I've lived in this area for 7 years and I am VERY disappointed that I am just now finding this gem of a pet store. It is absolutely F A B! My baby girl, Miss. Xokami, a Ragdoll Snowshoe QUEEN has a very exquisite pallet. Unfortunately, her favourate salmon paté which she's loved for years was taken off the shelf at PetCo on Beverly. The item would no longer be produced by its manufacturer. Shame. I searched the entire 90048, 90049, 90046 and 93454 to find an alternative but I was met with complete dissatisfaction by Miss. Xokami. I happened to stumble across Tailwaggers and if I'm being honest, I was nervous they'd be just as pretentious as Xokami. To my surprise, they were not pretentious at all! In fact, they were very welcoming, friendly and full of information. It reminded me of a pet store in Brooklyn which I love dearly. A specialty shop full of everything a pet owner could need and answers for every question! I was very happy to see they had a small but refined selection of food and treats for Cats; however, the store primarily caters to dogs, vegan dogs, and also dog owners... as most stores do. I went to Tailwaggers because my cat had cancer and he had only a couple more days and he couldn't eat so I wanted to find something he might eat. I was lucky enough to be helped by Shahin. Shahin was kind and so helpful. He told me about the different foods I could try and he was he was very compassionate with me. I guess I lucked out because that was his last day and he was moving on to another passion with animals. Whoever he's going to be working for next is very lucky. This place has the best customer service I've experienced in a long time! I was helped by Sofia, Rose and Ian and they are an invaluable resource. Sofia in particular is incredible! She has an encyclopaedic knowledge on all of the products, the most patient and kind demeanour, and the right balance of enthusiasm, positivity and calm. Not only that, but when it came time to put together the free package that you guys offer for newly adopted kittens, she transformed it into a group activity, effectively turning it into a collaborative training exercise with Rose and Ian. Your products, range and philosophy are great as a company. But your team is your greatest accomplishment. What a nice pet store located on Fairfax! The place is huge with all varieties of pet food and pet costumes. So darn cute! The people there are very friendly and helpful. I found that the prices are very comparable. Brian helped me with recommendations as I have a cat with allergies who is addicted to dry cat food with wheat and grains. I also asked about dog food for my cousin's dog, who has heart problems. It's a shame that our pets now have people ailments but it's good to know that there are speciality stores like Tailwaggers who can help you help our little fur babies. Love the concept. Okay I think I've finally had it with this place. On the plus side, they have a lot of great healthy natural, pure, raw and raw alternative options. However, it's always turns into a scavenger hunt trying to figure out how much anything costs. If you're lucky, a bag may have a price tag on it but most of the freezer items do not. There's endless price cards scattered on the fronts & sides of the freezers and on randome walks but many of them don't even match to the items in the freezer they're taped to. I really want to buy many things from the store but i lose patience when I have to put the effort of having walk up to the register to ask how much something is. Today I was holding 5 items that I was interested in buying. I decided I was only going to buy the items with prices I could visibly see myself. I ended up purchasing a single bag of treats with a price tag on the back. It shouldn't be this difficult for a customer to shop for items and easily know how much they should expect ti pay for them. This has been an issue since I started shopping here several years ago, I hope maybe someday somebody will fix this. In the meantime. If anyone figures out how to do what every other retail shop in the country manages to do - price your products so your customers can easily identify their cost - please let me know...I'll be shopping at urban pet in the meantime. read more

Today will probably be my last day to shop at Tailwaggers. Over the last few years, I've opted to get Canidae dog from from Tailwaggers instead of Amazon because I try to support local business, when I can. I'm not pleased with a few COVID-related points: 1) 2 employees were there. The guy who checked me out had his face mask hanging under his mouth. We're entering what Newsom and the CDC have characterized as the worst two weeks of the pandemic. Face masks are few and far between. It irked me that an employee had access to one and opted to wear it in a manner that rendered it useless. 2) When checking out, I used Apple Pay so that I could avoid using a communal pen. One of the points of Apple Pay is that it redefines point-of-sale transactions. Apple Pay enables users to use their iPhone fingerprint or face recognition in lieu of signing a receipt or digital signature pad. Needless to say, biometrics are significantly more secure than a handwritten signature. Tailwaggers is one of the only businesses I've been to in recent memory that makes consumers sign when they use Apple Pay. This practice is counter-intuitive when we're in the middle of a pandemic. The owner needs to talk to an Apple technical representative and adjust settings. Don't worry, though, the guy with the face mask under his mouth assured me that they clean the pen every 30 minutes. Forgive me if I take his assurance with a grain of salt. Lift up your mask, buddy. 3) The dog food I buy there is $10 cheaper on Amazon. I might be more forgiving about problems 1 and 2 if we weren't at the start of the worst two weeks of California's epidemic. read more

Nice pet store with good quality food and treats. They carry seasonal toys and bakery style treats. When checking out, you can round up to the nearest dollar and the change goes to an animal charity. They also have a loyalty program. My main issue is the pricing. Tailwagger's: My dog is female fixed, vaccinated and registered. I was at the cash register paying and no where to go but over the desk when a customer with an angry dog walked in and yes attacked my dog. It was not a dog fight as my dog does not fight, it was indeed an attack. Where did you get your information? I had several puncture wounds and you wanted me to speak to the attacker when I'm in shock and bleeding!? I was not going to let this dog continue to bite my dog so I had to break up the fight. What did you expect me to do!? Allow the Boxer with his strong jaw to destroy my Australian Shepherd puppy. And, you still fail to provide me with a simple apology and perhaps some dog treats for my girl as a nice gesture. You are the worst company and your products are always expired. I should've sued you. You are an embarrassment. And, yes I went back to you store and even purchased treats after the incident and your employees told me the story of how this Boxer punctured a dog in your store a few weeks after I was horribly bitten. All you can say is don't get in between a dog fight! So the solution is to let the dog tear my dog to pieces and then have your employees stand around and do nothing. What are the regulations? Sound off an alarm, spray them with water, what would Petco do? YOU ARE ATROCIOUS!! read more

Whenever I bring my dog in they always give him treats! I cannot say enough great things about this place. Most importantly, they listen to me talk ad nauseam about my cat's well being, and when he's not doing great they care. Do I go here for great discounts on my pet supplies? No. They're priced like you'd expect a boutique shop, renting an expensive piece of real estate to be priced. But it's worth it for the staff, the easy parking in back and the coffee shop right next door. Not to mention, the last time I ordered something on Chewy and it arrived expired. They've also clearly spent time curating stuff that is actual good for our precious pets and if my cat refuses to eat something, they take it back. I also do most of my shopping online; however, I added a new pet to our family, 3 Maltese' of different sizes although all small. I read the Yelp reviews and the inventory that you carry so I walked in today with my three pups. As I was looking at the options of harnesses and leashes, Christian passed by on his way to lunch or break ( as I overheard him say) but asked if I needed help. I told him it's ok, take your break. Long story short he never left my side. Christian delivered the best client experience that I have had in a very long time. He went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations. He was patient, thorough, knowledgeable and demonstrated passion for what he does in rconsulting what he thinks is best. Btw, He also cross-sold me on some dog food after I asked some questions about that. Keep in mind, as you know a customer will not keep asking about other products unless you deliver that kind of experience. Part of the reason I shop online is one, price but secondly, it's easier than dealing with employees that are rude and indifferent. I need to purchase a few more items for my 3 pups but will definitely shop at this location due to this experience and proximity to my home and of course, Christian who created the experience along with the standards set by the Manager. In fact all employees interacted with clients in A friendly and helpful manner including me and my pups which I can only attribute to the kind, friendly and gentle Manager that I also interacted with, I didn't get her name. I live very close by and will choose to continue shopping at this location. This is definitely community shopping! Great job! read more

Been coming to Tailwaggers for a couple years now, to grab our dog's food. For a while, our Lab and our Maltipoo ate the same thing. Unfortunately, the Maltipoo has a bit of a sensitive stomach, and they guys at Tailwaggers pointed us in the direction of a lightly-cooked, frozen bar (My Perfect Pet) that she LOVES. Every time we walk in, we're met with a smile and a warm welcome. Everyone is always happy to assist and they signed us up for the "auto-renewal" type ordering for our Lab's kibble (Fromme) so that when she needs it (every month) there guaranteed is a bag waiting for us when we walk in. The items available are always great, from treats, food, necessities and toys alike. Tailwaggers is a great Pet Store, for everything you could want or need. read more

What a fantastic store here in LA. I've been to many pet stores in LA over the years and Tailwaggers rules!

My husband and I have been shopping here for a couple of years now. What was once a charming mom and pop store where I could find all of my pooch's sensitive needs supplies, has rapidly turned to a rampant disregard for understanding customers' needs. First, I was guilted/pressured into buying raw food. I felt like such a terrible dog owner for "poisoning" my dog with the kibble and wet food combination I had been feeding (yes, that is what the guy actually said???) The foreigner guy who owns the store, has the worst in your face smug attitude I have ever encountered. His know it all attitude and self absorbed snobbery left me with a tepid taste in my mouth, and a bag of raw food that I did not want to buy. Reluctantly, I took the bag home, feeling guilty about the neglect I had bestowed upon my animal. After just one small meal of the raw food, my dog became severely ill. A vet visit and a $1000 later, my dog is finally stable and picking around his kibble again and seeming like his normal self again. When I went back to return the food, hoping to avoid another humiliating encounter with this abhorrent, money grubbing, ignorant man. This man with tattoos proceeded to make me feel even more humiliated for not having done my research in picking the right brand for my dog. Not only did he slander a food that they CARRY and SELL, in lesser words he described me to be an idiot for feeding raw food to my 10 year old dog! Vlad the dog impaler did not forewarn me of any possible dangers to my dogs wellbeing, given his age and the fact that I had never given raw food before! Not only is this place irresponsible, it is down right dirty in the way it operates. They only want to make more money off of you. They do not care for the wellbeing of your animals! Please avoid this place like a plague. This place has officially lost my business. read more

Ken, Jocelyn, formerly Jade, Jordan, and Adelfa are all quite wonderful with animals and as helpful employees, and get 300 stars in my book. They are the only reason to visit this store. The general manager gets negative 250 stars. Long time former patron with my rescue bully breed, told I was an irresponsible owner because unattended smaller dog provoked him and his sister, which led to an incident. So glad the owner whose dog instigated it is the model of dog ownership. This place is over priced and disingenuous to the hilt. These employees deserve so much better. read more

I was greeted upon entry and asked if I needed any help by a woman named Kimberly. She was very knowledgable, patient, and above all, friendly. The store itself is well maintained and clean. I had some coffee at the coffee shop next door, The Commissary, and happened upon this pet store. Upon entering my two dogs and I were greeted kindly by the staff and not only did they give treats to my dogs on the spot, but they also gave us a free bag of treats to take with us. There is a very good selection of food, toys and pet supplies. Minus half a star for the high prices... my tiny squeak toy cost $10 (would have been $5 at PetSmart) that Maddy will just chew up anyway.
