I came to El Granero Pet Shop to purchase a filter for my fish tank and also picked up a snail to add to the tank. The store had the items I needed and the visit itself was fairly straightforward. Unfortunately, the snail I purchased died within one day of bringing it home. That was disappointing because I was hoping it would help maintain the tank. I'm not sure if it was due to stress from transport or something else, but it would be helpful if the health of the aquatic animals was monitored closely before sale. Overall the store has a decent selection, but I hope they improve the quality and care of the aquatic livestock to avoid situations like this in the future. read more

We love this place. We are able to get our babies their vaccines and flea meds. They have a variety of food items and pet items. Most of the dog food is pretty pricey. Lines get long for vaccines and flea meds. Ample parking. But if you park on the dirt you can risk getting a popped tire. read more

I came here, cause I was told, by their Downey location that they have guinea pigs. The parking is a true struggle, so it's definitely time-consuming as you're entering the pet store you'll be met with a crowd of pet owners just begging you to adopt their dog or cats, in this case, it was a bunny, which was really cute. After dodging all that I worked my way towards the register to ask for guinea pigs, only be told "we do not selling guinea pigs here". Now this could've been avoided if the communication level between the two locations supported each other. It's a madhouse, under staff, and you're going to a part of Compton, where the traffic can get dicey quick. read more

Bad store mosh of the birds are really cramped and are almost dying from not being able to breath and the cages are dirty.

They have a lot of stuff here that's for sure. Whatever type of pet you have they've got something for it. All that they sell are products i'm sure you could find at petsmart as well for the same price if not cheaper. Place is a bit crammed with usually a lot of customers which i'm sure is why the customer service is also lacking. I took my puppy when she needed her first shots as A friend had told me they were super cheap here. I came back about 3 times before I got a little sketched out on what they were giving her and if it was even needed or valid. I want to emphasize now that these shots they give here ARE NOT VALID vaccines to any veterinarians and they do NOT carry or give a rabies shot either. Every time I came for shots the line had been super long but for the price of $26? that's understandable... Obviously not now knowing god knows what they gave to my dog. Nonetheless my dog never got sick so i'm sure it's not poison but sorry to those thinking they could save a bunch on vaccines. This ain't the place for that. read more

Guys are super sweet, prices are good. The girl Adriana is incompetent and overcharged me by $17 on crickets when I asked for the $1 option of 12 crickets and $1 option of 12 worms. She charged me for 12 groups of each and that's not what I asked for. She was also extremely pushy about getting me to buy more and more stuff that I didn't need. If she didn't work here I'd come back but after that experience it's not worth my time or money. The manager apologized and made it right. Literally everyone else there is amazing but that girl needs to go. When she does I'd gladly come back to buy all the food for all my pets. read more
