I'm glad to hear that most people have had a good experience here (as I have had at other Lush Spaw…read morelocations in the past) but our first visit to the Santa Clara location was not a great experience and how it was handled was even worse... We took both our dogs in (German Shepherd and a schnauzer) for a bath service and de-shedding for my Shepherd, "Z". I let them know our schnauzer can be bitey with his feet/ears and to take whatever precautions necessary and that Z is pretty good, just very anxious. When I picked them up, the staff mentioned Z "freaked out" when they tried to use the blower and hurt his lip trying to bite the nozzle. I checked his face for some kind of abrasion or cut but didn't see anything. Very long story short, later that night we found he had broken one of his top canine teeth almost in half and the jagged edge was cutting his interior lip. A few rough days for Z (and us) waiting for vet appointments and $8,000.00 later, he had to get a root canal under anesthesia. I understand that accidents happen but also don't feel that Z was properly handled as they could have attempted a different method of drying/de-shedding him, rather than presumably continuing a method that stressed him out. When I first called the manager "Aqua" to bring this to her attention, she was very empathetic and professional but this manner did not continue. She said they would check the recording of his grooming to see what happened. We then played phone tag for a couple of days before she completely stopped answering my calls, texts, and voicemail attempts. This was the most disheartening part for me because even if they had responded saying everything looked fine on the recording, it still would have felt better than literally being ghosted by a "professional" business. We didn't get a call back from her until I called her from my partner's phone, whose number she didn't have. That pretty much confirmed she was purposely screening me. While speaking with my partner, Aqua sounded much more defensive while saying there was nothing concerning seen on the recording and admitting they did not complete the services paid, but ultimately gave my partner her email and the email the owner reviews to further discuss the issue. If nothing was seen on the recording, why wouldn't they have just responded with that in the first place? At least that's how it came across.. In the end, they refunded me Z's bath service (as requested) and didn't bother responding to our email. I really just wanted to advocate for my dog and hoped the management/owners would care that this happened, possibly due to their negligence, but was met with a different interaction. I truly hope they take this experience as an opportunity to further counsel their groomers on proper handling of anxious dogs. FYI - This isn't the first severe incident I've heard about occurring within their business since this happened but can't personally speak on the others.

She has some mobility challenges now and they have adapted to her needs, noting last time that she's having a harder time standing through the whole grooming appointment and needs the support of a belly band. Which is true. I've done all sorts of things to adapt to her hind quarters weakness and partial paralysis and I'm really thankful that her groomer has done what they could to help her, too, without my having to ask. As usual, she came out looking good and smelling good -- I love that they don't use heavy perfumes and whatever they do use just leaves a nice pleasant, fresh smell. She's silky soft after every groom, and she clearly feels good about her time there since she always comes out smiling and prancing when she's done (feeling fancy, I guess). Great business and great people, friendly and helpful, super glad I found them. It doesn't hurt that they're only five minutes away from home but I'd bring Kiva here even if we had to drive a bit!

My dog is a large dog and previously it's always felt like no one wanted to bathe him! I get it, he's big and it's hard! But I did not feel that way after picking him up from the groomer today! Also, the communication was outstanding! Being a little nervous of how the dog would do going to a new place, I really felt like Ally, just really communicated with me on what to expect as well as throughout and after! Also, previously I would have to sort of guess when he would be finished! I never wanted him to have to wait too long before I picked him up, but in the past his bath would take anywhere between 1.5 hrs to 5 hrs! He would have to wait in between other dogs etc. so it would really just depend on how busy they were! But not at The Dog Spot! Also, having gone to a few places before, I felt like the value for the service was great! I'm tempted to not even write this review because I don't want it to be too hard to book my dog in the future, but Ally did a really amazing job and I want to give her props!! Plus his coat is sooo soft and I can really tell it's clean! It feels great!

I brought my young puppy in for her very first initial trim, and the experience exceeded every single expectation I had. First grooming visits can feel a bit nerve-wracking, but the entire team went out of their way to make us feel genuinely welcome, comfortable, and cared for the second we walked through the door. The customer service here is truly top-tier; everyone is exceptionally kind, warm, and eager to help. Our groomer was Audrey, and she is an absolute miracle worker. Not only did she do a fantastic job with the trim itself, but she also treated my puppy with so much patience and gentle affection. My girl was so excited and completely at ease the entire time! What stood out the most was Audrey's dedication to educating us as pet parents. She took generous time after the appointment to walk us through the right way to comb our pup's coat and recommended the exact tools and brushes we should be using at home to keep her looking and feeling her best between visits. That level of guidance and personalized care is rare. If you are looking for a grooming salon that combines genuine love for animals with masterclass professionalism, look no further than Wolfgang and request Audrey. I could not be happier with the service and highly recommend them to any pet owner!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it's important to share this experience, because it…read morewasn't the mistake that disappointed me, it was how the situation was handled afterward. I brought my puppy, Genie, in for a scheduled grooming appointment. When I arrived, I was informed that the groomer was running late. I asked the receptionist how late, and her response was simply, "we don't know." Even with that uncertainty, I decided to leave Genie there and go to work, trusting that they would do their best to get back on schedule. As expected, the groomer's late arrival pushed the entire schedule back. By the time I received the call that Genie was ready, it was much later than planned. Because I had scheduled my workday around the original pickup time, I had to rearrange my schedule before I could leave to pick her up. What happened next is what turned an inconvenience into a disappointing customer service experience. Instead of acknowledging that the delay had started on their end, the employee who helped me immediately began criticizing me for taking too long to pick up my dog. He reminded me of their late pickup policy and repeatedly told me that I should have "scheduled my time better." I calmly explained several times that I had scheduled my time and that the delay was caused by the groomer arriving late. I even pointed out that he wasn't there when I dropped Genie off that morning, and couldn't have known what was said. Still, he continued arguing instead of listening. It got so uncomfortable that I was the one who had to say that I was done arguing. As someone who works in customer service, I found it incredibly disappointing that I had to de-escalate a conversation with an employee instead of the other way around. Afterward, the manager personally called to apologize and asked me to give the business a second chance. I appreciated that call and agreed. I later went out of town, and when I returned, I called and scheduled another appointment because I wanted to give them the opportunity they asked for. The very next day, I received a call informing me that after speaking with the owner, they had decided to cancel my appointment because they "didn't think they were going to make me happy." That was honestly the most disappointing part of this entire experience. I wasn't asking for special treatment. I wasn't demanding anything unreasonable. I simply accepted their apology and agreed to give them the second chance they asked for. Instead, they canceled my appointment and left me feeling like I was the problem. To be clear, I don't blame the groomer. Mistakes happen. What I do blame is how this situation was handled. One employee's behavior turned a scheduling issue into a confrontation, and when management had the chance to stand behin' its apology, they chose to cancel my appointment. There are many places that can groom my dog. What sets a business apart is how it treats customers when something goes wrong. I was willing to move past the original mistake because I believe in giving people a second chance. Unfortunately, after everything that happened, I was left feeling that the apology didn't translate into accountability, and that's why I've decided to share my experience Since posting this review, the owner responded publicly. While I appreciate the response, I am disappointed to see it focus on explaining why the groomer was late rather than addressing what my review was actually about: how I was treated afterwards. Emergencies happen, and I never criticized the reason for the delay. My concern was being blamed for a late pickup that resulted from a delay that started on your end, and then having my follow up appointment canceled after your manager personally called to apologize and asked me to give your business a second chance. I also want to correct one statement in your response. You stated that I have a pattern of picking up Genie late. That is false. There was no recurring issue, no previous conversations about late pickups, and no history of this being a problem. The only incident being discussed is the one described in my review, where the pickup time was directly affected by the delay on your end I know that mistakes happen What matters is how we take responsibility. I accepted your apology in good faith. But that didn't translate into accountability or follow through. I wasn't looking for special treatment, just basic professionalism. And unfortunately, your response reinforces the same concern as a business owner I hope you learn from this experience.
