This review is overdue. We have brought our dog Buddy for many years now to this place for grooming, and they have always been very kind and thoughtful. My dog tended to be nervous and a bit anxious, and they made sure to make him feel welcome and comfortable. I have been going to Sanchia since Kody was a pup and she has always been so good with him. When we got Kira things got a little more exciting for Sanchia since she was mistreated before we got her and she was a biter. Sanchia took the time and was patient with her and now she can bath her and not have to wear bite gloves. I cannot tell you how wonderful her and Tito are with the kids. Tito sings to Kira to keep her calm and Kira just adores him. She gets so excited when she sees where she is going that she almost bursts with joy. I have two cats that need to be trimmed every quarter, they are so cute when she is done with them, and they don't mind at all being trimmed because she takes time with them to get them use to the shears. This review is far overdue. TEN STARS. First of all this is the first groomer who I get my dog back NOT traumatized and weirded out from. I know Marley is in excellent hands when I drop her off. Her hair cut is always precise and and they do it ALWAYS in a timely manner. I moved out of the Bay Area and still will travel almost an hour to be sure she is in GREAT hands. Call ahead because they are Busy busy busy and for good reason!! Best groomer in South Bay/ East Bay. Hands down. P.S. Here's how the industry works people. You make an appointment, you don't show up.... or you cancel last minute. Your groomer doesn't get paid AND you have taken a spot away from another paying customer. I love this place soooooo much!!! They gave my dog a grooming that was up and beyond the best!!! I use to go to pet smart but they closed down so I decided I wanted to take my dog here!!! That was the best decision I have ever made for my dog! They are soo friendly and they even played with my pup when she was there! Canine Showcase is kind of hard to find, on the northeast corner of El Camino and Wolfe. I decided to try this place out after Petsmart (off Stevens Creek in Cupertino) completely botched Yuki's hair. I was pretty explicit with how I wanted Yuki cut and explained everything in good detail to Sanchia Hendricks, the owner. She was nice and sweet, and very accommodating when I told her I had to drop Yuki off at 8:30 and pick her up after 5. When I picked Yuki up I was pleasantly surprised. She looked great! $48 for a full grooming gets you the works: wash, cut, nail trim, anal glands, and ear hair pulling. Thanks to Canine Showcase I have faith in groomers again. Minus a star because the place could be cleaner... there is a lot of leftover dog hair that could be cleaned up, but otherwise very very happy with this place! read more

Love for this couple's compassion toward the animals. You can tell from day one of the visit. Love their set up, dogs are free to roam and socialize. It's like having a dogs party while waiting to get beautified. My little anxiety ridden 15 y.o. showed a brand new side when he was there for grooming yesterday. I was impressed. My dog has gone there for years and they have always shaved off his sanitary area way too much and to a point where he has got clipper cuts many times and has been uncomfortable for days. Today, I missed an appointment I had with them because my grandmother passed away and they called me to say(will say the exact lines said by (Cheeto), "You may be going through something but if you as an adult don't have the time to call back then there is nothing I can do". I even apologized and told Cheeto that I have a death in the family to which he said I don't care but we cannot see your dog again, go and find someone else for your dog. What kind of customer service is this? Why say something so rude? If you CANNOT say something nice, why even be in the business? Cheeto could have denied future service to my Dog but could have conveyed a message in a nicer way. These kind of people should not even be in the business. I used to take my dog here for grooming since they were doing a good job for the price they offered. This was not the case on my third visit... The groomer who terrified my dog gave him horrible nightmares! My dog started to repeatedly scratch his ear for days. He was so contemplated on it that I started to worry and took him to the vet. The Dr. discovered that he had internal bleeding inside his ears! It was most probably caused by the groomer plucking the hair and not being careful. The Dr. gave him some medication to suppress the bleeding and antibiotics for the infection. The owner of Canine Showcase offered to pay for the medical expenses which she did. I'm sad to say, I will not be bringing my dog here again. read more

(I wish I had -- then I would never have brought my dog here) My dog Murphy was brought to Canine Showcase twice for grooming. Murphy is a rescue dog, who was taken away by animal control from some bad people. I've had him for 4 months, and he has a very sweet disposition and has really started to open up and get comfortable. Though he can get nervous in certain situations, like dog grooming. The first time, it was a wash plus a trim around his eyes so he could see better. When he was dropped off at Canine Showcase, they were told about Murphy's situation, and to take care with him around other dogs. Obviously a dog like this would need to be treated gently. Well, apparently it didn't go well. Whoever was washing and brushing him was too rough with him. I believe the owner mentioned that the combs can be painful, and Murphy didn't react well and bit the lady who was hurting him. However, when Murphy was picked up, we were told he didn't like having his nails trimmed, so he tried to bite the lady. So they made a note in his file not to trim his nails. But I don't know which was the issue now-- nails or the comb--since it was a different story from different people. The second time Murphy was brought in, it was for a wash and trim. They were told not to trim his ears at all, and to just trim his fur in the front, and not in the back. His ears were the cutest thing about him. Well, they didn't follow any instructions. Murphy's hair was cut short all over, and his ears had a blunt cut. I posted a pic in the photos section if anyone wants to see a before and after pic. What was most disappointing about this entire experience was the bad customer service from the owner. At first I was impressed that she took the time to reach out because she heard I wasn't happy with his haircut. But when we talked on the phone, she immediately started the conversation by telling me how bad my dog was on his first visit. I'm sorry, I thought you were calling me to apologize because you didn't follow my instructions for how to cut his hair?!? But no, instead you want to tell me that he bit you during a previous appointment?? But that this appointment you had someone who was "more gentle" groom him. That's a direct quote. More gentle. Ok...well I would have hoped you would always have someone gently handling my dog during grooming. But ok, let's move on. The reason I was calling was because you didn't follow instructions. So I paid for a service that you didn't deliver. And your response is (1) no apology, (2) your dog was bad the previous time he came here (3) we can make a note in your file. What is the point of putting a note in his file about the way I requested his hair to be cut, if you don't follow any of my requests to begin with?!? I already made a request for how to cut his hair and it was ignored. Terrible customer service. Terrible job on the haircut. I'm surprised at how this business owner stays in business with how she treats her customers. read more

We had been coming to Canine Showcase for year or two, getting our Yorkshire groomed every couple months for $50 each visit. At first, we thought the service was fine. They always seemed to be busy with so many dogs, but at the same time they did accommodate our same-day request. Nonetheless, they did a decent job. Lately, we have been noticing some alarming things. One, our dog has NEVER had fleas. EVER. Until we got her after a grooming session which was full of dogs and a few days later we discovered she was infested with them. We took care of the incident immediately, and tried to give Canine Showcase the benefit of the doubt. So, we continued going there. Then, we noticed our dog's haircut was completely uneven, and the quality of the work seemed rushed and poor. Even through this, we still tried to be okay with it and continued to go, but then our dog got an ear infection. Our dog has NEVER EVER had an ear infection before. When I came to pick up my dog the last time, I saw the groomer pluck and pull something out of her ears as my dog yelped and cried. I thought it was weird, but I figured she must be a professional so whatever. Then we discovered the ear infection. This was the last straw. Having said that- we will no longer be taking our dog here anymore. Enough is enough. I think for $50 for our 8 lb dog, we deserve better services and treatment. Needless to say, we will be taking our business elsewhere moving forward. read more

We are new to the area and needed a poodle groomer. Poodle-grooming is a skill, not everyone can do it. I called everyone I could find and settled upon Canine Showcase as the phone call was pleasant and the rates were good. I talked with someone about their various groomers and selected the one I thought had the most experience to groom my Standard. I brought them explicit "groomer-speak" instructions from our former groomer. She came out looking okay, not as great as the place we left, but decent and they were the cheapest I'd found in the area, and groomers cost much more here than I am used to paying. The next time was just a wash and touch-up and it went okay. I took her a third time and suddenly my dog who LOVED going to the groomer was crying at the door begging me not to leave. I wish I had listened. When I picked her up she was all over me wanting to go so I paid and we left as quickly as possible. When I got home I saw what a mess she was. Her body was cut down super short, just as we were getting into cooler weather - even shorter than any summer cut I'd ever asked for, her chin had some stray scraggles, her neck which I had made a point to ask to be more elegantly graduated down into her back was even more squarely-cut than before than the last time and the most horrific part - they chopped off her top knot! Do they even know how LONG it takes for a proper top knot to grow? They should. I'm very dissatisified and frankly heartbroken everytime I looked at her for weeks now. I will say they seemed like nice enough people, but would not ever suggest anyone take a dog here that requires a type of skillful clip. Perhaps it was a different groomer this third time, but they ought to know their own employees and their skill levels and not assign a Standard Poodle to someone who can't do it. read more

My dog hates going to the groomer like I hate going to the gyno, so I was really not looking forward to bringing him in, especially to a new place. Once we walked in, my dog began shaking violently because there was a giant creature that refused to quit his incessant barking. The creature's owner did nothing to quiet her animal, which is annoying to say the least. I've been watching lots of Dog Whisperer lately and I just wanted to reach over and TSSSST. I explained everything I wanted done, and requested a quick turnaround because my dog was obviously uncomfortable there. I dropped him off around 12:45 and received a call that he was done around 3:15, which is pretty darn quick for a groomer. I had her fix a few parts here and there, and when she brought him back to the grooming table, he started trembling violently again, which made me feel quite uneasy about his time there. She assured me that he had gotten more comfortable throughout his procedure, but still. So all in all, he ended up looking very terrier-like and not as maltesey as I usually like, but I think I can work with her in the future to come up with something more to my liking. After trying other groomers in the South Bay Area Canine Showcase is hands down the winner. I dropped our labradoodle off and was warmly greeted, asked detailed questions about what I wanted grooming wise and if there were any medical/injuries they should be aware of or if my dog had any issues with blow dryers, etc. They don't kennel all the pups and take a limited number of dogs each day, so Sherlock got to hang out and get some pets in while he waited. He was done within 3 hours and looked AMAZING. The cut was exactly what I asked for, they gave me some details on matted areas or problem spots and seemed to genuinely enjoy having him. The price was the lowest I have seen in the Bay Area especially for the top notch groom and service. They gave him a very cute bow tie to top it all off. Highly recommend coming here for your dog grooming needs, they are busy so expect to wait 4-6 weeks for an appointment. read more

I brought my dogs here for grooming. While the staff is really nice, the quality of the work isn't great. They always come back kind of lop-sided, often with a few knicks and ears full of ear powder. Price for a simple puppy cut on a small dog is just shy of $50 and I've never had a problem getting an appointment here even in the busy season right before Christmas. I just don't think the quality of the cut is worth what they are charging. Rosie's in Santa Clara does a much better job for the same price and is much cleaner. read more

These guys know their dogs. My family adopted a dog (small white cockapoo) 5 years ago who inherited the family trait of insanely fast hair growth. We made the rounds of usual suspects (petsmart, petco, etc) for grooming, but were extremely unsatisfied with both their treatment of the animals (small cages, hot blow dryers, rough scissors), and the nickel and dime pricing for even small knots in the fur or dirt removal. Canine showcase is a totally different story. They are friendly and dog lovers. The dogs are never leashed and are free to play in a designated area (unless they are bad in which case they do get put in a well sized cage to maintain order). The stylists ask for our input and cut fur to look good. It is sometimes hard to get an appointment, since the shop is small and they are getting more popular by the day, but it is worth the wait if necessary. You probably spend ~$40 on your own haircut, isnt your dog worth the same? read more

Love going here. The owners/managers are so personable and warm. My dog looks so wonderful after her grooming and often comes home with a free little bow or kerchief. The dog customers are allowed to run around free and mingle and only confined to a cage when dried. Every time I bring my dog, Gizmo, in for grooming, his face always comes back way too short. The first time was my fault as I've said I wanted him to be easy to keep clean . The 2nd time I brought him in, I asked if they could leave his face long and fluffy, he also came back with a short, trimmed, face. Today is the 3rd time and will be the last time I bring him there. When I dropped him off, I specifically asked not to cut his face because I really like how he looks. The groomer said okay and said she'll just clean it up. When I picked him up, his face was trimmed short. Then she told me it was a miscommunication. I should have shown her a picture of what I wanted. I did told her not to cut his face, and she confirmed it. How should I know that "clean it" means chopping off most of the fur on his face? Gizmo had such a cute face, and they chopped off all his hair :( He doesn't even look like the same dog. My husband kept calling him a meerkat. I feel so sad for him. They did offered me $5 off for next grooming. I will not take my dog back there though. read more

When I took him in...I found out that the dogs, if they get along with other dogs, can remain uncaged...a huge plus in my book. And the price ended up being on the low end of what she had originally quoted me...and lower than other places we have been. Like one of the previous reviewers, I called my vet to recommend places to take my cat to be groomed. I also have two Pembroke Welsh Corgis who have thick undercoats, and it's very hard to keep their fur in good shape. The receptionist at my vet told me that one of the employees there brings her cat to Canine Showcase, so I brought my cat and the two Corgis there. My cat Puzzle is about 20 pounds with long hair and he's about 17 years old. I brushed him regularly, but after going on vacation over the summer, his fur had started to mat and look dull because he wasn't caring for himself very well. When my husband and I brought the gang to Canine Showcase, they were seen by Penny, who started working on Puzzle immediately as we looked on. She asked what I wanted done and offered a few suggestions. He ended getting a "lion's cut" which is such a huge improvement over the matted mess that he'd had become. Penny also did a great job on the dogs. Their fur has never been so soft and shiny and their undercoats have been thinned out much better than I've ever been able to do. I plan to bring the dogs back to Canine Showcase, and especially to Penny, on a regular basis. I was very happy with the price, too. The dogs were $40 each and the cat was $55, and, without having anything else to compare it to, I thought that was a very reasonable fee. read more

Canine Showcase was the answer to my grooming prayers! I really am glad to find a place that doesn't charge an arm and a leg, and does a good job on grooming our pup. We have a Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier mix, and he has a lot of hair -- the first few times we took him to Canine Showcase, he came out pretty short, but once we specified to the staff what adjustments needed to be made, they were quick to improve and now he comes out looking great! They express the anal glands, do a hygienic trim, cut the nails, and shampoo and blow dry along with the cut. And we appreciate that it's only $60 on our medium-sized fella! We've paid around $105 for a cut before, and that was way too much to be paying! Canine Showcase has a lot of value for the service they provide. Note that the facilities are small, so there is a lot of fur everywhere and it is crawling with barking dogs (of all sizes) most of the time. It is also tucked away off of El Camino where you can't see it, so just make sure to park in the SummerWinds Nursery lot on the Wolfe Road side and you can walk your dog up to Canine Showcase from there. read more

It was pretty easy to get an appointment. I called the day before and just had to drop him off after 9:30a. The place is sort of hard to find. It located on the backside of the shopping center and you have to park along the Wolfe side and walk around the back towards the nursery on the Wolfe side. For the price, I can't really complain. We paid $48 for a 20lb mini schnauzer and we asked for a teddy bear face. They delivered. He was freakin adorable! He was ready by 1pm so it was a pretty face turnaround. The main reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 was because the place was pretty messy. Not the cleanest place. When you walk in there is a bit of odor, but the quality of work is good. My dog loved this place! I was previously taking him to a chain pet-store grooming place and he would scramble and bark to try to get out every time we showed up. He would also get a horrible upset tummy after every visit, which we deduced was due to trauma. The place was never able to cut his nails unless we showed up to hold him down. PROS: + Called me back right away when I left a message to schedule app. + Easy to get to, right on El Camino - close to free way + Lots of parking + Lots of grass nearby for dogs to relieve themselves + His stylist, Leysla, was friendly and attentive, she must be great with animals because I could tell my dog was comfy and calm with her. CONS: - Not quite as cheap as some of the chain places - $55ish for a bath, nail clipping, etc, on my large dog. But it is worth it for it being a small business, good service and a happy dog. Apparently this isn't considered to be that pricey according to the other reviews so maybe it's not too bad. :) I told them that my dog is sensitive to being crated and they were great about accommodating and not having in a crate. Leysla said my dog played with their other doggies and followed her around while he was there. Also that he laid down while she cute his nails (wow!). You could tell that this is a warm place that they really care about animals. My dog was ready after his bath, nail clipping, and tooth brush after 2 hours. At the last place, we would wait up to 4 hours sometimes, (presumably because they kept him waiting in a crate). The best part is that my dog was not frantic at all when I came to pick him up. He jumped up a little to say hello but was not freaking out and stressed like he has been in the past. He is really calm, happy, and clean. I would recommend Canine Showcase. :) read more

Like most other dogs, my dog hates nail trimming too. He gets panic and stressed about the whole situation. I observed this, when I took him to El Camino's Pet Smart. They tied him up on a platform and started trimming his nails. Soon after 2-3 minutes, after trimming his 3 legs, they said they can't do the job anymore!!! They didn't take the fees and we came back wondering what to do. After a month, I started searching for a place where the staff at least don't give up the job and performs efficiently with low cost. Soon, I found this place Canine Showcase, where my experience was fabulous! They didn't tie my dog. Instead, one of the staffs held him in her arms and the other one finished the job in less than 45 seconds! I couldn't believe it! I guess holding him made him more comfortable and so his anxiety was not so much. They charged me $7 as against $10 in Pet Smart (if they would have finished the job). I am very happy and will come here always. I have only one suggestion for them is to keep the place clean because the space is small and there are lot of dogs. Specially on weekends. read more

True animal lovers who do a great job grooming! We recently moved to the area and were initially worried about finding a new groomer, but we're extremely happy with Canine Showcase. Max is a Shih Tzu with wavy fur and they do a very thorough job of getting his fur clipped to the same length over his entire coat - no easy feat! His paws have also never looked better, they even get the fur between his toes neatly trimmed. My only negative comment is that the floor is a bit furry and the store can seem a bit chaotic with all the dogs barking. read more

Penny has gone to them a handful of times the past year, and always comes out looks beautiful. She is wary of strangers, and hates water, but the folks at Canine Showcase were able to win her trust.
