However, my puppy's ear was cut and still had blood on it after I got her back home and there was blood near her nose, where she was also cut. Mistakes happen even really bad ones like this however, when I asked how she was and if there's anything I need to know, they failed to tell me about this. Such a great experience for me and the pooches. A couple days before Thanksgiving, Mini and Mia went in for their first grooming. Based on the reviews, I felt comfortable giving them a try. I am so happy that I did. Walking in they were welcoming and thorough with understanding what I wanted. When I got there later that day to pick them up, Gia was super easy going. When she brought Mia and Mini out, I expected Mia to be her typical above average socially anxious pup. But she was only a quarter of what she usually is when I pick them up from a groomer. First time ever she wasn't standing at the door waiting to get out. Jorge did an amazing job on their cuts for their first ever visit. I'm a fan. I get my pup's nails trimmed and filed here regularly and it is a great experience every time. My dog is a little high energy, so it takes some skill to get him to sit and endure a nail trim. The groomer does a great job, my boy never has any trauma or anxiety from the service (which has been an issue elsewhere). I am extremely picky about who and where I bring my fur son, and it is extremely important to me that there is personalized attention and service. With so many corporate chains springing up everywhere, it is so nice to find a business that is owned and run by an actual person, not an executive board. If there is an issue, I know I can communicate directly with the owner and not have to work up a chain of command. We been taking our miniature schnauzers here a few times, but today was sadly the last time. We asked for a traditional schnauzer cut as always but today when we picked him up he was all shaved without our approval. Their excuse was that it was a very busy day and they thought we gave them the approval to shave our poor schnauzer. The guy at the front desk had the audacity to lie to my face and say he got the approval to shave my dog and then he said he looked good! Are you kidding me?...Also, they cut my other dog last time and I let it slide and didn't say anything but from seeing other people's review I see that they do this to other dogs. I had a haircut for my golden retriever to limit shedding and in my first time bathing her after (1 week later), I found a cut underneath her fur which startled me from the size and the feel of the already-formed scab, but she never indicated something was wrong and wasn't bothered by me finding it so I didn't see a need to freak out and rush to the vet, I would just notify the salon and see if they missed telling me she'd been nicked. Accidents happen, dogs wiggle, the cuts (found a second one on her chest) aren't my issue. The attempt at undermining my concerns is the reason we won't be returning. While I don't normally write reviews (just recommend or don't to those around me), this salon was recommended by a stranger and I made appointments for my dog based off of researching reviews after that initial recommendation. Because my dog is still young, excited, can be anxious and will tolerate being groomed but isn't a fan, I booked her a bath first so she could experience the place. I ask a lot of questions about how she did, the haircut options, how to go about booking, etc. When we get home, I record a video to show friends how this haircut just reversed time. It's in this different lighting and getting on ground level that I see how short her chest is and there are some choppy bits of her haircut on her legs too. While I was a little concerned this could have damaged her double coat from going short enough to see pink on her chest, it's fur, it'll grow back. The following weekend when I bathed her is when I find a cut on her backside, completely undetectable until she was wet and a dark line could be seen under her fur. My dog had only been out of our home and my sight a few times because it's hot and I've mostly worked remote: the groom, a vet appointment and a daycare playdate. The length of the cut and how it was a straight line, I knew I had to check with the groomers straight away because I was not informed of any cuts but they're closed on Sundays. We finish the bath, I take images and fill out the contact page on the website which doesn't have an image upload so I'll have to wait for a response. The owner responded fairly quickly that night just before 9pm, says she remembers me and goes into how we both thought my dog looked great, I had no complaints even with another client there and that she thought my dog looked cute. That was a red flag for me because this wasn't about the haircut and the cut in question isn't visible when my dog's fur is dry unless you know where to part the fur which I pointed out also. She then goes into how, while she's not accusing me of lying, her groomers have _____ experience and for how short her fur is, they would have seen that cut despite my pointing out it's not visible while her fur is dry so if the cut was there before her groom, the staff must have seen it. I send images with my response and in further replies, she says she showed the head groomer and my images must have come from before the haircut because of the length of my dog's fur is longer. I'm not an expert on 8 days growth, but is that not accusing me of lying then when I took the images right before filling out the contact form? I've attached a screenshot of the video I took when we got home the day of the cut and a screenshot of the photos I took when I found the cut while she was still wet and again when she was dry. It's impossible to get a non-emergency vet appointment these days, but as I was told, if it's not bothering her and seems healing fine, I could put ointment on it and continue to monitor but no need to worry. I also checked with our daycare's groomer and attendants so they could review how she played with other dogs and they've groomed her before. The scabs are now lifting and she's healed, but yesterday during a belly rub, I found one more on her chest where it curves and she would usually have a mane. These injuries are clearly from the same time and were not there before the cut, did not happen during play and with this heat, she hasn't done much outside of our home. All in all, the haircut was OK but addressing concerns by trying to poke holes was infuriating and lost my trust. The only goal in reaching out in the first place was that while accidents happen, if they didn't realize, then they would need to know especially if we were to continue going there. The staff seems bubbly so I'm sure for longtime clients, the tone of response would have gone differently, but for being new here, I'm not stupid so we will be going elsewhere. read more
