**Update** The tubs are great and the price is fair. But consistency is still a problem -- about two out of three visits you'll run into issues: 1. Weak water pressure - like a dribble. Ask which tub has best pressure before starting. 2. The hose is supposed to dispense shampoo. The issue is that they dispense so little you will barely notice it. Like no smell. No suds. Skip to the end: Bring your own Shampoo and you'll do fine. When you bring issues or questions up, prepare to be brushed off. Instead of acknowledging your feedback, you'll be gaslit. * Point out the missing shampoo? "No, we use light suds to help dog's skin." Except there aren't ANY bubbles at all. Spoiler alert - you won't smell it either. So... you can't see it or smell it. But it's there. Got it. * Mention the low water pressure? You'll be told "yeah, that's normal." It's not. It's like taking a shower with a sink faucet on low. Sometimes this place is great. If you want to bathe your dog with low pressure, very little shampoo, and get gaslit when you mention it, this is your spot. Pro tip: bring your own shampoo. The tubs really are great, pick one with good water pressure if you can find - just don't expect much else. read more

I've been coming to this Pet Food Express for the past few months since adopting my kitten, and many of the employees here have been genuinely nice and helpful. Unfortunately, I've now had two experiences that made me uncomfortable enough to stop shopping here. The first was a visit around 7:40 PM -- a full twenty minutes before closing. As soon as I walked in, the employee at the open register looked directly at me and then immediately checked his watch. Another employee was already cashing out a register. I grabbed what I needed quickly and went straight to checkout, but the same employee looked at me again and checked his watch a second time while ringing me up. I was out of the store in under ten minutes. After I got to my car, he even stepped outside and scanned the parking lot as if checking for anyone else coming in. I understand closing procedures, but the repeated watch‑checking and overall tone made me feel unwelcome despite being a fast, considerate customer. My second experience happened today. Both registers had customers when I walked in, but by the time I was ready to check out, I was the only person waiting. The woman at the register was preoccupied with something else and kept her back to me the entire time. She didn't acknowledge me at all. Eventually, she turned to another employee and said, "Would you ring her up?" -- without ever addressing me directly. It was another moment that felt unnecessarily dismissive. Because many of the staff are wonderful, I'm not writing this lightly. But there are a couple of employees who are just plain rude, and after two separate interactions that left me feeling unwelcome, I'm deducting two stars -- one for each experience. read more

BE CAREFUL ROTTEN DOG FOOD SOLD!! I accompanied my senior mother to purchase dog food for her dog. After returning home, she opened the bag and transferred the food into her dog food storage container, which is her normal routine. When she went to feed the dog the following day, the food had a strong rotten smell and was clearly spoiled. This raised serious concerns about the quality and safety of the product that was sold. Unfortunately, because she had already emptied the bag into the container, the original packaging was discarded. The very next day from purchasing food- I called the store to explain the situation, expecting a reasonable resolution given the circumstances and the obvious quality issue. Instead, I was told that nothing could be done because the bag was not available. This response was extremely disappointing, especially considering this situation involves defective pet food and an elderly customer. Pet Food Express is a wonderful pet store. It's on Olympic (at Palm) in Beverly Hills. There is a free parking lot on the side of the store with lots of spaces. This is a good sized store. It's very clean and well organized. They have lots of pet supplies for both dogs and cats. They also have a dog washing station and adoptable cats that you can visit with. Check out the super cute dog treats at the counter that look like human cookies. The policy of the store is that they do not sell "b.s ingredients" aka food with "bad stuff". I truly love that this pet store cares about the health of our beloved pets and only carries products with the best ingredients. It's very helpful for pet owners as looking through ingredients can be a daunting task. I came here because my fur baby needed food. I called up to ask if the food was available and they indeed had it in stock. They were so nice, friendly, and helpful. My pet's food was up at the front waiting for me when I arrived. I think the store is lovely and people are great. However, the self grooming stations were clean but the water and blow drier were cold and took some time to warm up. I didn't appreciate that for my puppy. I don't think anyone would. I have been coming here for a while to give my dog a bath. It is a nice option so hair isn't going down the drain at home. But this last time I was so disappointed. I payed and started the bath and noticed how dirty the tub was. It was black all around the edge. Not sure if it's gunk build up or mold but it was so disgusting having my dog sit in this. This was specifically the corner left bath. I have not noticed this in other ones but I am grossed out. They really should be scrubbing these often. We have been going to Pet Food Express/ Beverly HIlls since our dog was a puppy. The staff has always been terrific and very welcoming ! They always give our dog a treat or per her and make her feel @ home. We buy our food, treats and toys there. Recently we moved away from that area , but whenever we are there we drop in. When Molly was puppy, she sat on the counter there when Paloma was there ( she was 8 week Golden) so we have fond memories. Last time we were there we put her in the fenced in training area so she could run around with me and not try to eat everything in the store !!! I called the store this past week to see if they had a balm for her paws. I am very picky and found the one I wanted online, the store said they had it. So yesterday we went to get one. When we walked in there was no employee available but found someone. ..told him what I was looking for . He was not freindly, could have cared less about my dog. I asked if she could go in to the training area and he gruffly said no , not without me. I was 2 feet away and said I will go with her...meanwhile he walked me over to the area and showed me these very expensive balms, none of them were the one I called about. I was ready to leave and asked if there was anything else, he then showed me the next isle and sure enough it was there , and less expensive also !! Still not friendly , we paid and left. For years I have had Parrots, and went to Avian/Parrot stores. I found that places like Petco didn't have much for Parrots, so I stopped going there. In September, 2022, I was fortunate to be able to adopt one of the 4,000 Beagles that were rescued by the Humane Society from a company in VA that was breeding them for testing. I knew of Petco, and used Chewy for my Parrots, but I had never heard of Pet Food Express. I had been to the local stores in Santa Monica, including Centinela Feed, Animal Kingdom, and Petco before. On a recent trip to the "Valley", while at a Petco, I ran into a couple who told me about Pet Food Express, that was just up the street. I am always up to checking out new places for my winged, and now, 4 legged "kids", so I went. I was extremely impressed with the types of food, variety of supplies from beds, toys to harnesses and leashes. I was really blown away by Garity's knowledge of the dog foods they carried, from the cans, dry, and dehydrated freeze-dried. I was introduced to can dog food, at very reasonable prices that is made in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Being a U.S. and a Canadian Pilot, I KNOW that Canadian livestock, from cows, to chickens, are raised on far less processed foods and "meal", than in the United States, resulting in much healthier foods. I now only buy canned dog food from Pet Food Express, that is from Canada, Australia, or New Zealand. I am careful about dry food, and like the dehydrated freeze-dried foods that I was introduced to there. I use the dehydrated "biscuits" as a topper for the kibble. Just one biscuit, for my 21 pound, 1 year & 4 month old Beagle, it is all gobbled up quickly, just as when I put wet food, earlier in the day, also as a topper on kibble. Since I live in Santa Monica, getting to Encino is not an easy task most of the day, and even on weekends. I was glad to find out there is one on Olympic Blvd, just inside Beverly Hills. Getting past the 405 is a chore most of the time, but I found that if I take Olympic, from Santa Monica, to the Pet Food Express store, also on Olympic, it is pretty quick if I go before 2 PM, just always sticky about 4 - 6 blocks from the 405. The first time I went to the Olympic store I met a wonderful, extremely knowledgeable, and helpful employee - Shefon. She is amazing in her knowledge of the different products, the ingredients, and factors regarding place of manufacture, like Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. I am impressed by both the variety of items & food in the store, and its employees. I have been several times in just over 2 months. Each time it is a treat for my rescued Beagle - Snoopy, but enjoyable for me too, having very helpful, knowledgeable sales staff makes it interesting and very informative. I learn a lot each time I go about differences in foods and food types. My Snoopy & I go to the Annenberg Beach House, here in Santa Monica, at least once a week. He loves to play in the edge of the surf. I had been looking on Amazon for a life preserver for him, but found one I had seen on Amazon, while at the Olympic - PFE store, and it was on sale for about $16.00. It was high quality, and fit perfectly. The same one on Amazon was $49.00, far more than the non-sale price at PFE. Both the Encino and Beverly Hills stores I have been to have self-washing stations, and LARGE scales to weigh your "kid" (dog). Although the Petco staff here in Santa Monica, are helpful, and polite, they don't have the knowledge that I find every employee who has helped me at Pet Food Express stores has. I also don't think the "chain" pet stores, like Petco, carry the variety of Canadian, Australian, and New Zealand foods, that I am now hooked on at Pet Food Express. Oh, and before I go, I can't forget to mention "Buy 3, Get 1 FREE"!!! I know it is on canned food, and toys as well. You can mix & match food, or toys, and get the lowest priced one of any 4 items for Free. I see another reviewer, Stacy P, posted on 8/8/2022, that they "Only have Quality Products". I agree, and with the buy 3, get one free, it makes even the Canadian, Australian, & New Zealand can food, reasonably priced, close to the Petco & Chewy prices. Check it out. I am certain if you LOVE your Dog, you will LOVE this place. Be prepared to be impressed with the knowledge of the staff. A couple of the toys were regular priced even though they were in the discounted section. Normally I wouldn't care, but was super disappointed the manager couldn't honor the discounted price even though I spent over $100. Told me it's price manipulation, I call it a price adjustment. 5 Star Quarantine Service! I've shopped inside this Pet Food Express a couple times pre-quarantine and was always happy with the experience. Store is clean and organized, the staff is friendly and always ready to help, and they have an excellent selection of high quality pet food. During the quarantine, their stellar service has remained the same. Yes, you can still shop inside if you like, but if you want to simplify things you can do all your shopping on their website and then choose to pickup your items or have them delivered to you. They offer free same day delivery for orders of $30 or more as well as a coupon code for 20% off your first order! Their website is clean and super easy to use as well. I ordered cat food on their website and chose the pickup option. I ended up having car troubles that day so I wasn't able to go to the store. I decided to call the store and ask them if they could change my order to delivery and they did it no problem. My order arrived the same day in just a few hours. They even did contactless delivery, and my order was delivered and left at my doorstep. No muss no fuss. I couldn't resist this deal, so I brought one of my dogs with me and made my way to this store to take advantage of this special. Pet Food Express reminds me of a more inviting and friendlier version of Centinela Pet Stores. The store is super clean and the staff is very friendly. Everyday, most of their items are buy 3, get 1 free. I definitely took advantage of this deal by purchasing dog toys that were on sale. In the middle of the store, they also had a small gated play area for dogs. Self service pet wash: The self service pet wash station lasts for 25 minutes and retails for $15. It includes shampoo, warm water, towels, and aprons. You can choose between several different shampoos or use all of them. Unfortunately, shampoo brushes are not included. I get it, it's not hygienic. The best part is that you don't have to clean up! I The only drawbacks for this store is that I wish they carried Merrick's dog food and more dog apparel.
