Good neighborhood spot... likely small business which I prefer to support. The owner has some interesting brands I've never seen. Keep in mind, this is a smaller store, so the selection isn't as vast as the corporate bullshit places. They carry an interesting brand I can't find anywhere called "Mouser" that actually has mouse in it, lol. They also have a cooler and freezer with some raw type options. Support small businesses is the way to go imo. read more

But three times in the past month i've shown up to get dog food and there's a sign up that says "we're open, be right back..." -- each time i've waited between 20-30 minutes and no one shows up. I'm writing this review partly out of guilt because we've been using an online pet food service since our regular neighborhood store closed down and then the pandemic hit. However, I've been to Pet Express twice since then when supplies ran short and my experience has been extremely positive. The owner is lovely, as was the young man who helped me yesterday. They have a lot of high-quality cat food that is not available from online warehouses, the store is clean and inviting and staff are helpful and pleasant to talk to. It's much easier to buy six weeks'-worth of cat food from an internet supplier, especially during a lockdown but now I feel the need to support great local businesses like this; I will have to figure out how. meanwhile I recommend Pet Express very highly. read more

Normally I love shopping here but the last 2 times were not a great experience. My husband went in to get food and hay for our bunny and the new lady working had no clue how to ring the items up. He was there waiting patiently while she called different places for pricing and it took WAY too long. I tried going this afternoon at 3pm when they were open and no one was there. The door was locked and there was a sign that said be right back...no clue what that means but I wasn't able to get my Dog food and it's quite disappointing...i also saw 2 other people trying to shop and had to leave. Preface: I have not been to this location, just spoke to Louis (the Manager) on the phone. We are planning on and looking forward to coming through and shopping with you in person soon! Louis was super helpful and professional throughout the call. He is very knowledgeable, but also willing to admit (which I think is super important) that he doesn't know everything and that he constantly updates and refreshes his knowledge - a quality that speaks to his professionalism and care. He provided me information about their dental cleaning services and gave me their contact information as well. Louis also shared with me some of the resources on Youtube that he uses to stay on top of Pet Nutrition. All in all, I love Pet Express and look forward to keeping them as our one-stop shop for all of our kitties' needs. read more

Might of caught the sales gal on the wrong day, but I don't really see myself going back. I pulled up about 15 minutes before opening (they open later than most pet food stores) so parked and strolled around the neighborhood until 10am. Went back down, no one was there. Called, no answer. Ended up driving home, but the salesperson called me back saying there was a missed call. I explained that I was looking to buy dog food, and she offered to deliver what I needed, but since I had never been there I didn't know what was what. I went back later in the day and was really underwhelmed, received minimal help which would be key since there are NO prices on any of the food. How am I supposed to figure out what costs what and compare? I asked the staff where the prices were and she pulled out a price book behind the counter but took it with her after giving me one or two prices. Guess I wasn't going to get more assistance on the brands..... I ended up spending $150 there but when I was checking the receipt at home- there wasn't even a price break down. I had to call and ask. I'll stick to a store with transparent pricing and staff that will actually help. read more

Love this store so much. I feed my dog raw and they have many of the common premade frozen raw brands (think Primal, Answers, Small Batch, OC Raw Dog, Tuckers, etc.) as well as a few smaller, local raw brands. They have way better pricing than all the other stores in the area, including the "boutique" but corporate-y Healthy Spot and Urban Pet. This is a small location but if they are able to get it from a supplier, they will order products for you. I get many of my supplement items from them and they're the best pricing I can find anywhere, including online. Great customer service as well. read more

This place is amazing. I don't live in LA but my family spends a lot of time there because of my boyfriend's job. I went in one day for some dog and cat treats to take home to San Diego and now I'm a semi-regular customer. Wish there was a location closer to me but I do try to stock up on cat & dog food whenever we're in the area. The girl that works there (always the same girl every time I'm there), was really nice about my questions and talked to me about the food she buys and now I feel really good about the food my little fur babies eat. I've always liked going to smaller companies because they always remember me. The girl at this location even asks about my pets so it's a nice little touch to be treated like she really cares about the animals. Love the prices, love the girl (nice and patient with my millions of questions), just wish there was a closer store. read more

I never leave yelp reviews-- it is god awful hot in this store and it has been ALL SUMMER... the manager Luis who seems is ALWAYS here and the poor cat Billy who lives overnight in the store have got to be suffering. I love this store! I've been feeding my cat raw food for years and years now and they have halshan raw food which is seemingly hard to find. It's way more affordable than small batch, or other raw food I've bought and they have a huge selection of it! Anyone I have ever met in this store has been super kind and helpful but not OVERLY helpful like the people at healthy spot. The few poor reviews I've seen on here must have been dramatized, the only time anyone would say anything about an animal being unhealthy is when they're unhealthy. People are so quick to say someone is being mean about you or your animal when actually they're trying genuinely trying to help your pet. I love this store, highly recommend! read more

They have everything you could want for your pet and more, and you can tell that they really love animals. I've been having such a hard time trying to get my cat to eat his dry food, so I went in hoping for a suggestion and I left with 8 different samples of different dry foods, and wet foods for him to try so I can see which one he'll eat!! Having shopped at petco, and other large pet supply providers, I can say that the experience shopping here is completely different. I truly cannot day enough about their wonderful staff. Although they seem to like animals and mean well, they can be insulting. There is a superiority complex that is unwelcoming. I have experienced this on most occasions I have stopped in for food etc. They actually insulted my dog this last time...saying she was fat and I should only give her grain free food..not the food I was asking for (that they didn't carry). My dog may not be skinny, but she is definitely not fat and even if she was...why insult us? If you want to be looked down upon as you buy your pet supplies....this is the place for you! :( read more

Pet Express is the perfect neighborhood pet supply store. While it is pretty small they carry an amazing selection of pet food. They carry all the best brands (including a wide variety for pets with special nutritional needs ie: grain free, raw food, alternate proteins, etc). And their prices can not be beat. I've compared and no one in the area comes close. I am also continually impressed with the friendly and knowledgeable staff. They really know their products. They never push things on you but if you have any questions you will be amazed at their wealth of knowledge. I mentioned to them that the food I was buying was for my elderly bulldog and that despite her advanced age she was doing pretty well but I was worried about how stiff her joints seemed to be getting. They recommended Liquid Health K9 brand Glucosamine MSM & Chondroiten liquid and it literally changed her life. She is like a whole new dog. The girl was telling me about it and she had the groomer come out and tell me about a dog that he was working on that could barely walk and the change he had seen in that dog once they added that liquid to his food. He said it was nothing short of miraculous and he was right! I had tried other brands of Gluc./MSM/Chond. before and had little to no results but I trusted their recommendation and I am so glad I did. My beloved dog seems 4 years younger. I shit you not! She is almost puppy-like now the way she romps around. Also - if you go there and they are out of something they will call their other store and have them bring it over for you to pick up the next day. They will call you when it arrives. Now that is service!!! The toy selection is not so hot but who cares??? Everything else about this place makes me wish I could give them 6 stars. The perfect neighborhood pet store. The staff is really nice and they love dogs (no idea on their feelings for cats since I don't have any but I'm sure they love them too). Their food prices are lower then the other area stores and they're really knowledgable about the products they carry. Their groomer does a great job ( I have a Yorkie which isn't the easiest dog to groom) and obviously cares about each dog he works on. All in all a very cool place.
