Lush Spaw - Pet Groomers Near Me - Santa Clara, California

I'm glad to hear that most people have had a good experience here (as I have had at other Lush Spaw locations in the past) but our first visit to the Santa Clara location was not a great experience and how it was handled was even worse... We took both our dogs in (German Shepherd and a schnauzer) for a bath service and de-shedding for my Shepherd, "Z". I let them know our schnauzer can be bitey with his feet/ears and to take whatever precautions necessary and that Z is pretty good, just very anxious. When I picked them up, the staff mentioned Z "freaked out" when they tried to use the blower and hurt his lip trying to bite the nozzle. I checked his face for some kind of abrasion or cut but didn't see anything. Very long story short, later that night we found he had broken one of his top canine teeth almost in half and the jagged edge was cutting his interior lip. A few rough days for Z (and us) waiting for vet appointments and $8,000.00 later, he had to get a root canal under anesthesia. I understand that accidents happen but also don't feel that Z was properly handled as they could have attempted a different method of drying/de-shedding him, rather than presumably continuing a method that stressed him out. When I first called the manager "Aqua" to bring this to her attention, she was very empathetic and professional but this manner did not continue. She said they would check the recording of his grooming to see what happened. We then played phone tag for a couple of days before she completely stopped answering my calls, texts, and voicemail attempts. This was the most disheartening part for me because even if they had responded saying everything looked fine on the recording, it still would have felt better than literally being ghosted by a "professional" business. We didn't get a call back from her until I called her from my partner's phone, whose number she didn't have. That pretty much confirmed she was purposely screening me. While speaking with my partner, Aqua sounded much more defensive while saying there was nothing concerning seen on the recording and admitting they did not complete the services paid, but ultimately gave my partner her email and the email the owner reviews to further discuss the issue. If nothing was seen on the recording, why wouldn't they have just responded with that in the first place? At least that's how it came across.. In the end, they refunded me Z's bath service (as requested) and didn't bother responding to our email. I really just wanted to advocate for my dog and hoped the management/owners would care that this happened, possibly due to their negligence, but was met with a different interaction. I truly hope they take this experience as an opportunity to further counsel their groomers on proper handling of anxious dogs. FYI - This isn't the first severe incident I've heard about occurring within their business since this happened but can't personally speak on the others. read more

One star because the staff was friendly and professional but this was one of the worst cuts my dog has had. You can see easily how uneven, we asked for a teddy cut and it was disregarded. read more

Brittney did an amazing job grooming my dog, Isla. I used to go to the Winchester location, but I switched to the El Camino location because it had more appointment availability. Isla's full groom and color took about three hours, and the results were fantastic. I really appreciate the time, care, and attention Brittney gave her. Thank you for making the experience such a positive one! read more

Kimberly was so nice and friendly with Milo, she did good with him. Milo didn't get his full haircut on his 1st appointment but it's understandable because it's his first time ever. I'm happy that they get rid of his matted and got trimmed around his eyes, now he can see better! And Milo seems happy when I picked him up! Thank you! read more

I had a great experience here. They did an excellent job with my dog Millie and took such great care of her! She was not anxious afterwards at all, which is unusual as she tends to get very stressed with these kinds of appointments. She got a full bath and groom and I was very pleased with the outcome and service. Would highly recommend! read more

Absolutely love Lush Spaw and highly recommend. Shiro has been groomed by Elena for over a year, and she's FABULOUS! Shiro has high anxiety and can be aggressive to other dogs. Elena and Lush Spaw have been more than accommodating for his services, by setting early appointments for him. He gets the Zoom Bath along with added services such as nail trim, under paw trim, and de-shedding. He's done within 30-40min. She also shares feedback on how he does each visit, in addition to trying different techniques (he's a stubborn Shiba with a solid back kick and hates the drier ). In the end he's my soft fluffy clean pup, and I couldn't be more happy read more

We've used Lush Spaw on Winchester a few times and were excited to hear about a new location closer to us. Unfortunately, the grooming experience for our dog was not up to par with our previous experiences. At first, everything looked great when I saw my dog after he had his grooming appointment. He even had a cute orange bow collar on him. However, the following day, I noticed that he seemed quite uncomfortable, randomly jumping up (while laying down) as if he had been bitten by something and would then start to lick his lower area. After it happening multiple times throughout the day I decided to inspect him and that's when I found the grooming rash (photo attached). There is also a small skin nick (I think) to the left of the rash. In addition, I discovered that my dog's nails were also not trimmed even though that was supposed to be part of the grooming package. (His dew claws are starting curve inward.) I'm hoping the rash will resolve itself in a few days or we will need to get it checked out by the vet. It seems like all the current reviews for this location rave about Elena who was not my dog's groomer. I guess if we decide to continue using this location I should make sure to always request Elena to ensure a good experience. read more

ASK FOR ELENA!! We've followed her from the Winchester location, to Union Ave, and now at El Camino, and she has never disappointed! It's so difficult to find a groomer I can trust. Bear is very particular with his groomers and is a very anxious boy, but he was instantly comfortable with Elena. We can tell she treats him well because he'll REFUSE to go to someone he does not like. Every time we visit, she always greets him so warmly, and he's always ready to go. I never have to worry when I leave him for his bath because I know she'll take good care of him. She always provides updates on how he did during grooming, and she'll give advice on how to make him more comfortable. He used to be defensive with one of his paws, and she recommended we bring him in between baths for a nail grind to help him get used to it, and it worked! He also used to have very little fur as a puppy, which did not require a full groom service, but Elena notified us when he was ready to switch services which was very helpful. He always comes back happy, fresh, and perfectly trimmed! Elena will always do her best for any scheduling accommodations, and is responsive with any questions or concerns! read more
