We have been using Pest Now since 2009. Many other pest control companies ring my doorbell and try to give me a better deal but why change companies when you already have the best. This morning a young guy named Jeff was here with his Manager Randall for our quarterly checkup. As usual, staff was prompt, polite and very helpful. I really like this company. They bill you even after stating multiple times I do not need service. There service technician showed up at the door just to collect the traps without an appointment and stated we will not be billed again and in a week I have a new bill stating they treated the lawn and interiors etc. very frustrating to deal with. read more

In response to the owner's comments: I have every reason to be frustrated. 1. I was charged for a treatment when I found termites even though I was covered by Pest Now's "warranty." 2. They treated my house with 4.3 gallons of .05% solution of Adonis. This is the lowest allowable solution according to Adonis, and 4 gallons is enough to treat 10 linear feet. Pest Now did the entire perimeter of my home using enough chemical for 10 feet. Not surprisingly, I still have termites. 3. Pest Now's inspector did not find significant structural damage when looking right at. In fact, he showed me a termite tunnel but added, "Don't disturb it." He made no attempt to see if there was any damage. I discovered the damage myself when I found more termites swarming after the woefully deficient treatment and decided I did need to "disturb it." 4. Even though I was under "warranty" when I found active termites and am still under "warranty" now, Pest Now offers not one red cent to cover needed structural repairs costing over $1000. Original Review We used Pest Now for a home inspection when we bought the home in May 2013 on the recommendation of our realtor. (She has stopped recommending them and sent our an email to other agents warning about their practices base on our experience with them.) In April of 2014 we discovered swarming termites and called Pest Now out. They said they were entering around the front stoop and offered to treat that area under warranty, but recommended treating entire home perimeter at our expense. We agreed, but later learned they used diluted chemical in far less than recommended amounts. Following the treatments, I discovered more termites as well as significant structural damage in the basement near the stoop. I called them out again, but they insisted the damage was not there at the original inspection, saying their inspectors would not have missed it, even though their inspector did not see the damage when I called them out because of the swarming termites. Additionally, the amount of damage far exceeds the amount that can be done in a single season. After having another firm look at the situation, I attempted to reach a settlement with them. They were willing to refund my cost for the failed treatment and treat the house again at no charge, but they would not even consider paying for the $1200 for repairs to the house. They seem to think that no one will bother to sue over this amount, so they will not negotiate at all. The pest control industry is filled with shady players, and this is clearly such a company. The best costumer service! They always come out within 24-48 hours and wth my annual contract it's at no additional cost. Definitely worth it. I had tried a SBO pest company last year and bc it was a 1 man show he was always rescheduling my quarterly service, I never had confirmation he had been out & he would take weeks to get back to me if I wanted additional treatments (ants in the house, wasps, etc.). I wanted to like & support the SBO shop but now that I've gone with Pest Now I know what a professional pest company looks like & I won't be changing. read more

He advised us that because of the rain he is going to spray the inside and come back tomorrow to treat the outside. I am confident this will take care of our potential mice issue. One of the absolute worst companies I've ever had the misfortune of having to deal with! I was quoted a price in writing for my client by the inspector, Shawn Rutherford. After three different invoices sent by their office, he still would NOT honor his original price! Not only that, I explained a day prior that, a real estate settlement was dependent on getting the proper paperwork in by a certain time. They sent the first invoice at 9:30 am which seemed like it was for the total amount. It was not. They waited until after 4:00 pm to send the second invoice, which caused the settlement company to have to change the final figures FOR THE THIRD TIME! Very unprofessional and totally unacceptable! Be that as it may, I was most upset by being quoted one price, and having my client charged for another price. This is just plain DISHONEST! Pest Now of Virginia provides average service. I purchased the monthly outdoor mosquito services package. They showed up every month and treated the outdoor areas as stated. The outdoor treatments did the trick. The mosquito problem was nearly non existent this year. I did try Pest Now of Virginia on an indoor moth problem. However, I did not get the same outcome. It appeared that the technician really did not have a good answer for addressing the problem. After having to call them back twice with no real solution, I took matters into my own hands, did some research, and dealt with it myself. The Pest Now of Virginia website does not allow individuals to order services as needed. You have to call in. The website is only setup for real estate agents to order termite and other pest inspections when a house is being sold or purchased. Overall, I get the impression that Pest Now of Virginia comes off as a new or limited service business just getting started in this area. It seems the company has some growing and maturing to do before I can rate them any higher. read more

Pest Now is responsive and effective. Our tech, Edgar, comes every three months to do our quarterly spraying. Between sprayings we are covered under their warranty and if we have any problems, we just call them up and Edgar comes out to help us, usually the next day. Earlier this summer he came every week for three weeks in a row because we had carpenter bees that just would not die. The people who take my calls and do the scheduling are always extremely polite and effecient and I always get an email confirming my appointment. So far we have never had to pay for anything beyond the quarterly sprayings. The warranty really covers a lot. When I was researching pest control companies, others I called had a whole list of basic bugs they wouldn't cover in their warranty, and those companies were much more expensive. read more

We've had this company take care of our houses for years and years. They used to be Superior Pest, but name doesn't matter. They do an excellent job and are always wiling to come out again if there is a problem, which is rare. Just before we sold our house they did the annual termite inspection. When we went to settlement the loan company wanted a new report even though the inspection had been only two weeks before. Pest Now happily came back and did another inspection for free. I'm very disappointed with the service. Y'all aren't even professional with anything. The spray doesn't even work but the amount of charge is way too high. I didn't even received any phone call or confirmation before they came to treat. Very disappointed and highly not pleased with the service at all. Bugs didn't even go after their service. These guys are not trustworthy. They inspected my house prior to sale. They claimed that I had to retreat a previously treated termite damaged spot since I had not been treated in 5 years. Even though the company that treated the spot had inspected it every year for 14 years and both companies agreed that no termites were present. Ended up costing me time and money to resolve (and unnecessarily retreat) the issue with the buyer. Please avoid these guys. read more

My wife and I have been customers of Superior Pest & Lawn Management since 2006 with no issues experienced. Their customer service, reliability and costs have been consistently delivered every year. I needed a pest inspection because I am selling my home. My agent sent PestNow to do the inspection while I was away in California. The inspector reported that he found live insects in a storage area, and that he saw damage there to the subfloor under the main level of the house. My agent then had PestNow return to do remdiation work, which cost me $375. Now here is my issue. My wife and I have never seen wood-eating ants in the basement, whether alive or dead. We looked at the damage the inspector flagged, and did not see any insects, even dead ones. We had 3 contractors come to the house to estimate the cost to repair the damage (PestNow does not do this type of work), and none of them saw any insects either. Further, the consensus was that the damage was probably caused by some water seepage. If termites were present, they would have caused much greater damage than was observed. Clearly it is a conflict of interest for a company that makes its money doing remediation services to do inspections of this kind. They have a vested interest in finding termites and termite related damage. I strongly suspect that the inspector lied in his finding that insects were present and that the observed damage was caused by them. No insects were furnished as specimens for evidence. Only the inspector's word supported the finding. In addition to the $375 I paid for unnecessary remediation, I am expected to pay as well for expensive repair of damage that is merely cosmetic and does not compromise at all the structure of the house. I hope that anyone who sells their home will read this and be aware of the pitfalls of allowing contractors to perform inspections. read more

We found evidence of mice in our basement and were referred to Pest Now to help. They were amazingly responsive and came out the next day, and continued to follow up two more times, at no cost to us, to make sure the mice had not returned. We've decided to have them come by on a quarterly basis to check for activity with no required contract. We couldn't be more satisfied. read more

Came on time and friendly. Asked what issues we were having and I showed him around. When we were about to pay and I remembered seeing wasps around our deck he asked to go see and found a nest. He took care of it. One price and it was reasonable. All places were adamant they had to come and do an estimate first. Pest now gives you set price and there were no surprises. And if I do quarterly they charge a lower cost. They also provide a warranty on the work. I was happy with them. read more

For home inspection purposes I wouldn't use them. They claim they couldn't see that the house had been previously treated, but another company saw that right away. If they say it hasn't been previously treated then you have to pay for a treatment in order to satisfy the buyer/lender. This is how the sell treatments. I called 3 other pest companies after Pest Now inspected the property and they all said this company always writes dead insects found and treatment recommended on their reports so they call sell you a treatment. They have services my house for many years and done a great job, always advising when there was a special issue that needed some attention. This year it was mice and they responded positively and in a correct manner. Installed baited traps and came back in a timely manner to see that they were working and rebaited the traps. Be very careful with this company. We had a hornets nest removed in the summer and we paid the one time bill for that. Months later, we receive a bill for "quarterly treatment" which we never authorized. When we called the company, they produced the bill for the hornets nest removal and there was a sneaky line in there that has us sign up for quarterly treatments. The person that did the treatment did NOT say that we are signing a contract, he just stated we need to sign the bill. Very misleading and sneaky practice. If you choose this company, be careful to read everything on any paper they have you sign. We will not be using their services again. read more

Had a first mosquito treatment 2 weeks ago, technician was nice, but the spray was a bit inconsistent to what we saw with another local company. Called for a retreat, the technician called from outside today that he had to reschedule as there was building material "ALL OVER THE PLACE" (having deck built and material is on the driveway and part of back patio not limiting his space to move around or creating a conflict to the service). Wife went to talk to him once on the property and as soon as she said her first words, he started running his machine and yelled at her to "get inside"! Construction workers started to leave so that he could do his job and the guy starts yelling that people are walking up on him while trying to do the service, that he was not doing it and left yelling at my wife. I run outside to ask him for his name as I heard everything from my office, to have him turn toward me and proceed to ignore me. Must be the Hispanic thing!!!????? My experience was not good. While I was selling my house I needed a termite inspection as everyone does. My realtor sent out Pest Now. I was called by my realtor to be told that I had live termites and shelter housing on the outside foundation. Upon inspection my foundation after the inspection was done. I did not see any termites or shelter housings as claimed by the inspector. Further there was only one site that I could visibly tell was inspected due to the fact that the mulch looked disturbed. The remainder of the mulch around my foundation was not disturbed. After reviewing the report where they marked the location I went back to check that exact spot and the surround area thoroughly. Again, no LIVE termites as stated or DEAD were located. I contacted two other termite companies for independent inspections as I felt I was being decieved. Both companies checked my foundation and area around my house. Neither found termites or said I needed the expensive treatment that Pest Now has said was needed. One of companies not only gave me a clean bill of health with no termites, but gave me a year guarentee on my property that I would not have termites or they would treat for free. So all I can say is BUYER beware. Make sure what this company tells you their inspection turned up is actually what is true, as it was falsely stated on mine and since I have to have a clear termite inspection, seems this was a quick way to make a buck! read more

This company is now Pest Now. Do not use this company, they will rip you off. I used them for termite treatments, and thought they would treat the whole house. They did not. They did not drill under the garage slab where the foundation is and the walk up basement stair area ad portions around the house. They only did spot treatments. Virginia has no laws like North Carolina on minimum treatments. even though it is recommended to have the entire house foundation treated if you have termites. It's not even clear if they properly mixed the insecticide properly before injecting around the house. Make sure you watch them mix the chemical in the tanks and watch them saturate the soil all around your foundation. They cut corners. They were also trying to get me to buy the quarterly treatment for our ant problem, but if you read info on termite insecticide, it also kills ants- even though they said they are two different services and the termite killer doesn't kill ants. read more

I have been using Pest Now for about 2 years now. I use them for routine quarterly pest control and also for the occasional ant infestation that Maryland is so well known for. I have had great service and the service people are always lovely. I have personal experience with Henri, Roman and Stephen. Henri was always kind to my family when he came out and took the time to explain the products he used. Roman was recently doing my routine quarterly service and he was exceptionally kind to me and my son. He very kindly explained to my 5 year old what he was doing and to stay away from the spray until it dried (in minutes). Plus he explained some home modifications that would help keep pests at bay. Stephen came out for our occasional ant infestation and he really was willing to go above and beyond to take care of us. He was very careful about the application after I told him my son sits close to the window where the ants seem to be coming in. He also took the time to explain how the products work and how to best protect our house from pests. All in all I highly recommend this company. read more

I was a customer of PestNow for the past 10 months. During that time I received monthly maintenance of my home. The technician that came to my home was very friendly and arrived on time. We originally called him for a bug problem, but then we discovered some mice droppings. Since then, my wife and I have caught 9 mice in our home ourselves. The service that is provided by PestNow did nothing to stop this problem. When I called to cancel the service, the customer service representative was extremely rude and short with me. There was a miscommunication about the timing of our last bill and she was extremely argumentative and unhelpful. I will not be using PestNow in the future and I encourage others to keep looking at other companies. read more

I called this company after finding their living social deal and after my apartment complex could not get rid of my insect issue. Thank goodness I did!! I was trying to let my complex handle the issue with their insect man but his spray seemed to attract more bugs! I called Pest Now and explained that I purchased their living social deal and they were very professional explained their process and stated I pay one price for every 3rd month. If I had any issues during the three month period they come back as many times as needed-- for no additional fee. Sounded good to me!! So I set up an appointment and they came out within the next two days. It took 3 treatments in two months but they totally fixed the issue! I am so happy I called them and I am more than happy to pay them every 3 months! The issue should have been a little more difficult since I stay in a apartment and they couldn't treat the apartments around me but they totally fixed it! I highly recommend pest now! read more

I have been a customer of pest now for about 2 years now and I think they are doing a great job. My house was abandoned and refurbished before I bought it and was told by the seller that there was a big bug problem so I called pest now and they did their initial treatment and signed me up for their quarterly treatments. Most of the year I see no bugs at all but during the spring I see plenty of ear wigs and carpenter bees. This is when I get the most out of my quarterly subscription and they never give me any problems about coming as often as I would like them to. Additionally the technicians they send out are knowledgeable and helpful giving suggestions about how I can help prevent bugs (ex. closing off old carpenter bee holes after treatment to prevent them from coming back next year). The customer service people are friendly and if I need to meet a technician in person they are flexible and have the technician give me a call prior to arrival. They have windows of time and my schedule doesn't make it easy to be at home for long periods of time but with the 30 min call ahead I usually am able to arrive at the same time as the technician. --tldr-- I would recommend them, and have to friends. I think that my bug control is due to their treatments. read more
