This was not my first pet store experience but when I first started coming here, it was very helpful to have their advice readily available. The male owner is always kind and patient and will help to the best of his knowledge. Every time I come to get my dog's nails cut, it's typically not a long wait, and the groomer is very friendly. To put it simply, my ratings is for the very good customer experience I receive and for the dog groomer whenever he is there. I don't normally give low-ranking stars to a business, especially when I value the customer service of the owner/manager (George), and the store staff (Jose, the store clerk). However, I can't say the same for their Groomer, who is also named "Jose". I made a grooming appointment for my dog (shitzu/poodle mix) at 2:00 pm a week ago with the store clerk. When I arrive at the grooming space, Jose, the groomer asks me if was the one who made the appointment to clean the dog's face and feet. I replied "no, I'm the 2 pm appointment to get my dog fully groomed. I made the appointment a week ago." Jose, the groomer then replies "well we no longer are taking any appointments" to which I respond, "I'm not making an appointment, I just told you that my appointment was made with the store clerk a week ago." The Groomer then tells me "well, I didn't see it on the notebook, and I already spoke to the other customer today on the phone. " By then the store clerk arrived at the grooming space and we told him the problem. The store clerk holds himself accountable and says it was his mistake, that he will call the other customer, the groomer spoke to today to inform her of the scheduling mistake before she arrives. Jose, the Groomer immediately said, "no, I made my appointment with the other customer." And the store clerk said, but she (meaning me) indeed made her appointment a week ago and she is already here." The Groomer refused again, and then added, "I can't groom her dog anyway, his feet are wet." At that point, I honestly lost my temper because this is the second time this groomer gives excuses to not groom my dog. The first time was two years ago when my dog didn't have his medication to help with his anxiety to which I understood and let it go. And when I mentioned this to the Groomer, he lies to my face that he wasn't working at pet ark 2 years ago, which I then reply "so not only do you make excuses but you also lie? I know your face very well, and you just confirmed you're the only groomer that has been working here in the last years". The Groomer then responds "why did you come back?" and I stated "to give another opportunity, and he just scuffed saying "I don't need your opportunity, your issue is with the clerk not with me. It was his mistake." And I responded, "the clerk admitted his mistake and was willing to fix it, you're the one who refused to fix it because you will give any excuse to not groom my dog." After that, the groomer walked away, and I was left with the store clerk who kept trying to find a way to make amends. But after the way, this groomer, Jose, treats customers who have been regular patrons of Pet Ark for over 10 years, with such disregard and unprofessionalism to the customer and their pet, why is risk putting your pet companion in danger? If this Groomer is irresponsible, dishonest, and nasty to a customer, who knows what he would do to your furry family member. Don't take your business to this Groomer, Jose. It's not worth the risk. Stay away. George--please do me the favor to not even allow this guy to deliver any purchased products to my home. Thank you. read more

I initially wrote a very bad review for grooming services that I received (re: safety concerns, appointment scheduling, & misunderstandings). While those experiences still discourage my desire to use Pet Ark for any future grooming, I think it's worth noting the owner/manager's response to my review (unsure if his title). George called me the following morning with what I believe to be a very sincere apology. He seemed very disturbed & remorseful that my experiences at his business resulted in such unpleasant feelings. He was also very eager to make up for my past experiences, & gave me his personal phone number so he could personally coordinate any future grooming appointments. The groomers & other staff have always been very friendly and pleasant to me. And while I did indeed have some unfortunate experiences at Pet Ark, I do believe this business operates with the intention of providing good service. read more

While this may be a small stores they make up for it in customer service! They have the essentials in stock when it comes to your furry, cat or dog, babies. I hardly get anything from the big box stores anymore since I can get it here. Dry, and wet food, even some vegan items for my Cleo (a westie), which helps with her allergies! Specifically the veg kibbles and wet food/can by Natural Balance. They carry the better products, i.e. dog or cat food here, no meow mix or purina, which I can certainly appreciate. After all what they eat affects their overall health in the long run :) They have accessories such as leashes, handbags, coats and booties to choose from. Very cute selection, if I may add and functional too. We even got some cute booties, which actually stay on Cleo here at a great price right before the end of a N.Y. winter. Fun fact, the store's posted close time on Friday's is 8pm. The asshole refused to sell me cat food because I forgot to bring a mask. I WAS ALLOWED to enter the store, but would not allow me to make my purchase. Once I went next door to BUY a mask, he locks the door. I don't understand how incompetent people who don't own pets (I asked) are able to keep their jobs at pet stores when so many people have been fired this year. Thank goodness for train screw up because I would have never walked past this little treasure if not for rush hour on the 1 train! I am extremely satisfied with how well they treat my dog when I come here to buy misc items like food, toys, clothing (ie a rain jacket) and more - very genuine in their coo's and awe's. I've seen them act the same towards other animals, so I know it's not just because my puppy is the cutest thing in the world ;) They just really love what they do. They always offer a handful of free treats to those willing, and Cleo is always willing. The store itself is a bit small, but packed with many items you could ever need from dog / cat beds, large selection of foods, training pads, kitty litter, and even amphibian and fish stuff. I love this place. Everyone is always so nice and informative. My dog was allergic to ingredients in his old food and and they recommended great alternatives. They do speedy deliveries which is great. Jose has been grooming my fur baby for a few years now and I am always so happy with the results. My dog once got hurt at home and we called Jose to ask if there was something special we should look for to make sure he was OK. This place has very good selections of quality dog foods and healthy treats. You would never imagine what they carry inside when you walk by(their sign is not loud and there are some crappy looking cages laying around), but the store is pretty organized and clean. The staff is always nice and helpful to reach for what you need. The price is very fair. They only have basic choices on toys and clothing/collars since the store is very small, however they have everything you need from a neighborhood friendly store. The first time, I needed a brand of cat food that not many places sell; they confirmed by phone that they had it, and I was able to purchase it without any difficulty. This was sometime in the spring of 2018. However, today (14 Nov. 2018) was quite a disappointment. I wanted to check whether they carry another brand of cat food. Whoever answered the phone seemed v inexperienced or plain unprofessional; for ex., instead of giving the name of the shop, she simply answered, "Hello?", and I had to ask whether I'd gotten the right place. She did tell me, after checking with someone else, that they carry what I wanted, so I went (somewhat) out of my way to stop there -- only to find that she'd made a mistake.
