If you know about the owner, you'll love this place. I popped in here 10 yrs ago when I first visited LA and now I live down the street and thankful it's still around. One of the few dog rescue x store places that holds up well. I know a few and I'm not that impressed. Yes, I sometimes have no idea why I only have 3 things in my hands and spent $80. But I come back at least once a month and buy something that I know is over $5 more here than a regular petco. Don't get me wrong, petco's not beneath me-- they also have nice staff and they keep prices affordable so you can spoil your sweet pet, but it's also important to acknowledge that saving & showing up for animals with decency, is expensive. Gotta support the people who do it for the love of it, not the bank roll. read more

I've been here a few times, and the customer service is consistently amazing. They have a parking lot at the back, but parking can get tricky during busy hours or on the weekend. They are very knowledgeable about different treats and needs for dogs and cats- it's clear the staff loves and cares about animals. This store has a great variety of products at reasonable prices. The quality of their products is also noteworthy. I got a few items here, and they gave me some freebies for my dogs to try. In addition, they also donate to animal causes and promote pet adoptions. Found a sweet kitty by my pool today and brought her in.. Needed to get some supplies and popped in here while trying to pick up some passes from Brain Dead. Can we FIRST give a nod to the clever name this small business proudly wears? I mean come on--that alone is like, 3 stars. Beyond the products sold here, the people are SO unreasonable nice. A-B-O-V-E and B-E-Y-O-N-D kind, with real engagement (opposed to contrived "customer service"). They are also knowledgeable and offer advice on food and products that may help a dog with something like skin irritation (for example). The positivity in this place is noticeably heavy-handed. I often leave smiling and in a great mood (even though I've only purchased food or whatever). My girlfriend's folks live just around the corner; when her and I visit Silverlake from Oakland, we generally schlep our old-man terror (terrier) with us and bullet down the Grape Vine. While most pet-stores offer quite a bit for dogs and other animals, this business dedicates all of their inventory to dogs. The actual facility is unusually small, but is also not inundated with useless crap people would never buy. Whatever you are in the market for should be relatively easy to find (e.g. toys, quality-food, treats, or grooming products). Althoooough... Passing by this morning, I D I D notice horrible Halloween costumes displayed in the window (see attached image). While I would not have the heart to subject my old-man pup into a pumpkin costume, there are plenty of patrons who would. Probably the same owners who drag their helpless animal-"son" into grocery stores and other inappropriate places animals should probably not be. out of respect for others... (you know who you are; you're not fooling anyone with your fake-ass service animal vest... please get help, your dog needs a break from you!) They also have a welcoming bowl of water for those just passing by. When I do bring my cranky ass old-man dog inside Echo Bark, our pup often leaves stuffed like a thanksgiving turkey full of treats. Various kind-hearted employees toss snacks to him (after politely asking if its okay to feed him). Prices are also reasonably solid, with a few options of "McDonalds" and other fun animal junk-food. It's not unusual for Echo Bark to just GIVE AWAY samples which vendors send the business to try-out. I'm sure there's no ratio, but it has happened a couple times. Best pet store! Always such a positive experience to go there for humans and doggie alike. We rescued our shepherd mix about a year ago and visiting echo bark always makes his day! He loves getting treats and knows the way there on sunset. great selection of organic food, treats and toys. I'm so lucky to live within walking distance of Echo Bark. It's the best pet store I've ever been in. Jeff and Will are not only incredibly friendly and kind but they are so knowledgeable. They stock everything in their store intentionally and by shopping local I've in turn ended buying higher quality food and treats for my dog that are better for her and the environment (and are comparable in price to what I was buying before). I should also note that this is my dog's favorite store in the world since she gets treats and loaded up on pets every time we go in, not to mention all of the samples they give out! Funny story, I walked into this place for some reason thinking it was an arts and crafts store (it was the end of the day and dark out, that's my defense!). The man who was working there was super friendly and not weirded out at all by my very weird assumption that this was a crafts store. I don't even have a dog. . . x_x He even pointed me in the direction of the nearby King's Roost (which is great, I've been there), so five stars for being friendly and referring good local businesses. I stopped by Echo Bark today to pick up a birthday present for my 12 year old cat.. aww, where have the years gone and how did my kitten turn into a middle aged dude? They have a great selection of healthy cat foods like Weruva and BFF. Cute toys as well- we got our bday kitty a fuzzy Platypus that holds cat nip. :) I mentioned I was grabbing a few things for my cat's birthday and the guy who checked us out was so nice and gave us a free can of weruva for our kitties to try and a big sample of grain free dry food. This place is amazing. They greeted us right away and in such a friendly manner. My dog is STRONG and we desperately needed a prong collar for her. They sized it for her and gave her so much attention and treats for being so good. Prices are incredibly reasonable and staff is wildly attentive. What a great experience. UPDATE: Still can't think of a single negative thing to say about this place, not that I'm trying. The staff is knowledgeable and caring. We always swing by here even when we don't need anything and they load our dog up with treats and samples for both her and our cat.
