Just the best people and products. Have been a customer here since 2016 and they've helped me find the best supplies for three different cats. The icing on the cake was today when I threw my back out - I placed an online order for heavy cat litter and it was delivered to my apartment door in 40 minutes. These folks know their stuff and care about their community - be sure to give the shop cat, Snow, a head scratch when you visit! read more

Their delivery man whose name I SHOULD remember by now? He's been keeping this cripple's cats fed for 16 months ~99% of the time. If everyone was as dependable as this man/operation? My disabled life wouldn't be on hold. read more

George, Gina and Jose really care about their customers. They go above and beyond recommending what's best for my fur babies and help with specialized orders. They may be small in size but big in inventory, knowledge and attention. There is no need to go anywhere else - they're right here in the neighborhood. read more

I LOVE shopping here. The people are great, Snow the cat always makes me smile, and they have tons of options for cat food--including lots of options for cats with medical issues! I honestly get excited whenever I need to run over here for cat food refills or litter or whatever. The vibe is so good, I just love to visit. I always end up buying my cat a new treat or toy--they have all kinds of different flavors and brands. A+, highly recommend! (Lots of dog, rodent, and aquarium stuff too!! And the people who work here are really knowledgeable about the stuff they sell) read more

Updating my original review to 5 stars. I have been coming here for nearly 5 years. This was not my first pet store experience but when I first started coming here, it was very helpful to have their advice readily available. The male owner is always kind and patient and will help to the best of his knowledge. Every time I come to get my dog's nails cut, it's typically not a long wait, and the groomer is very friendly. To put it simply, my ratings is for the very good customer experience I receive and for the dog groomer whenever he is there. If there are any issues you have with them, they are very concerned with clearing it up truly valuing your business. read more

Love this place. The staff is very friends and the selection is great considering it's a very small space. They have it packed to the ceiling and I was able to find the food my very particular cats need very quickly. They always have a good selection of toys scratchers etc as well so love grabbing a surprise for my boys every time I am in. read more

Super sweet and helpful people! Helped me get down a litter box and gave a free treat as a gift for my cat. Would recommend!

I don't normally give low-ranking stars to a business, especially when I value the customer service of the owner/manager (George), and the store staff (Jose, the store clerk). However, I can't say the same for their Groomer, who is also named "Jose". I made a grooming appointment for my dog (shitzu/poodle mix) at 2:00 pm a week ago with the store clerk. When I arrive at the grooming space, Jose, the groomer asks me if was the one who made the appointment to clean the dog's face and feet. I replied "no, I'm the 2 pm appointment to get my dog fully groomed. I made the appointment a week ago." Jose, the groomer then replies "well we no longer are taking any appointments" to which I respond, "I'm not making an appointment, I just told you that my appointment was made with the store clerk a week ago." The Groomer then tells me "well, I didn't see it on the notebook, and I already spoke to the other customer today on the phone. " By then the store clerk arrived at the grooming space and we told him the problem. The store clerk holds himself accountable and says it was his mistake, that he will call the other customer, the groomer spoke to today to inform her of the scheduling mistake before she arrives. Jose, the Groomer immediately said, "no, I made my appointment with the other customer." And the store clerk said, but she (meaning me) indeed made her appointment a week ago and she is already here." The Groomer refused again, and then added, "I can't groom her dog anyway, his feet are wet." At that point, I honestly lost my temper because this is the second time this groomer gives excuses to not groom my dog. The first time was two years ago when my dog didn't have his medication to help with his anxiety to which I understood and let it go. And when I mentioned this to the Groomer, he lies to my face that he wasn't working at pet ark 2 years ago, which I then reply "so not only do you make excuses but you also lie? I know your face very well, and you just confirmed you're the only groomer that has been working here in the last years". The Groomer then responds "why did you come back?" and I stated "to give another opportunity, and he just scuffed saying "I don't need your opportunity, your issue is with the clerk not with me. It was his mistake." And I responded, "the clerk admitted his mistake and was willing to fix it, you're the one who refused to fix it because you will give any excuse to not groom my dog." After that, the groomer walked away, and I was left with the store clerk who kept trying to find a way to make amends. But after the way, this groomer, Jose, treats customers who have been regular patrons of Pet Ark for over 10 years, with such disregard and unprofessionalism to the customer and their pet, why is risk putting your pet companion in danger? If this Groomer is irresponsible, dishonest, and nasty to a customer, who knows what he would do to your furry family member. Don't take your business to this Groomer, Jose. It's not worth the risk. Stay away. George--please do me the favor to not even allow this guy to deliver any purchased products to my home. Thank you. read more

I initially wrote a very bad review for grooming services that I received (re: safety concerns, appointment scheduling, & misunderstandings). While those experiences still discourage my desire to use Pet Ark for any future grooming, I think it's worth noting the owner/manager's response to my review (unsure if his title). George called me the following morning with what I believe to be a very sincere apology. He seemed very disturbed & remorseful that my experiences at his business resulted in such unpleasant feelings. He was also very eager to make up for my past experiences, & gave me his personal phone number so he could personally coordinate any future grooming appointments. The groomers & other staff have always been very friendly and pleasant to me. And while I did indeed have some unfortunate experiences at Pet Ark, I do believe this business operates with the intention of providing good service. read more

Great selection, and even better customer service. One of the cons of me moving out my neighborhood is that no other local pet store can fill their shoes. I'll miss you guys! read more

Awesome service, and low prices -- everything I've priced has been cheaper than the big stores, like PetCo, etc. The staff is very friendly, and they go out of their way every month to get a special dog food for me that is extremely hard to get. They also deliver! read more

My daughter and I have been going to Pet Ark for years. Everyone in the shop has always been very professional and so accommodating. Jose, the groomer takes great care of our dog Jax, and we love the way he always makes our prince look so good. Jose handles Jax with the utmost care. Jax is really skinny and Jose is so careful not to cut or hurt him in any way. We highly recommend Jose for all your grooming needs. Altagracia read more

Seriously love this place. I often come here to buy my puppy's essentials - food, toys, treats, etc. The shelves are always stocked and have a great variety for many kinds of animals (cat, fish, bird, etc). Clean and organized store. Also the staff is incredibly helpful and doesn't make you feel rushed. They are very generous in offering a treat or two for your pet. Incredibly generous people. Very kind. read more

While this may be a small stores they make up for it in customer service! They have the essentials in stock when it comes to your furry, cat or dog, babies. I hardly get anything from the big box stores anymore since I can get it here. Dry, and wet food, even some vegan items for my Cleo (a westie), which helps with her allergies! Specifically the veg kibbles and wet food/can by Natural Balance. They carry the better products, i.e. dog or cat food here, no meow mix or purina, which I can certainly appreciate. After all what they eat affects their overall health in the long run :) They have accessories such as leashes, handbags, coats and booties to choose from. Very cute selection, if I may add and functional too. We even got some cute booties, which actually stay on Cleo here at a great price right before the end of a N.Y. winter. A decent selection of toys, Klong line is the best imo, and treats. Cleo loves this place, and so do I! read more

The folks at Pet Ark are absolutely wonderful! They have been serving us with our cat needs for many years and we are so grateful for their terrific customer service. They are always willing to deliver, no matter how hard it's snowing. We will miss using them, as we are moving out of state, but highly recommend them to anyone in the Harlem neigborhood they serve. Pet Ark rocks! Support small businesses whenever possible, especially in these difficult times. read more

My 4 month old kitten is going hungry longer than she needs to tonight, because I had to find a different pet store, further away, thanks to the piece of shit working on Friday, 8/28 at 7:35. Fun fact, the store's posted close time on Friday's is 8pm. The asshole refused to sell me cat food because I forgot to bring a mask. I WAS ALLOWED to enter the store, but would not allow me to make my purchase. Once I went next door to BUY a mask, he locks the door. I don't understand how incompetent people who don't own pets (I asked) are able to keep their jobs at pet stores when so many people have been fired this year. Sincerely, A human being who forgets their mask, trying to care for their kitten. read more

I have a 15 pound lhasapoo & made a last minute appointment for full grooming. The main store is a pet supply & the basement is where they groom. I dropped off my fur baby & a few hours later I picked up my precious pup. He looked beautiful & clean. They were very thorough. read more

on my way home one day the 1 train announced that they were going to skip my stop - so off I hop one stop early to hoof it home. Thank goodness for train screw up because I would have never walked past this little treasure if not for rush hour on the 1 train! This shop is very small but they have packed in almost everything I could want to spoil my little man. They carry all the high end pet foods and litters (minus the litter I use...rats...maybe I will switch) along with toys and accessories. Yay Harlem folks! you no longer have to carry huge bags of food long distances if you don't want to feed your cat friskies from ctown! read more

The guys here are super friendly, and seem to truly love all animals. I am extremely satisfied with how well they treat my dog when I come here to buy misc items like food, toys, clothing (ie a rain jacket) and more - very genuine in their coo's and awe's. I've seen them act the same towards other animals, so I know it's not just because my puppy is the cutest thing in the world ;) They just really love what they do. They always offer a handful of free treats to those willing, and Cleo is always willing. The store itself is a bit small, but packed with many items you could ever need from dog / cat beds, large selection of foods, training pads, kitty litter, and even amphibian and fish stuff. Great store and great staff make this a common stop for the ol' lady* and I. Don't let Cleo know I called her old, mmkay? This place is small but great and they have a large selection of specialty cat food (ie: "science diet" is their cheapest brand). This place has very good selections of quality dog foods and healthy treats. You would never imagine what they carry inside when you walk by(their sign is not loud and there are some crappy looking cages laying around), but the store is pretty organized and clean. The staff is always nice and helpful to reach for what you need. The price is very fair. They only have basic choices on toys and clothing/collars since the store is very small, however they have everything you need from a neighborhood friendly store. My dog seems to be very excited every time we pass by this place. I guess she can smell where her food is coming from! read more

Awesome pet store with tons of items. I am most impressed that most of their items are organic and healthy/grain free options. Owner is extremely friendly and helpful. I'm so glad to find this little store that so pleasantly surprised me! It might look like not much from the outside, but go in and it's better than any Petco or Petsmart I've ever been too. I love this place. Everyone is always so nice and informative. My dog was allergic to ingredients in his old food and and they recommended great alternatives. They do speedy deliveries which is great. Jose has been grooming my fur baby for a few years now and I am always so happy with the results. My dog once got hurt at home and we called Jose to ask if there was something special we should look for to make sure he was OK. He stopped by after his shift and checked him out for us and even brought us an ointment that would help the healing. We're so lucky to have such a great place in the neighborhood. read more

Exceptional Customer Service. I actually been to this business a few times and still feel the same way that I felt about it when I first came. The store is a small store but it is packed with great products. The Customer service was incredible they greeted me when I first came in and made sure that all my questions were answered. They also gave me a free puppy treat for my little Morkie who absolutely loved the treats. This pet store will be a place that I will get my dog products in the future. Also, they deliver anything over $30. read more

Very disappointed with my interaction here. Just moved to the area and attempted to place an order over the phone. They charged my card before telling me that their delivery person couldn't deliver until the evening which is too late since I needed to be at work. She essentially blamed me for the lack of information that she provided and yelled at me for having her cancel my transaction. I told her I was disappointed in her customer service and she continued to complain. Didn't help that her English was not great. Will not use them. read more

Great selection and customer service. I used to come here a lot and I still try making a trip from East side.
