw right away how to help him. Tatiana was mindful of my time and started on him right away. She was so sweet to me and my little boy. RASH ON MY DOG. First of all, I came on time for my dogs appointment and her groomer Viviana wasn't done with previous dog, when I asked how much longer she said about 45 min and that my dog can wait in the kennel ⁉ I took her back home (since I live close by) and was waiting for them to call me whenever they ready for my dog. Even tho I made appointment 3 weeks BEFORE, BUT that's not the reason why I'm writing this review. My dog got a bath and no haircut since she already has short hair. When I picked her up she seemed happy and smelled nice. But when I got home I noticed that back of her front leg was tiny bit reddish but it looked more like she got some kind of pimple. Didn't think it was a big deal. And now, few days after, her both legs turned red, it looks like some kind of rash This is not cool, I took my dog AND PAID for her to get a bath and look cute NOT TO HAVE to take her to the vet cuz of you guys. read more

Update* I came back at 3:30pm I was expecting someone rude but luckily a nice older men helped me, he was very calm and helpful and gave me my missing item. I don't wanna be judgmental but this younger employees need some training on customer service and pay more attention to what they're doing... From now on I'm gonna double check my bag. Lmfao some workers get offended when u double check and say " i put everything in the bag" and roll their eyes idc I'm still gonna check from now on. Ok wtf I just drove to my house and checked the bag just to find the dental solution I got was not in the bag??? They usually ask if I want a bag the guy didn't ask, just gave me the bag, I assumed he put all my stuff in the bag because my bag was heavy so I didn't checked cause I was paying with my card ... I paid for this solution and I'm expecting to get it. I'm going tomorrow to the store to tell them this or dispute this with my bank. Wtf... How can he not noticed but still charge it to my card??? And weirdly on the receipt it says only the dry food is returnable but the "missing" solution doesn't appear for return credit but they did charge it... ... Orlando is the guy that helped, that's what it says on the receipt I was there before they closed at 8:30. I can't go now. I noticed after 9pm. Called and it's closed already. read more

Petco is a huge chain, I'd expect a better service... I used to work at an animal hospital, so I am familiar with what's up, what needs to be done etc. I send my dog there with a friend to get a bravecto, so they can weight her and can give the appropriate one. They call and say since it's a prescription med she needs to be seen by the doctor. I was like sure, even better - she has been really itchy for the last couple of weeks and even though I gave her flea bath and an other oral med I wanted to get bravecto to stop this situation completely. That is a good brand that I'm familiar with. At the store they only had the oral one and not the tropical one for the skin, I'm still okay with the product. I just want my baby to finally get relax. My friends call me so I can speak with the doctor, by the time it has already been more than 30 mins. I asked the doctor about how was everything she says she did a full body exam everything looks ok, which was really weird cause then I asked her how her stomach looked like she didn't had any clue and even asked me what's wrong with her belly. I mean if she would touched or looked she would have seen it. They spend I believe around 1 hour getting a full body exam yet she missed the only reason why my dog was there. Bravecto is known as flea medication and when you check for the fleas you need to look under arms and belly. So that was a sad experience on my end and definitely created a low image on my mind as a customer. read more

Just had a bad experience here with Katherin. I booked online for an appointment for my dog today for "bath and haircut", which starts at $59 + $6 material fees and I assume tax and tip added later. The first red flag was when Katherin said that they can't shave my dog because she is double coated. Pretty sure my chihuahua mix is single coated, but I let her check my dog anyway, and after brushing her fingers across her fur, she said yes, your dog is double coated and we can't do any shaving. Which, okay that's understandable if my dog was actually double coated. Was she just uninformed about dog coats or too lazy to do a body shave? Who knows. Second red flag, and the bulk of my irritation, was that she was insisting on up-selling me the $24 essential plus package that I did not need or want. I saw on the bill estimate that she had included the $24 essential plus package to the bill, which I asked for it to be taken off because I didn't want the upgrade. She insisted that the upgrade is needed because the upgraded shampoo was needed. She asked for the age of my dog, which I told her was 8 years old, and said that my dog is still a baby and needed the special shampoo. Really? 8 years is closer to senior than puppy. But maybe she heard me wrong and thought I said 8 month instead of 8 years. We'll just give her the benefit of the doubt there. But she was really just trying her hardest to upsell me on the package because she told me that the basic $59 I'm paying for doesn't include any "scissor work" so my dog won't be trimmed. At that moment, I was just thinking that I want a haircut for my dog that I didn't fact check her and reluctantly agreed. After letting my dog into their care, I walked to the store part of petco and looked online to see what "bath and haircut" really included because it did not sit well with me that it didn't include scissor work. Lo and behold, "cut and style" is definitely included in "bath and HAIRCUT" package. So I went back and told her this, to which she said my dog needed a nail buffing because her nails are long (which, did she even look at my dogs nails after putting her back there?? Cause they weren't long; I just trimmed them myself yesterday). I told her I don't need my dogs nails buffed or balmed or for her to get her teeth brushed. I'm just here for a haircut. She told me she was uncomfortable washing my dog with the deep cleansing shampoo because it will be too rough on my dog and it'll dry her out. I told her I'm fine with regular shampoo since I wash my dog with regular shampoo monthly and she's fine. She insisted she's uncomfortable, so I left with my dog because I was not comfortable paying for upcharges that we do not need. And petco, is your regular shampoo so terrible for dogs that it'll dry them out and be too rough for dogs to handle?? If it is, why is that being used?? Or is this just one more thing that this lady lied about to try to upsell? read more

I feel frustrated every time I come here due to the indifferent and unprofessional attitude of the employees. I saw an item on the Petco website and asked the employee at the counter if it was available in the store, but they told me to check online instead. So I came here because it was listed as available online, but when I arrived, it seemed like the item was not in stock. I went to renew a flea/tick medication (3 month supply); which was written in July at this location (Rx are good for a year); was told they didn't have refills written on the account, I pointed out, I didn't need because Rx is good for a year--and clerk should speak to Vet to confirm. Vet willing renewed the NexGard, but was told all they had was a 6 month or 1 year supply. I agreed to purchase the 6 month for 158. (non taxable); when I went to the cashier to ring up the barcode coupons, there was an additional coupon charging 5.99 (taxable). I asked what this extra charge was. The cashier said a vaccine/hazardous waste charge. I told them I wasn't getting any vaccines, just aFlea/Tick Rx renewal. I went back to Vetco staff member who told me "It's a tax of the Rx" I countered, Rxs are not taxable by law. Her response was " Our supervisors told us we have to charge that". THIS IS FRAUD. I did not buy the medicine there. I called Vetco--but there customer service center is overseas with no transfer for stateside issues. This is a serious matter of Consumer Fraud, Vetco/Petco.
