I'm a longtime customer - have used the dog bath a lot of times over the years to wash my dogs. This store has a sliding glass door, which was locked open today, although the dog bath was in use. The store associates have previously told me there's an "escape" button they can use if a dog gets out of the bath which locks the front door. They're clearly not enforcing this safety program since the front door was fully open. Our dog escaped today and ended up on Steven's Creek blvd running in traffic. We are lucky to have him home, alive, safe and in one piece right now. The front door being blocked open has been reported to Pet Food Express corporate and we will be seeking a refund for today's bath as well as any outstanding bath tokens. Associates did nothing to help with this situation today and the front door was not set to "closed" when my husband returned to get his belongings after catching our dog. It was still open, so this could easily happen to another customer. read more

This review is for a visit in April 2024. I wanted to leave this review earlier but I had a hard time to get myself to write it. I came in to the store because I was told by my vet my dog was dealing with a massive kidney failure and I would have to put her down. I took her home and she didn't eat for 3-4 days. She couldn't hold down any food and at the end refused even her most favorite treats. I came in to the store looking for something to ease her pain for the final few days or something that she could eat because I had a hard time coming to the realization that I would have to lose my best friend and make the decision that I know many pet owners have to make. Pet Food Express really shines above the rest of the pet supply stores. They have engaged staff that's always willing to help answer any questions you have. I came here with my boyfriend while we prepared our home for our incoming adopted dog and Jessica was able to guide us on what are the right treats, foods, and toys for our girl. She's helped us twice in the time before our dog arrived and was super excited to meet her once she arrived. Every time, she (or another associate) answered our questions and got us the answers we needed. Their buy 3 get 1 free deal is pretty sweet and works for most (not all) of their food items. Feel free to ask if it is not clear. I've never had any problems with buying food, treats, toys, or other supplies from here and they stand by their products. Stellar staff. Went on Sunday. It was busy but everything went smoothly. The cashier was so nice and treated my fur kid with a treat. Justina was multi tasking in the pet wash so the waitlist went really fast and the stations were clean when she was done. Shopping here is ok, and the washing stations are convenient, but don't waste your time with the vet service. I tried a few times, but I always get the same, very rude treatment. There is always a long queue, and they will not check you in 20 mins before the closing time (yeah, like with 1.5 hours of total vet service availability, there is soo much plenty of time to help all these people...). The ice on the cake: prices here are skyrocketing in the last months. And the last time they told me to "go to Milpitas" so yes, I will go somewhere else from now on. read more

The folks at the Stevens Creek Store are terrific. I'm sorry the written word can't convey the depth of my sentiment. I tell you this story with tears in my eyes. Last year one of our beloved cats contracted cancer. Sundance progressively lost weight no matter what food we fed him or how much he ate. Everyone at the store was so helpful making suggestions and accepting back products that Sundance wouldn't eat. One particularly empathetic staff member suggested a product that your store doesn't carry. It turned out to be the only food Sundance would eat at the very end. The staff recognized me the next time I came in and inquired after Sundance. He had passed away. Their empathy was real. It helped. This dedication to customer service is rare these days. Putting customers - 2-legged and 4-leggged - ahead of profits. It is what makes us loyal Pet Food Express customers. It's also good business. We still feed Sundance's brother Hunter and a new kitten Robie from Pet Food Express offerings. We wouldn't go anywhere else. Other things we like: 1 the staff are knowledgeable about products, helpful, friendly, and welcoming 2 the food is among the healthiest we can find 3 the price is the best around (4 for price of 3) 4 there's a wide variety (our cats get tired of the same offerings and let us know it) 5 new products appear periodically (Rawbble is a new product we are trying out) 6 products are well organized 7 the store is clean It must be a challenge to offer reasonably priced high quality food when manufacturers' prices have gone up and supply is still somewhat limited. I came to Pet Food Express to introduce FROMM cat foods to my family. It's the best stuff on earth to serve their cats with grain-free all natural food. The benefit is less unpleasant odors when you scoop. Yeah. I love this store because of friendly people and knowledgeable staff. It's funny to see dog treats look like cookies for humans. So, I suggested to the cashier: how about serve some cookies for humans? We're the ones that brought dogs here. Dogs can't come by themselves. I found some fancy cat toys with modern technologies. They are so entertaining to me just watching them move. They also sell stuff for pets other than typical pets, like rabbits, reptile, critters and so on. This review is specifically for one of the employees in all of South Bay and this location that stood out to my fiancé and I -- and that is Julius! My fiancé and I have gone to multiple locations for our frenchie Leo's needs whether it's for dog food/treats or supplements that benefit his health. With owning a Frenchie, what a lot of people don't know is they're a lot of maintenance. And of course with ours, he has 19 different allergies so it can be extremely hard to find food and treats he can actually eat. It was not too long ago we had to restock on his kibble since he was running low... just to find out that it had been discontinued across all Pet Food Express stores. You could only imagine how frustrated we were having to figure out an alternative for Leo to eat! After a couple of minutes of searching through some aisles--- we met Julius. Greeted with a warm smile, he approached us and asked if we needed any assistance. After letting him know the food situation, he helped search all bags, looked at the ingredients thoroughly with us until we found the best option which was frozen raw food from Tuckers. During this whole process we were left speechless with the amount of product knowledge he had. Besides being able to do the obvious,as an employee, which is being able to locate where a certain product is and tell you tell the deals of what specials are happening in store-- Julius was able to clearly communicate details about products, he was also able to find alternatives if one product didn't work out and knew a whole bunch of history of the companies! Every employee I've interacted with (at multiple locations) always seemed like huge animal lovers. I was especially moved yesterday when I had a couple of birthday items delivered for my sister's dog. I used their same day delivery option because I didn't have time to run to the store. About 3 weeks ago we got a kitten from the Humane Society. I have never had a kitten before. Well not on my own, Enter Kat from Pet Food Express. She was the Kitty Goddess I needed for all things kit-ten!! She showed me the top of the line food...I told her my financial switch...she showed me the best food for my $$. Then on to toys: NO catnip for this crazy kit-ten...Kat showed me all non-catnip toys...Bottom line, Ms. Kat actually listened to what I had to say and to what I needed...SHE ROCKS!!! When I needed to do a large return a few days later and I was frantically looking for my receipt, her manager Jeanette was like "No problem. we've got your back, either way". This is an update to my previous review of the self-wash. The self-was area is infested with fleas and the new hoses are difficult to use. After we washed our dogs this weekend, I came home with tons of fleas bites all over my ankles and the dogs came home with a bunch of fleas. It was raining so we decided to finish brushing our dogs on the rugs in the self-wash area instead of outside like we normally would (to free up space for others to wash their dogs). I believe this is where the fleas attacked us. Ugh! It seems that every time we are here, we get fleas and bites! Also, the store has now installed new hoses which are nearly impossible to operate with wet and soapy hands. It takes a lot of strength to turn on and off the water. I was concerned about ripping my skin apart if my hands slipped. I did get bruised. I added a star for the helpful and kind staff. read more

I love Pet Food Express. The products are excellent and the staff are all super friendly and helpful. I recently adopted a dog. I have always had medium size dogs and this one is a tiny dog. Chris was so helpful! She walked through the store with me and my dog measuring him for the right size harness and coat. She suggested healthy small dog treats and directed me to each section. She even helped me get a tag engraved with my phone number and his name and fitted it to his collar. Meanwhile, my little pup, who was not yet neutered ( I fixed that a few days later!), was marking throughout the store. I felt so bad, but Chris was nonplussed and told me not to worry; she would clean it up. Huge shoutout to Chris! She is a wonderful person and employee. This is a great location. Pet Food Express is located between Diddams and Safeway. You cannot miss it if you look between these two large stores. I recently was told by a staff member that the staff goes on dog walk once a month. The starting point is the front door of the store and everyone walks around the plaza and ends back at the store. I think this is a great monthly event and The staff is super nice and greats me and my pooch each time we walk into the store. I even saw a ferret wearing a harness and leash the last time I visited the store. My pooch was very interested and had to sniff the ferret. Then my dog got scared when the young ferret wanted to play. My dog is such a coward. :) I like the selection of dog food. They have fresh dog food too. Just look for the fridge up front. There is also a self-serve dog washing room to your right. You can see the dog washing stations from outside of the store too. I like this and see lots of big dogs covered in bubbles. They also have a great selection of cat trees, toys and food. This is a great place to shop for any pet. Love this place. It's perfect to wash your dog! Usually the Campbell location gets busy especially on the weekends. This place is usually slow but in a good way slow! Haha. They have different products. The bath area has deep tub areas and at the register they provide you with a collar to clip your pup so they don't run away. They have a variety of shampoos to choose from. They have a high powered dryer as well. I highly recommend this place! read more

I absolutely love Pet Food Express! My husband and I used to shop at the Capitol Expressway location and are so glad there's one close to our new apartment. The staff here is so knowledgeable and polite. The manager, Jeff, was very personable and helpful. He suggested we try Lotus dog food for our dog, Bentley. He said whenever customers' pets are trying new food, they give it free of charge to make sure it's a good fit. If your pet doesn't like the food, bring it back so it doesn't go to waste! They'll donate it to a shelter :') Bentley was getting tired of his former dog food and loves Lotus. They also have deals where if you buy 3 dog food bags (this also applies to treats), you get a 4th free. We also utilize their dog washing area. Towels, shampoo, and a collar is provided for convenience. They also have aprons to avoid getting wet (as much as possible lol). Years and years ago, I got very exhausted from giving my Lil Brother cockapoo bath in my tub. We were strolling along this strip in Stevens Creek one morning, got groceries from Safeway next door and lo and behold ! There's this pet shop with stalls for bathing your furrends ! To my delight, we went in and purchased our very first token. I was afraid I wanted that I didn't bring Lil B's toiletries during that visit and we were told the shampoo, towels are provided. Back in the day, their shampoo variety was part of the options on the dial after you drop the token. Now, the shampoo bottles (at least 4 selections) are on the rack next to the hamper and the trash can. In my opinion that is much better than the diluted shampoo that came out of the shower head. Now, my dog is very furry. It takes about 4-6 towels to towel dry him and often we would leave the shop still sightly with damp paws. Well, if in case you run out of time bathing fluffy, ask the staff that you need more time and they will be more than happy to give you more towels and put an extra free token to help finish business. What about the maintenance of the stalls ? Excellent ! The aprons hanging next to the stalls are clean. To not get fluffy's leash/collar wet, the wonderfully amazing and friendly staff will be more than happy to let you borrow a plastic collar. What else can you ask for ? Oh parking here in the strip has never been a problem. Lil B and I have always been able to park right away. They also hold adoption events here during certain weekends. Pet Food Express is the only place that sells Nulo cat food! So every month we come by here (or another Pet Food Express location) to pick up a 12lb bag of food for our two growing kittens :) they kindly took an expired coupon we got from the rescue group (they gave us two, one for each kitten, and both expired back in Dec 2014...) we adopted our kittens from. When we first came here back in May some of the staff were taking turns caring for a litter of kittens that was abandoned somewhere without their mama... they were adorable :) hopefully they've all been adopted. Bonus: they sell the cat dancer for $1.99! We bought our first one on amazon for $3+... the kitties destroyed the cardboard bits a few weeks back but Tali especially loves that thing... I tried to throw it away while she was sleeping but she woke up immediately when I picked it up lol. Glad we could get a replacement for her :) read more
